You would think the paladins of Voltron would be a pretty smart group of people since they are in charge of keeping peace throughout the galaxy, but then there are times when dumb mistakes can be made. It all started when the team was going to leave Olkarion after they had been there to relax as well as plan a few upcoming things.
" Thank you Ryner for letting us stay for so long, but you know... We gotta get back to saving the universe now?" Shiro chuckled. The team was just about ready to leave Olkarion but as usual, Shiro had to thank everyone and waste time.
" Shiro come on! Hurry up or we're leaving without you old man!" Lance yelled. Shiro waved him off and two long minutes later he started running back towards the ship.
" Jeez you sure take your time..." Lance muttered once Shiro had gotten up on the ship and joined the others. Shiro ignored all the annoyed looks he got and went to help Coran with some things. Allura and the rest of the team were in the control room waiting for her to start the ship.
" Alright, it's best you sit down team so you don't fall over once we lift off..." Allura advised. Everyone proceeded to sit down when Lance suddenly got up. He tried convincing everyone he didn't need to sit down so Allura started the ship and they took off. As predicted Lance fell over almost immediately even after they all were advised not to get up which resulted in nobody bothering to help him up.
" Okay everyone listen up! You get to choose between two planets now. Number one is Sifta or number two Quadra." Allura said. The team looked at each other and they all decided they wanted to try out Quadra, so with that Allura took the team to planet Quadra.
After a very long travel, Allura was happy to announce that they would soon land so it was best to sit down again. After learning the hard way Lance actually listened this time and Allura started the process of landing the ship. Once they were cleared from Allura to get up the team went to meet Shiro and Coran who were in the lounge waiting.
" I'm glad we got here safely without any trouble. I was planning that we stay here for a few days and explore, is that fine with everyone?" Shiro asked. Everyone seemed fine with it and the team went to gear up so they could go outside.
" Hunk do you wanna come with me and help me take samples?" Pidge asked. Hunk nodded and they ran off leaving Keith and Lance stranded.
" I think we need to stick together in case anything were to happen..." Lance mumbled. Neither of them were too happy to be exploring side by side but they had to stick together just in case.
" Alright let's go then..." Lance chirped and the two of them started walking. After a few moments of walking, they had seen a few Quadran animals poke their heads out to investigate the two humans who were invading their planet.
" Hey Keith, do you think we could breathe the air on this planet?" Lance suddenly asked.
" Well... You wanna take a dumb risk and try?" Keith responded. With that, the two of them started taking their helmets off and trying the air on the planet. After a few minutes of breathing the air without any problems, they both were sure it was safe to continue without the helmets off. As they were walking Keith suddenly felt a bit dizzy so to avoid getting questions he just started steering the two of them back to the ship and Lance was to ignorant to notice.
" Were back..." Keith announced as he and Lance walked into the lounge again. Shiro, Coran and Allura were chatting when the two paladins came back and Shiro being the leader of the team could notice something was wrong.
" Keith you look a bit pale...You feeling alright?" Shiro questioned. Keith nodded and went to get a glass of water as a way of avoiding any further questions from Shiro or anyone else.
" So did you guys find anything interesting out there?" Shiro asked.
" Well we saw a few animals...And plants...And...We tried the air on the planet..." Lance said everything that just happened. Keith shot an angry glare at Lance. He didn't need to expose them like that.
" YOU DID WHAT!?" Shiro stood up and looked at the two of them in disbelief.
" Shiro calm down, it was fine. The air on this planet is fine for us. You should be glad to know we took the risk to acquire such knowledge..." Lance insisted.
" And what if the air was bad for you then? Then you would probably have died out there!" Shiro sighed. Shiro gave Keith another glance and was surprised to see that he wasn't pale anymore.
" Okay good to know but maybe next time you can ask me before doing such a reckless thing." Shiro suggested. Just as they were talking Pidge and Hunk came back to the ship and with them, they carried lots of samples like dirt, plants and water from the planet.
" You guys didn't take your helmets off right?" Shiro quickly asked as they walked in. None of them had done it and Shiro was pleased to know that at least himself and two more weren't stupid enough to take such risks.
" Alright everyone to the kitchen then we will go outside again!" Shiro said mostly to change the subject and bad mood he'd just set on everyone.
When they got in the kitchen Hunk started making food for them and sometimes Pidge and Lance would pitch in to help. Lance was helping by giving opinions on the spices Hunk used and Pidge actually helped by cutting the vegetables and such.
" Food's ready!" Hunk said as he placed down plates on the table and the rest of the team proceeded to sit down.
" I found some vegetables when we were exploring before so I asked Coran if we would be able to eat them and he said it was fine." Hunk explained. Just as Keith was going to try the vegetables another wave of dizziness hit him. The same kind of dizziness from when he and Lance were exploring before so now Keith figured something wasn't right. Keith put the veggies on the side and kept eating the rest of the food without a problem.
" Keith..." Shiro gave the red paladin a look and Keith noticed he was hinting for him to eat the vegetables. He shook his head and got up from the table and was glad that nobody followed him. When Keith came back the team was ready to explore the planet as a team and Lance wanted to show Shiro everything they saw when Keith and him were out before.
" Wow... The animals seem really interested that were here." Shiro chuckled as more and more animals poked their small cute faces out to inspect the humans walking around outside their nests.
" And the air is safe for us as I said before. You want proof then try it for yourself..." Lance insisted and after Shiro gave it a thought he gave in and took his helmet off. The rest of the team did so aswell, except for Keith who suspected he would get dizzy again.
" Keith come on the air is fine. You already tried before right!" Lance argued so after a quick minute of bickering Lance won. Keith took off the helmet and as he did the dizziness came back but much stronger this time, but Keith did his best to ignore it and they continued walking around the planet. The longer time that passed Keith just got dizzier and dizzier and soon he felt that he would pass out any minute but instead he just stopped walking.
" Keith we are almost back at the ship, you can rest once we're back..." Shiro said and turned around and saw how wobbly Keith looked as he was walking towards himself.
" Keith why are you walking like that...?" Shiro wondered. Before anyone knew what happened Keith had fallen over and was now passed out on the ground.
" KEITH!?" All the paladins ran over to check on him and started panicking trying to make him respond.
" Keith wake up!" Shiro quickly crouched down and started shaking the red paladin to wake up but he was unconscious. The paladins all looked at each other in fear as Shiro scooped Keith up in his arms and they all ran back to the castle.
Back at the castle everything went so quickly. Hunk called for Coran and Allura to immediately come meet them in the infirmary.
" What's going on here-" Coran shrieked as he and Allura both entered the infirmary to see Keith unconscious aswell as the lot of worried paladins hovering around him.
" We were out exploring when he suddenly just collapsed. Coran, Allura you guys have to help him!" Hunk pleaded. The rest of the paladins backed up a bit to give Coran space but all of them still kept a close eye on their teammate.
" Well, he's still breathing so that's good. What exactly did you do when he passed out?" Coran asked. He expected someone to answer him but he only got dead silence.
" Well Lance told us the air was fine so we took our helmets off...None of us have been affected by anything that I know of." Pidge explained. Coran sighed and went over to the monitors and started typing.
" The air is fine for humans yes... But you guys must have forgotten that Keith is half galran." Coran said. He turned the monitor so the paladins could see what he meant. On the monitor one side was blue and the other was purple. The purple side indicated how dangerous the planet was for galrans compared to humans and there was a big difference.
" So your telling me the air on this planet is toxic for his galran part?!" Shiro argued. Coran nodded silently.
" I need to inform you paladins that neither me nor Allura will be able to help Keith to get better. We need to take him to Galran experts who know what to do in order to help him." Coran explained. Shiro gave out a frustrated sigh and went back to Keith.
" I'll start a course to the planet... " Allura said and silently walked out of the infirmary. Coran followed shortly after and the rest of the paladins stayed to keep an eye out in case something were to happen. After a very long time of traveling, they finally reached the planet and they were greeted by a few Galrans.
" Hello fellow Voltron, how can we help you out today?" A male galran walked up to the team in a friendly greeting.
" Our red paladin had encountered toxic air on the planet Quadra and we were hoping you would be able to help us out as we know very little about the galran species." Coran explained. There was a moment of silence before the male galran suddenly started hysterically rambling.
" QUADRA IS THE ONE PLANET THAT NO GALRAN GOES TO EVER! HOW COULD YOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE!?" The team just stood quietly in shame. The galran on the other hand backed up after realizing they had all been to the same planet and they still had the toxic air in their clothes.
"It's a good thing he only is half galran otherwise he probably would be dead by now. Anyway before we can help the red paladin, you all need to desensitize yourselves so it's safe for us fullblood galras to be able to help properly." The male galran explained. He pointed to a building that was further away from where Allura had landed the castle. Assuming they were to be trusted, the rest of the team went over to the building and let the other galrans take care of Keith because they knew what they were doing compared to the Voltron team.
" Go tell the medics to get here quickly!" The male galran ordered. The two galrans that had tagged along with the male one quickly ran into the main building and soon came back with medics who could retrieve Keith safely.
" Be careful, he probably still has toxins on his clothes so wear your masks." One of the medics said. The both of them pulled up their masks and proceeded to lift Keith's limp body onto the gurney they brought. They quickly took Keith inside the building and started preparing him to get better.
" Are we going the right way?" Hunk asked. The team had been asked to desensitize themselves in the building in front of them but the entryway to the building was unclear.
" I think it's over here..." Pidge gestured for the team to follow her and as they rounded the corner they encountered a door. Assuming it was this building the team entered. Inside there was a female galran who looked curiously as the team walked through the doors when suddenly she smelt the toxins emitting from them and she immediately threw out her sword at them.
" In there right now!" She demanded and pointed through a big glass chamber. Shiro took the lead and they entered. The team was now standing in the big glass chamber awaiting further demands from the female galran.
" Excuse my harshness but I'm awaiting kittlings and the Quadra toxin is extremely bad for them or any galran. Anyway if you just stand there ill tell you when you are cleared to come out from there." The female galran explained. She proceeded to pull a lever that was next to her and the chamber started filling with purple gas.
" Is anyone else feeling drowsy..." Lance asked after a while. They all felt it and one after the other they all passed out.
" Don't worry, you'll wake up once you don't have a bunch of toxins on you." The female galran informed them and she sat back down to keep an eye on the unconscious team.
Back in the main building, the galran medics brought Keith into a big room filled with lots of equipment of sorts. The male galran told them to place Keith onto the table in the middle of the room and start giving him antidotes through an IV. As they were preparing the IV Keith started to wake up.
" Where...am I...?" Keith sluggishly asked. He tried opening his eyes but he was unable to. He suddenly felt a needle prick in his arm which triggered him to let out a blood curling scream.
" KEITH!? KEITH EVERYTHING IS OKAY!" One of the medics was quick to gently try to calm the red paladin down and the other medic proceeded to ready a sedative in case.
" That hurt!" Keith whined. The male galran walked up to Keith and gave him an apologetic smile. Keith responded that with a tired glare.
" I'm sorry but you were passed out so we took the opportunity. Keith, do you remember what happened earlier that caused you to be here? " The male galran questioned. Keith tried to sit up but one of the medics pushed him down to let him know he had to stay put.
" Well we went to Quadra and me and Lance went exploring... Then he said we should take our helmets off and that's when I started feeling dizzy. Then we went out again as a team and we took our helmets off again...and then I don't remember anything from there." Keith explained. The male galran nodded and gave a quick glance at the medics who went to get something.
" So what happened... and where is the rest of my team?" Keith asked.
" Well, let's just simplify it and say you were poisoned. The planet you went to, It's not a safe planet for any galran to explore because the air is 100% toxic. Since you are only half galran the worst that happened was you passed out." The male galran explained. Keith tried processing the information given to him but his thoughts were still a bit muddled since waking up so he didn't bother asking any further questions.
" Your team on the other hand are in the building right next to this one to desensitize themselves. They should be out in a while so once they awaken we can start helping you get rid of the toxins in you."
" What do you mean awaken-?" Keith questioned. The male galran reassured Keith they were safe by handing him a small screen where he could see his team lying on the chamber floor unconscious.
" Don't worry Keith they are safe in there. You can keep an eye on them until they awaken so ill leave you be until they get here." The male galran said and he walked out of the room.
While Keith was waiting for his team to regain consciousness he started to inspect his location a bit better. He saw lots of equipment hanging on the walls and on the sides of the room. There was a sudden beep on the screen and Keith could see it was a timer that went off that he hadn't noticed before. He could see his team slowly getting up from the ground and was let out from the chamber so Keith assumed they would get to him soon. After waiting for like five minutes the doors to Keith's room opened and in walked a very worried team.
" Keith your awake-?" Lance hesitated. Just an hour or so ago Keith was unconscious and so had the Voltron team been so they all were just as confused.
" Ah good to see the rest of you aswell! " The male galran had just entered the room and was glad that the team had reunited again.
" In all the commotion that happened before I didn't have the chance to introduce myself. My name is Covrot and I'm the First Healer here. You could probably guess but I'm in charge of healing all the galrans here." The team proceeded to introduce themselves aswell and then Covrot turned around to help Keith.
" Alright, Keith we gave you an IV as a quick solution earlier but it's not going to take the toxins away. First I'm gonna need a blood sample to see how much toxins are in your body, then well use that information to give you that right amount of oxegyn and charcoal." Covrot explained.
" I get the oxegyn thing...but charcoal...? " Keith hesitated. Just as on cue the medics from before came back with some things and Keith could already see the unpleasant things they were holding. Keith sat up and prepared for the worst.
" Keith let's just start with the blood sample okay?" Covrot gestured for Keith to give his arm but there was no movement.
" Assuming you are scared of needles then your not making this easier for yourself by not cooperating." Covrot insisted. Keith looked around the room to see that team was standing close to the exit and the medics were standing on either side of him. He saw Shiro giving him an annoyed glare since Shiro knew how this could end up.
" Fine. You win." Keith muttered and gave his arm so Covrot could take some blood. Keith closed his eyes as he felt the needle go in. He tried his hardest not to drag his arm back and just as that it was over.
" There we go, that wasn't so bad now was it?" Covrot asked. Keith responded with an annoyed scoff.
" Okay, I need to take this to the lab quickly so ill be back soon. In the meantime, the medics here will start to prepare the rest." Covrot said. He gathered up the blood vials and left.
" Umm Keith... You look a bit pale...?" Lance said. One of the medics saw it too and went over to Keith. He proceeded to grab Keith by the shoulders and gently push him down so he was lying down again.
" The lab results will take some time so I would advise you to rest now." The medic said. He went back to what he was doing and Keith did what he was told and closed his eyes.
" Is he gonna fall asleep...?" Keith heard Hunk whisper to the team, so with that he opened his eyes again.
" I need to stay alert, of course I'm not gonna let my guard down just because some medic says so." Keith assured. The medic had heard and turned around to check if Keith was serious or not, and he didn't bother to tell him again.
15 minutes later -
" Hey, I'm back! Keith I got the lab results and now well see how much oxegyn your gonna need to partially get better." Covrot walked in and handed one of the medics a paper with lots of scribbles. After learning some galran he could read some of the things that were written down on the paper.
" Alright then ill just set this up and fix the settings and well get the first step done." Covrot explained. He went over to the machine that the medics had been working on and started pressing some buttons. Covrot then proceeded to drag the machine with him all the way back to Keith.
" Shiro will you help him get this on his face and Ill start the machine." Covrot said. He handed a mask to Shiro and then the black paladin helped to adjust it onto Keith's face.
" Shiro stop I can do it myself!" The red paladin tried shooing Shiro's hands away from his face but the black paladin didn't budge. Keith gave up and now he was lying down with the mask on his face.
" You had 78% toxins in your blood so just to be on the safe side ill give you 100% oxegyn to counter that procent." Covrot explained. He pressed a button on the machine and it started humming. Keith could start to feel a cool air start to emit from inside the mask and without ever noticing it before, Keith's dizziness from before was starting to lighten.
" I'm gonna let this go for an hour so I would suggest you rest in the meantime. Your team will keep an eye on you while this runs its course." Covrot said and gestured for the rest of the team to get closer to Keith.
" I don't need to sleep, I'm starting to feel better so why would I need to sleep?" Keith asked but Shiro just gave him a glare which was enough for Keith to know not to argue with the First Healers orders.
" Fine, I'll go to sleep but give me some space. " Keith mumbled. The team backed up after checking that Keith had fallen asleep and was now just sitting and waiting for the oxegyn process to be done. Some time had passed now since Keith fell asleep and in the meantime, the team had taken turns to get some food from the facility's kitchen. Keith had been sleeptalking during that time and it worried the team because none of them had ever seen him that vulnerable before.
" Mmh..." Keith had started to wake up once again and Shiro quickly walked up to greet him.
" Sh...io is that...you?" Keith mumbled. He squinted his eyes to see a buff figure standing over him and as his vision got better he saw it was indeed Shiro. Almost immediately after Keith was fully awake he started to pry the oxegyn mask off.
" Keith stop that! " Hunk quickly grabbed ahold of Keith's arms and didn't let go until he was sure Keith would stop.
" Can someone get Covrot so I can get this off?" Keith asked. The team knew how grumpy Keith could be after waking up so Lance who was closest to the door, proceeded to run off and get the First Healer. Moments later Lance came back with Covrot and the medics in his heels.
" Keith, glad your awake again. Let's see how much this helped then." Covrot said as he proceeded to grab a scanner on the table next to Keith. He positioned the scanner on top of Keith's lungs and held it there until it beeped.
" Ah... That's not gonna cut it. We're gonna have to give you the rest aswell." Covrot said and gave a glance to the medics who proceeded to get the stuff ready.
" What do you mean the rest... There's more!?" Keith snapped. He sat up and to his surprise, no one in the room reacted this time.
" Keith the next step is giving you a charcoal mix from our planet. The medics are gonna put this tube up through your nose so it easily goes down to your digestive system-"
" YOUR GONNA DO WHAT NOW-!?" Keith jumped off the table and started backing up towards the wall behind him.
" Keith I wasn't done explaining-" Covrot hesitated. He gave the others in the room a sign not to get close to Keith until he was done explaining.
" The charcoal will enter your digestive system and it will active something that will make you throw up some of the toxins..." Covrot clarified. As he was done explaining now, all they had to do now was negotiate with the red paladin.
" NO, IM NOT GONNA ALLOW YOU TO PUT THAT UP MY NOSE! ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY?!" Keith yelled. He continued backing up towards the wall until he couldn't get any further.
" Back off..." Keith held up his hands in a fighting position. The paladins were just about to engage in calming Keith down but Shiro held them back.
" Guys, Covrot and the medics know what they are doing. I think we should let them deal with Keith and we'll back them up if needed." Shiro suggested. The paladins backed up and got ready to spring into action if they had to.
" Keith please can we do this without any trouble...?" Covrot begged. He carefully nodded towards one of the medics who started walking up towards Keith.
" I said back off! If you want me to trust you then you better back off!" Keith threatened. The medic immediately stopped because he was unsure how he was gonna approach someone as agitated as Keith. Now that everyone in the room were disorientated and confused Keith took the opportunity to run with all his might out of the room.
" KEITH THIS IS NOT HELPING THE TRUST YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT!" Covrot shouted. He started running after the red paladin and the others in the room followed.
" Keith please stop running!" Pidge yelled. She let Covrot and the medics run past her as she slowed down to catch her breath.
" Guys stop!" Pidge turned around just in time to stop the rest of the team from running past her.
" What is it Pidge? " Shiro wondered. She proceeded to pull up a map of the building and show the team.
" I kinda knew Keith would do something like this so I attached a small tracker onto him without him noticing..." Pidge said. She showed the team which direction Keith was running off to and Shiro was quick to run after Covrot and the medics to tell them Keith's location. The team ran after and caught up with the galrans quickly. They had no time to lose so they discussed a plan quickly.
" I have a sedative ready so all we have to do is catch him so someone here can get close enough to inject this into him." One of the medics said. He pulled up a capped syringe to give to whoever would give it to Keith.
" I could do it but that means two people need to grab a good hold of him and keep him still." Shiro offered. They all agreed and started running towards Keith's location. Keith had ran off towards the other building and was almost halfway to the building's entry. There were around ten other galrans walking to the main building as Keith and the team approached the building so Covrot took the opportunity to get some extra help.
" STOP HIM!" He yelled and it took a few seconds for the galrans to react but as Keith approached them they had started to surround him. Keith stopped midway and tried looking for a way out of the galrans surrounding him but he soon realized they were too many to outrun.
" Keith if you would calmly follow us back to the healer room then that would be great..." Covrot insisted. Keith on the other hand wasn't gonna give up that easily and even though he knew he couldn't win, he sprung towards a small gap between two of the galrans in the circle.
" AH!" Keith yelped as one of the two galrans had wrapped their arms around him.
" LET GO OF ME!" Keith yelled. He struggled with all his might but the galran holding him was very strong and had a good hold of Keith.
" Give him the sedative now!" Covrot ordered. The medic who had the sedative ran towards the galran and Keith and quickly tried to inject it.
" He's moving too much, you have to keep him still!" The medic warned. The galran holding Keith quickly positioned himself on top of Keith, holding his arms and torso down. Shiro saw that Keith was flailing his legs causing him to still move even under the galrans weight so he quickly ran to hold Keith's legs down.
" There we go, thank you." The medic sighed. He kneeled down so he was leveled with Keith's arm and started rolling his sleeve up.
" WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? DON'T YOU DARE INJECT THAT INTO ME!" Keith shrieked. He tried to move but because of the two people holding him down he was unable to.
" Don't worry Keith, when you wake up you're just gonna feel a bit sick, throw up and then we're almost done..." The medic whispered. He injected the sedative in Keith's arm and told Shiro and the galran to release the red paladin. Because the sedative hadn't kicked in yet, Keith was quick to get up and run off and because they had successfully given him the sedative, only Shiro had to run after him. The rest of the team walked back and waited there for Shiro to bring Keith back, so Covrot and the medics could finish.
As Keith was running he slowly started to feel the sedative kick in but he decided to keep running until his body failed to respond anymore. Shiro who was running after the red paladin noticed how Keith started to slow down and he looked very limp as he ran which meant that Keith would pass out soon. By now it had been ten minutes after Keith was given the sedative and Shiro saw that Keith finally stopped running. Keith turned around and tried confronting Shiro with his last piece of consciousness.
" Shiro... Why did you let the medic give that to me...?" Keith mumbled. Keith was still a bit wary of his surroundings so Shiro didn't get too close just yet.
" Keith you didn't have to make a scene. Covrot and the medics are trying to help you so you can't really complain as you did make their job harder." Shiro stated. Shiro could see Keith was in the final stage of the sedative so he decided to slowly start approaching him.
" No... Stay away you dummy..." Keith's voice started trailing off so Shiro knew he would pass out any second now. A few seconds Keith's body went limp and he stumbled forwards, falling right into Shiro's arms. Shiro picked Keith up and started walking back to the healing room in the main building.
" Let me...go..." Keith was still conscious and kept telling Shiro to let him go but the black paladin didn't bother.
" Were back..." Shiro said as he walked in through the doors to the healer room. Shiro placed Keith down on the table and went back to the team.
" Stay...away... from me..." Keith mumbled. Covrot turned around in surprise. The medic closest to Keith was also shocked that even after fifteen or so minutes after the sedative was given, Keith was still half-conscious.
" You can't really stop us in the state you're in. Just drift into unconsciousness and you won't have to deal with this until you wake up again." The medic went over and rolled a machine with him back. Out from the top of the machine, he pulled out a long thin tube. The other medic proceeded to hand over something that looked like a nozzle and they worked together to attach it to the edge of the tube.
" Alright, let's finally do this." Covrot sighed. He grabbed the tube from the medic and walked over to Keith. He started to slide the tube through Keith's nose and kept going until he knew it was in the right position.
Covrot waited a moment before turning the machine on before he knew Keith was fully unconscious.
" Okay, I'm gonna start it now." Covrot addressed. He pressed a button on the machine and walked back to the team. The machine started humming and then suddenly they could see a black liquid slowly getting pushed through the tube.
" How long will this take...?" Lance wondered. After all the commotion the team just wanted to sit and watch over their teammate.
"It's not gonna take that long actually. Half an hour at most so call me back here when the machine beeps." Covrot declared as he and the medics got up and left the team in the room.
One hour later -
*BEEP* *BEEP*
" Huh, what's happening-?" Shiro awoke with a jolt as the machine started beeping.
" I think it's done now... I'll go get Covrot then." Pidge said and left the room. She came back a moment later with the First Healer and the medics.
" Oh great it's done! Now, all we have to do is wake him up." Covrot said. He went over and grabbed another syringe with some yellow liquid in it and went over to give it to Keith. In the meantime, one of the medics proceeded to turn off the machine and get the tube out. It had to get out in order for Keith to be able to safely throw up.
" Ugh..." Keith stirred and opened one eye to look around. Just seconds after he sat up and desperately tried to trow up.
" Here you go Keith. Get as much bile out as possible please." Covrot said, handing Keith a bucket. The next stage wasn't pleasant for anyone in the room, least of all Keith who really wasn't having a good time. Moments passed by quickly and now Keith just kept dry heaving as there wasn't anything more to throw up.
" Good job Keith... I'll take that... " One of the medics whispered and carefully grabbed the bucket from Keiths hands.
" Ugh... I feel terrible... Like I'm gonna throw up again..." Keith mumbled. He lied down again and closed his eyes while Covrot checked him over again.
" Most of the toxins are gone now so... You can leave in one hour at most." Covrot said. The team sighed with relief and while Keith was resting they got everything ready for departure.
" Hey Shiro... I need to give you this." Covrot handed Shiro a bag of yellow powder. Shiro accepted the bag with a confused look.
" You need to mix that with water and put it in an IV bag. Once a day for the next week or so you have to give it to the red paladin via an IV." Covrot explained.
" Is this the third step you were talking about before?" Shiro asked. Covrot nodded and gave an apologetic smile.
" Alright ill be sure to get this in him... Hopefully." Shiro chuckled. The team went back to Keiths room to help him back to the castle ship.
" Hey guys! You know what, I'm ready to leave now." Keith said and got up from the bed he had rested on. They thanked the medics and Covrot for helping Keith and they took off from the planet.
" I'm so happy to be back on the ship... That was rough..." Keith threw himself on the lounge sofa.
" Well you made it rough for yourself, you're the only one to blame for that." Lance said. Keith gave an annoyed glare at the blue paladin but then laughed at it.
" Well yeah... I'm not really great with stuff..." Keith muttered.
The team flew for a couple of hours until it was time to eat.
" Dinner is ready!" Hunk yelled and everyone arrived at the kitchen.
" Hopefully it's not...that food..." Keith looked suspiciously at the food on the table but he could smell anything off about it so they sat and ate the food with pleasure.
" Don't worry Keith, you'll get better soon." Shiro smiled. Keith gave him a confused look like he knew something the others didn't.
" What's that supposed to mean... I'm already better, like so much better that I can train tomorrow." Keith assured. Then Keith saw Shiro giving him his one and only look that said otherwise.
" You do know something... If it's about me then fucking tell me already!" Keith snapped. Shiro sighed and shook his head.
" I'll tell you later... But all you need to know is that youre not allowed to train until next week again." Shiro said. Keith knew it was gonna be something like that so he decided to go to bed early so Shiro wouldn't get the chance to talk more with him.
" Your such a child Keith." Lance scoffed as Keith left the room. He gave a glare at the blue paladin and kept walking.
The next day everyone were sitting and eating breakfast when Keith entered.
" Morning..." He said and sat down. He immediately noticed Shiro giving him a look but he just ignored it. After everything he Keith just had been through he didn't want any more shit to happen. They continued eating for a while until everyone were done with their breakfast.
" So since I'm not allowed to train for the next week, what am I supposed to do in the meantime?" Keith asked. Shiro gave him a pained look and gestured for Keith to follow him. They got up from the table and went towards the infirmary.
" Shiro..." Keith knew where they were heading and he slowed down. Shiro kept walking and tried convincing Keth to follow him by leaving him in the hallway. Keith gave up and eventually followed Shiro into the infirmary.
" Okay, so what are we doing in here?" Keith asked, slowly walking through the infirmary doors. He was now very cautious about his surroundings since he hated being in this room.
" Well... remember what I said yesterday about you not being fully healed yet?" Shiro asked. Keith nodded and gave Shiro a confused look.
" Well turns out you need this whole bag of antidote through an IV before you're allowed to train. Covrot gave me this yesterday." Shiro explained, holding up the bag for Keith to see.
" Haha your joking. I'm not gonna let you keep me in here just for that to get in my body." Keith scoffed and started walking out of the room. Before he got the chance to reach the door, he felt a hand on his shoulder.
" Keith... It's once a day for a week. Don't make this hard for yourself." Shiro said.
" I said I don't want to!" Keith snapped. With that, the doors to the infirmary opened, and there stood Coran.
" Why are you here-" Keith asked. He started backing away from both of them after realizing they were working together.
" Sit down here and shut up." Shiro said pointing to the infirmary bed. Keith knew he couldn't get out of this situation that easily so he went to sit down. As soon as he did there was a sudden flash. From under the bed there flew out two straps that quickly wrapped around Keith's torso, pulling him down on the bed.
" WHAT THE HELL-?!" Keith started struggling but the restraints held.
" You don't want to cooperate then this is how we deal with it." Shiro explained as he started preparing the antidote for the day.
" Let me go Shiro. When did you get so mean!?" Keith whined. Shiro ignored the red paladin's cries and finished mixing up the powder in the IV bag he was holding.
" Don't do this Shiro!" Keith kept on whining. Coran had prepped the other stuff and gave it to Shiro who put the two things together.
" You did this to yourself Keith. Alright, here we go..." Shiro said and stuck the needle in Keith's inner elbow.
" OW! THAT HURT!" Keith snapped. Shiro turned on the IV and the fluid started running through the tube.
" I'll leave you here until that's done. Then well talk about how we'll do this tomorrow." Shiro said and he and Coran left. About ten minutes later the infirmary doors opened again and in walked Lance. Keith groaned in embarrassment.
" Hey... Why are restrained...? And is that an IV?!" Lance walked over to Keith.
" Why do you always struggled when it comes to this stuff. You end up like this every single time!" Lance laughed.
" Don't know... Maybe because it's uncomfortable. I hate medical things if you didn't notice." Keith snapped.
" Well, then I can't really blame you for ending up like this..." Lance glanced at the IV. There was a moment of silence when the infirmary doors opened once again.
" Lance... Why are you here?" Shiro asked as he walked in. Lance ignored the question so proceeded to see how Keith was doing.
" It seems to be done now. You stay quiet while I take this out." Shiro glared at Keith and took the IV out quickly. Once it was out Keith was quick to start struggling against the restraints again.
" I will let you out once you promise that the rest of the week you'll behave when I give you this." Shiro said. Keith quietly nodded and Shiro let him go. As soon as he was free Keith stomped out of the infirmary and didn't speak with Shiro for the rest of the day.
" He'll get over it. It's only like six more days... He'll survive." Shir chuckled.
