A Game Part One:
Morgan wandered through camp looking for her father. She was hoping to challenge him to their war game, to try out some new strategies she'd developed.
"Gawds!" Morgan heard a loud cry from nearby, and instantly recognized the source.
Storming out of the war tent came a girl only a few years older than Morgan, sporting a pair of well kept twintails.
"Going into town without inviting me. Heck even letting me know. Doesn't he know I had my eye on some clothes there… well I never told him directly, but he could have asked."
Severa spoke out loud to herself. Severa only stopped when she heard the cry of "Mother!"
Turning her head to the cause she saw a short girl wearing a large dark overcoat come running over to her. Severa braced herself, Morgan had been known to show her affection with great … enthusiasm.
Luckily for Severa, Morgan stopped short of the diving tackle she had done when they had first been introduced.
"Mother, do you know where father is?" the small tactician said looking around expectantly.
"You're dear father, thought it best to leave his loving wife … and daughter, in camp while he goes shopping." Severa said, chiding herself for nearly forgetting her daughter.
Morgan's sudden and unexpected appearance had left Severa feeling many different emotions. When she first saw Morgan hugging Robin in the Ruins of Time she was furious. It had taken Robin the better part of the night to calm her down, and longer still to try and explain how Morgan could exist.
After all was said and done Severa was still … afraid? No, more like she was anxious around her daughter. She had hoped to learn something from her daughter about her future but Morgan had forgotten everything about Severa.
"Aw" Morgan's voice had called Severa from her thoughts. "There were some books I wanted from the store, oh well." If Morgan was actually disappointed her face didn't show it. Her eternal optimism was only matched by Nowi.
"Why did you need him anyway?" Severa asked
"I wanted to test out my new tactics on him, I bet I can beat him this time, maybe."
Severa was impressed with Morgan's confidence and lack there of and how fast she switched between them.
"D-do you want to play with me?" Severa asked, looking away afraid of being declined by her daughter.
Severa wouldn't admit it but she had been jealous of all the time Morgan and Robin had spent together since Morgan had joined. Severa too had been hoping to spend time with Robin but he had left.
"You want to play?" Morgan asked
"What? Am I not good enough to play against?"
The harsh tone would have staggered a normal person but slid off Morgan as though it were nothing.
"Not at all, you've just never been interested in this game before, I'd love to play you mother."
Severa smiled as she turned back to her daughter. "Good but be careful, I might be better than you think."
[Later]
Robin was walking back into his tent that he shared with Severa. In one hand a small bag in the other a fairly large book.
He had gone shopping for supplies for camp but ended up getting gifts for Severa and Morgan. He'd overheard Severa talking about some cute accessories in town she had wanted so he decided to get them for her. He'd also done something similar for Morgan and a tactics book she'd mentioned around camp.
As he walked into the tent he saw Severa reading mumbling something to herself. While it wasn't impossible to find Severa reading, the books she chose to read usually weren't so big. After a second Robin realized she was reading a book on tactics.
"Um … Severa…" Robin tried to get her attention.
Severa looked up from the book, her anger earlier that day was long lost by now.
"I was just … reading some of your books." She said lacking her normal authority.
"Oh … well I got you a gift." Before Robin could pull out the accessories he had gotten for her Severa had grabbed the book in his other hand.
"The Tactics Used by The Lyndis Legion. Perfect this is just what I needed. Thanks dear." Severa said before sitting down to read the book, leaving her husband dumbstruck.
He could have sworn he heard something about an 0-10 record before she went back to reading.
