ane gently kisses Maura on the cheek and wakes her up, "Maur, TJ insists that we come over to help him find his Easter eggs this year, we can't be late, we need to get up and get ready."
"Jane, he is not hunting for his eggs for a few more hours, can't we sleep in?" Maura says sluggishly as she wipes her eyes to see Jane better.
"No Maur, we need to be there on time, so we got to get a move on." "Boy someone is excited to see their nephew find his eggs this year."
"Yes, Maur, I am excited. TJ is old enough now to actually find the eggs himself but he still wants us there to help him. We are his favorite Aunts."
"Dear, we are his only Aunts, well you are. I am his Aunt's girlfriend."
"Maur sweetheart, we have had this conversation before you are part of the family and TJ thinks of you as an Aunt just like me so therefore you are his Aunt. It is that simple. We have been together since before he was born so you are his Aunt. I will not hear otherwise, now let's get up, please."
"Okay okay I am getting up. Just give me about 20 minutes and I will be ready."
"Maur, your 20 minutes is more like 40 that is why I woke you up now. I have already got the coffee made and a light breakfast. I have been up for over an hour already."
"Boy, see I told you someone is excited this morning" Maura states as she climbs out of bed and puts on her robe. "I am going to take a quick shower. I already have my clothes laid out. So, 20 minutes should be good. Will breakfast stay warm until I get downstairs?"
"Yes dear, everything is warming in the oven just waiting for us to come and eat it." Jane explains as she quickly finishes dressing.
20 minutes later, Maura arrives downstairs fully dressed and ready for breakfast. "Wow Jane, this is nice, you look very nice in that suit and it is not every day we have omelets and French toast for breakfast, as well as several different types of juices. You are spoiling me."
"Well, I do my best to spoil you every once in a while. You deserve it. I am thankful we have the day off to enjoy with family." Jane says as she puts the last of her omelet in her mouth. "It is a little chilly out this morning so be sure and grab your coat, I am going to go warm up the car."
Maura comes out a few minutes later and Jane opens the car door so she can climb in. They drive to Boston Gardens and meet Angela, Frankie, Nina, Tommy, Lydia, TJ, Vince and Kiki. Maura is surprised to see every one, she thought it was just going to be Angela, Tommy, Lydia and TJ. She is happy to see everyone else.
"Good morning everyone" Maura says as she and Jane approach the group. Jane greets her brothers and she hands something to Tommy who just smiles at her as he pockets the offering as he pulls away from the embrace.
TJ has a little Easter basket and is eager to start looking for his eggs. "Aunt Moora we have been waiting for you and Aunt Jane to get here so we can start, can I start looking for my eggs now?" TJ asks as Maura bends down to give him a big hug. TJ has always loved his Aunt Maura and loves when she reads him bedtime stories when he spends the night with her and Jane. He always has such fun with his Aunts and often asks his parents if he can go over and play with them.
Maura looks to Jane who looks over at Angela. Angela says "sure baby, go ahead and start." Frankie has his camera out and is shooting video of TJ as he finds his first egg. TJ is so excited. He runs over to show his Aunt Maura his egg. His smile is so big and his laughter has everyone laughing. Maura takes his hand as they walk back over to search for more eggs. Angela comments to Jane "he really loves Maura doesn't he?" "Ya, Ma he does, I get the feeling everyone in this family loves Maura more than me, lol." "Na, Janie, she just has a way with him and he responds to her. I know she does not think she is good with people but she is great with him. I truly believe that she is a different person then when you first brought her around the family. She is more open now and jokes and laughs with us. I love the change in her. You have been good for her and she is definitely good for you." "thanks Ma, I do love her so much. I am glad she is a part of my life. Now I am going to go help find the eggs, I do not want those two to have all the fun."
Tommy walks over to a small tree and places an egg just out of TJ's reach and then walks back over to where Lydia is standing. Jane and Maura have joined TJ in searching for eggs laughing and giving him high fives as he finds each egg. He is having so much fun. TJ spots the egg in the tree and asks "Aunt Moora, I see an egg but I need some help to get it can you help me?" Maura steps closer to TJ and says "sure handsome I would be more than happy to help you." Maura reaches up and grabs the egg and hands it over to TJ. TJ looks at the egg and says "Aunt Moora this egg is golden, it is not like all the other eggs we have found, can we open it and see what is inside?"
Maura turns to Jane who is now kneeling down beside Maura and asks Jane, "Can we open this Jane?" Jane smiles and says "sure Maur, I don't see why not, go ahead and open it." Maura opens the egg and gasps when she sees a diamond ring. Jane says "Maura Dorthea Isles, I have loved you since shortly after meeting you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
Maura is speechless, she nods her head several times before the words come out, "yes Jane, I would be honored." Jane takes the ring and places in on Maura's ring finger and stands up and gives her a big kiss on the lips. TJ hugs them both at their knees. Maura bends down and gives TJ a kiss on the cheek.
Everyone gathers around and congratulates Jane and Maura. Maura has tears running down her cheeks. She looks up into the group and sees her parents. She had not seen them earlier and she wonders when they arrived. Her parents immediately step up to gather her in a hug. "Mother, Father, I .. I I did not know you were here." Maura says as she continues to hug her parents as tears run down her cheek. "I know sweetheart," Constance says, "Jane picked us up at the airport last night. She wanted us to be here for you. So let me see the ring darling." Maura lifts her left hand up so Constance can admire the new diamond ring that is on her hand.
"Are you surprised darling?" Her father asks. "Yes Father, I had no idea Jane was going to propose to me today. I mean I figured at some point she would. She had mentioned that when the time was right, she wanted to be the one to propose. I do have a ring for her though. I just do not have it on me at the moment. I am so happy Mother. I love her so much." Constance says "I know darling, remember from the first time I met Jane I knew how special she was to you. I actually thought you two were a couple when I first met her. I am happy for you darling."
Arthur says, "I knew Jane was special also when she called and made arrangements for us to meet. When we met, we had a nice chat, shared a glass or two of whiskey and a cigar and she asked me for your hand in marriage. I was surprised, I did not think people did that anymore, she really is quite traditional. Your mother had told me about 'your detective' so when she called, I already knew who she was to you and of course I wanted to meet with her. I cleared my schedule and postponed a trip to make sure our meeting took place."
Jane walks over and puts her arms around Maura from behind and asks, "so did I surprise you Maur?" Maura turns around in the embrace and gives Jane a kiss and says "yes dear you did. I am so happy. I guess we need to set a wedding date now."
Angela chimes in and says "yes a Wedding date would be nice so when can get the wedding planning started. I have lots of ideas and ...". Jane places a finger over her Ma's mouth and says "please let us have a brief time of being engaged before we start talking about the wedding." "Okay but it is never too soon to start talking about grandbabies." "Ma!" Everybody laughs and TJ can be seen at the picnic table opening up his other Easter eggs and announcing to anybody that will hear him what was in each egg.
When he opens his last egg, he walks up to Maura and says, "Aunt Moora I guess you got the best egg this year, the Golden egg had the best prize in it." Maura kneels down and gives TJ a big kiss and says "Sorry TJ I did not mean to spoil your egg hunt by getting the best prize." "It is okay Aunt Moora guess it is the best prize for me because now you are going to really truly be my Aunt. I know I call you Aunt and to me you are already my Aunt but now you will be a Rizzoli like me and that is the best prize I can ever get except for maybe a little brother or sister."
"That's my grand baby, TJ you keep talking about another little brother or sister." Angela shouts out as everyone laughs. Everyone then prepares to depart to go to the restaurant for Easter brunch. TJ of course wants to ride with his favorite Aunts. Jane and Maura each take one of TJ's hands and walk over to their car to head to the restaurant. They both have huge smiles plastered on their faces.
