Chapter 1: Reunions

Spyro looked around calling out to the void around him "Who's there? Show yourself!"

A voice laughed, before the being said "Why Spyro, I'm sad that you have forgotten me already. After all, you and that wretched girl Cynder defeated me not too long ago!"

Spyro glared "Malefor!"

He laughed "Ah ah ah. We wouldn't want to be too hasty. After all, where is your precious Cynder right now?"

A light shone in the area, illuminating where Cynder was. "Cynder!" Spyro called, but to no avail.

Malefor laughed "Hahahahaha! Cynder, come child. Wake up and see your savior."

Cynder looked at Spyro and asked, her voice filled with venom "Finally arrived, have you? You failed in saving me, and in the world. Now, Malefor will rise in a new and stronger body, and all because of you!"

Spyro was taken aback by the tone in Cynder's voice "C-Cynder. Don't you remember? You and I defeated Malefor just a year ago. He was dragged into a crystal by the Ancestors. He can't come back."

Cynder laughed, but it was a dark and sinister one. "You are more of a fool than I thought. There can only be one Purple dragon at a time, which means that since you killed Malefor, you will become him!"

Malefor laughed, "After all, there can only be one King of Dragons. But we will torment you another time. Now wake up in FEAR!"

He let out a loud burst of the fear element and forcibly sent Spyro away, into the waking world.

Spyro jerked awake, sweating with fear from the dream. He looked at Cynder, scared. Not of her, but of what might happen to her.

Cynder woke up and looked at him "Spyro, are you ok?" She saw the fear in his eyes and nuzzled him "Hey, come on. Tell me what's wrong."

Spyro nodded, after calming down from her touch. He told her of the dream and it made her think "The dream honestly seemed more like a last ditch tactic to scare you, but the info about the king of Dragons is something interesting and something we can look into when we go back to Warfang."

Spyro nodded and nuzzled closer. "Thank you Cynder. I honestly don't know where I would be without you."

She smiled warmly "As always. But it is like I told you a year ago and will always tell you. I love you."

He nodded and looked into her eyes "And I you, now and forever."

The two went to sleep and returned to Warfang in the Morning. Upon arriving, they first went to the meeting chambers with the Guardians. Terrador being the first to see them, smiled "Ah, the Heroes have returned. Welcome back to Warfang Spyro, Cynder."

The two smaller dragons nodded and smiled, before getting Welcomes from each of the other Guardians, and after looking at each of them noticed there were some new faces around.

Spyro asked "So, who are the new Guardians, Terrador?"

The elder Earth dragon smiled "The first is Flame, who unfortunately has to take Ignitus' place."

Flame nodded sadly "Yes, I am deeply sorry for the loss of him. He was a great leader and an even greater mentor."

Spyro nodded sadly as well "I'm sure he is honored that you have risen to take his place Flame. Congratulations."

Flame nodded and then a Black dragoness stepped up "Spyro, Cynder. I am Shandra, Leader of the Shadow Dragons and the Shadow Guardian. Next to me is, Phobis, The Fear Guardian, then Chumana, the Poison Guardian and then only Male for the Secondary Elements is Zephyr, the Wind Guardian. It is an honor to meet the saviors of the world."

Spyro and Cynder both bowed to them "No, it is our honor to meet such talented dragons and Dragoness' as yourselves. Though, another reason we returned, is that we have a question."

Volteer looked at the two "Please ask away. If we can help you we shall do so." (I am not doing his rambling as I actually cannot think of synonyms for some words)

Spyro relayed his dream to them and Shandra and Volteer looked surprised, as did Terrador and Cyril. Flame, Zephyr, Chumana and Phobis were all confused, but seeing as they were new this is to be expected.

Shandra asked, "Would you like to explain it to them, Volteer, or shall I?"

Volteer said "By all means Shandra, go ahead."

She nodded and said "Ok, so long ago, during the age of Malefor, before he was corrupted by power and Dark magic, he was considered the Dragon king, for his mastery of all elements and his bloodline with the most ancient of the Dragons, who to this day we do not know the name of. During his reign, he decreed that should a purple dragon defeat him, he shall be the new dragon King, and ruler of the Dragons."

Spyro, Cynder and the newer Guardians were shocked. Cynder was the first to ask "D-Does that mean-?"

Shandra nodded and all the Guardians, old and new then bowed to Spyro and Cynder "You two are now the rulers of all Dragons."

Spyro and Cynder were taken aback but said "Um, so how does this all work?" Shadra and the others rose back up and Shandra said "We can teach you all about it some other time. First we need to get you both settled into your new home."

The two younger dragons nodded and Shandra led them to a very luxurious house, almost akin to a mansion. She said "This is your temporary house till we can finish the old/new castle's remodeling."

Spyro's eyes bugged out "T-This is huge!" Cynder also agreed with his statement.

Shandra giggled a little "Well, you two still have some growing to do so we wanted to make sure that you both had space to do so. Also, um I actually left a surprise for you both in there and I actually have a second surprise for Cynder. You see, I was away from the temple where the eggs were on a mission, but before I left I had one black egg, the only one in my clutch."

Cynder, thinking about that info for a second and slowly coming to the realization, teared up, before running to Shandra "M-Mom!"

The bigger dragoness smiled and hugged Cynder "I'm so glad you are back, my child." Spyro just smiled at the two, happy that they were reunited.

Shandra's tail pulled Spyro closer into the hug as well "I didn't forget you little one. I may not be your mother, but I happen to have known your birth parents very well and the ones who raised you also. So there are actually 5 surprises in the house for you. But if you feel like you wish to know, I was actually considered your guardian mother in case something happened to your parents."

Spyro, overwhelmed by happiness, hugged Shandra before starting to cry as well. She smiled "Well, let's not keep the others waiting in the house shall we?"

Shandra led them in and then whistled. Three fireflies came racing over and hugged Spyro.

Sparx was the first to say anything "Bro you are back! I never had a doubt in the world."

Nina and Flash both laughed a little, Nina even saying "Really Sparx? I could have sworn I heard you say something along the lines of 'Oh no, they didn't return. W-What if they were dead?'"

Shandra laughed a little, it was a melodious laugh that was quite infectious as everyone was laughing soon after. Soon enough though, two more dragons joined them, both large and imposing, but one looked much more feminine.

"Hello, Spyro. I missed you so much!" Saria came up and hugged Spyro, then Foranis walked over "Welcome home, Son." Spyro was smiling and crying "M-Mom, Dad" He could help but be happy at seeing them. Cynder looked at her mother "So, just curious but where is Dad?" Shandra looked sadly at the night sky, since it was now nighttime, "He unfortunately joined the Ancestors already. But I know he would be proud of you, Cynder, Just as I am."

Cynder smiled at her mother before Spyro came over and hugged them both and said to Shandra "T-Thank you for reuniting me with my parents." Shandra smiled and nodded "I am more than happy to, little one. But for now, go and get some sleep, ok? You'll need your rest for tomorrow."

Spyro nodded and went to go pick a room out for himself. Cynder looked at her mother "All I want to know is, was my dad someone I knew?"

Shandra, looking a little nervous, before sighing and nodding "He did help you on your quest after all."

Cynder went wide-eyed, "I-Ignitus?" Shandra nodded "It was he, yes."

Cynder nodded then said "I-I'm going to bed, mom. I'll see you in the morning."

Shandra nodded before heading to her house and weeping for the first time in her life.

Cynder laid next to Spyro, nuzzling him. As she slept, she tossed and turned, looking around as if something was there.

Spyro said "It's ok Cynder. Nothing is coming to get us."

Cynder nodded and licked his cheek before saying "I found out who my dad is. I just wish he was here too."

Spyro asked "Did I know him?"

Cynder nodded "He was the Fire Guardian."

Spyro was shocked. "I-Ignitus?"

Cynder nodded and then cried "I never got to tell him that I cared about him."

"Ah, little Cynder. I'm glad to see you safe now. I am truly sorry for not being there for you."

Cynder said "I-Ignitus?"

The newly added Chronicler laughed before revealing himself "Yes child, it is I. I am so happy to see you. I wish I could be there for you, but unfortunately my time has ended. Your time, and Spyro's time has begun. You both will do amazing things, I know it. But never doubt this, No matter what you do, be it good or evil, I will always love you, my daughter."

She smiled, tears coming out "I will remember it, Dad."

Ignitus nodded before disappearing and revealing himself to one other dragon that night, Shandra.

"My love, why do you weep?" Ignitus said

Shandra, seeing her love right in front of her, raced over and hugged him. "I weep because you are gone, and I weep because we could not raise our child as we should have. I weep for the years lost and the love that she should have been shown but was not by that despicable Malefor!"

Ignitus hugged Shandra "This is true, and I too weep for I wish this was not so. While we cannot change the past, we can change the future. So, focus on making sure our daughter and Spyro are safe and happy and then that will be alright."

Shandra smiled, nodding and giving him a kiss "When my time comes, I hope to see you there."

Ignitus nods "I will be waiting, my love, but do not join me too soon."

Shandra nods and then Ignitus fades away, both with a smile on their face.

In the morning, Shandra went over to the mansion and found Cynder and Spyro laying by the pool.

She looked at the two and smiled "Hello you two, up early are we?"

Spyro smiled "Yea, we wanted to check the place out and then decided to relax by the pool."

Cynder nodded and smiled "How was your night, mom?"

Shandra smiled "It was wonderful after I got a visit from the chronicler, or should I say Ignitus."

Cynder looked at her mother "You too?"

Shandra nodded and then explained all that was said between the two of them, with Cynder retelling her bits before finally saying "The years you two missed, they were not your faults. The only person to blame was Malefor, and since Spyro and I took care of him we don't need to worry anymore."

Shandra nodded and said "Ok, now it is time to explain the role of the Dragon King and Queen."
