A greater purpose
Chapter 1
Cora teetered as she walked along the rocky path in the forest. She and her sister Kate were walking in the forest near their home. Cora hummed a little romance song, a big smile on her face. Kate simply rolled her eyes at her sister. Cora was always joking around with her sister, such as falling out the window and landing on a ledge a few inches from the bottom of the window, pretending to drown in the lake, hiding out in the trees for hours.
"Hey sis, look at the cave," said Cora, pointing up ahead. "Wanna go inside?"
"No," Kate said. Cora whined and pouted.
"Why not?" Cora asked.
"Because it is too dangerous in there. It could cave in," said Kate.
"Fine then. You can be here fraidy cat. I'm going in."
Cora skipped ahead and went into the dark cave. She traced the walls and felt the cool rock under her fingertips. Up ahead was a green light with a white center. Cora went to the light, looking inside it but seeing nothing. She reached out and touched it, feeling its energy tingle.
"So cool," Cora whispered. White tendrils reached out and dragged her through. Cora screamed.

"I don't know why she has to do this," said Kate to herself. She perked up when she heard her little sister scream. "Nice try Cora. I'm not falling for that." Silence. "Cora? Oh no, Cora!"
Kate ran inside the cave and didn't stop in time, tripping and falling into the light, it disappearing behind her. The woman groaned as she got up, brushing the dirt from her face and clothes. She looked up to see Cora standing there, staring up.
"Cora! Don't do that!" Kate scolded, hugging her sister. "Cora? What's up?"
"That," said Cora, pointing up.
Kate nearly screamed at seeing two blue orbs staring at them. A weapon, a gun of sorts, was pointed at them from the chartreuse green robot.
"Stay back, both of you," the robot growled.
Cora stepped forward a few steps, making the robot back up.
"I will fire." He threatened
"Why? Are you scared of me? I know I can be annoying, but jeez, I didn't know I was that scary," Cora said, sticking her tongue out.

"Get in. Now," Ratchet ordered the two humans and they listened.
Ratchet didn't know why he was taking the two humans with him. He didn't trust them one bit, yet they couldn't do anything to him. At least, not like the other humans could. He needed to find Optimus ASAP and get his opinion on what to do. His leader's signal wasn't too far, so he sent out one to inform his leader he was coming.
Cora stared out the window in amazement, watching the scenery zoom by. She noticed that the mech was tense around them, but didn't know why. She tapped the dashboard a few times, earning some shudders and her grinning. Kate looked at her younger sister like she was crazy.
The medic pulled up to his leader's hideout, transforming and the two girls dropped out and landed on the dirt. Kate groaned and rubbed her back while Cora seemed just fine.
"Oi! Why you do that? We can get out just fine," said Cora, glaring at the medic.
"Ratchet, why have you brought humans here?" Optimus asked, coming out of the shadows with his own gun trained on them.
"What should we do with them Prime? They are not like the others, yet I do not trust them," said Ratchet. "I have no idea what they can do."
"I can do a lot," Cora piped up. The two had both guns pointed to her now, yet she showed no fear. "Seriously? You're gonna shoot me? I don't think sis would like that. She might kick your butts if you did."
Cora stared at them with narrowed eyes, examining them closely. She preferred the medic. He seemed more fun to tease. She stomped one foot forward.
"Boo!"
Optimus and Ratchet backed up, their guns coming to life.
"Cora! Don't antagonize the giant robots!" Kate scolded, smacking her sister's shoulder.
"What? Why not? They're fun to tease. Well the medic is anyway," said Cora, laughing while rubbing her shoulder. "But we can do things."
"Whatever sis," Kate said. She turned her attention to the larger red and blue mech. "Why are you so afraid of us?"
"I do not trust any humans. Not anymore. We are being hunted," said Optimus, not once lowering his guard. "And you two are both humans. You are just like them."
"Don't go jumping the gun yet," said Kate. "I'm Kate and this is my little sister Cora. I have no idea where we are at."
"There was a glowy circle thing and I went through it. Well, it pulled me through. Kate followed," said Cora.
"We are special in our own way," said Kate. "We aren't like the ones hunting you. I promise. Now, who are you two?"
"I am Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots. This is my Chief Medical Officer Ratchet," said Optimus. "We are from the planet Cybertron."
"Cool! Aliens!" Cora squealed. "Tell me more!"
Optimus growled when Cora skipped up to them. They couldn't go back any further and he watched her carefully, wondering what she was going to do. It could be a trick to catch them off their guard. The two stared at each other for minutes, Cora looking up innocently. Kate came up and grabbed Cora and pulled her back a few feet.
"Kate," Cora whined. "I wanna know more. This is amazing."
"You won't be saying that after they kill you," said Kate. "Clearly they aren't trusting any humans, friendly or not. And I told you not to antagonize them. They are scared enough without you scaring them more."
Kate glanced up at Optimus and while she felt bad that they were being hunted she could feel that the leader hated them, and it hurt for some reason.
"Come on, Cora," Kate said taking her sister's hand.
"Wait, what?" Cora asked
"You heard me, let's go," Kate remarked as they started to move but suddenly they heard a blaster go off hitting the ground harmlessly near them.
Kate spun around and saw it was the leader who fired the warning shot.
"Are you nuts?" she shouted as he narrowed his optics when he saw what her hands were doing.
"What kind of human are you?" he demanded.
"I'm one you don't want to piss off, how's that?" Kate growled as Optimus moved closer.
"You will be staying here with us as long as we have them perhaps the other humans will back off," Optimus said as Ratchet nodded. "Guard the small one while I will guard this one," Optimus said.
"Guard me?" Cora laughed. "Fat chance, medic,"
Kate regardless of her fear kept remembering a vision she had gotten while coming here inside that medic and this vision had shown this Optimus Prime and his life. And she felt sorry for him, and somehow regardless of his anger and hatred for humans she wanted to be his friend.
