Cosmo played with the ends of his tuxedo jacket as he sat at the table, waiting his wife to get off work to meet with him. Resting his hand on his belly as it squirmed, it took him all his strength not to eat and hog all the bread that rested in the middle of the velvet, crimson tablecloth. But he didn't want to seem like a pig, even though his stomach felt like it was churning inside out. Cosmo felt like he should've made the reservation at a later timeā¦or at least eat before he came over. Yet, he was worried that he would fill up before dinner came.
He wasn't much of a fan going to fancy places. He was much more comfortable just grabbing a pizza and eating in front of the television, or pigging out on hamburgers at a diner, where you were doing good if you kept your stomach from popping the entire evening. As tempting as it was to just cancel tonight and go there instead, Cosmo shook his head against the idea. No..he had something he needed to say..tonight was special. Tonight, despite the crystal glasses and the blood red roses hurting his eyes a bit, he needed to be there for her, especially after the news he had received just a few days before. His fingertips tapped on the glass nervously, making a gentle clicking sound as the soft talking and jazz music attempted to sooth Cosmo's nerves, before he felt his phone vibrate from his jacket pocket.
"10 more minutes until I'm there.", his phone repeated his wife's words. Cosmo tried to focus his energy on the menu in front of him as his pants leg twitched nervously. His jacket button came un done again and Cosmo tried earnestly to ignore the clinks of cocktail glasses around him, fighting the urge not to order a drink. No..I can't right now. Tonight's not the night. He flipped through the gold pages, trying to ignore the squirming feeling in his stomach as he felt his mouth water. Lobsters with melted garlic butter, steak au poivre, roasted lamb, potato gnocci, Cosmo wasn't sure what he wanted. If everything wasn't at least $100 bucks a plate, Cosmo would be getting everything, alongside a strawberry cocktail that he craved badly. No no..I really need to save up. Besides, I really shouldn't be drinking right now.
It was a bit awkward for him, sitting in the middle table without his date yet, and not yet having ordered. After a few minutes, Cosmo decided he couldn't take it much longer and started to eat the bread and butter, alongside the water melting near the basket. Warm butter melting into his mouth, while the water drizzled down his chin, a few drops spilling on his belly, that was barely held together by his shirt.
All of the sudden, a wave of seafood suddenly hit Cosmo's nose as a waiter came by, holding the silver tray in his right hand and a towel in front. He clutched his stomach and pinched his nose, trying to keep the vomiting sensation down, trying to ignore all the smells that surrounded. Oh no..not here..anywhere but here..He jolted upright from this seat, trying to locate where the bathroom was, but all he was were a bunch of crimson tables on the maroon carpet, just floating elegantly as waiters kept sweeping buy with various food smells. Luckily, this feeling had suddenly passes, and Cosmo sunk back into his seat, rubbing his stomach tiredly but eagerly.
Mmm..baby carrots sounds good..oh wait, you know what? Cosmo dug around in his jacket pocket to make sure the photo he had gotten was still there, and place it inside the very back of the menu that lied across him. Finally, he saw his wife enter through the double doors, headed towards Cosmo's table in her gold dress, and hair straightened to reach her back, though her bangs still kept its curl. Cosmo's leg began to jerk nervously as she sat down and kissed him, picking up the menu and flipping the pages slowly. Well..it's now or never.
