After ending the camping trip on a high note at the bonfire, Fiona was content to go home planning to relax with a nice, hot bath and a glass of Dom Pérignon The universe, however, had other plans for the brunette.
Walking into her loft, she was surprised to find the presence of her mother. Evident by the glass setting upon the coffee table next to a stack of papers. She furrowed her brow , wondering what could've brought her mother to Toronto. Hopeful that she had arrived in town just to greet her as she got back, she knew that wasn't very likely. Sure, her mother came into town to check on her at least once a week if she could. But, it didn't seem likely that the woman had come into town just to see how her trip went when a simple phone call or Skype session would've sufficed.
Out of curiosity, the brunette walked over to the stack of papers; picking up the one on top. Reading the contents, she realized they were legal papers. Her heartbeat raced, hand shaking as she continued to read the document. Hearing footsteps, she put on a brave face before turning to face her mother.
"Their moving forward with the trial. A date hasn't been set yet but, we have some things we need to take care of before that can happen" her mother began to explain, her eyes filled with worry as she looked at her daughter. "They need you to give your deposition."Fiona nodded, hoping she didn't look as nervous as she felt. "O-Okay," she stammered, clearing her throat before continuing; "What will I have to do to give this…deposition?"
"You'll be interviewed by Bobby's lawyer" her mother stated, pausing to move closer to Fiona; wrapping an arm around her. "You have nothing to worry about, Fifi. You did nothing wrong."
She knew this, of course; but, she also knew Bobby's lawyers were hired to make him look innocent and were likely to do anything they could to do so.
Fiona nodded, setting down the paper before speaking; "Can I go wash the stink of camping off of me now?" Her voice was light, as if nothing was bothering her at all.
Her mother looked at her with concern but, ultimately nodding to excuse her. "Of course, we'll talk more after." With that, Fiona picked up the bags she had abandoned just inside the door bringing them into her room where she dropped them on the floor. The clacking of her boots could be heard across the floor as she walked into her bathroom where she prepared her bath. With the sound of the water running, she took a deep breath letting it out in a loud sigh.
Once her bath was prepared ( complete with bubble bath and bath salts ), she realized there was something missing. Carefully opening the door, she poked her head out to check for her mother; ensuring she wasn't still out there before crossing the path to the kitchen. A bottle of champagne was surely to be found in the refrigerator, grabbing it then a glass off the counter before quickly stowing away in the bathroom. Pouring the bubbly liquid into the flute before disrobing, submerging herself into the hot water.
Sipping the champagne, she tried to drown out the memories that kept flooding to her. But, the memories were stronger than the champagne, it seemed; as they took over her mind, feeling like she was reliving it all over again.
After the scandal she had caused due to an act of jealousy; Fiona was shipped off to the Hamptons to stay with her parents at her aunt's house. There, vacationing with the Coynes were the Beckonridges. Their son, Bobby, had been a childhood friend of Declan and Fiona. Though, she was sure, he was always more Declan's friend than he was Fiona's. But, her mother saw this as the perfect opportunity to set them up. His mother agreed, the two gushed over how cute of a couple they made.
Fiona wasn't all that into the idea of dating Bobby but, she went along with it; not wanting to disappoint her parents even more than she already had. Everything was going perfectly at first, she'd smile and hang off his arm at the social events they were practically required to attend; he'd charm her, her parents, and other party guests.
The first incident happened a couple weeks after the started dating, he was pressuring her to do more than she wanted and when she tried to get away he'd tightly grasped her wrist, leaving a bruise she had to cover with bracelets. As things escalated, she tried to tell her mother what was happening but, she'd brush her off with the reminder of 'don't go looking for problems that aren't there.'
When she was finally able to tell her mother what was going on, the woman insisted upon pressing charges. "We have to make him pay for what he did to you." As much as Fiona wanted everyone to see the real Bobby, she also would've been content to let it drop. But, according to her mother, that wasn't an option.
It was agreed that she wouldn't attend Vanderbilt for Senior year like originally intended; and, after some convincing on Fiona's part she got her mother to agree to letting her finish high school at Degrassi. The conditions being that she keep her grades up (of course), stay out of trouble, and get involved in at least one extracurricular activity. Her mother didn't want her closing herself off like she did before. Fiona had agreed, if only for the fact that she could be closer to the few friends she did make at Degrassi.
Sighing, Fiona finished off her glass; draining the tub before grabbing the towel, wrapping it around herself as she exited the tub. Refilling her glass, carrying it into her bedroom to sip on while she got ready for bed. Her talk with her mother could wait until tomorrow; for now, she just wanted to sleep.
