Meeting Water
As James let go of the owl, it squawked, fell on its side, and seemed to have either passed out or died. Sirius, supremely unconcerned about the owl, told James to check who the owl was from, only to find James had already ripped the envelope apart, and was in the midst of unfolding the letter. As James quickly scanned it, Sirius bent down, and grabbed the envelope, seeing a wax seal with a 'G' on it. Being that his family was heavily into the political scene until he became Lord Black, he instantly recognized that to be the Greengrasses, which meant either they had seen the paper and wanted to talk, though it was much more likely they had received the letter, and sent a response based on Carriers state. He had named the owl such when he was younger, something his parents much disapproved of, probably what led him to doing it.
"They have agreed to meet, saying they have never trusted Dumbledore. Though, they said they want to go over to their house, and from there we can either find a safe location, leaving the kids together, or stay and tak, still leaving the kids together, tho with more supervision. I honestly didn't expect a response this soon, so I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't see much harm coming from letting the children socialise with other kids, though we will have to keep a very heavy eye, just in case." James muttered, still rereading the letter, as though looking for some sort of deception.
"Does he say what day would work best, seeing as we now have an open schedule, unless the general public decides to follow Dumbles over your magical oath. Then obviously our schedule will be far more hectik, however i don't think that they will believe Dumbles, since you gave a magical oath and can still perform magic, unlike Dumbles who is simply relying on his reputation…" Lily asked, thinking about what she would bring for the kids to do while the Heads talked. "And I presume Sirius is invited, seeing as you sent his owl dear."
"Actually, they seemed to have known that Sirius was involved, though the Prophet didn't say anything about him. Hey, Padfoot, do the Blacks have dealings with the Greengrasses? Because they seem to have recognized the owl…" James called out, only to hear Sirius respond affirmatively, with a chuckle.
"You could definitely say that my family had dealings with the Greengrasses, I wasn't involved with it, but there was a contract saying something about how if their were children born of both families, of a certain power level, a marriage contract would be required, but as far as I'm aware, since my father died before he could sign, the contract never came into existence. I could go check if you want, though unless one of their daughters is an Elemental, I can't see the contract being acted on, if it does in fact exist." Sirius called back, coming around the corner. "And to top that off, my dad tried to tie me into a contract with Lady Greengrass, before she was Lady Greengrass. It obviously never came into fruition, seeing as I'm single and she's married with kids, however my dad did try his damndest to get it signed."
"You still haven't said if they gave a date or not, hun." Lily gently reminded her husband, who nodded, and looked at the paper.
"Yeah, they said either ater today, or tomorrow would be preferable. They even gave us the floo password so we would be able to come over. Don't think it's English, however, so I'm not sure if we will pronounce it right…" James trailed off, looking at the password. "From what I can read, it's 'Viridi gramen', but I could be pronouncing it completely wrong."
"Wait, did you say 'Viridi gramen'? Because that's Latin, if I'm not mistaken, my parents were sticklers for the old magic languages." Sirius explained, as both James and Lily looked at him incredulously. "What? It was a great study. I could prank my brother without consequence, since he had to reply in Latin, which he just couldn't pick up. Of course, mum always tried to get mad, but I would claim it was to get him more fluent in Latin."
"That still doesn't explain why your parents would force you to learn latin tho, Padfoot, but I think i was taught something similar, tho a different language." James explained, seeing the look on Lily's face. "If I'm not mistaken, spells in different languages have different levels of power. So, say I cast lumos in greek, or something, it might cast a light, but could be brighter or dimmer depending on the language."
"So wait, why weren't we taught this in Hogwarts? This kind of information could have helped us out in the longer term. Especially in a war against a dark lord or two." Lily asked, appalled by her lack of knowledge on the subject.
"Lils, do you really think Dumbledore, Voldy, or the Ministry care about giving either side the upper hand? So long as they win the war, and get fame, they are happy. Then they have to deal with those people after, and why would they ever give them the chance to have spells of above average power? That would just make more work in trying to control them. That is also why Dumbles is the Chief of Wizengamot, head Warlock, and Headmaster. To give him almost complete control over the direction of the future." James explained, looking like he had just realised something. "This will also make us all number one targets for both sides, because the twins are so powerful already, on top of the fact they are Elementals. Padfoots, you don't happen to have an Black knowledge of Elementals, suchs as if one is born, are the rest, or whatnot? Because if there are others that are like Harry and Iris... "
"If my memory serves, and it usually does, if one is born, it is likely that there are two, total. However, if there are two born, within the same area, it is likely to find that all the Elements have a champion in that age. However, I've not read about any rules that apply when one Elemental is Electric. More often than not, the birth order is Air, Water, Earth and Fire. The last Electric was Merlin, and I don't remember there being any other Elementals in that age. However, going by the logic of two born in the same area, in this case, same family, I would assume we can almost count on the rest being born already, if not soon." Sirius replied, thinking back to his growing years. "Usually, if there ARE others born, Fate brings them together, seeing as the Founders of Hogwarts were all Elementals, and more or less fund each other as they travelled, before agreeing to make Hogwarts. And back then magic was richer, so more Elementals were born."
"So, if we assume that there are others born, is there any indication as to when we might run into the others? For some reason, my gut is saying we are in for a big surprise soon, tho that could just be the nerves because of Dumbles. However, since they are probably gonna start school semi soon, and they ain't ever setting foot inside Hogwarts while Dumbles is headmaster, because I don't trust him, he's proven the rumours about him were right. And if he gets his hands on the twins anytime soon, then his magic could overpower theirs, or something. That is how that ritual works right, Padfoot?" James asked, looking almost green with worry. "Oh, and can you send Lord Greengrass a confirmation letter?"
"Why bother sending the letter? He clearly explained in the letter that he was ready to meet as soon as possible. So, why don't you two get ready, then we will head over." Sirius laughed at James' shocked expression, Lily looking bemused at the two of them. "Oh, and might wanna bring the kids, so that Lord Greengrass can see them for himself, so he can decide if this fight is for him as well."
"You sure? If Harry doesn't like someone or something, he tends to lose control. And I don't want to risk injuring them. Considering Harry can already bring Voldy to a standstill, with Iris helping, yes, how much destruction would he bring to an average wizard? And they have a girl themselves, so that's even more dangerous." Lily interjected, looking resigned to having to stay at the house all day.
"Lils, that's exactly why we bring them with us, because if the kids play and become friends, then Lord Greengrass has more reason to help us. We might be among the most influential, but the Greengrasses, they have something we don't: Power. Yes, we have enough money to buy out most families, but Greengrasses don't need to spend money, they have connections even more than the Malfoys. Lils, I'm not sure how much you know of the political scene, but there are three areas you need to have to be as influential as the Greengrasses: Power, magic or connections, Money, and Respect. The Potters are among the richest, and most respected, but have never been among the powerful, they've always helped those less fortunate. The Black are similar, though we don't have respect, we have Fear instead, we deal in secrets, money is second." Sirius explained, looking ready to go. "Now, however, the Potters and Blacks by extension, will be among the Powerful, seeing as Harry and Iris will probably be among the most powerful Magicals in a long time, possibly ever. Nobody actually knows exactly how powerful Merlin was, but it's rumoured he had a limit when it came to transportation. He could summon the biggest storms on record, lightning strikes strong enough to level whole towns and cities, that had Wards against magical attacks. However, he could only transport himself once or twice a day via the lightning strike, depending on distance. He virtually had no magical limits but that one."
"Are you sure, Sirius? Because if Harry ends up being more powerful, then won't the world fear and hate him?" Lily asked, the guy's expressions showing she had just voiced their exact thoughts.
"Yes, but when they prove that they are light wizards, then the world won't have many reasons to fear." Sirius explained. "Anyway, we need to get to the Greengrasses sooner than later, so shall we go now?"
"Yes, I'll go get the twins and make sure they are ready. Unless we have somewhere else to go right now?" Lily replied, looking between James and Sirius.
"I'm just thinking of how we are gonna look if we team up with Greengrasses. Sure, they have more political influence than Malfoys, but the Malfoys have more money. There are only two houses that have more money than the Malfoys, Potters and Blacks, but no offence SIrius, the Blacks have kinda lost reputation since they haven't been in the political ring for a while. Potter's have always been known to be in the Light, allied with Longbottoms, Bones, and Abbotts, the Greengrasses aren't light, they're grey. It doesn't make any difference to my choice, we are allying with them, we just need to be ready for the fall out, seeing as Dumbles will try to drag us through mud. We need to send out letters or something to our allies letting them know the situation, and meet up eventually. I'd say invite the Weasleys, but the only Weasleys not willing to suck Dumbles off is Arthur and the twins. Sadly, Arthur is definitely whipped, and the twins are too young to make their own decisions. They don't particularly listen to Molly, but unless Arthur were to go around Molly's back, the Weasleys are out of this. We need to see what other families in the grey we can get to our cause. We need to prove that Dumbles isn't actually a Light family. We will need to bring up a whole bunch of stuff with the Greengrasses. Just trying to think of ways to minimise how DUmbles can rebound this on us negatively, seeing as we all know how manipulative he can be." James said, sitting down, looking far older than he should've. "Anyway, before I can continue, grab the twins, and let's go see the Greengrasses."
"Hey, mate, everything is gonna be ok. Look, the Blacks might not have the reputation they had, however, our 'currency' still does. The Blacks never worked in money, we've always paid in secrets, blackmail so to speak. It's part of where our name comes from, other than the kind of magic we created." Sirius replied, trying to help remove the worry emanating from his brother. "Anyway, I'll floo call the Greengrasses and make sure they can see us, or if we have to postpone to another day."
"Alright, while you do that, James and I will make the twins presentable, and be down as fast as possible. We will try to let them know how important this meeting is, however, they are still babies, so we can't really make them behave." Lily said, as she kissed James, and pulled him towards the sounds of laughter and electrical popping. "Sounds like they're awake anyway, so even if we wanted to, we couldn't leave them here."
James, amused with his wife, seemingly now more amused by the sounds coming from where the twins were than worried about the future, smiled and laughed, though it sounded a bit forced. Here a rather loud pop, they rushed, wanting to see how much destruction was happening, or if the twins were simply amusing themselves. As they opened the door, the way attack by a gust of wind that died down around them, though the maelstrom did not subside itself, seeming to recognize that the parents were not to be affected by it. As they fully entered, as they had been pushed back by the wind originally, they saw that Iris was floating in the center of a spherical hurricane, with Harry's lighting holding up a metal plate with silver cups and utensils floating around him. As they neared the twins, they noticed that Iris's eyes were pure white, while Harry's seemed to be a glowing white, with a random pulse flashing momentarily. As soon as Lily got within 7 feet of Harry, the lightning stopped, and he spun giggling, floating into Lily's arms, who caught him in shock, while Iris shot like a cannonball at James, who out of pure instinct caught her, yelping in shock at the speed in which she moved.
"Hey, Lils, did you see their eyes?"
"Yeah, kinda freaked me out, but really cool at the same time. It almost feels like they might have more power already, but I've never had a good sense of reading magical power without casting a spell."
"Well, they were already powerful enough to go toe to toe with Voldemort, even if it was just primal instinct guiding them. If they are already showing that they can control it to this degree without instruction, I think it might be less that they are more powerful, but more controlled."
"Honestly James, they feel more powerful, and I can't read power properly. I really want to spell test them, because if their cores are already getting bigger we will need to find a school sooner, or at least start training them to control as soon as possible. But, we can't now, because we need to get them ready for the Greengrasses."
Meanwhile at the Greengrasses…
"Hun, there is a man in the fireplace by the name of Lord Black looking to talk to you. He says it's vitally important to talk at your earliest convenience, and that you had said to call whenever." Call out a beautiful witch, not much older than James or Lily. Hearing a positive affirmation called back, she looked back at the fireplace, "I do sincerely hope this is important, for this is one of the few days Lord Greengrass has to eat breakfast with his family."
"Lady Greengrass, this meeting is about the future of the wizarding world as a whole, not just Great Britain. Also, we will have to bring the Potters twins over, I hope you don't mind. They should be roughly the same age as your own daughter. Would you be ok if they meet?" Said the face in the fireplace, also known as Sirius Black.
"Um, I will have to check with my husband, because our daughter has been having a lot of uncontrolled magical outbursts. Whenever her emotions go wild, things tend to get really weird." She replied, looking a bit uncomfortable.
"Do you mind if I ask, what exactly do you mean by 'gets really weird?' Because I think I may know what you're talking about, but if that's the case, the twins will definitely have to come over." Sirius stated, before looking back and shouting something. "Actually, I'm just gonna say it, because I'm being bitched at by James and Lily, do things freeze or get wet, maybe the ground or plants seem to change, or get really hot, like burning hot?"
"How did you know? Have you been spying on us?" Adorabella yelled, looking like she was about to cut the call.
"No, the twins have something similar, just none of those in particular, you will see when we get there. But trust me, this meeting is vital." Sirius called out, as fast as he could. Then looked behind him, nodded, and came through without warning, quickly followed by James and LIly, each holding one of the twins.
"Sorry about coming in unpronounced, however it's important to explain this before the kids start acting up. They aren't normal, same as your own. Is there anywhere outside we can have this meeting, it's the safest bet to do it outside, where the least destruction can occur." Sirius hastily explained, looking for a door outside.
"You realise how uncouth this is, Lord Black, simply barging into another Manor without welcome? I do so hope you have a reason for this." Called a male voice from behind Adorabella, causing the group of visitors to jump slightly, and the twins' powers to act up slightly, feeling the tension. Everyone in the room feeling the power emanate from the twins, it was silently and very quickly decided to bring the meeting outside, so nothing important could be destroyed.
As they got outside, the weather turned very dark, rain clouds appearing from nowhere, causing Florian to curse, and rush in to grab his daughter, and bring her with him to keep her calm. As soon as the girl was brought outside both Pooter twins' powers acted up, lightning striking the ground within a hundred feet while the wind around the group picked enough to look like a tornado had chosen to surround the group. As the twins' powers acted up, so did the girls, causing it to start to downpour, causing a veritable storm to start, the lightning strikes getting more and more frequent and powerful as the wind and rain increased. Then just as it started, everything stopped, and the kids started to float upwards, much to the worry of the adults who were getting ready to catch them, should they start to fall. However, just out of arm's reach, the kids stopped rising, and started to float around each other, their eyes glowing. After what seemed like hours, but in reality was probably only fifteen or twenty seconds, the kids slowly returned to the ground, like nothing ever happened, giggling and smiling broadly.
"What the hell was that?" Florian said as he pulled out his wand, and pointed it at the group of visitors, who in all this had not once appeared surprised or concerned.
"Put down your wand, Lord Greengrass, we will explain." Lily replied, grabbing both Sirius and James' hands to stop them pulling their wand. "Our children are Elementals, and by the looks of it, so is your daughter. Harry and Lily were born with enough power they brought Voldemort to a standstill at just one year of age, only days ago. I presume to say, you own daughter was born with more power than most magicals would ever achieve by the time they die?"
"Yes, our Daphne was born with more power than me and my husband combined, at around 3500. We haven't tested her recently, but it seems that her power has grown, because when she was born, she could only use her power to cause a minor rainfall, nothing even close to what we just witnessed. Top that off with, she would pass out after doing that, and now she seems to have even more energy than before she did that!" Adorabella replied, forcing her husband to put his wand away. "I know the spell myself, I was gonna test Daphne soon anywhere, would you like to test Harry's and Iris's as well?"
"Yes, absolutely, I had actually been wanting to do that since I walked in on an absolute show in the twins room before bringing them here." LIly replied, looking relieved. She might have known the spell, but she couldn't properly cast it, she had never been very good at Soul magic spells, even the most basic ones.
Nodding, Adorabella directed the Potters to arrange the kids in a line, so she could cast the spell one after another, besides her own. After seeing the kids in a line, she cast the spell, not paying attention to the result, and repeated it on the next two kids. Hearing a gasp, she looked at her daughters, saw a glowing 3650 above, which she was surprised by, but not as surprised to see the numbers above the twins. Iris had a 3679, which was as surprising as the number above Harry. He has the highest number she had seen, just under Merlin's own level, a solid 3862. After seeing the display however, the amount of power shown in that minute and a half, everything came to scale, and realisation washed over her.
"Holy shit, how many Elementals were born together?" She asked, before collapsing.
