AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hello everyone! I have recently watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre and for some reason decided to start a story for that fandom. I have four complete chapters so far and chapter five is almost finished, but I have decided only to post the very first chapter to see how it goes. I will continue working on this story for my very own benefit, but I have come to the decision to only post more chapters if readers seem to enjoy the story and wish to read more. But be aware that updates may be few and far between due to other projects and work. Enjoy!
-Chapter One-
"Who's that movin' into Sally Ann's place? They goin' to be trouble?" Hoyt questioned his ma and pa from his spot on the front porch of their old plantation house.
Across the field was a small single story cottage that once belonged to Sally Ann Thornton, a good friend of Luda Mae Hewitt, Hoyt's mother. Sally Ann had recently passed away from a stroke, taking the sixty-four year old out in her sleep. Luda Mae waved her paper fan at her face to cool the sweat threatening to break out along her skin from the Texas heat. She squinted her eyes behind wide framed glasses in the direction of her late friend's place that sat just beyond the field. A pale yellow car sat in the drive, but the woman could not make out much else because of the distance.
"I don't know, Hoyt, why don't you go an' see," Luda Mae ordered, frowning deeply at the thought of some stranger making home-like in Sally Ann's cottage.
Slapping the brim of his tan sheriff's hat against his uniform pants leg, Hoyt shot his ma a grin.
"Go on then, boy," Monty voiced sternly at his eldest son from his wheelchair nearby, the heat was annoying, but it was slightly cooler out on the porch than inside the large house.
"Alright, alright," Hoyt murmured, hopping off of the porch and climbing into his patrol car.
It took him less than five minutes to drive from his family's plantation house to Sally Ann's small cottage. He pulled to a stop behind the pale yellow car parked at the front of the cottage and Hoyt noted the Georgia license plate.
"Got ourselves a Georgia peach," Hoyt stated, chuckling as he pushed his aviator sunglasses further up the bridge of his nose before stepping out of his patrol car.
The front door opened and out stepped a pretty little brunette clad in a pink and raspberry floral ankle length summer dress, his eyes focusing on her bare feet and the bright purple polish coating petite toes. He followed long legs upward to curved hips, a slim waist and ample breasts before pausing at rosy luscious lips that curled up into a smile. Hoyt swallowed as he finally met large doe eyes the shade of green moss fresh after a rainstorm.
"Well I'll be. Hoyt Hewitt, is that you?" The gorgeous brunette asked with a laugh and he suddenly found his arms full of the woman who smelled of pear blossoms and citrus.
"Riley Abernathy?" Hoyt choked out, his arms tightening around a slim waist as her arms threatened to cut off his air supply.
She gave another laugh as she drew away, his hands slipping away from her waist as he peered down at the little girl turned woman that he and his younger brother used to play with all those summers ago. The top of her head barely brushed his chin once her feet were back on solid ground.
"It's so good to see you again, Hoyt," Riley stated, her smile soft. "And look at you, you're a sheriff now. I knew you could do it."
He was grinning, that much he was sure of. Fumbling with his sheriff's hat, he tugged it off before pushing his sunglasses up to rest on top of his head. No need in telling her how he got the position.
"Sweet Jesus, Riley, did you grow up mighty fine," Hoyt voiced teasingly, his hazel orbs scanning over her sweet body once more.
She swatted at him with a laugh.
"Oh stop it. How's ma and pa Hewitt? What about Tommy and Henrietta? Is everyone doing okay?" Riley asked and Hoyt found himself being led up the front porch of the cottage and into the kitchen that opened up to a shared dining and living room.
Hoyt stomped the dirt off of his shoes before stepping into the doorway, knowing how his mama would be if she found out he ever walked into a house without doing so. The lashing she would give him…
"They're doin' well enough, all four of 'em. Hen lives out a ways with her baby and Tea. Tommy works down at the slaughter house and pa stays at home with ma working occasionally at the family store," Hoyt stated, sitting down at the round dining table as Riley moved around the kitchen pouring up two glasses of lemonade.
"Henny had a baby? That's wonderful. Is it a boy or a girl? How old are they?" Riley asked, smiling widely as she caught up with one of her childhood friends.
Hoyt chuckled, accepting the tall glass of iced lemonade.
"It's a girl and she's a little over a year old now. You should come over for dinner tonight. Ma and pa will be wantin' to see you and I'm sure I can get Hen and Tea to come over. Tommy should be home after a while as well," Hoyt said before taking a large gulp of the sweet and tangy liquid.
"Alright, it'll be nice seeing everyone after all this time," Riley agreed.
Hoyt finished half of his drink before motioning with a hand to their surroundings.
"So what are you doin' here, Riley? Are you goin' to sell the place or somethin'?" Hoyt asked solemnly as he traced the rim of his glass, all the while not taking his eyes off of her face.
"Sell? Hoyt, I could never sell Gran's place. Most of my fondest memories were made here," Riley stated, her brows furrowed at the thought of selling the cottage.
Hoyt smiled at that, nodding in understanding.
"I've decided to move here," She admitted, catching him off guard.
"Wha…seriously?" Hoyt questioned, his voice full of disbelief.
She nodded.
"Why the hell for?" Hoyt asked before he could stop himself. "Not that I don't like the idea of you movin' here or anythin'."
"Like I said, most of my fondest memories are here," Riley stated softly, biting her bottom lip before taking another sip of her lemonade. "Does ma and pa still like blackberry pie? I saw some berries out back and thought about baking one."
Hoyt stood up from his seat and finished the rest of his drink and set the empty glass in the sink before removing his sunglasses from his head.
"They'll always like blackberry pie. I best be off then so I can round up everyone and ma can bustle about like always," Hoyt stated, slipping his sheriff's hat back onto his head of blonde hair. "I'll come get ya about six, so don't worry 'bout drivin' over or anythin'."
She got up and followed him to the door where she stopped to watch him climb into his patrol car. Waving him off, she ducked back inside and grabbed a wicker basket. Stepping into a pair of worn brown boots, she stepped off of the porch and headed around back to where she had seen some blackberry briars.

Parking his patrol car out front of the plantation house, Hoyt climbed out with a large grin at his face which caught his parents off guard.
"Y'all won't believe whose back in town and here to stay," Hoyt stated, stepping up onto the front porch. "Little Riley Abernathy is all grown up."
Luda Mae gasped, her fan halting as she stood up.
"My Riley-Bee is back?" Luda Mae asked, cupping a hand over her mouth as she fought on whether to laugh or cry. "Monty, you hear that? Our Riley-Bee is back."
From his wheelchair, Monty nodded with a chuckle.
"It's about time that girl came home. She'll be visitin', I'm sure?" Monty asked his eldest who needed.
"I told her to come to dinner tonight. I'm goin' to go pick up Hen and Tea in a few minutes, sure knows they'll want to see her too," Hoyt stated, hooking his sunglasses to the front of his uniform.
"I have some greens cooking on the stove. I'll pick some potatoes from the garden and we can spare two of our chickens for a fry-up," Luda Mae voiced, already heading into the house.
"Hey, make some of that mac and cheese while you're at it, Ma. Riley loves your mac and cheese," Hoyt called out through the front door and earned a swat on the leg by his father.
Hoyt shared a grin with his pa. His parents doted on Riley every summer, the brunette being the daughter they always wanted in the family.
"And some cornbread," Monty called out, the two men sharing a chuckle when Luda Mae cussed at them from inside the house. "Go on and pick up your cousin and Tea. They'll be able to help your ma in the kitchen. Tommy should be here soon, so he can deal with the chickens."
"Will do, oh and Riley said that she's gonna make you and ma a blackberry pie," Hoyt stated as he made his way back to his patrol car, grinning at the sound of excitement that escape his father.
It was a rare thing these days for the Hewitt family to share in a time of happiness. Hoyt just hoped that Riley stuck around.

Showered and dressed in a light blue summer dress adorn with large violet flowers that flared out at her hips and brushed her ankles, Riley finished putting her hair in a braided crown before stepping into a pair of brown lace-up sandals. Leaving her bedroom, she slipped the cooled pie into a clean basket before covering it with a red and white checkered cloth she had washed earlier. A knock sounded from the front door and she turned to see Hoyt grinning at her through the small square window. Grabbing the basket, she opened the door and Hoyt whistled as he took in her appearance.
"Too much?" Riley asked, brushing a hand down the side of her dress.
"Just enough," Hoyt stated, his grin widening as he shut the door for her and placed a hand at the base of her spine, leading her down the steps and over to the passenger side of his patrol car.
Hoyt wore a nice light green button up shirt tucked into a pair of clean blue jeans with his cowboy boots, his hat and sunglasses missing. She slid onto the seat and held the basket on her lap at Hoyt got in on the driver side and started driving towards the plantation house. He barely managed to bring the car to a stop before Luda Mae was there opening the passenger side door and pulling Riley out and into her arms.
"Oh, how I've missed you, Riley-Bee," Luda Mae cried as Riley returned the hug, being careful of the pie.
"I've missed you too, Mama Lu," Riley whispered, her hug tightening slightly as she smelled the familiar scent of mint and jasmine flowers.
Riley felt the basket being taken from her and glanced up to see Henrietta, a little girl balanced on her hip with her other arm.
"Henny," Riley voiced happily, leaving Luda Mae's hug for the raven pixie. "She's beautiful."
Henrietta giggled, nuzzling Riley's cheek with her own since her arms were full. Hoyt took the basket from Henrietta and passed it on to Luda Mae.
"Come on up here and let me see ya," Monty called out and Riley smiled as she closed the distance between her and the wheelchair bound man.
"Papa, how are you?" Riley whispered, returning the man's hug.
"Good, better now," Monty stated and Riley pulled away at the sound of heavy footsteps coming through the house.
The front door opened and Thomas Hewitt stood in the entrance way, his towering figure taking up most of it. Remembering how small Tommy was growing up and how he always tried to keep up with her and Hoyt's running around the plantation during the summers, Riley beamed.
"Tommy, you're so tall now! You're even taller than Hoyt," Riley exclaimed, hugging the silent man around the waist without hesitation.
"Hug her back, Tommy, it's Riley-Bee. You remember her. She's Sally Ann's granddaughter," Luda Mae explained to her youngest son.
Riley felt the hesitance of Tommy's arms wrapping loosely around her shoulders as if he was unsure of what he was doing. Leaning back, she peered up at him. His shoulder length black hair was slightly disheveled and covered most of the right side of his face. She knew from growing up with him that Tommy suffered from a birth defect, his jaw bone not fully forming in the womb. It forced him to hide behind a leather mask that hooked behind his ears and covering most of his face. Light blue eyes stared right back at her and she smiled before letting the muscular man go.
"Let's head on inside, everyone, dinner is ready," Luda Mae called out, wrapping an arm around Riley's waist and pulling her into the house towards the dining room.
"It smells wonderful in here, Mama Lu," Riley stated and spotted Tea setting out cold drinks on the table. "Auntie!"
"Riley-Bee," Tea, a heavy set woman who lives with Henrietta and used to babysit Riley and the boys, came around the table and engulfed the brunette in a smothering hug that had the young woman laugh.
In the end, Hoyt had to pry Tea's arms off of Riley least she was suffocated. Settling down at the table in between Henrietta and Hoyt, dinner with the Hewitt family proceeded like old times; a lot of over-talking one another, laughter, and catching up on the happenings. Feeling eyes on her, Riley caught Tommy's intense stare and smiled gently at him before placing a saucer with a slice of pie down in front of him. Without a word, the giant ate every bite.
