Hey guys
Welcome to my 9th story. You guys wanted this so you've got it. For those that wanted me to write the borderlands story first I'm sorry but good news I will start the borderlands story later on in the year. Pallet Town will replace the Akomish town where Delsin is from. One more thing, slight spoiler for the ending of Infamous 2. Enjoy.
Prologue
"Do it." A woman said.
The woman wore a simple, grey sleeveless shirt, paired with jeans and shoes. She appears with freezing hands that exhaust cooling winds and her eyes have changed into an icy blue. Her skin was pale. She also has blue eye shadows, and her hair is a very dark blue. Her face was covered with dirt as well as her arms. The woman coughed and cried as a man ran to her and held her up. The man wore a light grey t-shirt with track trousers. He had something shiny on his back that appeared to be a weapon.
"It's ok." The man said.
"No Cole. It's not ok. You made the right choice. Hell even Nix made the right choice. I was… I am scared." The woman said.
Cole stared into her eyes and could see the fear in them.
"I am too Lucy." Cole said.
Lucy looked at him with a surprised look on her face.
"That's the first time you called me by my first name." Lucy said.
"Better late than never." Cole said.
Lucy placed one of her hands on the back of Cole's head. She pulled his head closer to her and she kissed him on the lips. Cole's eye widened at the sudden contact. He had thought of Lucy as more than a friend for a while but he hesitated to say anything. Lucy pulled away and smiled at Cole.
"Lucy." Cole said.
"You don't have to say anything Cole. Trish would've wanted you to move on. I'm just glad I got that out. Do it Cole." Lucy said.
"Goodbye Lucy Kuo." Cole said.
Cole smiled as his hand slowly left her's as he walked toward a gigantic humanoid man who appeared to be made out of molten lava and rocks. Cole grabbed a circular device from his bag. Lightning engulfed his entire body. Then a massive beam of energy shot from the device.
5 years later
"Come on Ash. We don't want to miss the flight." A woman said.
"Ok Mum. Come on Dad!" Ash shouted.
Ash was a 14 year old boy with raven black spikey hair. He wore a red jacket with a white t-shirt and red trackies. He stood around 5ft 3.
"He sure is like you Red." The woman said.
"He sure is Delia." Red said.
They walked to the flight gate they were told to go to and arrived at a checkpoint. There were guards who looked military. Ash and his parents walked to the checkpoint.
"Names?" A guard asked.
"Red Ketchum." Red said.
The guard checked a manifest and saw his name.
"Ok. Master Sergeant Red Ketchum." The guard said as he saluted him.
"At ease." Red said.
"I believe this is your wife Delia and son Ashton." The guard said.
"That's correct." Red said.
"Passports." The guard said.
Delia reached into a bag and pulled them out. She handed them to the guard who inspected them.
"It all checks out. This lane Sergeant. Be sure to place your index finger on the scanner before passing." The guard said.
"Thank you." Red said.
"Come on Ash." Delia said.
"Why does he need to place his finger on a scanner?" Ash asked.
"It is to find those people with powers. All three of us need to do it." Delia said.
"Ok." Ash said.
Red did what the guard said and placed his finger on the scanner. After a few seconds the scanner beeped indicating he could continue. Delia did the same thing and she could continue. Ash placed his finger on the scanner and after a few seconds alarms went off.
"What's going on?" Red asked.
"Warning. Conduit detected." An automated voice said.
"What?" Ash exclaimed.
Red and Delia ran to Ash who was freaking out.
"I'm one of them?" Ash asked.
"Calm down Ash. Everything will be alright." Red said.
"Sir. I'm going have to ask you step away." Another guard said.
"He doesn't have any powers. He can't harm anyone." Red said.
"That may be Sergeant but we need to take him none the less." Guard 1 said.
"He's a kid. He can't harm anyone." Delia said.
"He'll be in good hands Mrs Ketchum." Guard 1 said.
"No. I won't let you take him." Delia said.
"There's nothing that we can do. Come on Ashton." Guard 3 said.
"No." Ash said.
Red and Delia blocked Ash from view.
"Please don't make this hard." Guard 2 said.
"Give me a reason not to." Red said.
"Sergeant Ketchum. We're just doing our jobs." Guard 1 said.
"He won't hurt anyone for no reason. Ask anyone in our hometown." Red said.
"I wish I could help you but orders are to put Bioterrorists into custody." Guard 2 said.
"My son is no terrorist." Red said.
"I'm sorry Sergeant. Orders are orders. You of all people should know that." Guard 3 said.
"Delia, Ash… run." Red said.
They ran as Red punched a guard. Red fought a couple of minutes before being trapped in what appeared to be concrete. The guards went and chased Delia and Ash who were already long gone from the airport.
Delia drove the car fast. Ash sat in the seat next to her looking back at the airport.
"Dad will be alright won't he?" Ash asked.
"He will." Delia said.
"Where are we going?" Ash asked.
"We need to get you as far away from the D.U.P as possible. They will lock you up if we're caught." Delia said.
1 hour later
Delia and Ash arrived in Pallet town which was located not too far from the city of Seattle. Delia and Ash got out of the car and into their house. Ash saw his 17 year old brother Satoshi who was confused.
"Mum what's going on?" Satoshi asked.
"Ash is one of those Conduits." Ash said
"What?" Satoshi exclaimed.
"I know. We need to get Ash somewhere safe." Delia said.
"Where's Dad?" Satoshi asked.
"He stayed behind at the airport." Delia said.
"I'll stall the D.U.P. You take him somewhere safe." Satoshi said.
"You will do no such thing Satoshi Ketchum. I'll stall them." Delia said.
"No Mum. You of all people should know that you are 11 weeks pregnant." Satoshi said.
Delia then rubbed her stomach. Ash could see why Satoshi wanted to Delia to take him. As they continued Ash snuck out of the house and ran.
"I'll stall them Mum. You just take Ash and… Ash?" Satoshi asked as he looked around the room.
"Ash!" Delia shouted as they looked around the house.
"Don't tell me he ran off on his own." Delia said.
"Go find him." Satoshi said.
Then the door was kicked down.
"Look all around the house. Where is he?" A D.U.P soldier asked.
"He's gone." Satoshi said.
Meanwhile
Ash ran through the forest that was near Pallet town. As much as he didn't want to, he knew he had to keep going. He could hear the sirens as he ran deeper into the forest. As he continued he fell down a small ledge and landed onto the ground. He screamed as the bones in his arm broke. He held his arm in pain. He went to stand up but he could hear someone running towards him.
"Is anyone there!?" Someone shouted.
Ash didn't want to answer since the person could be a D.U.P soldier.
"I heard you scream. I'm here to help." The person said.
The person ran into the small clearing. It was a chubby man with brown hair. He was wearing a bowling shirt, a shoulder holster which had a revolver inside, and a white undershirt with a flaming pair of dice as its design paired with a black meshed shirt on top of it. He also wore considerably lengthier shorts than normal, and sneakers. The man looked to where Ash was and ran to him but Ash crawled back.
"Hey now. No need to be afraid kid." The man said.
"How do I know you're not part of the D.U.P?" Ash asked.
"Those lying assholes? No way kid. The names Zeke." Zeke said.
"What are you doing?" Ash asked.
"I hacked into D.U.P radio chatter and they identified a conduit that is on the run to this town. My guess that's you isn't it?" Zeke asked.
"Are you here to take me to them?" Ash asked.
"Hell no. I'm here to take you to safety. I lead a resistance against the dups. We help any conduit we can find." Zeke said.
Ash snickered when Zeke said Dups. Ash tried to stand but his arm hurt.
"I think arms broken." Ash said.
"Well let's get you out here and give you medical attention." Zeke said.
"My name's Ash. Ash Ketchum." Ash said.
"Nice to meet you. Let's go." Zeke said as he lifted Ash up onto his feet.
2 hours later
Zeke and Ash arrived to what appeared to be an abandoned building. They entered the building and entered an elevator. When they got down to the bottom floor they were greeted by some of the residents. Zeke guided Ash to the medical room and a doctor came up to them.
"Good to see you Zeke. Another conduit?" The Doctor asked.
"He doesn't have powers but yeah. His name is Ash." Zeke said.
"Nice to meet you Ash. I'm Doctor Smith. What is the problem?" Smith asked.
"My arm. I'm pretty sure it's broken." Ash said.
"Let's have a look." Smith said.
"What is this place?" Ash asked.
"A safe place. This used to belong to the First Sons." Zeke said.
"Who are the First Sons?" Ash asked.
"They were an evil organisation. They researched conduits and way to activate their powers." Zeke said.
"Wow." Ash said.
"This place was a research facility but we use it for keeping conduits safe. Where conduits can live and learn to use their powers. Think of it like that school in X-men." Zeke said.
"I know what you mean. So you'll let me stay here?" Ash asked.
"Of course. We got enough supplies to feed a country." Zeke said.
"He's talking about himself." Smith said with a smirk on his face.
Ash snickered since Smith was on about Zeke's big stomach.
"Screw you." Zeke said.
Then a kid ran into the room and hugged Zeke.
"Uncle Zeke!" The kid shouted.
"Hey Jack. Great to see you buddy." Zeke said.
Jack is a small 4 year kid with black hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue t-shirt with black trousers with blue trainers.
"New conduit?" Jack asked.
"Yep. You go back to your parents. I'll be there soon." Zeke said.
"Ok." Jack said leaving the room.
"Tell me about yourself." Zeke said.
"Ow. Me and my parents were going to go on holiday but you can guess what happened." Ash said.
"Yeah. Any brothers or sisters?" Zeke asked.
"There is my big brother Satoshi and one brother or sister of the way." Ash said.
"Your parents?" Zeke asked.
"Dad is a Master Sergeant in the military. After today most likely he'll be put in prison. He stayed behind at the airport while me and Mum ran." Ash said.
"Is he a conduit?" Zeke asked.
"No. Neither is Mum." Ash said.
"Interesting." Zeke said.
"Ok Ash. I'm going to inject you with this. It will heal the bones in your arm." Smith said.
Smith did that and Ash could feel his arm getting better and the pain was gone.
"Thanks Doc." Ash said.
"No problem." Smith said.
"Come on. I want you to meet someone." Zeke said.
Zeke guided him to a room a couple of floors up and when he opened the door Ash saw someone he did not expect to see.
"Hey brother. Meet our new resident." Zeke said.
"Y-you're Cole Macgrath." Ash said.
"Nice to meet you. I know you already met my son Jack." Cole said.
"I heard you were dead." Ash said.
"Yeah. I thought I was too." Cole said.
"So you already know Cole and Jack, the woman over there is Lucy. Cole's wife." Zeke said.
"Nice to meet you." Lucy said.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Ash." Ash said.
"Good to meet you." Cole said holding out his hand.
Ash grabbed his hand. Suddenly he screamed as lightning engulfed his arm. Flashes appeared in Ash's head as he collapsed.
"What the hell?" Cole asked.
"Zeke. What just happened?" Lucy asked.
"I don't know." Zeke said.
"Find out Zeke." Cole said.
"I'll be back in moment." Zeke said leaving the room.
"Look at the lightning around his body." Lucy said.
"Maybe his powers were active and he didn't realise." Cole said.
"Yeah. They must not react well to yours." Lucy said.
"It doesn't make since. I can't use my powers anymore." Cole said.
Ash groaned as he woke up.
"What happened?" Ash asked.
"That's what we're going to find out." Cole said.
Then Ash zoomed across the room leaving behind a lightning trail behind him.
"What was hell?" Cole asked.
"What was that?" Ash asked.
"Lucy get Jack out." Cole said.
"Got it." Lucy said.
Lucy left with Jack. Ash zoomed around the room multiple times.
"Stop, stop, stop." Ash said.
"Take a deep breath and concentrate." Cole said.
Ash did that and he stopped moving around.
"What is going on?" Ash asked.
"I'm here. Lucy just told me what happened." Zeke said.
"What is that?" Ash asked looking at the small machine next to Zeke.
"This will tell us what is happening. Put these on your arm." Zeke said handing Ash some straps.
Ash put them on and the machine started to making some noises.
"Ok. Let's see what we are dealing with." Zeke said.
After a minute the machine found out what Ash's abilities are.
"Whoa that's interesting." Zeke said.
"What is it Zeke?" Cole asked.
"Well brother, we got a one of a kind conduit right here. It says here that Ash can absorb the abilities of another conduit." Zeke said.
"So he has my powers now?" Cole asked.
"Yes and no. He has lightning powers but you still have yours or lack thereof." Zeke said.
"Basically he can copy powers?" Cole asked.
"When you put it like that then yeah." Zeke said.
"One of a kind indeed." Cole said.
"So I have powers now?" Ash asked.
"Yeah. Although that thing you did, you didn't get that from me. I was never able to do that." Cole said.
"Maybe he has his own unique abilities." Zeke said.
"Maybe." Cole said.
"What did Zeke mean by lack thereof?" Ash asked.
"5 years ago there was a plague which was caused by Ray field radiation. A device called the RFI cured the plague. I used my powers to activate it and when I tried to use it the first time, it nearly killed me, Lucy and an old friend." Cole said.
"So if you used it then how are you still alive?" Ash asked.
"At first I thought Cole and Lucy were dead but they were in comas. When they woke up they couldn't use their power no more. They are still there but they are in a sense paralyzed. Which is kind of ironic for Cole." Zeke said.
"Tell me about it." Cole said.
"So you can't use your powers?" Ash asked.
"No." Cole said.
"Sorry to hear that." Ash said.
"Don't be. I do miss them but it feels nice to be normal again." Cole said.
"Ok. Don't worry about people treating you like a freak. There are a lot of people whose powers are activated. You'll need to learn how to control your powers. When you're ready you use this." Zeke said grabbed a large purple glowing rock.
"What is that?" Ash asked.
"This is a blast core. This thing will be about to give you some new abilities for your powers." Zeke said.
"Cool." Ash said.
"Come on. I'll show you the training area." Zeke said.
Cole watched they left. He had never seen or heard of a power like Ash's. he was snapped out of his thoughts when Lucy came back with Jack.
"Well? What happened?" Lucy asked.
"He can copy a conduits power." Cole said.
"Wow. That's new." Lucy said.
"Yeah. Not that I don't trust him but we need to keep him away from other conduits for now." Cole said.
"I agree." Lucy said.
"Who knows what he can absorb let alone his limits." Cole said.
"What if the power goes to his head?" Lucy asked.
"I'll train him myself. Steer him in the right direction." Cole said.
"Good idea." Lucy said.
Done
I bet you weren't expecting Cole to be alive, married to Lucy and had a son with her. The part where Lucy kissed Cole was not part of the ending for Infamous 2 but I wanted to put that in because why not. I will put a list of the powers Ash will have. For his lightning powers he will most of the same abilities like Cole but some weren't in the previous games. I will put (new) next to the abilities Cole didn't and (old) to the ones he had.
