Chapter 1: A New Sound

(This story takes place 2 years after the main timeline)
Today was any typical day in the Loud House. Tons of noise and tussles coming from the twins, Lori, Leni and Lynn. Lori and Leni move out last year after Lori went to college and Leni got a high paying internship with an out of town Dolce & Gobanna HQ. They made a promise come back home during summer and winter so the family wouldn't miss them too much.
Luna was in her room preparing for an audition for the Royal Woods National Battle Of The Bands. To make sure the noise of the family didn't disturb her, she put on a pair of noise cancelling headphones and strummed her guitar trying to find a new sound. She sat there for hours strumming, freestyling but nothing stuck.

"Uhhh! What's wrong with me today!?" said Luna in an annoyed tone. "Normally a new hit would come to me easy, but I'm totally stuck. Guess I won't be entering the Battle Of The Bands."

She threw her headphones onto her bed when out of nowhere she heard a knock at the door. She went to see who it was and lo and behold it was Lincoln.

"Hey Luna. Everything ok in here? You sounded frustrated." said Lincoln in a concerned tone.

"Hey bro. Yeah, I kinda hit the wall here." said Luna feeling defeated. "But how did you hear me?"

"I was passing by going to check on Leni. Walls are pretty thin remember."

"Oh yeah. I keep forgetting."

"Anything I can help with?"

"Dude, at this point I'll need all the help I can get. The Battle Of The Bands audition is 2 days from now and I still can't find a tune."

"Well maybe we could work something out if put our heads together."

Lincoln let himself in Luna and Luan's room and took a seat on the bed. Luna started strumming randomly trying to find something that stuck. Unfortunately, he efforts were unfruitful. She let out a weary sigh.

"This is hopeless. I might as well forget it." Luna said ashamed.

"Hold on Luna, I think I know what's missing." Lincoln said.

"What's that? Talent? Cause I'm pretty sure I'm tapped out right now."

"What are you talking about? You're the most talented person in the house. You're just in a rough patch."

"Well aren't you the charmer." Luna said jokingly. "So, what's the man with the plan thinking now?"

He walked over to the drum set she had there, grabbed the sticks and took a seat behind them.

"Maybe we should start with a beat, then work on the chords later."

Upon saying that, Lincoln started playing. He played a simple but infectious beat on the drums. Luna was surprised to say the least. Her little brother who had no prior interest in playing music, was drumming like a natural. She couldn't help but headbang to the amazing beat she was hearing.

"Lincoln, that was AMAZING!" Luna said excitedly. "I had no idea you could or even want to play drums."

Lincoln blushed and said, "Thanks. But I have only you to thank for that."

"Me? What do you mean?" Luna asked confused.

"I know how much music means to you. I can feel the passion in your songs and it inspired me to learn. To be totally honest; I wanted to surprise you someday with the progress I made. Guess today's the day. Hehehe." Lincoln said rubbing the back of his head blushing.

Hearing this made Luna blush a bit. Her heart also started pounding a bit.

"W-what going on? Why am I feeling like this so suddenly?" Luna thought to herself.

Lincoln say her acting a bit strange, so he called out to her.

"Luna? Luna, you good?"

"Huh? Y-yeah dude, I'm good. In fact, I think I found a tune to go with it."

"Alright then, let's get started."

Lincoln started drumming the same beat. Luna, listening to the beat, started strumming her axe with a new found passion. The chemistry between the two budding musicians was undeniable. Everyone in the house stopped in their tracks and listened to the melody produced by them and couldn't help but dance. Even Lucy had to join in. When the two stopped playing, they both jumped in fright at the unexpected applause and cheering from the opened door.

"Encore! Encore! Encore!" the family chanted in unison.

"Woah! When did you guys get here? And since when was the door open?" Luna asked still in shock from the surprise standing ovation.

"About 2 minutes. And boy did we get a show." said Lynn.

"Yeah. Who knew Lincoln was such a Alex Van Halen." Lori said rather impressed.

"I know right. This little dude can drum like a pro. Why don't you join us in the Battle Of The Bands Linc?" Luna suggested hoping he'll say yes.

"Well... if it's for you then sure."Lincoln responded with a slight tint in his cheeks.

"OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" Luna screamed as she hugged him.

This left Lincoln with a beet red face from embarrassment and an exhausted look since Luna squeezed the air out of him. Everyone was excited at the thought of watching Lincoln and Luna crush it on the stage to say the least. However, the excitement died down as dinner had to be made. Everyone had their fill of the all time favorite "Lynnsagna" with a steamed vegetable medley and got ready for bed. While everyone else was tucked in and catching z's, Luna was up listening to her recording from earlier and writing lyrics with a new found vigor. She couldn't help but think about brother's legendary performance. Her thoughts strayed to him so much that her lyrics almost sounded like a love confession to her brother. Luckily she wrote in pencil so editing was easy. After writing the final verse, she decided to make a quick trip to the bathroom before sleeping. On her way back she heard something coming from down the hall. She followed it tiptoeing so no one would be alarmed. That's when she realized it was coming from Lincoln's room. She heard him singing something. It sounded like a love song.

'Aww. My little bro's got a crush.' Luna thought to herself. 'Whoever she is, she's pretty lucky.'

She decided to hear it out to the end, but she got an earful more than she expected. He was singing about a girl, but not just any girl. He was singing about...

'Me?' Luna thought surprised at what he heard. 'He wrote a love song about me?'

After singing his song he laid back in his bed and sighed.

"Who am I kidding? Why would she ever consider me? I'm her brother. If I told her how I felt, she'd think I'm a creep and hate me for the rest of my life. Hugh! Why did the most amazing girl in the world have to be my sister? Is this some sick trick God is playing on me?"

Luna couldn't believe how deep his feelings were. Nor could she imagine the anxiety he must feel for have such forbidden feelings. But most of all, she couldn't believe how amazing that made her feel. Not even her ex Sam made her feel this loved. Painted with a new coat of pink and a shy smile, Luna went back to her and Luan's room. However she wouldn't be in bed sleeping. Rather she'd be up all night putting her finishing touches on the sing she wrote earlier, and now will full dedication write another one. A song that would resonate with the crowd and who it was about.
