Author's Note: Hey there, I just wanted to say I was slightly inspired by re-watching Fate Stay Night UBW, the moment when Shirou visited Fuyuki Park? (I'm unsure) and mentioned how he failed to save someone. Just wanted to state that before you read. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the story.

As the fire crackled and burned everything around them, a young boy with auburn hair, slowly walked with a young girl with shoulder-length dark mahogany red hair on his back. Despite taking heavy steps, the boy continued moving forward.

.

"Big brother?" The young girl with dark mahogany hair spoke as she opened her eyes, only to see the disaster in front of her. "What…."

"Haru…" Haru's older brother spoke. "Just hold on, I'll protect you. I promise yo-" But as the young boy spoke, he fell forward along with his sister.

.

As he fell forward, a broken piece of the ground that stuck up in the air shattered and fell towards the children. Due to the ground being moist and soft, the weight of the rock simply pushed the two children into the ground.

Feeling her world darken, Haruna's vision continued to fade from black to white. Even after seeing the stone removed from above her and a man in a black trench coat just above her, she did not have enough strength to keep her eyes open.

Despite her eyes being closed, Haruna saw a warm light shine through her darkened vision. Seeing this light, she extended her hand out to grab it only to see…the roof of a hospital room, and despite feeling something wrap around her right eye, the young girl didn't even flinch. As she rose from her bed, Haruna looked around to see other children speaking amongst each other, one of which was her brother.

Seeing her up, a boy who was talking to Haruna's brother pointed towards the young girl.

.

"Shirou." Was all the boy had to say in order to get the young boy named Shirou to look behind him.

"Haruna!" Shirou exclaimed as he rushed to the young girl's side.

"Big brother…what happened?" But before Shirou could answer, a man with dark black hair and a long black trench coat approached the two children.

"Hey, there you two." The man spoke with a scared yet brave tone. "I have a question for you both: Do you wish to go to an orphanage or got with a man you barely know?" He smiled weakly as he looked at both Shirou and Haruna.

.

Shirou gave his answer right away by pointing at the man, but Haruna hesitated. As Shirou looked at Haruna, he gave a worried expression.

.

"Haruna…are you alright?" Looking at Shirou, the young boy noticed Haruna's gaze. It was gaze that he never noticed on her before. Then looking at the man before her, she took in a deep breath, and exhaled deeply.

"I'll go with you." She answered.

.

Opening his mouth with joy, the man quickly knelt down besides Haruna's hospital bed and began to pack whatever he could. But before he did anything else, he nodded to himself and looked back at the two children.

.

"I just wanted to tell you that…I'm a mage." While Shirou was not shocked by what the man said, Haruna's eyes widened with shock as she looked at the man before her.

"A mage." She whispered to herself as she looked at the man she would now call "father."

.

3 months after being rescued...

.

Aside from her weakened body, doctors told Kiritsugu that Haruna would not live another month, but she still proved them otherwise. This was mostly due to the fact that, and without letting Shirou know, Haruna's family was that of a mage family.

.

"I see, so you know a thing or two about mages, Haruna." Kiritsugu spoke to the young girl as she looked out her room and at the scenery of people working to get the house built.

"That is correct, and despite my looked I'm actually 5 months younger than Shirou." Haruna's monotonous voice spoke as she continued looking out.

"When I first got you two, I thought you were siblings, but…I have to ask, why call him 'big brother'?"

"Because he's bigger than me." Haruna responded as she looked towards her father. "Can you teach me more magecraft?"

"I can, but you have to promise not to teach Shirou any more than what I teach him, understood?" Haruna nodded as she looked at Shirou working along with the other adults around him.

"Did you have children of your own?" Haruna asked without a second thought.

"I did. But…I can never see her again." Kiritsugu replied as he looked down at his hands.

"Then I'll save her." Haruna answered as Kiritsugu looked at the young girl, who only looked at him without any hint of fear. "I'll save her even if you die. I'll continue saving her, but I have to know where she is."

"She's in Germany, with the Einzberns'." Acknowledging Kiritsugu's words, Haruna began to write.

"Send this to them." Haruna ordered Kiritsugu as she passed on what she wrote. "Make sure it gets to her, and her alone."

"I'll try." Kiritsugu vaguely promised the young girl before her as he took the letter.

"I promise you that I'll save her. No matter what." Smiling lightly at her savior, Haruna once again looked out towards the blue sky. "Mm. I'll definitely save her."
