(A/N) Miss me? For those who haven't read Family Means Nobody Gets Left Behind, or Lilo n Stitch for short, go read that or none of this will make sense. I'm serious. Still here/back? Cool, let's go. If you're curious, yes, all of the books in this series will be named like this, after a movie. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and happy holidays to everyone. Count this as a present from me. I hope you have a wonderful day! Keep an eye out for a Scarves Hide Scars update and another new fic(It'll only be on Ao3, under Flux_Uchiha, wink wink nudge nudge)!
Mito faced the Hokage patiently, waiting for him to be done mucking around with the teams. They were here to see who would be the sensei of the teams formed by the current graduating class, but something had apparently come up, and the teams had to be reorganized somewhat. Something about a case of bullying among the civilian girls.
The Hokage finally tapped the papers on the table, gaining the attention of the present jounin.
"The teams have been set," he said calmly, collecting the folders that held the files of the students.
"That is why we're here," Mito remarked under her breath. The jounin next to her, Asuma Sarutobi, huffed quietly under his breath in amusement.
"Mito Uzumaki, you have team 7, comprised of Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke, and Uzumaki Naruto." Mito smiled. She could work with that. Even if she'd have to see if Itachi would ask Sasuke not to cause too much trouble for her. He was still salty about his brother and Cousin(although less for poor Shisui) moving to Uzushio. She didn't know Sakura personally, as the girl was the child of two chuunin, but she knew she had her work cut out for her from Naruto. Her guppy had often complained about how she and the other fangirls 'didn't like him and only liked the Sasuke-teme' in his words.
"Well, I have Ino-Shika-Cho junior," Asuma sighed. "Not surprised."
"No one is," Mito told him. What she was surprised about, was Kakashi having a team, and one made of two clan heirs and a third from the main family, although not the direct heir. It was a tracking team though, so he might actually enjoy teaching them. Maybe he'd finally not fail a team. Well, he'd kind of have to, given the Hyuuga heir was in his team, it was likely he wouldn't be given a choice but to pass them.
When Mito picked Naruto up from the academy that afternoon, she wasn't inordinately surprised to find him bursting at the seams with energy.
"I totally nailed my exam!" He cheered loudly, pointing at the forehead protector currently wrapped around his head. "I passed with flying colors! Whatever that means."
Mito chuckled, patting his head. "Good job Naruto, I'm glad you passed. And passing with flying colors just means you did very well."
Naruto nodded with the look that meant he was storing the information away in his head like a little squirrel. She found the way he stored information like a squirrel hoarding nuts rather amusing but encouraged it.
"I can make ramen tonight to celebrate," Mito added, knowing he'd pester about it. "Tomorrow, if you're still not full of ramen, we can go to lunch at Ichirakus and tell them about the news."
Naruto cheered again, punching the air happily. "Yes! You're the best Kaa-san!"
Mito laughed, patting his head, glad she was still a bit taller than him, and able to do that still. "Of course. Now come on, we need to get started if we're going to make it."
Naruto nodded really fast, in the way that meant he was more excitable than a squirrel that had found more nuts then it knew what to do with.
He paused suspiciously after a moment. "Waaait, weren't the jounin sensei pickings today? Did you get a team!? Who are they who are they!"
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that," Mito replied easily. "You'll have to find out tomorrow. I'll pick you up for lunch and make sure you get back in time to know who your jounin sensei is."
"Don't they tell us our teams beforehand?" Naruto asked suspiciously.
"They do," Mito agreed. "But not what jounin is your sensei. You find that out after lunch when all the Jounin arrive to pick you up for the afternoon."
"Don't wanna wait that long!" Naruto complained.
"You'll live," Mito replied evenly. "Now come on, we have dinner to make." Ah, he'd be in for a surprise when he got told who his jounin sensei was. Not that he wouldn't be ecstatic over it. Perhaps it'd even perk him up after being assigned the two people in class that didn't particularly like him.
Naruto, despite clearly being mildly annoyed about not getting to know who was teaching him, helped enthusiastically with dinner, finishing up his chores quickly afterward.
"You should sleep," she suggested mildly. "Your teacher will likely test you tomorrow, I'd suggest being rested for that."
Naruto puffed out his cheeks, but thankfully didn't protest, wandering off to do his nightly routine, and leaving Mito to settle in and consider how to test them.
Naruto intended on going into seals just as she was, but she wasn't sure about Sasuke and Sakura. Honestly, their files said very little about what they intended on going into, noting only that Sasuke was top of the class in Taijutsu and weapons, and Sakura had the best chakra control out of all of them.
It left multiple options open for both of them, Sasuke would likely go in either the taijutsu, shurikenjutsu, or maybe just straight-up ninjutsu, while Sakura had a wider option base.
It really depended on how good her chakra control was, but she could easily be a medic, or if she was more fighting inclined, go the Tsunade route and be a taijutsu expert, using massive strength to destroy any opponent. Genjutsu was also a good option, and if the girl was smart and learned fast, she could be truly fearsome in ninjutsu. As long as she had the drive, she could really do anything she wanted.
If she didn't have the drive, or simply wasn't up to the task, which Mito sincerely hoped she was, her test scores from the academy promised she'd be a good desk ninja. Not a glamorous occupation, but one that paid the bills and was relatively danger-free. As danger-free as a shinobi occupation could be, anyway.
She could hear Naruto pacing in his room, and sighed lightly. She really should've expected this, he never slept well if he was anticipating something, whether it be a test or a holiday. She really hoped he went to bed soon though, he'd want the sleep.
If anything, she was honestly more concerned about Kakashi and his team. The infamous bell test wasn't exactly the best for testing what was clearly intended to be a tracking team. With a Hyuuga, an Inuzuka, and an Aburame, they were going into tracking. While all three clans also had very combat-focused members, they were also all famously tracking clans, extremely good at hunting down their prey. With Kakashi and his dogs at the lead, Mito had no worry that they'd be an excellent team.
Kakashi just had to get over his allergy to people.
Well, not people specifically, but more like interacting with them outside of a mission. He also had to get over his horrible fear of teaching anybody anything.
In the morning, Mito packed Naruto off to school, despite his protests, and then wandered off to find Ichiraku. If she was going to bring Naruto there, the least she could do was give them a heads up. They'd appreciate it.
"Mito-hime, haven't seen you in a while," Teuchi greeted her cordially.
"Indeed," she replied fondly. "However I am not here to eat, that will be later. I figured you would appreciate a heads up that I'll be bringing Naruto here for lunch."
Teuchi laughed. "Ah yes, thank you Hime, your warning is much appreciated. Should I assume today's the day?"
Mito smiled, sliding into one of the seats. "Yes. He is quite excited, even if I refuse to tell him who his jounin sensei is."
Teuchi eyed her for a long moment, then grinned. "It's you isn't it."
Mito smirked. "Perceptive as ever. Yes, I am to be his sensei."
Teuchi smiled. "Do well by him. I trust you will teach him well."
"I thank you for your vote of confidence," Mito agreed. "I believe I will have a bowl of ramen while I wait though, if you don't mind."
"Of course Mito-hime."
Mito never had managed to stop him from calling her that, and had given up a while ago. He wasn't going to stop, and she had to accept that. She knew when something was a lost cause. Especially after marrying Hashirama and living with Madara and Tobirama for several years.
(A/N) To anyone who wants to guess, the third book of this series will actually be nicknamed Princess Bride, so if anyone wants to guess the quote used for that title, be my guest. I hope you enjoyed!
