Lily had walked in from yet another disappointing day at work. Her boss, a District Attorney, had noticed that Lily was having a little bit of an attitude issue and Lily knew it too.

As she sat on her couch, her mind kept going to the stories of Della Street, Perry Mason's secretary and how she didn't seem to have the same issues that Lily was currently having.

"Alright, I'll do it."

Lily said with determination as she sat down to pen her letter to her hero.

Dear Della Street,

Hi, my name is Lily Johnson and I'm a secretary for a District Attorney. I've heard about your work with Perry Mason and how you two are such a wonderful team.

I've been in a rut these past few weeks, yes I'm happy coming into work. But I don't seem to be showing it in how I present myself. My boss says that I should do something about it and I just don't know what.

Have you ever come into work feeling the way I have? If so, what have you done to change that? I wish I could be more specific but I… It's hard.

I want to thank you for your time in reading this. You've been such an example to me and a lot of my fellow secretaries. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thank you,

Lily Johnson

PS: We share the month of April for our birthday month. My birthday's on the 9th.

PPS: What's your favorite color? Mine's pink.

Lily nodded and placed the letter in the envelope and prepped it to send to Perry Mason's office in the Brent Building as she smiled after placing it in the mailbox by her apartment building.

A few days later,

It had been an unusually disappointing day for Della Street when she walked into her apartment with Lily's letter in one hand, and her daily mail in the other as she sat at her kitchen table staring at the letter with a frown.

"Oh, might as well."

Della sighed as she opened the letter as she felt her disposition change almost instantly as she read the sweet letter which was laced with questions on how to change the girl's attitude at work.

Dear Lily,

I'm so glad you decided to reach out to me with your letter. This is a first for me.

Now with your question on how to change your attitude in the office. Have you been overworked recently? I notice that when I'm overworking, my attitude goes sour.

As I'm writing this letter to you, today was one of those days for me. I was happy to be at work, like you, but I just couldn't shake this agitated feeling. But in reading your letter, it made a world of difference and I hope that my letter does the same. Keep your head up, Lily. Things will work out, I know it.

I very much appreciate your letter and I hope you appreciate mine. I hope things work out for you and I hope we get to meet in person one day. I'd love to meet you.

Have a good day,

Della Street

PS: Aw, that's super sweet that we share April as our birthday month. Mine's the 18th.

PPS: You put a smile on my face when you said that your favorite color was pink. That's my favorite color too!
