Chapter 1
You've heard of it, haven't you? The legend of Sparda? When I was young, my father would tell me stories about it. Long ago, in ancient times, a demon rebelled against his own kind for the sake of the human race. With his sword, he shut the portal to the demonic realm and sealed the evil entity off from our human world. But since he was a demon himself, his power was also trapped on the other side. I never believed it. I thought it was just a child's fairy tale. I discovered that the so-called legend wasn't a myth at all. Sparda existed. How do I know? Well... I met the sons of Sparda - Both of them. Though the same blood of their father flow through their veins, the two battled each other fiercely like arch enemies. It seems as if they drive some twisted pleasure from this brotherly fighting. But in the end... only one was left standing.

Dante stood in the library of temni gru looking through books and each time he didn't find the one he wanted he cursed and threw it over his shoulder.
"This is going to be the one" he said as he picked up a book and saw it was not the one he wanted "fuck!" he then threw it across the room but when he didn't hear it hit the floor he turned.
A bald man with a nasty scar across the side of his face stepped out of the shadows "So, you're looking for the book of ancient legends. The tale of the demon warrior Sparda. "
Dante lied "no I'm not..leave me alone baldy"
The man replied "Then what ARE you looking for? A demon that impregnates a woman, who then bears twin sons... That's the story, isn't it?"
Dante pulled out his gun pointing it at him "I told you jackass leave me alone I won't say it again"
The man responded with "People inherently fear evil. However... occasionally, a person may become seduced by evil."
Dante sarcastically snored "there a point to this?" he asked
The man then said "Share with me. The story of Sparda... "
Dante sighed leaving the room.

In an extremely neat and tidy office a phone began to ring on a desk. A man stepped out half dressed with his hair wet and his shirt half open.
The man answers the phone "apologies not open for business just yet" he said before putting the phone down "I've yet to pick a name for the place let alone take any jobs" he said sitting down and picking up a book he left open on the desk.
A bald man enters the office.
The white haired man sighs not looking up from his book "perhaps you missed the sign on the door ..we're closed"
The man spoke "is your name Vergil? Son of sparda?"
Vergil looked up from his book "who are you and where would you have heard that?"
The man looked down at the amulet hanging from Vergil's neck and replied "from your brother.. He sends this invitation to you..please accept it" he says before flipping the desk as Vergil jumped up flipping in the air over his desk and summoned his sword Yamato in his hand as he landed.
Vergil looked around the room but the man had vanished "only an invitation from Dante could come like that" he said as he caught his book in his hand.
Just then demons appeared out of nowhere and all of them stabbed Vergil with their scythes.
Vergil grunted as each scythe pierced his flesh.
As one of the demons looked up at Vergil, Vergil suddenly pushed his palm into the demon's chest, sending it flying into the wall as the demon turned to dust while Vergil caught the head in his hand and crushed it.
Vergil walked forward with the scythes still embedded in him he pulled one of the blades out of his chest and threw it up at the air fan and instead of picking up Yamato he picked up his book and placed it upon a stand reading a few more lines as the demons came up behind him.
As soon as they were close enough Vergil turned and started kicking the demons around and using the scythes in his body as weapons slashing through every demon that came near him.
Vergil pulled out the remaining blades from his body and started throwing each of them into demon's heads, as a demon's body fell in front of Vergil it looked up at him as Vergil slammed his heel down onto the demon's head so hard it sent vibrations through the floor making Yamato bounce off the ground into the air.
Vergil caught Yamato in his hand and took a glance around the room seeing how many were left as he then moved so fast around the room slashing everywhere then appeared back where he was and all the demons were stood frozen in place as Vergil slowly put yamato back into it's sheath and the remaining demons fell to pieces.

Vergil was sitting on his desk that was on it's side looking around the office which was all but destroyed making him shake his head "damn you Dante" he muttered before seeing him on the floor.
Vergil walked over to pick it up but just as he was about to grab it a demon stood on it and then went to attack Vergil but Vergil stabbed it straight through the chest before cutting off it's head.
Vergil slowly walked over and grabbed his long black coat and rested it over his arm as he walked towards the door till he heard another air fan fall from the ceiling breaking when it hit the floor "I'm going to kill him" he said shaking his head as he opened his door walking outside.

Once Vergil stepped outside seeing more demons walking towards him he turned and looked at his office "I haven't even given the place a name and already you've destroyed it…..you'll regret that" he said as he turned back to the demons and threw yamato's sheath straight through a demon's chest before then throwing yamato sideways so it spun around as it went through each demon.
Vergil put on his coat and as his hand came out of the left sleeve he caught Yamato as it came back to him.
Just then Vergil heard something collapse behind him as dust then went past him he turned only to see his shop was completely destroyed "that's it… time to die" he said before turning and fighting through every demon that came close to him.
Then a larger demon appeared with a purple scythe making loud wailing noises and witch-like laughter.
Vergil battled the demon, cutting it's scythe in half before stabbing Yamato straight through it's chest then quickly pulling out his blade and putting it back into it's sheath as the demon fell dead.
he felt the ground tremble and suddenly a tower burst out of the ground with Dante stood at the top with a grin on his face "WHOOOO!" he yelled as the tower went up.
Vergil muttered "of course he has to make his grand dramatic entrance" looking up at the tower as he walked towards it "it's been a long time since we last met ...how time flies"
Dante looked down at Vergil from the top of the tower simply smiling "from where I'm standing you don't look so tough Vergil…" he said to himself.
Vergil made his way forward "wouldn't want to be late for this party of yours would I dante?" he muttered.

Dante stood atop the tower leaning against one of the statues "Arkham.."
Arkham stepped forward "Well? Doesn't it excite you? The Temen-ni-gru has revived. The Great One who once ruled this earth as the medium between the Human world, and the Demon world. Isn't it a magnificent view? The greatest minds of their time, those who revered Evil, constructed this glorious edifice. Now after two millenniums of confinement it can at last fulfill the purpose for which it was intended- "
Dante cut him off "Jesus christ who cares… tell me something important… Does he have it or not?" he said holding his amulet in his hand.
Arkham replied "Of course. He's taking good care of it. after all, it is the only memento left from the mother you both have lost."
Dante thought of his mother for a moment before saying "knowing Vergil I'm sure he knows all about it's true power as well"

At the bottom of the tower there was a woman sitting on a bike looking up at the tower "I found it" she said as if she was the only one in the town that noticed a huge tower just came out of the ground.
….
Eventually Vergil had finally made it to the entrance of the tower after fighting through the demons in the bar to get there. When he walked through the large doors he saw another door with a large rock of ice in front of it.
The ice begins to break and crack revealing the three headed dog cerberus guarding the entrance "Leave now, mortal! The likes of you are forbidden in this land. You who are powerless are not worthy to set foot here."
Vergil looked upon it "three heads and still dumber than the average one….perhaps you aren't aware but I was invited" Vergil replied.
Cerberus growled in anger "You, a mere human, make a mockery of me?" it said as it shoots an ice blast from it's mouth freezing the entrance door shut.
Vergil had jumped up out of the way as he landed he looked back seeing there was no way out now "someone didn't get his walk this morning… come now mutt I'd be happy to oblige"
Cerberus growled, speaking out "You'll regret this you worm!"
Vergil flicked his thumb under Yamato knocking it slightly out of it's sheath "not in this life" he smirked.
….
After the battle Vergil emerged victorious as Cerberus was left with only one head speaking "You are not a human, are you?"
Vergil replied "you figure that out just now?"
Cerberus stood tall as it said "Regardless, you have proved your strength. I acknowledge your ability. Take my soul and go forth. You have my blessing."
Vergil watched as Cerberus disappeared but a light was left behind that slowly came toward Vergil when he caught it, it then turned into a three ended Nunchaku.
Vergil looked over it for a moment before he started swinging it about using it in a fighting style till he finished in an impressive pose "too easy"
As Vergil stood straight and walked forward he heard the ice break behind him as a woman burst through on a bike and was about to land on Vergil but Vergil jumped up flipping out of the way he looked over at the woman as he landed walking towards her "I think this party is invitation only" he said.
The woman flipped her cannon and shot a missle at Vergil, as it comes towards Vergil he simply steps to the left as the cannon explodes behind him as he's covered by the smoke.
Once the smoke cleared Vergil brought his hand up to his shoulder and wiped the dust off.
As Vergil saw the woman turn he noticed she had the same type of eyes as the man that entered his shop.
The woman rode towards Vergil and just as she was about to hit him she jumped up with her bike as the wheels were right in front of Vergil's face as it went up.
Vergil watched her go shaking his head "whatever else can happen I wonder"

At the top of the tower Dante senses something amidst as he says "I invited Vergil ...looks like we have another guest who was uninvited"
Arkham looked up from his book "is that so?"
Dante replied "a human.. A woman"
Arkham closes his book "I'm afraid I should ask the uninvited one to leave. That is what you want. Actually, I happened to be acquainted with that woman." he said as he turned to leave muttering "a storm is approaching"
Dante looked back at Arkham and when he left he shivered and said "ugh ..I daren't ask how god only knows who'd be desperate enough to fuck you" he chuckled to himself.

Vergil had been making his way through the tower killing every demon he came across and eventually he came across the gigapede Vergil made short work of that, running along it's back cutting it to pieces.
As Vergil walks into the next room and grabs what he needs but then it seems to shut off the power to that sector and the doors behind him are locked.
When Vergil tried to open it he sighed when they wouldn't open as he was about to try and cut through when he heard "Yoo-hoo! There's no need to use violence, devil boy." the demon rushed forward "Oh wait wait wait wait wait. Better listen to what others have to say, lad. This tower here is very sturdy." he knocked on the door "You see? Your tricks will do no good, NO GOOD! " a demon that looked like a clown stepped out.
Vergil pointed his sword at the clown's nose "silence...or you'll lose that ridiculous nose"
The clown said "That could be a problem. Just hear me out. You got nothing to lose, right? My name is Jester, and I know a thing or two about this place. That thing there is a power generator for this entire sector. In order to open the door, you need to apply a little something to it first. Do you know what that is, kid? Or is that too difficult for you? Ahahahahahaha."
Vergil suddenly summoned his mirage blades and fired them at Jester's feet as he started to dance. "Quick to the point or you will dance all night" Vergil spoke before stopping the blades.
Jester stopped and panted sarcastically "Actually, I prefer sword to my partner. May I have this dance, my lady?"
Vergil grabbed Yamato and slashed down Vertically jester disappeared and Vergil hit a panel that then opened the door.
Jester said from behind him waving his arms "BINGO! That is what the SOMETHING is. Remember that kid. Write it down on your hand if you don't trust your head. Ahahahahaha."
Vergil then started shooting the mirage blades at him again as Jester danced away laughing.
Vergil spoke up "next time lead with that...incessant clown"

Once Vergil was out of the room he heard Jester again "Thanks for destroying the lock for me, devil boy! And welcome to hell! Please accept my gift. Don't be humble, just take it. After All, we are buddies aren't we... Hahahahahaha."
A fountain of blood flows into the statues as then bats like demons awaken and start to attack Vergil.
Vergil turns them to stone using his mirage blades then smashes them to stones with his sword.

Vergil had made his way further to the top of the tower till eventually he came across a large door with two large statues opposite each other.
A voice was then heard "Look brother, it's been ages, but we finally have company."
Another voice said "I see that."
The other replied "We must entertain our guest"
The one on the left said "You're right. We have to be gracious hosts."
Then the right asked "Brother, what should we do?"
The left then said "How do I know? We need to come up with something."
Vergil folded his arms, sighing as he paced slowly from left to right.
The right pointed out "Brother, our guest is... sighing."
The left then asked "SIGH? What is... SIGH?"
Just as the one on the right went to explain Vergil spoke up "enough! In case it wasn't obvious I want passage through this gate...understand that?"
As the demons both stood the blue one spoke "Our job here is to guard this door."
The red one said "That's right! We can't let you pass." it said as the demons both jumped down towards Vergil.
Vergil fought them both and won, killing the blue one first and the red one shortly after.
The blades remained though as they landed and Vergil was leaving the blue blade spoke "Wait!"
The red one followed on "Yes, wait. We have been waiting for a long time."
"Yes, a very long time."
"For someone stronger than us."
"Someone who can control us."
The red one introduced itself "My name is Agni."
Then the blue one "And my name is Rudra. You shall take us with you."
Then they both spoke in unison "we could be a great help to you!"
Vergil sighed breathing in deeply "I accept...on one condition"
Agni asked "What is it?"
Rudra said "Name it!"
Vergil replied "Neither of you will say one more word"
Agni said "fair enough"
Rudra after "as you wish"
Vergil slowly picks up both swords and starts to try them out fighting with them both practicing till he finishes hearing from Rudra "impressive"
Vergil grabbed them both and hit their heads together "not one more damned word" he said glaring at them both when neither of them spoke Vergil nodded "acceptable"
…..
The woman from earlier was reloading her arsenal of weapons when suddenly she heard "Well Well... You've grown stronger."
She turned and saw Arkham stood before her as she raised her gun pointing it at him "Go to Hell." she told him
Arkham replied "You point a gun at me? Your own kin? Your dear papa?"
The woman told him "The only family I ever had was my mother, and she's dead!" she said before shooting her gun only to see Arkham had disappeared.
Arkham then grabs her from behind "You break my heart. After all, it was I who gave you your name. My darling daughter!" he said before throwing her off the side of the balcony but she shoots him in the head as she falls.
…..
As The woman fell her fall was halted as she felt someone grab her ankle catching her she looked and saw it was the man from earlier he then spoke "I told you.. Invitation only are you surprised you were thrown out?"
The woman replied angrily "let me go"
Vergil smirked "a poor choice of words don't you think?"
The woman then shot Vergil in the head making him grunt as he dropped her and she stabbed her cannon's blade into the stone hanging on to it till she heard from above "what an interesting way to show your gratitude I save your life so you try to end mine?" he asked.
The woman shot him again in the same place making Vergil grunt "...I see, must be that time of the month" he said, turning and leaving.
The woman said from below "so he's a demon too"
Vergil pulled the bullet out of his head "this is why I'm single" he said flicking the blood off his fingers.
…..
After some more tests from the tower finally Vergil had reached the top and made his way up the stairs.
There stood Dante with a smile on his face "ah you made it I'm so thrilled"
Vergil replied "quite the party you've thrown me….no food.. No drinks and the other guests were most unwelcoming."
Dante chuckled "oh I'm sorry brother...I was so caught up with wanting to see you again that I couldn't focus on anything else"
Vergil replied "regardless it's been a year since last we met and just like old times you destroy what is mine" he said pointing his sword at Dante as thunder strikes.
Dante grins "so this is what they call a heartwarming family reunion hmm?"
Vergil replied "you got that right"
….
As the fight goes on between the brothers Vergil knocks Dante back against a statue.
Dante leans up shooting his guns at Vergil who catches the bullets by spinning Yamato in his hands he then lays out the bullets and sends them flying back at Dante who slices them he then stands to say "look at you pathetic and weak why do you not want Dad's power?"
Vergil replies "Father?.. I wanted nothing from him then I want even less from him now… but you destroyed my office" he said charging at Dante.
As their swords collide Dante knocks Yamato aside and stabs Vergil straight through the chest "Vergil Vergil Vergil...you idiot ..strength is everything and without it you can't protect a thing… not even yourself" he said before pulling rebellion out of Vergil's chest and grabbing Vergil's amulet taking it from him and as Vergil reached for it Dante slashed his sword at Vergil's hand.
Dante turns and grabs Yamato walking away.
Vergil's hand twitches as he moves to stand but Dante comes charging back stabbing Yamato through Vergil's chest.
Arkham then appears and asks "do you finally have it?"
Dante replied "uh huh … now about breaking Sparda's spell"
Just then the water around Vergil's seemingly dead body rose up and Vergil burst out of it and went to punch Dante who stabbed rebellion through Vergil's arm. Vergil looked furious as Dante spoke "ahh there he is...I knew there was a devil in there somewhere"
Vergil moved his arm through the sword as blood poured from him and Vergil threw Dante aside.
As Dante landed he turned ready to fight again but Arkham said "Wait. We should leave. For the moment we have all that we need."
Vergil's eyes started to glow as he slowly and menacingly walked towards Dante and Arkham.
Dante smirked and turned, jumping off the tower and Arkham smiled before doing the same.
Vergil suddenly screamed as he turned into his devil form before he fell forward falling unconscious.

Vergil stood slowly feeling defeated but powerful as he ripped the bottom of his sleeve off his coat and walked towards the edge of the tower looking down as he then suddenly slammed his fist against the side of the statue as ripples go through the statue Vergil slowly looked to it as it then just exploded.
Vergil looked at his hand marvelling at his own power before jumping off the side of the tower.
As Vergil fell he saw the bat like demons were coming at him he started firing the mirage blades at them one by one as he kicked off the wall of the tower sending him faster towards the demons as soon as he was close enough he kicked one of the demons straight across the face before jumping off of it into the air till he was suddenly surrounded by the demons.
He summoned Yamato and started slashing through all of them then once he killed them he threw Yamato straight down and fired a mirage blade at the hilt sending Yamato firing down the side of the tower.
Vergil ran so fast to catch up with it when he finally caught up with it he kicked off the side of the tower holding Yamato.
Out of nowhere the Leviathan came and ate Vergil.
…..
Arkham spoke as he opened the next door "People once cried out in fear of this tower. Temen-ni-gru, a foundation that brought out fear. Fear. Yes, fear. Can't you feel it? The rage and agonies of people. Those who are confined here... with their desires of evil being unfulfilled... It was all because Sparda slammed the door to the Demon World in their faces.." he then turned to see if they were being followed.
Dante asked "what now? Someone step over your grave?"
Arkham replied "it's nothing"

The woman who had shot Vergil was just outside a side entrance of Temni Gru she looked up and saw the leviathan falling down. When it did, it made the ground tremble with such force it even shook the tower.
….
Inside Dante looked around "the fuck was that?"
…...
The woman looked upon the leviathan seeing it's red bloody eye which eventually started to shake as more blood poured out of it making the woman point her gun at it ready for a fight.
The eye suddenly split open as Vergil jumped out covered in blood as he sighed wiping it off him till he saw a mark on the wall in blood that looked like Jester saying "this way"
Vergil nodded "your days are numbered clown..but I'll play your game" he said sheathing Yamato.
The woman said from behind him "wait"
Vergil stopped and asked "for what another bullet? No thank you" he said knocking the gun aside but the woman pointed it back at him as Vergil went on to say "all hopes of me courting you definitely ended on the second bullet you shot me with"
The woman scoffed "Date a demon? I'm not that desperate. Besides, I really don't care for guys who stink like blood."
Vergil looked at himself and sniffed up and groaned in disgust "ugh you're right" he said as he pulled out Yamato stabbing a demon behind the woman.
Vergil stood on his side as the woman did too and placed her back against his while they fought from each side.
Vergil asked "so if I may, what is your name?"
The woman replied "I don't have a name"
Vergil chuckled "aha ...so what should I call you?"
Lady replied as she was shooting "I don't care,whatever you want"
Vergil sighed replying "as you wish Lady" he said jumping over the demons landing on the stairs "I'm sure you can handle this..I have a party to get to"
Lady scoffed, muttering "who counted on you anyways?"
….
As Vergil made it through the tower he was met with a demon that caught him a little off guard.
A pale red haired woman appeared before him in a swarm of electric bats "Hmm, welcome sir. Is this your first time here?" she asked him.
Vergil replied "yes it is, I trust you'll treat me kindly won't you?"
Nevan giggled "Of course I will. I'll treat you so nicely, you'll never want to leave." she smiled leaning toward him.
Vergil smirked and flicked Yamato up "ready when you are"
Nevan grinned "well then, come on sugar"
….
After the battle Nevan fell but Vergil caught her "My you're sweet" she said as she leaned up to bite him but Vergil headbutt her knocking her back down.
"So sweet your teeth with rot" Vergil spoke.
Nevan replied "Alright. I'll help you. Your father was a handsome devil" Vergil sighed looking away but Nevan pulled him back and kissed his lips "but you're no slouch yourself." she said before turning into what looked like a guitar in Vergil's hands which confused him at first but when he played a note he saw the bats swarm around him making him smile "I see" he muttered.
….
As Dante and Arkham reached the next door Arkham spoke "Soon we will reach the lair of judgement. Temen-ni-gru will finally regain its full function and lead us into the Demon World. The world where Sparda's power has been sealed. And the one who will lift the incantation is you, his own son. It must be fate."
Arkham looked behind him again checking for followers.
Dante noticed it and asked "Jesus..that woman really bother you this much?"
Arkham asked "What are you talking about?"
Dante replied "why didn't you just kill her and be done with it? Oh… I know maybe it's because she's your daughter hmm? Did your fatherly love get the better of you?" he grinned provoking Arkham.
As Arkham replied "That is none of your - " he was cut off as Dante stabbed him through the chest.
Dante smiled "yeah..I know who you are ..scumbag human who killed his loving wife to become a demon...thought you'd be of more use but I don't really need you anymore it's not a surprise it's no wonder you don't gain more power"
As Dante went to pull Rebellion out of Arkham he spoke "What about you? You're an incomplete being as well. Both demon and human blood mingle in your veins."
Dante quickly pulled the sword out of him and cut him down "I'm sorry you say something?..." Dante laughed as he walked away. "door is open just like that open sesame I don't need you anymore...adios amigo" he said leaving Arkham to die.

Not long after Vergil was catching up and found Arkham dead on the floor.
Lady then approaches and sees Arkham dead, Vergil says "quick work hmm?"
Lady asks "that man..did you kill him?"
Vergil replies "and if I did?" he said before Lady moved to shoot him but Vergil moved aside and caught her wrist "touchy aren't you?"
Lady yelled as she kept trying to shoot him "Shut up! He was obsessed with becoming a devil, so much he killed his own wife. For that he butchered innocent people too. He's the most vile kind of creature." she said as Vergil jumped spinning in the air as Lady shot at him when he landed he lifted his coat seeing the holes in it and sighed as Lady came charging at him Vergil jumped over her as Lady finished with "To top it off, that filthy scum... is my father."
Vergil replied "ah dysfunctional family...that much we share"
Lady pointed her gun at him asking "and what would you know about family? You're a demon! This is my father. My family! This was all supposed to end by my hand!"
Vergil was quiet before asking "you run out of bullets or are you done acting childish?"
Lady just said "Just go. I don't care anymore."
Vergil turned and walked away "family hmm?"
….
Shortly after Vergil left Arkham awoke making Lady point her gun at him.
Arkham spoke "Where am I? It's dark, I can't see anything"
Lady replied "You're still alive, I see"
Arkham spoke "Mary? Is that you? What's happening? Where's your mother?"
Lady got angry at that "My mother?! You killed her, remember!"
Arkham replied "Yes. That's right. I killed her... with my own hands. What horrible thing have I done? I was too weak. I succumbed to his influence." sounding sad.
Lady gasped "You mean, you were possessed? Father?" she asked, coming closer to him.
Arkham replied "Yes, I was manipulated. Manipulated by a devil, named Dante"
Lady asked "Dante?"
Arkham nodded "He is attempting to bring the demon world back to this modern day. A world that Sparda once sealed off."
Lady was confused "Sparda? I thought he was a myth."
Arkham shook his head no "If the demons return, this world will be thrown into chaos. Stop him. Stop... Dante"
Lady asked in disbelief "me?"
Arkham told her "You are such a sweet child... just like your mother…" he reached for her face before falling back dead.
Lady cried "Father! FATHER! .." she screamed as she then whispered in anger "Dante"
….
Vergil finds a relic in a room and is about to grab it as he hears a voice "Sparda! Sparda!" as a demon crashes through the ceiling trying to hit Vergil.
Vergil sighed "poor creature...never taught how to use a door hmm?"
Beowulf replied "That odor, I know it."
Vergil sighed "it's been a long day I don't need your criticism right now you don't exactly smell like a basket of roses"
Beowulf replied "It's the stench of betrayal. The odor of that accursed Sparda! I will annihilate every last blood relation of Sparda!"
Vergil asked "couldn't you have gone for Dante first?... fine come to die"
….
After the battle as Beowulf tries to punch Vergil, Vergil throws Yamato and it slashes Beowulf's remaining eye making him scream "The odious one whose heart pumps the blood of Sparda. Though my sight is gone, I remember your scent. I shall hunt you down for eternity if I must. Until I rid this earth of your foul smell!"
Vergil slowly stood dusting himself off "of course..because it's my fault Sparda rebelled against you…. I don't blame him when he's to deal with attitudes like yours"
….
Vergil looks over to see the relic still there he picks it up but once he does he begins to feel weak he groans and falls to his knees when he hears "Wahahahaha! That's amazing! Even the devil boy is no match for it!"
Vergil groans and grabs Jester pulling him down holding Yamato against him "Oh, You're not going to stab me, are you? If you do, I'll die, you know."
Vergil replied "it seems that's what it will take to silence you..it's hard for anyone to annoy me more than Dante but somehow you've managed it"
Jester replied "Don't act so rashly, my boy. I got a doozy of a story for you, but, if you snuff out my voice like that, I won't be able to tell it now, will I?" he asked nervously as Vergil threw him aside "Woh, I thought I was a goner for sure. Oops! You saw it too, didn't you? The huge tower jutting out of the ground? That thick shaft that causes women to shudder is actually a tunnel linking the demonic domain to the human world. And of course, your brother Dante is the one who controls it by using your mommy's amulet."
Vergil groaned wishing he'd just stabbed him.
Jester went on to say "He's headed to the control room in the basement. If you don't hop down there quick like a bunny, he'll open the gate to hell. Isn't that a scary thought?"
Vergil replied "yes I'm aware of what he's doing now tell me something I wasn't aware of"
Jester then said "Oops! I forgot to mention one teeny wittle item. That gizmo there is actually the KEY to move forward. But the tricky thing is, it sucks the souls of those who hold it. So I think you'd better hurry! Hahahahahaha! But, in return for your soul, it'll give you power! Marvelous, isn't it? Just let your spirit drive you and go for it. Ha-hahahahahahaha!"
Vergil stood slowly "as I said before lead with that first! Moron!" he said as suddenly Vergil changed into his devil form.
And rushed to the bridges slashing through every demon between him and the bridge in a hurry till finally he made it and threw the relic into the port that switched the bridges so they were facing the right way.

As Vergil went through the door he was staring down a long bridge when he saw a horse on the other side which suddenly charged towards him Vergil jumped up over it landing behind it when suddenly the bridge started to collapse as Vergil and the horse both fell into the arena.

After Vergil defeated the horse he saw a blue flame appear from it's body and rush forward into Vergil's chest.
Vergil felt the same and just assumed it was nothing as he stepped forward he saw rubble was about to land on him but it just stopped.
Vergil poked the rubble gently making it go up as he smirked and walked on and the rubble fell behind him.

As Dante entered the lair of judgement beowulf crashed through the ceiling "I found you, seed of Sparda! I told you that I remember your rancid scent. No matter where you run to, you can never hide from me!"
Dante groaned "eugh you ugly bastard looks like you met Vergil how was that by the way?" he asked before jumping up, landing on it's head and stabbing Rebellion through it.
Beowulf froze in place speaking "You... you are not the one I faced before... But this smell... There are two of them! That excrement Sparda had two sons...!"
Dante obtained the weapon Beowulf and started using it to destroy the body of the already dead Beowulf "haha… look at these...fucking awesome I get the best shit"

After he did the ritual as Arkham told him Dante was starting to get angry as nothing was happening "for FUCK SAKE why isn't it working?! What? you want more blood or something?! The fuck?!"
Vergil chuckled as he stepped forward "you seem upset Dante"
Dante turned seeing him "Vergil...fuck off now is not the time!"
Vergil replied "I'm afraid it is the time is now, I have come to reclaim what is rightfully mine"
Dante inhaled deeply as he stood up and reached for Rebellion "mmm.." he then smirked leaving it there and summoned Beowulf "why not? I can go another round sure...after all some of your blood might finally make this stupid thing work"
Vergil flicked Yamato up "come spill it..if you can that is"

As Vergil and Dante fought a missile came out of nowhere as they both slashed it to pieces.
Vergil saw Lady stood there and growled "stand aside Lady this isn't your fight"
Dante chuckled "who's this your girlfriend Vergil?"
Lady said "shut up" as she shot at him.
Lady charged at Dante but Dante knocked her aside then jumped, flipping in the air over Vergil and slashed his sword against Lady's cannon.
Lady said "you forced him into this"
Dante replied "is that what he told you? You fucking idiot" he told her as Vergil slashed at Dante and they resumed their fight.
Lady moved away hesitant to go on as she was confused now.
As Vergil slashed at Dante blood shot out of him and Dante slashed along Vergil's chest making blood shoot out from him too as they both tired out.
Clapping was then heard around the room "Bravo! Bravo! I never dreamed that things would go so smoothly. Well done everyone, well done!" Jester appeared.
Vergil groaned "you"
Lady went to shoot Jester but he caught it "don't be a bad girl Mary" he said before throwing her across the room "or you can expect a spanking from daddy later! Jester's gonna spank your butt. Spank you on the butt."
Dante stood "you nutjob not ten seconds and you're already pissing me off" he said as he charged at Jester but Jester caught the sword in his hands.
Jester spoke up "Zowie, that was close. But you've taken quite a trouncing today, haven't you Dante? You could have chopped me into confetti by now if you're in your tip-top condition. "
Dante growled out "fuck you clown"
Jester then said in another voice "you have lost" Dante instantly recognised it but was punched across the room.
Arkham then appeared "Because you've underestimated humans."
Lady looked up "what's going on?"
Arkham looked back to her "Good girl. Pure and Innocent... just like your mother."
Lady pulled out her gun "you bastard!" but as she was about to shoot Jester appeared behind her and grabbed her hair making her whimper "It's time for your spanking, my dear!" he tells her before slamming her head against the ground.
Jester stands looking to Dante "You want to know why the spell didn't break, hmm Dante? You have two amulets, and Sparda's blood. You've got everything you needed to unleash the evil... "
Vergil stands "I've had enough of you clown your time is up" he said shooting mirage blades at Jester.
But Jester teleported all over the ceiling "You are wounded and weak, even I can do... " before jumping down landing on Vergil's face "..THIS TO YOU! HAHAHAHA!"
Arkham then appeared again saying "Two amulets... a set of Sparda's blood. Now I need one more key. He sacrificed two things to suppress the tremendous force of this tower: His own Devil's blood, and a mortal priestess." he said before stabbing Lady through the back of her thigh making her scream out in agony "I needed you, in whose body flows the same blood as the sacrificed woman. His spell cannot be undone without your blood!"
Jester then appeared removing the blade from Lady's thigh "It is quite a ride, you know. If any of you had died, my little plan would have gone to waste! So my job is to let you battle each other and weaken you, but at the same time I need to guide you here to make sure you are kept alive. I've gone so far as dressing like a complete idiot! It's time for bed, Mary. You can go to visit your dear mother... " he said as he burst out laughing like a maniac.
Lady suddenly kicked the cannon out of his hands rising to her feet pointing it at him "whoa" said Jester.
Lady spoke "try me"
Dante and Vergil placed their blades at Jester's back "it's time for the clown to bow out" said Vergil.
Dante said "Arkham the shows over"
Arkham appeared then replying "Impressive. I expected nothing less from the devil's descendants. But aren't you forgetting something, Dante? The spell is broken. What do you think will happen next? Let's welcome chaos."
All the sudden the platform turned red and started to shake as everyone went to attack Arkham he ducked down and swept his leg under all of them before kicking them off the side off the cylinder.
Arkham looks down at Lady "Just sit and wait... Wait for the birth of a new god! I shall take over the power of Sparda!" he laughs.
Dante is unconscious as the ground underneath him crumbles as he falls.
Lady falls too but Vergil caught her hand helping her up.

After a while Vergil asks Lady "are you going to still go forward?"
Lady replies "Yes. I'm going to finish him off."
Vergil smirks "I admire your determination but you are no match for him now so stay here"
Lady replied "Regardless, I must go. I had a chance to stop him before but I couldn't. I'm responsible for all this mess."
Vergil sighed in frustration "Responsible? How is any of this your fault?"
Lady shot her grappling hook to the top of the cylinder "He's my father. Besides, who else can undo what he's done? A demon like you, wouldn't understand." she said before being carried upwards.
Vergil frowned "if only you knew…" he then raised his voice "well I'll see you there… but you should make haste otherwise I'll have to take all the credit"

As time went by both Vergil and Lady reached the library.
Vergil walked in seeing Lady leaning against the shelf looking exhausted. He passes her and asks "tired? You take a minute I'll handle this you stay back"
Lady pointed her gun at him "you stay back!"
Vergil grabs the gun moving it as Lady shoots him in the stomach as he stares into her eyes "I told you stay back… do you not see? This is not a job for a human"
Lady replies "You are the one who doesn't see. It's not something you can reason with. It has nothing to do with me being a human and you being a demon. I'm driven by the inability to forgive him! My soul is screaming, demanding me to kill him. " she said, pushing the gun against his chest till Vergil snatched it off her.
Lady followed with "That's enough motivation to keep me going. Besides, this is my family matter. You should stay out of it."
Vergil replied "I understand ..but it's past the point where I can just sit back and watch you run freely to your inevitable death...besides now I want to kill him too" he said summoning Yamato and pointing at her "now I won't say it again… last warning stand aside or there will be consequences"
Lady grabbed her cannon saying "Fair enough. I wasn't planning to let any demon live anyway. Not even one." she said as the fight between them began.

In the middle of the fight there was a moment after Lady shot her cannon at Vergil she lost sight of him.
Till she heard his voice "I think you missed" he said as Lady turned and saw he was standing there holding a book reading from it.
Lady quickly moved her gun pointing at him and was shooting at him as Vergil walked towards her, the bullets going past him till she ran out of bullets and leaned back against the shelf.
Vergil walked over till he was right in front of her and told her "I will handle this" he saw her defeat and turned to walk away.
Lady asked "Why do you care so much?"
Vergil froze in place before replying "all this fuss started with my father sealing the entrance between the two worlds. And now, my brother is trying to break that spell and turn everything into hell…..see? This is my family matter too. Honestly, at first, I didn't care in the slightest but now you have made me see what's important now. I know what I need to do."
Lady told him suddenly as he was walking away "wait!"
Vergil stopped and turned back "don't worry … I will make this right for you trust me"
Lady took her cannon and held it out to him "use this"
Vergil looked at the large weapon "I appreciate that… but guns are not my area of expertise"
Lady nodded slowly before grabbing his collar and pulled him down so she could kiss his cheek "for luck….tell me your name"
Vergil was frozen by the kiss his mind took a moment to catch up "my name..is Vergil"
Lady nodded and let him go "Vergil ...free my father"
Vergil nodded back to her "you have my word" he told her as he left.

When Vergil reached the top of the tower he looked up seeing the portal to hell "the end is nigh" he said as he was lifted up through the sky into the portal to hell.

After making his way through hell fighting every demon that he had already fought over again he finally caught up with Arkham but when he arrived Arkham wasn't in sight.
Arkham tried to attack Vergil from behind but Vergil blocked it and knocked him back.
Arkham spoke up in the form of Sparda "Welcome. What do you think after looking at your father's image?"
Vergil replied "it's like ordering a pie and finding it has no filling…. You are a vile man Arkham ...it's time for you to meet your end"
Arkham started to chuckle darkly as his body changed into something monstrous "I feel the devil's power overflowing in my body! The power of Sparda!"
Vergil stared at it in disgust "My father looked nothing like that...My mother would have never fallen for such a creature...regardless this proves you cannot control the power of Sparda...The beginning of the end..here it comes"
….
As Vergil fought Arkham he was beginning to tire "No use! Regardless of how strong you are, you are nothing but a half breed. You cannot defeat a pure demon, the real Sparda!"
Suddenly Arkham's hand was cut off "what's this?!" roared Arkham.
There stood Dante grinning "did ya miss me?" he asked, jumping down landing in front of Vergil pointing his sword at him.
Vergil looked at Dante asking "just how long were you standing up there? You might have jumped in sooner"
Dante grinned "and steal your spotlight? Never brother dearest"
Vergil replied "well you've stolen it now haven't you?"
Dante smirked "ahh you looked like you were losing…. And nobody beats you but me… so care to join me in finishing this fuck?"
Vergil stood beside Dante looking at Arkham "absolutely"
Arkham looked at them both "Do you feel you can defeat me? Defeat the power of your father? The great Sparda?"
Vergil replied "if it wasn't obvious already you cannot control the power of Sparda"
Dante spoke "you're wasting your time buddy…. I think he needs to learn the hard way" he said, pointing rebellion at Arkham.
Vergil looked to Dante then back at Arkham swinging Yamato upwards knocking Rebellion behind Dante as they both charged towards Arkham.

Arkham groaned in agony as The brothers defeated him "it cannot be! You cannot…." as Dante raised his guns to shoot Arkham knocked one of the guns out of his hands "DIE!"
Vergil caught it "I'll try it your way for once"
Dante asked "remember what we used to say?"
Vergil and Dante both pointed their guns at Arkham saying in unison "JACKPOT!"
Arkham screamed "I HAVE THE POWER OF SPARDA!"
Vergil scoffed "not very classy for someone's dying words" he said, throwing ebony back to Dante.
Dante chuckled and just as he was about to turn he saw force edge and the amulets he quickly jumped down towards them followed by Vergil.
Both of them managed to catch their amulets but as they landed the force edge fell between them they both went to grab it but Dante dived forward getting it first making Vergil back away.
Dante saw the amulet in Vergil's hand "hand it over Vergil let's make this easy"
Vergil replied "I think not.. You have one of your own"
Dante smirked "and I'll have yours too.. One way or the other"
Vergil told him "and what would you do with all that power hmm? Anyone who wants power this much.. Shouldn't have it"
Dante swung his sword at Vergil "shut up! Just give me the amulet!"
Vergil swung Yamato at Dante as they both caught each other's blades "this ends here … as you said one way… or another!" he said as he kicked Dante back.
Dante chuckled "then let's get on with it"
….
After countless strikes one against the other the brothers charged at each other one last time Vergil slipped under the force edge and slashed Yamato across Dante's stomach making him fall to his knees "ugh… you just couldn't let me have it could you?" he muttered.
Vergil stared down at him "is that all you have? Get on your feet you can do better" he said as suddenly trembling was felt in the ground.
Dante slowly got to his feet "portals closing… better get back to that girl of yours huh?"
Vergil moved towards Dante but Dante grabbed rebellion pointing it at Vergil "go on fuck off… I'm staying… this place was dad's home.. I'll make it my own" he said as he fell backwards off the cliff.
Vergil reached out to him trying to catch him "No Don't!" Dante slashed at Vergil's gloved hand falling backwards into the abyss.
Vergil felt his heart sink as watched Dante fall he looked at the cut in his glove and closed his eyes a moment before looking back and picking up the force edge.

Lady waited outside Temni Gru for Vergil who eventually shows up "still here?"
Lady smirked "I wanted to see if you made it back"
Vergil looked up at the sky "they're gone… for now but they'll be back.. They always come back" he said before looking away for a moment.
Lady asked, "Are you crying?"
Vergil replied "don't be absurd it's just the rain"
Lady looked around and held out her hand "the rain stopped already…maybe somewhere out there even a devil may cry when he loses a loved one .. don't you think?"
Vergil shook his head "Devils Never Cry" he told her.
Lady reached for her gun "by the way…." she then shot her gun at demons who were about to attack "looks like we'll be busy for awhile"
Vergil looked around at them "well well… let them come, I'll kill you all" he said flicking up Yamato.
…
"What happened next? Nothing, really. We took care of all the remaining devils and that was it. I still have a job to do that's far from done, which is to eliminate every last demon. I need to ensure that monsters like my father never come about again. Then he promised to help me hunt down the demons, even though he's part one himself. But now I realize, there are humans as evil as any devil, as well as calm and compassionate demons in this universe. At least I've found one so-called devil who's able to shed tears for those he cares about. That's enough for me to believe in him."
Vergil stood outside his shop after he fixed and renovated the place looking better than before "now I can finally get to work"
"Oh, speaking of a kind devil, he finally decided on a name for his shop. It took him quite a while to pick one. Want to know the name?"
Vergil walked inside and answered the phone "Devils Never Cry"

Dante was there on his knees panting trying to recover from his wounds as he looked up to see three glowing red eyes above him.
Dante started to laugh "hahaha… yeah that's it come kick a guy while he's down huh?... well that's fine I still have enough power to fuck you up" he said standing and charging at The Prince of Darkness.
