SEPTEMBER 1ST,

GOTHAM CITY, NEW YORK

GOTHAM ACADEMY

10:30 a.m.

DAMIAN WAYNE SCOWLED AS HE STOOD IN FRONT OF THE DOOR OF HIS NEWEST CLASS.

'Room 401: Theater' read the name plate on the door.

It was moments like this where he sometimes regretted becoming Robin. When he was younger he loved it but now at seventeen-years-old as he glared at the name plate he hated it.

Because of him missing so many days of school due to being Robin he was absent on the day last year when everyone picked their schedules and ended up being the last one to pick his classes meaning he got stuck with all the classes nobody wanted.

His other classes were fine they just all ended up being A.P. Courses which Damian knew his father would have made him take anyway but every student had to take an elective every year to graduate and since Damian was the last one to pick his classes he got left with the only elective with open spots.

He had to join theater as his elective.

"Uh, Dude," A voice came and Damian whirled around. He found a Asian boy a couple inches shorter than him with thick eyebrows, narrowed eyes and full lips. His hair was cut in a stylish long mullet that Damian already could tell was against uniform guidelines.

Damian stared him down and only grunted in response.

The boy's eyebrows raised, "No, offense but you're kinda," he gestured to the door, "blocking the door. I don't wanna be late on my first day," he held out his hand, "I'm Mikey, by the way."

"Not interested," Damian said flatly before turning the door open. He ignored Mikey's muttering of calling him rude and glanced around the classroom.

His eyebrow raised when the room was filled with surprisingly more students than he originally would be there. The room was filled with colorful decorations and he was almost certain he saw paint splattered on some walls.

Most of the students were very nerdy and wimpy looking while some others were more rich and put together.

The woman standing in the middle of the room turned to them with a smile, "Oh, my! More students! Come in! Come in!" She ushered them inside. She had ginger colored hair, pale freckles skin and looked like she couldn't be older than 40. Her curl red hair was tied into a high bun and her dress was odd and filled with stars, planets and was that a rocket ship?

"Morning, Ms.Taylor," Mikey said, he grinned almost as brightly as her smile.

Ms. Taylor pinched his cheeks, "Oh, Mikey. It's wonderful to see you again dear. I truly do hope you get the lead in this year's play! Now, you two have a seat."

As Damian hesitantly took his seat and ignore the wide eye stare of some of his new classmates his thought first thought was that Ms.Taylor looked like that horrid woman Ms.Frizzle from the Magic School bus that Grayson used to make him watch back when he was still came around and when Grayson still visited.

Now Grayson was off doing God knows what with God knows who. He hadn't spoken to Grayson in over a month.

After Grayson and Kori broke up for hopefully the last time (Damian nearly sighed at the thought of Grayson and Kori's very toxic relationship) Grayson decided he needed to leave Gotham to discover himself.

Damian just wasn't expecting Grayson's self discovery journey to last over three years. He saw Grayson around birthdays and holidays when he came to visit but...it wasn't the same.

The bell rang and Ms.Taylor smiled at them all, "All right. I guess that's all the students," she hummed, "Good morning, class. My name is Ms.Taylor and I'll be your Theater teacher for the next four semesters. For anyone new in this course—"

The classroom door opened and Damian rolled his eyes before looking up. In the doorway was a black brown-skinned with wild dark curly hair that was majority covered in a black beanie, her almond shaped brown eyes were covered in thick looking black glasses dressed in a s hook sweatshirt that looked 2x too big for her petite size and baggy uniform pants. On her feet were the most dirty and beat up pair of sneakers Damian had ever seen.

"Sorry, I'm late, Ms.Taylor," The girl said quickly, her hands clutching the straps of her backpack. She held her head up higher and Damian caught sight of her nose piercing.

Ms.Taylor waved her off, "It's no problem, Sasha. Just take a seat, sweetheart," she smiled at Sasha and Sasha quickly took a seat next to Mikey.

Damian watched with narrow eyes as the two exchanged a complicated handshake of some sort before scoffing.

"As I was saying," Ms.Taylor continued, "Every year Gotham Academy puts on a massive musical play and the theater class—us—are responsible for running it. We do everything. Costumes, lighting, sets, acting, singing we do it all. Each student is assigned a group partner where you will work together on planning for the play that takes place toward 3rd semester. This play assignment will last until almost the end of the school year when we finally put on the play for entire school to see. Some of you will have similar jobs, some different jobs—"

A girl in the front row who looked oddly familiar's hand shot up as fast as lightning. Damian narrow his eyes as he took in her tan skin, long dark hair and high cheek bones. "When can we audition?" She asked eagerly.

"Carly, honey, please wait for me to finish talking next time," Ms.Taylor said gently and Carly only rolled her eyes, "But auditions will take place after the final script is written and costumes are designed so probably not until January. With that being said each group will be assigned their jobs to prepare for the play before auditions begin," her eyes brightened as she clapped her hands rigged, "Now I'm happy to introduce that the play we're doing this year is...Hamilton!" She shouted so loudly Damian's ears started to ring.

The classroom exploded in excited whispers Damian ever heard some start squealing of job. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Sasha turning bright red as Mikey frantically talked to her quietly but chose to ignore it.

Damian scowled. He knew little to nothing about musical theater. Though he does know of Hamilton from Brown's constant rambling of whenever she visits with Cain he never's never listened to a single song from the sound track.

He just hoped that once it was time to start producing the play he wouldn't have an acting role.

He nearly groaned at the thought of group work. He didn't work well with others, never had never will. The only people Damian had ever worked well with was Grayson and Jon who was off working with the Titians full time.

"Because today is only the first day we're going to focus script writing for the play," Ms.Taylor grabbed a thick stack of paper and started to hand out a sheet to each student, "On these pieces of paper are your project partners. Your current assignment is rewrite the script or songs of play to shorten it, it should be turned into me by the end of next month. Who ever's script rewrite I deem the best we'll use in the play."

Damian eyed the pace of paper left on his desk before picking it up and reading the name of his soon-to-be year long project partner.

The paper read 'SASHA ROCQUE'

He heard the sound of someone clearing their throat in front of him and looked up. Low and behold standing in front of him was Sasha Rocque who looked like she couldn't stop fidgeting.

His green eyes meet her brown ones and he glared.

She sighed and held out her hand, "I'm Sasha Rocque," she said.

He didn't take her hand, "-tt. Damian Wayne."

This was gonna be a long year.

This is kinda rough for my first chapter! Feedback please
