Chapter 0: Prolog

Country: The United States of America, State: Oregon, City: Portland, Place: Mount Washington, Area: Hiking Trail, Month: July, Day: Tuesday 5th, Year: 2022, Time: 11:44 AM…

She sat on a rock and wiped at her sweaty brow with her scarf. As cold as it had been when she had started her hike, it now felt like she was boiling. She took off her backpack and then her hat, gloves, and scarf. She'd put them back on when she got cold, but for now they'd reside in her pack. Taking out a bottle of water she looked out and around her. The view of Mount Washington was beautiful, and the air seemed so clear.

"I'm here again, Rose." She muttered thinking about her best friend. "I'm going to go all the way this time. I wish you were here."

Anastasia sighed as she caped her water and packed it away. For the last ten years she'd been making this same trip with her best friend Rose. But two years ago, Rose died. Oddly enough it wasn't from the Virus that had ravaged the world. It was cancer. She fought hard, but it won in the end. Now Ana makes the hiking trip every year on Rose's anniversary. She was resting at the spot that she and Rose always stopped at. Ana stopped here because she was a timid kind of woman, scared to go any farther. But now as she looked up the path…she was going to go all the way. To a spot Rose had taken a picture with her older brother.

Pulling the pack back on, Ana started her trek again. The environment of jagged hills, slopes and rocks, the moss and grass and sparse trees, was so open and welcoming. But Ana knew she had to be careful with her steps. The loose rocks beneath her feet could shift easily. She wasn't too interested in getting scrapped up. It took her a little longer before she was at the right spot. It looked the same as the picture anyway. She even pulled it out to make sure. She smiled tucking the image of a young Rose and her brother away. She took in a deep breath of the thin air.

"I made it, Rose." Ana sighed as she looked at the rock that in the image Rose and her bother sat on.

She sat on the rock and took off her pack. Just as she pulled out her phone, it slipped from her chilled sweaty fingers.

"Crap!" She gasped as it hit the ground and slid a few feet on the loose gravel. "Please don't be cracked, I need you for work." She muttered as she let go of her pack and walked to the phone.

She picked up the phone and let out a frustrated hiss. The entire screen was cracked to hell.

"Okay, it's okay, maybe it's not too bad…power button…" She muttered and pushed the thin power button on the side of the phone case. It remained black. "Shit." She hissed as she moved to stand back up.

What does it take to your life to change completely? One wrong step on one wrong loose stone. Ana's foot stepped on such a stone. It slipped, taking her hiking booted foot with it. With a surprised yelp, she started falling. The phone flying from her fingers as she tried to dig her fingers into the sides of the path. The gravel-like ground was too loose for a good hold and she slipped off the edge and began to tumble. The world blurred as she grunted and yelped with each tumble, the pain of her exposed skin getting ripped and torn on the rocks the only thing known to her. Until she fell off a ledge and felt her back then her head hit something hard. She felt dazed, making no sound at all. Until she felt her head get wedged and then felt a sharp pain in her neck then heard a loud snapping crack. Then nothing.

Bright lights…cries, words, sudden cold.

"It's a girl!" She heard but didn't seem to know what it meant.

Then sudden comfort and warmth.

"Katherine." She heard but could only guess what it meant.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Family Room, Month: July, Day: Sunday 15th, Year: 1979, Time: 1:00 PM…

Little Kathrine was playing with a stuffed kitty and it slipped from her tiny fingers. "No." She babbled annoyed.

She leaned off the edge of the couch, tiny hands grabbing for the kitty. Then she tipped. A startled yelp escaped before she fell and hit her head on the floor. The moment her head contacted the floor it was like a world opened in her head. Memories flashed and wove their way through her tiny head. She screamed as three kinds of pain filled her toddler brain. The pain of remembering she was reborn, the pain of knowing she'd died, and the pain of hitting her head.

"Kathrine?" She heard from her new mother.

The woman with blonde hair and green eyes came rushing in and saw the tiny blonde toddler face down on the floor. She rushed over and picked up the sobbing tot. She carefully looked over her tiny face, seeing her lip bleeding a bit. She carefully rocked the tot as she walked to the bathroom, to clean up her daughter and check her face more thoroughly. But Kathrine wasn't even paying attention to that. She felt like knowledge was flooding into her mind. Memories and the understanding of a grown woman was in the body of a three-year-old.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Kathrine's bedroom, Month: July, Day: Monday 16th, Year: 1979, Time: 10:00 PM…

Kathrine sat in her room, thinking. She was once Anastasia, but she was Katherine. She'd answered to that name for three years of her new life. Three years that were embarrassing to think about now that she had her adult mind back, she was too used to the name. And she found she liked Katherine more than Anastasia. She now shared a name with a superhero, not a long dead aristocrat from Russia. But she supposed this was a good life. She didn't have to want for anything now. Her mother was a stay at home mom, and her father was the mayor of the city. She didn't know what city, but she didn't care at the moment. What mattered was she was set. With her adult mind, she was set for later in life when she would go to school. Maybe at first she'd play average, try to fit in. This was a new life after all.

Kat was in her Highchair, munching on apple slices when she stiffened at hearing what her mom was listening to on the radio.

"…Umbrella Pharmaceuticals newest Health product is…"

Kat turned her head to the radio with narrowed eyes. 'What was that about Umbrella?' She thought as her father came to the table with the newspaper. She looked at it and saw it. "Raccoon Daily". Her eyes widened at that. 'No…but…that's a fictional place.'

"Good morning, darling." Her mother said and kissed her father's cheek. "Do you have time for some food?"

"Not today. I have a meeting with Brian at the station today." Her father told her mother.

'Station? Brian?' Kat thought with her brows farrowing in confusion.

"Have you taken your medication this morning?" Her father asked.

'Am I…was I reborn in the Resident Evil Universe?' Kat wondered.

"I have, but…I have to go to the hospital later today." Her mother said, oblivious to her tot's mental freak-out.

'My name is Kathrine Warren…and I'm the Mayor's daughter.' Kat thought as she stared at her mashed peas. 'That means…if I'm reborn in RE…I'm…'

"Maybe you can take Kathrine with you to the station." Her mother said making Kat turn her blue-eyed gaze to her mother. "Going with me to the hospital can't be good for her psyche."

"She's three, Amy. She won't remember it in a few years." Her father said as he fixed his candy cane colored tie.

"Michel, Kathrine isn't like other tots. You can't tell me you haven't seen that look in her eyes." Her mother stressed. "She's going to be the smartest in her classes. She might even work at Umbrella someday. I don't want her memories of her mother to be filled with her going to the hospital."

'I'm going to die…' Kat felt her breathing pick up speed.

"She'll be fine." Her father said calmly. "Now I've got to get going."

As he left the room, the new emotions in Kate broke to the surface and she started crying. Not knowing why her daughter was crying, Amy approached Kathrine and started comforting her child by humming lightly to her and rocking her.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon General Hospital, Area: Central waiting room, Month: August, Day: Friday 10th, Year: 1979, Time: 4:01 PM…

Kat struggled to write on some papers in the hospital. With a purple crayon and a notebook in her tiny lap, she struggled to get her tiny hands and toddler dexterity to write in the notebook. She was making both a dairy and a booklet of everything she could remember of the Resident Evil timeline. She felt her frustration building as her letters messed up, too close together, too big, too far apart, unreadable. She hated that she had the dexterity of a spring roll in that moment, she had wasted four pages trying to get her handwriting to be even slightly readable for later.

"Hey, Kathy."

Kat ignored the nurse.

"What are you drawing?" The nurse asked in that voice that all adults use to talk to tots.

Kat understood that she was a toddler and understood that that's what people saw when they looked at her, but by god was it fucking annoying.

"I'm not drawing." Kat said in a tiny voice. "I'm writing."

"What are you writing about?" The nurse asked, sounding confused at the words used, but not really believing the tot since the words were very difficult to read.

"Secrets." Kat stated hugging the book to herself.

"Okay." The nurse smiled. "Where's your daddy?"

"At work." Kat said, remembering she had to act at least a little her physical age.

"Okay. Wait here." The Nurse said seeming nervous.

"Where's mommy?" Kat asked worried.

"Oh, she's getting her medicine. She'll be out before you know it." Then the nurse left, making Kat question why she was allowed to be by herself.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon Park, Area: Cemetery, Month: September, Day: Wednesday 19th, Year: 1979, Time: 3:01 PM…

Kat sat with her father in a small black dress. She sniffled as the coffin of her mother sank into the ground. She knew that the mayor's wife was never mentioned in the game's backgrounds…Kat thought that the wife left him. But she had passed away and it hurt.

It was worse when her father, had said that her mother had gone to sleep and would be for a long time. She had bluntly responded with 'No. Mommy's dead.' It had shocked her father, but she ignored that. Now, standing there, she felt the same emotions she had at her best friend's funeral, but worse as it was her mother.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon High School, Area: Courtyard, Month: April, Day: Friday 20th, Year: 1990, Time: 2:13 PM…

Kat pushed her blonde hair out of her face as she wrote in her new notebook. Every two years since her mother's death, she would rewrite what she remembered of the RE Universe. But as she did, the more she seemed to rely on the past notes. She was forgetting and that truly wasn't a good thing in her opinion. But everything to do with herself, or rather who she had been reborn as, was clearest. It gave her often a restless night having nightmares of a future and hopefully preventable death at the hands of the creepy police chef, Brian Irons.

She'd met her future murderer a few times over the years, trying to keep away from him as much as possible. Every time she'd seen him or been around him, she could feel his gaze on her. The feeling was as if a spider was crawling over her skin, cold and prickly. She knew not just with her foreknowledge but with her experience that Irons fantasied about her in a creepy way. She knew that if she wanted to evade her death, she'd have to get out of Raccoon altogether. The start would be getting out of high school as soon as possible.

"Hey, Kathrine."

Kat looked up from her book and saw Greg Peters, a 15-year-old who was in his sophomore year. He had dark brown hair and eyes, he was built like a swimmer, and had tanned skin. He was the kind of handsome from a high school perspective, a little above average. He had his backpack on one shoulder and was smiling.

"Hi, Greg." Kat smiled lightly. Even though she had her old life's memories in her head, enough to act like an adult from time to time, she still was a 14-year-old girl and had those feelings. "How are you doing?"

"I'm good…" He took a seat next to her, making her close her diary before he could read it. "So…How are you?"

"I'm great." She smiled.

He smiled nervously. "So…so a new movie is out…I was wondering if you'd…well come with me to see it… on a date?"

Kat smiled brightly. "Yes."

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Main Entry, Month: February, Day: Friday 15th, Year: 1991, Time: 7:30 PM…

Kat fixed the two curled locks of hair that framed her face. She had her hair in a curly half up-do, wore a steal silver spaghetti strap dress that had two laces on her back and silver flower embroidery on the bodes, a pair of silver heeled sandals, and the green shall about her shoulders. She checked her make-up. Simple smoky eye with silver eyeliner, pale red lip gloss, and light pink glittery blush. She smiled and then headed for the stairs. She descended down them, seeing her boyfriend, Greg at the bottom with a red rose corsage.

Greg looked up at her and smiled. He wasn't shocked or stunned at her all dolled up, but Kat ignored that. Once at the bottom, Greg put the rose around her wrist.

"You are gorgeous tonight, Kit Kat." He told her.

"You look handsome, Greg." Kat smiled.

He was in a black tux and had a green tie. They had said that it'd be better to match accessories rather than their clothes.

"Pictures." Michael said holding a camera with a smile.

Kat smiled as she got a picture first with Greg, then by herself on the stairs. She partly couldn't believe it as she left with her first boyfriend, pushing all worries from her mind. She was a 15-year-old senior going to prom. She had her first boyfriend with her, and she had big plans later that night. Nothing could sour it.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon High School, Area: Gym, Month: February, Day: Friday 15th, Year: 1991, Time: 11:23 PM…

The crowned king and queen sat at the on stage. Kat and Greg hadn't won, and Kat guessed it was because she was 15 and he was 16. Who would want a young queen? But that didn't matter. The after party was going to be at Grill 13. Kat was tempted to go but held up a room key for the Apple Inn to Greg, just before they got to the taxi.

"Tonight." She told him with a bright grin, face and checks red from dancing, and the spiked punch. "I want to do it tonight."

Greg looked at the key and grinned, face equally as red as her's. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah. It's a special night. I'd rather it in this room rather than a park bench somewhere or in the car." She beamed. "Please, Greg, I want to do it."

Greg took the key. "I don't have a condom."

"I'm on the pill. Please!" She begged. "You can't be this hesitant. I know you've been waiting and have been patient."

"Okay, hey, don't need to convince me." Greg grinned and looked to the taxi driver. "Apple Inn."

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Kathrine's bathroom, Month: February, Day: Friday 22nd, Year: 1991, Time: 9:30 AM…

Kat was shaking. It had started four days ago. She'd missed her period. She waited, going through the normal symptoms of her period, headaches, cramps that hurt and the bloating. But just a little spotting. Like two drops on the pads, not even that. She at this point had skipped school and gone to the gas station and got three boxes that she never thought she'd need to get. She had one in front of her. She knew you should test yourself a week after intercourse if it was unprotected, and she knew they had been. She was on the pill. And yet, here it was. A test stick with a bright pink plus sign. She picked it up and bit her lip. She didn't want this. It really messed with her plans…and yet she wanted it, just later in her life.

'It's fine. It could be a false positive. Give it a week.' Her mind told her.

She shook her head. She could wait a week and take the test again.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Kathrine's bathroom, Month: March, Day: Friday 1st, Year: 1991, Time: 9:30 AM…

She was hungrier and that had given her a major scare more than the possibility of being pregnant. She thought she had the T-Virus until she took some time to calm down and think clearly. She gripped the test stick and bit her lip as the pink plus sign showed up again. She shook her head.

'It's okay, you could just be sick. Give it another week.' Her mind told her.

'No. I'm pregnant. I have not had a period. I feel hungry and sick at the same time.' She glared at her reflection.

"Dad's going to kill me." She muttered.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Kathrine's bathroom, Month: March, Day: Friday 8th, Year: 1991, Time: 9:30 AM…

'Dead. I am so fucking dead. Dad is going to kill me.' Kat thought as she finished throwing up.

She wiped her mouth with toilet paper and grabbed up the latest test. A pink fucking plus sign. She swallowed hard. She was three weeks. She had to be. How in the hell did she get the worsted luck? Pregnant after her first time. It was the first time; she was on the pill and it didn't work. She leaned on the counter and swallowed hard, before leaving the bathroom. She gripped the test shakily before going downstairs. She felt her heart racing as she entered the dining room to see her father finish up his breakfast.

He looked up at her as she gripped the sides of the chair. "Are you feeling any better? You've missed school a lot. Graduation is in three months."

"D-dad…please don't be mad at me." She got out.

"Sweetie, how can I get mad at you? You're so lovely." Michael said putting the paper down.

"I'm…" She closed her eyes. "I'm pregnant."

She waited a moment before opening her eyes and held up the test. Her father looked like he wanted to punch a hole through the universe, then to the center of the earth.

"Who's?"

"Dad, don't hurt him." She said lowering her hand.

"It was Greg, wasn't it?" Michael asked his voice low and hard. "When? When did you have sex?"

"Dad!" Kat breathed out, feeling a rush of emotions, her mouth filled with a taste like she'd been sucking on a nail. "It's not his fault, I was on the pill and—"

"Did he wear a condom? Did it break?" Michael asked as he stood and grabbed his coat.

"He didn't have a condom." Kat admitted. "But I was on the pill. We thought we were fine?"

"Get your coat on." He ordered.

"What?" Kat asked.

"We're going to the hospital for a professional test." He said. "I want to make damn sure that you're really pregnant before I kill him."

"Dad!" Kat begged. "Don't kill Greg, you have no reason to." She said feeling tears fall.

"GET YOUR GOD DAMN COAT AND MEET ME AT THE CAR!" He thundered.

Kat nodded shakily and did as she was told. She still couldn't believe how badly she'd screwed up.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon General Hospital, Area: Examination room, Month: March, Day: Friday 8th, Year: 1991, Time: 10:47 AM…

Kat looked down at the floor, her leg bouncing as she bit her lip. Her father next to her on a phone, calling to reschedule a meeting with Irons and some Umbrella reps. Just then the door opened. Kat jumped as her father finished up his call and a doctor came in.

"Hello, Mister Mayor. Hello, Kathrine." Dr. Howard said looking at a file. "I have the results." He told them. "You are indeed pregnant."

Kat swallowed. "How?" She asked. "It was my first-time having sex and I was on the pill."

"Sometimes the pill fails. It's rare but it happens." Dr. Howard explained. "And it might have been your first time, but you can get pregnant at any time. There is nothing that says you can't the first time you have intercourse."

Kathrine looked down. 'This is not good…but…'

"What options does she have, Dr. Howard?" Michael asked, worriedly.

"Well, as unpopular as it is, abortion. The other is carrying it to term, after that you've got two. Keep it or give it up for adoption." Dr. Howard told them. "I'll leave you to think of something."

He then left the room. Kat hugged herself as she thought. She had nothing against abortion, but…she had never had a child before. In her old life, she'd been Ace. Here, she clearly wasn't and now had a baby growing inside her. As scary as it was, as much as it changed and messed with her plans…

"You're going to give it up." Michael told her.

Kat spun to look at her father. "I'm keeping it." She stated. "I can do this." She said with more confidence then she thought. "I swear it, dad. I'll have it, I'll finish school. I'll apply for collage; my plans are still the same. They are just a little tweaked." She told him.

He looked at her with narrowed eyes. "The stress of having a child is a bigger responsibility then having a dog, Kathrine."

"I know that. But I can't give it up. I just can't." Kat told him. "It's mine."

He looked at her and sighed. "You'll apply to a collage after a year. If at the end of that year before you go, you prove you can take care of the child, then you can keep it for the rest of your life. But if you can't, it would be in the child's best interest for you to give it up."

Kat swallowed, but nodded. "I swear I will." She told him with determination and conviction.

"Now, you'll have to talk with Greg. I won't kill him, yet." Michael said sounding like he was trying to keep calm.

'Right. I have to tell Greg still.' She thought.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon High School, Area: Parking Lot, Month: March, Day: Saturday 9th, Year: 1991, Time: 9:47 AM…

Kat finished writing in her diary as Greg's car pulled up. She put it away and took a breath as he turned off his car and got out. He looked concerned.

"Hey, babe, what's wrong? You've been off for the past three weeks." Greg asked as he came over to her car, were she hugged herself and leaned on her door.

"Greg…I've got to tell you something and you can't freak out." Kat told him.

"Okay, you're already freaking me out by saying that." Greg stated.

Kat took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."

Greg started at her and started laughing. But then he looked at Katherine, seeing she wasn't laughing, in fact, she looked offended. "You're…you're serious."

"Yes. I would never joke about this." Kat told him. "I'm pregnant and it's yours."

He ran his hands over his hair looking away from her. "So…it was prom night…that's when it…" He looked at her. "Shit."

"I know. It's hard." Kat started.

"Are you going to get rid of it?" Greg asked.

Kat hugged her stomach. "What do you mean?"

"Abortion. I think you're still in the range for it to be legal." He explained making Kat's eyes widen. "You can't carry it to term, Kathrine. Your dad with kill me." He looked at his car. "We can go to the store. Get the pills. It's not too late."

"I'm not getting rid of it, Greg." Kat said feeling hurt. "I'm keeping it."

He turned around to her. "Don't be ridiculous. What about your dad? What about me? You're dad's reputation will be ruined. So, will mine." He walked closer. "I can't have 'Teen dad' on my transcripts. I can't have people know that I got the Mayor's daughter pregnant. It will ruin me, Kit Kat."

She shook her head. "Is that all you care about? Your reputation?" She was shocked and hurt that that's what he was thinking about. "It won't affect your collage transcripts. The only thing it would effect is what people say. Do you really only care about word of mouth?"

"You're not thinking straight." Greg decided turning back to his car. "It's the pregnant hormones. You just need it out of you and then you'll be back to normal."

"Greg, answer me!" Kat hissed. "Why do you care about what other people say?" Then a dark thought came to mind as she pushed off her car. "Did you…did you only like me because of my status?"

"What are you talking about, just get in the car." Greg stated shaking his head.

"Did you ever really like me? Did you love me?" She asked feeling tears forming. "Was it just because I'm the mayor's daughter?"

"Just get in the car." Greg said lowly.

Kat shook her head feeling the tears escape as she blinked. "Yes or no, Greg. Did you only date me because I'm the mayor's daughter?"

There was a long pause.

That was all the answer she needed. "I don't believe you."

"Kit Kat…"

"Don't call me that!" She yelled, red faced as the tears flowed. "Don't fucking call me! Don't come after me!" She got into her car throwing her bag and diary in and closing the door.

"Kathrine!" Greg yelled at her, trying to get the door open as she locked it. "Babe, come on!"

Kat ignored him and pulled out. She drove away from the school and back home.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Warren Residence, Area: Kathrine's room, Month: April, Day: Wednesday 17th, Year: 1991, Time: 4:47 AM…

Kathrine sat at her desk looking at her diary and gripped the phone to her ear. "Greg, I've told you. I don't want to see you or talk to you."

"Come on, I'm right outside, just talk to me." Greg begged.

"I already said no. What part of that do you not understand? Would you like me to say it in Spanish? No! How about German? Nein!" She hissed to him.

"Kathrine…Please." Greg begged but he sounded pissed off.

"I've told you an uncountable amount of times. N. O. No!" Kathrine growled trying to keep calm.

"Fine! Then I'll talk to your dad to make you get rid of it! I'm not paying child support later!" He yelled.

Kat felt a deep rage grow. "Don't threaten me or my baby, Greg. You'll regret it." She said so eerily calm she scared even herself. "Don't ever call me again. We are done and over." She then hung up and closed her eyes for a few moments.

She opened her eyes as she looked to her diary. She picked it up and a pen and started thinking. She needed a new plan. If she wanted her and her child to get out of Raccoon, she needed a deep and thorough plan. First off, she needed a map.

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvani,a City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon General Hospital, Area: Examination room, Month: May, Day: Saturday 4th, Year: 1991, Time: 12:41 AM…

Kathrine hissed at the cold chill of the gel. Then watched as her OB-GYN moved the ultrasound wand over her gelled abdomen. The doctor smiled after moving it around.

"There we are." She said pointing to the screen, making Kathrine twist her head a bit. "It's growing nicely. Can't tell the gender just yet, but it looks healthy for the most part at this point."

Kathrine really couldn't tell much, but her doctor seemed to know what to look for, so she trusted her. "That's good. I was worried. You know with my age."

"I completely understand, but you should be fine for now, same with your baby."

Country: The United States of America, State: Pennsylvania, City: Raccoon, Place: Raccoon Police Station, Area: Waiting Room, Month: May, Day: Wednesday 15th, Year: 1991, Time: 11:09 AM…

Kat sighed shaking her head. "Why did I have to come?" She asked him as she rubbed the beginning of her baby bump.

"Because your doctor said you need to move around more. Your teacher called, you fainted in class today?" Michael asked his daughter.

Kat bit her lips together. "I didn't faint, I felt like I was going to. I'm fine though. I just need more iron in my food."

"Kathrine…" Michael stressed. "You shouldn't treat it so lightly."

"I'm fine, dad." She told him.

Irons's secretary came out and waved them to come with her.

"We'll continue this later." Michael told her lowly as she stood with her.

Kat nodded as they walked through the door. "I don't like coming here, dad."

"You should. It's the safest place in the city." He told her smiling.

"I don't like Irons." Kat stated, feeling her hands move to her belly.

"Why not? He'd a good chef." Michaels said as they got to the Chef's office.

"Call it a gut feeling." She told him. 'Or rather the knowledge that he wants to kill me and stuff me like one of his creepy trophies.' She shuttered. 'What will he want to do to my baby when he learns I'm pregnant? Probably kill it. He'll see it as an obstacle.'

She swallowed as she and her father entered Iron's office. Kat shuttered at the stuffed creatures. Normally she admired the art and skill in taxidermy, but because of her new life and what she knew, it freaked her out. The creatures in the room with their glass eyes and stagnant poses scared her as she imagined herself like that.

"Good morning, Mayor Warren." Irons smiled.

"Good morning, Chef Irons." Michael smiled and shook hands with the chef.

"And hello, Kathrine, as lovely as ever." Irons said as he took one of her hands and kissed the top of it.

"Morning, Irons." Kat said trying not to sound too stiff.

The meeting was pretty boring, until Irons asked how Kat was. Her hands moved to her small bump. She suddenly felt power over Irons. As dangerous as she knew he was, she wanted him to feel uncomfortable. She wanted to get under his skin like he had to her. She let the satisfaction for not being the perfect doll he had seen for years show in a smile. After all, pregnancy causes stretch marks, and that ruins skin. The skin, she knew was part of why he'd become obsessed with her for, was about to be ruined.

"I'm pregnant." She beamed, masking the dark joy that she'd get under Irons' skin with the bright joy of being a mother to be. "Three months."

"Oh…When…" Irons looked a mix of emotions as his eyes moved to her stomach.

Kat smiled at how he looked angered, hurt, and confused. Perhaps he had the mental image of her being the perfect angel in white, pristine, and untouched by any man. She enjoyed bursting that image and ripping it to pieces. All because she was pregnant, and there was only one way for that to happen to a teenager. Sex. She was officially not a virgin, in the biggest way possible. She then felt a bit of watery weight in her lower half and grimiest.

"Sorry. I've got to go to the bathroom." She stood and looked to her dad. "I'll be right back."

"Take your time." Michael told her as she left the room.

By the time she was in the bathroom, she felt the adrenaline rush from the power she had, vanish and she crashed onto a toilet shaking. She suddenly was terrified. What she's said and done, could very well put her child in danger. Irons could become unstable sooner because of what she'd done. He could try to kidnap her child later and take them to the orphanage. She felt sick as she relived herself. What if he took her child to Umbrella as a test subject? Like the children from the remake. What if he tried to hurt her child?

She felt sicker as she remembered Umbrella. How much of her home, her things, had been paid for by the corporation? How much was it blood money? Bribe money to look the other way. She cleaned herself and flushed the toilet before spinning around and throwing up. How many bones of test subjects were under her feet in the sewers? How many creatures who might have been dogs, people, were below her in NEST suffering? How many were dying as she blissfully lived up above ground? She vomited again at the thought of death. As she sat there on her knees, her mind rushed. She couldn't live there. After she put in for collage, she'd move herself and her baby to where it was and stay there until it's over. That would be best and safest.

She stood slowly and flushed the toilet. Of course, she could always give up the child for adoption out of state, but then she'd spend the rest of her life worrying. No, she'd keep them, and she'd just find a school out of the state or country for her and her child escape to and live.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm round of applause for our graduates!" Called the principle over the microphone.

People clapped as the line of seniors walked in red caps and gowns. Kat smiled among them as she walked. She joined them in taking their seats. One by one after some speeches from the principle, the valedictorian, a few collage and Umbrella reps, diplomas were handed out, starting with honors students then everyone else.

"Kathrine Warren!" called the principal.

Kat stood carefully and walked to the stage, her baby bump a bit more pronounced and she'd feel the tiny kicks or punches from the baby. She walked to the principle and took her diploma shaking his hand. After a few pictures were taken, she walked back to her seat. Then it was the tassel switching. Kat was now officially an alumnus of Raccoon High School.

Kat bit her lip at the gel's cool touch and the wand rubbing it in.

"Let's see…there we go. Growing just nicely." Her doctor told her making Kat looked the screen of the ultrasound. "There, see? That's a tiny hand and face."

Kathrine smiled at seeing that. "Can the gender be determined yet?"

"You are just passed your 20th week, so absolutely. Do want to know the gender?" Her doctor asked.

Kat thought about it then nodded. "I want to narrow down a list of names."

Her doctor nodded and moved the wand slowly. "Okay, let me look." After a few moments, her doctor smiled. "Congratulations. It's a girl!"

Kat grained. "Really?" She asked.

"Yes. A health baby girl." Her doctor smiled.

Kat beamed as she held her baby girl in her arms. She and her baby were very lucky. So many things could've gone wrong. She had the epidural but didn't push it in time for the actual birth, so she felt the full pain of it. She refused to scream like the other women in the birthing word, she wasn't quiet, but she wasn't terribly ear splinting loud either. She had some vaginal tearing, but not enough to really worry about. Her baby was healthy and a decent weight.

Because of how well the birth went Kat had her daughter's full name. Rose Fortuna Warren. She had a very Gerber like look to her and her hair was a light brown color. Her eyes for the moment were bright blue, but she knew that they might change color at some point in the following weeks or month. Kat didn't care. Her only concern now was her daughter and her life.
