Marjan sat next to Paul, her foot tapping with a flurry of pent up energy. When the Captain had called, she had just started to do her yoga routine at home, settling down for a quiet, and hopefully restful, evening. But as soon as Cap explained what had happened, she was flying around her room, tripping over her mat in her haste to put back on her hijab.

And now, she sat, waiting...waiting for some news of how her friends were doing. Marjan understood that this was a downside of the job, but the number of incidents where someone ended up in this exact same hospital was getting ridiculous. Marjan glared at the ugly pale, yellow walls as she shifted awkwardly, deciding to let her anger out at whoever decided that hospital chairs needed to be so uncomfortable.

She jumped when Paul rested his hand on her leg, noticing her anxiety easily with those keen senses of his. "She'll be alright," he said quietly, patting her leg gently.

She? Who was Paul talking about? "Of course T.K. will be okay, this is nothing like the last time we were here," Marjan stammered, trying to ignore Paul's knowing look that he shot her. Of course she wasn't worried about T.K., she was worried about Nancy. Damn Paul and his powers.

"I-I'm not good at this. I never have been," Marjan whispered quietly, trying to not draw the rest of the 126's attention. She looked down at her hands in embarrassment, trying to hide the discomfort she was feeling but failing miserably as a couple tears filled her eyes.

"No one is good when they are waiting to find out how their loved ones are doing," Paul replied, equally as quiet. "All we can do is wait, and hope," he concluded, sliding a welcome arm around her shoulders.

It felt like ages until the doctor came out to give the team an update. Marjan nodded at all the right points and then slipped into the hallway, heading right to Nancy's room. She had to check on Nancy, in person, to see for herself that she was alright.

Nancy was laying down, facing the other direction when she entered. Not wanting to startle her, Marjan whispered a quiet hello to get her attention, giving her a gentle smile when she rolled over to see who was in the room.

Pulling up a seat to Nancy's bed, Marjan quickly assessed how her friend was doing. Unlike T.K., she had been able to escape the horrible incident with minimal injuries. But the doctor had said that they were keeping them all overnight to monitor.

"What are you doing here Marjan?" Nancy asked, her voice cracking slightly. "Why aren't you with the rest of the 126 looking in on T.K.?"

Marjan could hear the disbelief in Nancy's question, surprised to see her there instead. Figuring it was now or never, Marjan leaned forward, gently pushing a strand of hair that had fallen in Nancy's eyes out of the way. Looking into those beautiful eyes, wishing she could erase the pain written throughout them, Marjan leaned in and captured Nancy's lips gently in a kiss. Nancy's lips were soft, softer than she was expecting and Marjan could feel her pulse quicken when she realized that Nancy was kissing her back. While the kiss was gentle, innocent, Marjan could still feel her legs get shaky at the unspoken promise of future passion, as Nancy propped herself up with her elbow to deepen the kiss.

Finally, the need for air arose, and Marjan reluctantly broke off the kiss, pulling back slightly from Nancy but refusing to completely break contact, letting her hand linger on top of Nancy's. The room was silent, but not with regret. Instead, Nancy and Marjan continued to look lovingly at each other, sappy grins growing wider on both of their faces.

"So, I take it this isn't how you check in on all kidnapped paramedics?" Nancy teased, deciding to make the first comment. She turned her hand so that she could hold Marjan's hand properly.

"Only the special ones," Marjan replied honestly, flirting back while trying to ignore the horrible image that Nancy's comment conjured. She really didn't need to think about kissing T.K. after that amazing kiss with Nancy.

A few more minutes of awkward silence passed until Nancy finally got the courage to ask the question she wanted to. "C-can you stay for awhile?" Nancy asked softly, not looking at Marjan while she waited for an answer.

"I wasn't planning on going anywhere," Marjan replied, gripping Nancy's hand tighter.

Paul sauntered down the hall, the team having just been kicked out of Tommy and T.K.'s rooms due to visiting hours being over. He poked his head into Nancy's room, to see if Marjan or Nancy needed anything before he headed home, but quickly stopped himself from making any loud noises. Smiling, Paul took in the sight. They were both asleep; Marjan's head was resting on the bed while Nancy's hand was resting on her hijab. Taking a quick picture, knowing that Marjan might want a copy for later, he slowly backed out of the room, leaving the two lovebirds alone. It was about time.
