On a chilly morning in December with a gentle snowfall, Marinette Dupain-Cheng laid above the blankets on her bed. It was day two of her two week vacation from school. As much as she was going to enjoy the break from the responsibilities of school life she already missed seeing her friends. She missed seeing Adrien the most. She could see Alya-or rather any of them but Adrien was another story. His father was quite difficult and overprotective. She just hoped he could get out of the house and enjoy a bit of this vacation. Beside the Akuma attacks she knew she would have to deal with, she planned for a fun-filled vacation.
The fresh aroma of baked goods knocked on Marinette's door; slipping through the cracks to kiss the girl. The warmth invading her nose, causing her stomach to rumble. Turning on her side her eyes rested upon the red kwami curled up on her pillow. Marinette's lips curled upwards into a smile as she watched the creature slumber. They were such adorable creatures when they slept. Not wanting to wake her, Marinette slowly sat up. If anything should wake her, it should have been the smell of delicious food.
Checking the time on her phone, Marinette felt the sharpness of a deep sigh rumble from the depths of her chest. The phone read 8:00AM. She'd hope she could have slept in a bit longer than she actually had. Scrolling through the notifications on her phone she found that FaceBook had been the major app to leave her with several things to read and clear. Alya LadyBlog had left her a few as well. Nothing major, Alya had been reporting less since the akuma attacks became a bit more violent than they originally were. Most times she posted about ChatNoir and his amazing fighting moves or facts about LadyBug herself. Speaking of Alya~
Hey girl! We are going IceSkating in the park today!
Adrien will be there ;)

Really? Shoot me the time! I'll be there!

As she waited for Alya to text her back she felt the sudden whoosh of air, bringing up her eyes she met the little red creature she had sworn to not wake up. She held her hands out, palms up.
"Good morning, Tiki." Marinette cooed with lifted lips. "I didn't mean to wake you."
"You didn't." The creature plopped down on her palm, returning the same smile. "Your parents' food woke me."
"Pretty amazing smell, huh?"
The Kwami giggled. "Always!"
Getting onto her feet, Marinette made her way towards her dresser, by then Tiki had left her palm and floated beside her, watching as she prepared herself for the day.
"What are we going to do today?" Tiki asked, shifting her gaze to the outside. "I haven't seen snow in forever."
"Well, you're in luck." Marinette told the Kwami while shifting through shirts to wear. "Alya said she's going ice skating today." She paused, frowning when she couldn't find something that matched or peaked her interest.
After several seconds Tiki flew into the girl's line of vision, crossing her arms. "And?"
"Sorry," she muttered under her breath. "Alya invited me. Means you'll be able to play in the snow." Winter has been extremely late this year with snow. Marinette wondered if Global warming wasn't getting any better despite what she heard and read about. "Adrien will be there!" Her voice had chirped up. "Maybe we will skate together!"
Tiki's azure hues rolled but she smiled at the same time. "Good luck, Marinette. Maybe today you'll be able to talk to him normally. You seem confident!"
Finally Marinette had found something that she liked, quickly she changed while agreeing with Tiki about being confident in this. She was. She had to be. She couldn't be clumsy for her whole life. After she dressed, she brushed her teeth, hair and grabbed her sachet, unzipping it for Tiki to slip into.
As she was about to exit her room and head downstairs to the bakery something caught her eye. Something she at first thought was just a bird but further exclamation proved it was not that. She had seen a full body figure pass her window, on the third floor. She heard a thud pound on her ceiling, something had landed on her roof and walked along it.
Another thud and Marinette noted that whatever or whoever it was had found her balcony. She felt compelled to investigate ignoring protests from the Kwami in her sachet.. Tiki almost seemed terrified to go out the hatch door. Marinette was curious, she couldn't control her curiosity. She opened the door quietly, gazing out but seeing nothing.
"Weird," she squinted before emerging from her room. She stepped towards the balcony and gazed out, not finding any signs of any activity. That was until she turned, her eyes grazing across a figure that presented itself to her finally. It took her a moment to register the fact it had been standing there but Marinette's heart sank when she saw.
"ChatNoir. . ." His name left her mouth as cold as he looked. His suit which once was the color of the midnight sky presented itself as ivory as the snow. Those forest green eyes that were always warm and welcoming had been replaced with blue hues that held no life. ChatNoir looked like a ghost of his former self. He looked empty, emotionless.
"I'm not ChatNoir anymore." He told her, allowing his lips to fall into a flat line as he said it. He took one step towards her while she took one step back. Fear had begun to seep into her head. "I'm ChatBlanc."
"You're.." She tried to muster the courage to talk, the sudden unease that had been Tiki's had finally washed over her. She continued to step back until she was against the wall while Chat closed in on her. He placed his arms on either side of her, trapping her from moving. He leaned in, his breath brushing over her skin.
He's Akumatized
She shivered
Not from the cold
But because of him.
Marinette closed her eyes and awaited whatever it was that was about to happen. ChatBlanc was the akumatized version of her partner and friend but would he hurt her regardless of what he's become? Part of her hoped ChatNoir was somewhere inside fighting. She was too scared to open her eyes.
"I won't hurt you Marinette." He assures her after a moment of unease silence. This gets her to open her eyes and look up at him. He's inches from her face. She studies him further, trying to find signs of her kitty. Even his hair is white. . . She noted. She nodded at his words.
I won't hurt you Marinette.
Does the same promise lie with LadyBug? ChatNoir was now Blanc and under ShadowMoths control. She couldn't transform, not in front of him. She wouldn't be able to take his akuma and purify him. Part of her knew he wouldn't hurt her as LadyBug either. He did love her after all. There had to be some remorse.
"What are you doing here, ChatBlanc?" She made sure to call him by the name he currently preferred. She couldn't irritate him, he was still unpredictable. His smile assured her that she had made the correct choice with the name calling. He had leaned in closer, his lips almost touching hers-almost.
She wondered if a kiss would break the akumas hold.
"I was just in the neighborhood and thought I'd check on my princess." He purred, expressing himself in a way that she could register he was being true on his word. He wasn't going to hurt her. She wasn't his target audience. Or so he assumed. "I'm looking for a certain woman you see."
"Who might that be?" She asked, playing dumb. She already knew.
Marinette would have found comfort in his purring had ChatBlanc been ChatNoir. She felt anything but confort, she felt absolute fear. She swallowed, she knew the answer to her question but eye widened when he cracked a small chuckle, something she hadn't expected. "I'm looking for a woman to keep me warm at night."
She couldn't decide if she should attempt to laugh or not. She couldn't tell if he was being serious or playful. He was blank, everything about him screamed red flags. She was so screwed and the wrong choice would probably end her life. Tiki's unease shook through Marinette.
"I'm kidding," ChatBlanc stepped back but never kept his eyes off her. They seemed to travel up and down her figure. He was feasting upon her and she could do nothing about it but allow it. This must be some sort of violation. She would have to look into it later. "I'm looking for LadyBug but like I said, I wanted to see my fair princess."
Silence.
"Why?" She was so fucking scared to ask because she knew the awnser to this question to. He was after her Miraculous. The one person who was supposed to help protect their Miraculous was now going to attempt to steal it. The worst part is, he is more than capable. She wanted to vomit at the thought.
"ShadowMoths intentions are not evil." He says but sounds unconvinced by his own words. "I've been asked to retrieve her earrings. I told him I wouldn't hurt her. She's my lady."
Oh Chaton.
Sadness swept over her. Her poor kitty was still there, helpless. She wanted to step towards him to comfort him but her body refused to move.
"But, I'll hurt her if I have to."
He didn't have to add that.
Marinette let a breath escape. "I haven't seen LadyBug in a few days." She states while licking her lips. She watches ChatBlanc tilt his head to the side as confusion plays on his face. "No Akuma attacks until now."
ChatNoir had always saved the people of Paris and to see him on the other side bothered her deeply while he seemed unfazed by the change of team. That was the akuma taking hold. ChatBlanc wasn't her ChatNoir. Chat would never think twice about harming LadyBug, let alone the people he protected.
Marinette's body quivered and shook from both fear and the cold but she stayed rooted to where she stood. ChatBlanc had noticed her shivering and chalked it off as to her just being cold. "You should go inside." He said softly gesturing his hand to the hatch. This was her chance to get away, he would leave once she went back inside.
"Okay.." She whispers before taking her steps towards the hatch feeling his eyes on her back. They were burning into her backside. It almost felt real. She bent down and opened the hatch, allowing the cold air to seep into her room. "Oh, Marinette." ChatBlanc called out, causing her to turn, he was perched on her railing.
"I'll be seeing you again soon."
(Insert gap here)
Marinette had been quick to text Alya and let her know she wouldn't be showing up to the park today and needed her help with the current situation of ChatNoir. Alya was quick to respond telling Marinette she'd be over soon, she just had to text Nino and Adrien. Marinette would sulk about not seeing Adrien later.
This wasn't the first time she had seen ChatNoir akumatized, the future had already shown her that. He was dangerous and unpredictable then, Marinette assumed it was a mix between the akuma, isolation and what he had done to her. Perhaps if she had gotten there sooner he wouldn't have been far into the madness.
She handled it well just now, her dreams often were of him akumatized. Her dreams of him were horrifying. He'd known who she was and stopped at nothing to have her. She'd come close to dying in her dreams but woke herself up before the final blow. ChatBlanc of the future had scarred her soul for life.
ChatBlanc of this time had yet to reach that stage, he'd been gone but not too far. Maybe she could reason with him as LadyBug, perhaps she could free him with ease. Her eyes trailed over to Tiki who had been by the window, still affected by the sight of ChatBlanc, sadness and worry painted her face.
"Don't worry, Tiki. We will save Plagg and ChatNoir." Marinette assured her Kwami who only looked back at Marinette and offered her a small smile, perhaps unconvinced. Hell, Marinette wasn't even convinced. She had all she could do to stop him in the future, could she really do it again?
The sound of her door opening took her from her thoughts, as the Kwami's hid, Marinette heaved a sigh of relief when it had just been Alya. She hadn't wasted any time getting here. Worry had been written all over her face. "Girl, please tell me your text was a mere joke to get me here?" She asked, hoping.
"I'm afraid not." Marinette replied, meeting Alya Gaze. "He's been akumatized." Saying that sentence sent needles through Marinette's body. She almost felt sick.
"How did it happen?" Alya asked, frowning.
If Marinette had the answer she would have definitely given it to Alya. ChatNoir was spunky, loud and obnoxious but he never let his mood falter, at least in his hero suit. She wondered if he was the same spunky person in his civilian life. It occurred to her that she in fact didn't know much about him, despite the length of time knowing him.
That was her fault she forbid talk of their life outside the costume.
After all this time, she assumed that if he had a bad life, wouldn't he have been akumatized long before now? The future version of Blanc had spoken of HawkMoth finding out things they kept secret. Perhaps ShadowMoth had found out something, maybe who ChatNoir was?
No, ChatNoir wasn't stupid enough to let his idenity be found. Something had to have happened between now and their last patrol together. It had been several days since seeing him. Oh God, it had been several days since the last akuma. She should have known something was wrong.
"I'm really not sure, Alya. I don't know anything outside his hero identity." Marinette spoke softly, feeling more discouraged by the minute.
"I wonder if maybe he left you any messages?" Alya asked with a more hopeful tone. Marinette's eyes lit up. She'd forgotten all about the fact that their suits were enchanted with all the tools they possibly needed for any situation. Getting to her feet, she takes one look at Tiki before saying "Spots on!"
LadyBug reached for her yoyo and allowed the top slide open, a screen flashes white before turning on. She scrolls through her contacts, messages. Discouragement coats her face. "Alya.." Her voice comes out in a whisper. "ChatNoir…"
"What?"
"ChatNoir.. His contact number is gone!" His image, his silly messages, the voicemails. It was all erased. This couldn't be happening, she couldn't lose him. "Oh Chat.." Sorrow pooled over her. She could feel the tears burn her eyes. She was so stupid, so fucking stupid. His lack of presence, no Akumas.
"Who's that?" Alya had been looking over LadyBugs shoulder and spotted the new contact in the yo-yo. LadyBug had been too distracted by the missing ChatNoir to notice. LadyBug noted that the contact had no name or picture, it was blank with a single message left unopened. So she opened it.
"We have something to discuss, meet me at our spot at dusk."
LadyBug didn't have to play the guessing game, she knew who it was even before she read the message, a gut feeling had told her it was Chat who was the unnamed contact. She wondered if the miraculous wasn't recoxinging him because of the akumatized. She shuts her yo-yo and places it at her side before sitting back in her chair. "Spots off."
Marinette holds her hand out as Tiki emerges from the light and lands on her hand waiting for her treat which Alya gives. Marinette closes her eyes, still trying to process everything that's going on. "I can go and talk to Chat for you if you do not feel safe doing it." Alya suggests. Marinette shakes her head.
"No, he'll be furious if it's not LadyBug." Marinette knew that ChatNoir wasn't fond of Rena Rouge, not as much as he used to be. She relied on Rena Rouge maybe a little too much and ended up causing those waters to be murky. ChatNoir had felt like LadyBug was slowly pushing him to the side.
Maybe she had been at one point, after her fight with ChatBlanc in the future timeline she had been fearful of him. She didn't want what happened in that timeline to repeat. She'd done so good at avoiding it, until now. Though this time it wasn't because he knew who she was. Something else had triggered this event.
"He'll hurt you if you take my place, Alya." Marinette opens her eyes again to face her best friend, the only person left in her world who she could trust and rely on. "But you can come with me. I'll need backup in case things go sour."
"Sure, Mari." Alya offered her a smile.
"Just tell me what I need to do."
