AN: I do not own any characters of My Hero Academia, all rights belong to Kohei Horikoshi. My very own character Tomoya Shuichi has nothing to do with the MHA character named Shuichi.

This is a fantasy alternate universe, obviously with magic, dragons and other mystical creatures. Wanna know how the characters roughly look: browse the fantasy themed 2end popularity poll artwork (aka third ending theme of the anime). I won't write it out in detail because I'm lazy and pictures work better than descriptions ;)

Enjoy my work and don't hesitate to point out mistakes, I have no beta.

Full Summary:

Being burdened with the care of a dragon's egg, Tomoya Shuichi has to overcome many obstacles, besides the unforgiving wild of the northern mountains and the lands beyond. The barbarian tribe hassle may not be the only trouble they have to face and he isn't certain if the blond barbarian he encountered supposes to actually help him or if his companionship is more trouble than luck. But he is sure to find out somewhere along the way and might as well enjoy the hindrance to peaceful mornings named Katsuki Bakugo while it lasts.

Tomoya Shuichi angrily kicked a stone out of his way cursing his current situation. Flying was ridiculous and breathtaking and simply great, but he still wished he had not made the experience the way it turned out. They could at least have taken him someplace different … like somewhere on the way were he wanted to be and not this god damn cursed rats nest and then leave him alone to care for himself.

Not to forget he got separated from his pack. How the hell was he supposed to meet up with them before winter? Besides the ridiculous far distance they were apart now he would need to find them with no idea of where they might have run to. Back home to wait for his return? Searching for him following his smell in the air? Or back to the northern mountains where they had been last? He might want to try to get back to the mainland first before thinking of his pack. They probably had less trouble than him anyway.

Sighing, the black haired, blue eyed male looked around for his destination hoping he had gone into the right directions. The suspicious hag from the market was rather vague with her specifications and even with his good sense of orientation one might easily get lost in this random cluster of buildings and side streets.

It wasn't easy to spot the outline of the greasy gem sellers shop with the thick fog coming from the ocean, but at last he found it. The shop did not look exactly welcoming with the rotten wooden facade and the paint starting to flake off. Only the rough glass window looked cared for and the display showing behind it didn't seem as bad. Walking to the door Shuichi thought about knocking, but with a shake of his head he simply entered. No reason to be polite to the greedy merchant folk, it would only make him look as out of place as he felt. A bell stuck to the upper door frame announced the new customer.

After closing the door behind him, Shuichi looked around carefully in the surprisingly well-lit room. The inside fared better than the outside. Brightly polished brass lamps were seated along the walls of the small, clean space. In the corner behind the front counter with its even brighter lamps of polished silver and next to a sturdy back door sat a burly looking man on a small chair with a sword at his side. The shops guard gave him a curt look over and Shuichi bet there was at least one more in the back room where the more expensive gems were safely stored. The shop owner was nowhere in sight, probably weighing loot in said back room.

In the shop itself he could see an array of low budget jewel chains, bracelets and the like sitting along narrow counters to the wall and below the wide window front with its sturdy iron grates. The front counter had a glass surface protecting the more valuable items currently on display, diamond studded rings and ruby necklaces with fitting earrings for example. Along the wall to its back was a variety of crystal druses and beautiful, uncut crystal assemblies as well as other uncut or already smoothened but yet to be worked gemstones lined on shelves. There even was an array of dragon scales, their dull color telling Shuichi that they must have been taken from dead dragons, and teeth as well as talons of other creatures.

Shuichi did not intend to buy anything though, he rather came to sell. But upon further inspection, while waiting for the owner to return, there was one stone which caught his attention and made him swallow drily.

The 'stone' was about the size of his fist and shaped like an egg. Deep black with veins and veils of multitude colors, its magic seemed to call out to him and suddenly the whole ordeal of being flung to this island made sense. Something inside him wanted to turn tail and search for another shop, a shop that wouldn't bear as much trouble.

He may have never seen the like before, luckily or he might not be alive to tell. Still he was sure about what exactly this stone was. Only the way it ended up in a gem merchants shop was a mystery to him. And while part of him did not wish to be involved into this, the other part was keen to play at being heroic. Not that he had much say in this.

"Beautiful isn't it?"

Shuichi flinched as the shop owner had returned from the back room and caught him staring at the stone.

"It's a geode covered by black opal, the shape is extraordinary. One of my trading partners bought it from northern fishermen which have been fishing past the dragon's border. Unfortunately the actual location of its whereabouts is unknown. But it makes it even more unique don't you think. Might you be interested?"

There goes his negotiation benefit in pretending to be uninterested and judging by the appearance of the old owner and the look he gave him this one would be an especially hard nut to crack. The young male hated these greedy people and had to suppress a groan.

His decision now would bite him in the ass more than one way later, but he didn't think he was given another choice. Not if he wanted to leave the island without being flung right back here. Besides, he knew it was the right thing to do and hoped at least something good would come out of it in the end. Perhaps he could enjoy another flight, one that preferably brought him closer to his home. Not that he wanted to risk it.
