Chapter One: Camp Cretaceous
A/N: Fair warning I am having to type all this out instead of using transcripts so I will not be able to update as fast as I usually can when I have transcripts to work with. So be patient on updates.
"Welcome to Isla Nublar campers. You are the chosen few. The first kids in the entire world to ever experience the awesomeness that is Camp Cretaceous. I know the trip from the mainland was rough on some. Hello Ben. But you made it! I'm Dave. Head counselor. You heard that correctly. Head honcho. Big shot." A man says as Alexis and the other campers are with him on the docks while Ben is throwing up into the water.
"Ah so sorry I'm late." A woman says as she comes over in a jeep.
"Roxie! I didn't know you were gonna be here." Alexis says happily as she sees the woman and goes over.
"Alexis. Good to see you made it okay. How's your mother?" Roxie asks as she smiles.
"Good." Alexis says.
"You two know each other?" A dark skinned boy asks.
"Yeah. Alexis's mom works at the park on the other side of the island. Alexis here was one of the first of you kids accepted to join the camp." Roxie says.
"What does your mom do?" A pink haired girl asks.
"She helps with sick or injured dinosaurs. I helped on occasion." Alexis says proudly.
"Anyways I'm the head counselor of this camp." Roxie says as she goes over to Dave.
"It's sort of a co-head counselor situation." Dave says as Roxie looks at him.
"Is it?" Roxie asks.
"Anyway some of you won contests to be here, some of you have VIP invites, one of you had family who worked for the park and got here that way. But for the next two weeks all of you will be getting the five star treatment!" Dave says.
"As our first campers we've lined up exclusive behind the scenes tour of Jurassic World. As well as kayaking, rock climbing, obstacle courses, and of course-" Roxie then gets cut off by the dark skinned boy.
"Dinosaurs!?" The dark skinned boy asks excitedly.
"Yes.. Darius plenty of dinosaurs. So ready for an adventure?" Roxie asks.
"Absolutely! But I'm gonna need that speech to be a little shorter and really try to lean into the majesty of this place." The pink haired girl says as she is holding a phone.
"Okay we're going now. Let's get the seven of you to camp." Dave says.
"Uh there are six of us." Ben says.
"Wait. Dino-kid, track-star, internet girl, barfy, texas, vet assistant girl. He's right. where's seven?" Dave asks as Roxie looks at her device and scoffs.
*Timeskip*
"Greetings my dudes. Kenji is here so let the party commence! Put this in my room. So what's your deal?" A tall boy with dark hair asks as he gets off a helicopter and tosses his duffle bag to Roxie before heading over to Alexis only for Roxie to throw his stuff at him.
"Nice shot Roxie." Alexis says as she smiles slightly.
"Okay let's go." Roxie says as the kids get in the back of the jeep while she and Dave get up front.
"I'd buckle my seat belt if I was all of you." Alexis says as the kids look at her while she buckles her seat belt.
"Why's that?" Kenji asks before Roxie takes off jerking the kids around a bit.
"That's why." Alexis says as the other kids quickly put their seat belts on.
"Now you tell us." Kenji says.
"I hope you got my mom's note. I don't do well on windy roads." Ben says as the pink haired girl holds her phone up.
"What's good Brooklanders? It's your girl Brooklynn coming at you from the best place ever. Camp Cretaceous. Like and subscribe to join me as I unbox Jurassic World! Okay I need you all to say who you are and a little bit about yourself. And action!" The pink haired girl says as she holds her phone up to Darius.
"Oh! Um.. I beat this awesome VR dinosaur game. I'm Darius by the-" Darius then gets cut off by a dark hair girl with an accent.
"I'm sorry. I just can't believe.. you're Brooklynn! I'm Sammy Gutierrez. Total Brooklander! Oh also my family supplies all the beef for the park and that's how I got here." The dark haired girl says excitedly.
"Great to meet you Sammy." Brooklynn says kindly.
"Um what's a Brooklander?" Darius asks curiously.
"Oh that's just what my online followers call themselves." Brooklynn says bluntly.
"Uh all 27 million of us." Sammy says as she imitates gunshots.
"Yep. That's why the only one who gets to keep her self phone. She's famous." A girl with a ponytail says unimpressed.
"Hold on. Rich and famous? Oh meant to be." Kenji says as he takes Brooklynn's phone and takes a photo with her.
"You know being rich or famous isn't everything." Alexis says as Kenji looks at her.
"Maybe not but it's definitely a good perk. Same as being pretty." Kenji says as everyone looks at Ben seeing he is throwing up before the jeep comes to a rough stop.
"Uh Dave what's going on?" Ben asks as Dave and Roxie get out of the jeep.
"Nothing you need to worry about." Dave says as he and Roxie are holding tasers.
"Says the people holding tasers." Alexis says.
"You should still definitely stay in your seats." Dave says as he and Roxie walk off.
"Hmm?" Alexis asks as she hears rustling behind them before a small dinosaur jumps out and lands on Darius causing the others except for Alexis to jump away.
"What is that!?" Ben asks as Alexis quickly throws her jacket over the dinosaur and picks it up while gently petting it to try and settle it down.
"Gotcha. Easy. It's a Compsognathus Ben. Don't worry I have it under control." Alexis says.
*Timeskip*
"Crisis averted. Oh these things are always getting out of their enclosures. Nice job grabbing it Alexis. You're mother has taught you well." Roxie says as he puts the dinosaur in a cage.
"A real like Compsagnathus!" Darius says excitedly as he watches Roxie put the dinosaur up front.
"Oh please. It took a blanket and a cat carrier to catch it. Boring." Kenji says unimpressed as he sits down.
"Scared you pretty good." Darius says as he looks at Kenji while the girls laugh a bit.
"But if it's boring and not scary to you I guess you won't mind me asking Roxie to put the cage back here so I can look at it to make sure it's not hurt then." Alexis says as Kenji looks at her.
"Uh no no. I'm good." Kenji says as Alexis smiles as the group get going in the jeep before soon arriving at the camp.
*Timeskip*
The group soon arrives at where the campers will be staying.
"So Alexis you're mom works as a vet for the dinosaurs here?" Darius asks as he comes over.
"Yeah. My mom is Kira Blake. Works at the main park." Alexis says as she watches Dave and Roxie pulling luggage toward the door.
"So what kind of dinosaurs do you guys deal with?" Darius asks excitedly.
"Any really. Whichever one needs help. Though my favorite are the Velociraptors. Though anything bigger than a baby my mom will only let me watch. She doesn't want me getting hurt from an adult. Even an injured animal can be dangerous. And it's not the teeth or claws you should worry about. More like the tail or anything else that can knock the breath out of you. Learned that lesson the hard way which is why she don't let me help anymore with adults." Alexis says.
"Cool." Darius says.
"Listen up! Announcement time from your co-head counselors." Dace says as everyone looks at him and Roxie.
"Psst. Still not a thing. Okay everyone there's some ground rules to cover. Curfew's at 8pm and lights out at 9pm sharp. This is for your safety. We are in a dinosaur filled jungle. You must always keep your distance or you could be seriously hurt if not worse. The only one of you that would be ever allowed to be close to a dinosaur is Alexis but that is because she has been trained by professional staff here. Specifically her mother. But even she has her limits as to which dinosaurs she has experience handling and ones she doesn't. So even she needs to follow that rule." Roxie says.
"Define worse." Ben says as the others look at him.
"Cabins are up that a way." Dave says as he points above.
"First one there gets top bunk!" Yazmina shouts as everyone but Darious runs inside.
*Timeskip*
Later as the group is watching a herd of dinosaurs Alexis looks at Darius as he is naming off dinosaurs.
"You really know your stuff huh dino-nerd. And here I thought vet girl knew a lot." Brooklyn says as the others are watching the dinosaurs impressed while Alexis is drawing a couple she is watching.
"Still have your moms journal huh?" Roxie asks as she sees Alexis drawing.
"Yeah. She thought since I couldn't have my phone to tell her about everything I could draw it in her journal. She marked out the pages so they're each for a specific dinosaur with some extra pages in the back for anything else I see." Alexis says.
"You draw?" Yazmina asks as Alexis nods.
"Yes. Not extremely good but I try." Alexis says as she smiles.
"Where are we they herding them to?" Sammy asks as she sees people herding the dinosaurs.
"Should be back to their night time enclosures. Right Roxie?" Alexis asks.
"Correct." Roxie says.
"Enough banter. It's zip line party time." Dave says as everyone goes on the zip line while watching the dinosaurs below.
