A/N: Got this idea from 911.
The brunette and shaggy blonde race towards the office, immediately filled with a sense of relief as they catch sight of Athena swinging her little legs back and forth on the bench.
Kensi's the first to make it through the door. Mama bear mode starting to boil up from within. "Thena?"
"Mom! Dad!" The little girl quickly jumps up, smile written across her face trying to feign as much innocence as possible.
Deeks' attention turns from his wife as she carefully examines their little girl's ebony skin for any physical injuries to the office secretary. "We just saw the Fire Department and Bomb Squad leave. Is everybody okay?"
"Everything is fine now, Mr. and Mrs. Deeks, Ms. Lockhart would like to see the two of you in her office."
Before they can make their way into said office, the woman in question steps out, a stern look across her features and suddenly both adults are transported back to their adolescence. "Mr. and Mrs. Deeks, it seems as though Athena abandoned her lunch box on the playground and what with all the mysterious bombs going off around public places, it was deemed suspicious. So we had to call the fire department and bomb squad."
Kensi stands up, exchanging a look with her husband. Life as parents to an adopted child has been more challenging than they've ever expected. It's wonderful of course, Athena is amazing in so many ways, but there's moments like this that they've all been struggling with for the past 2 years. "Thena, why didn't you say anything?"
"Oh, no." Deeks gasps, catching all three adults and the little girl off guard.
The brunette's brow furrows as she looks at her husband questioningly. "What?"
"I forgot to tell Callen not to pack her tuna." He cringes as he confesses to his wife that he neglected to do something she specifically asked him to do.
