"Edgar, check this thing out, just got Buzz's blow whistle!"
The white haired girl shouted passionately. Colette rushed right up to Edgar who was sitting in front if the cashier machine, showing the red blow whistle taped into her book right to his face.
"Cool. Now get that creepybook away." Edgar replied, with cold tone like he always did.
"For the millionth time, it's not creepybook, it's a scrapbook."
"What's not creepy about collecting other people's parts? You know you can just takes pictures of them."
"Of course I have that too." said Colette, flipping to the other pages of the scrapbook. "Here's Jessie, Bull, the desert trio..."
Then, her eyes moved to a specific picture.
"Hey... Have you seen Leon's full face? Like his eyes?"
"Nope."
said Edgar. Then all of a sudden, Colette grabbed Edgar's scarf and pulled him closer, contacting his pupils with hers. Edgar startled and tried to back away, but she was too fast.
"I got a thing to do! I'm gonna be the first one to see his full face!" She shouted passionately in front of his face. Though there wasn't any reason to do this.
Colette finally let him go, and searched her bag to pull out an instant camera. She lastly nodded at Edgar, and left the giftshop. "See ya later!"
"Whatever." Edgar just mumbled to himself. He'd seen worse.
Across the road, around the theme park. Colette ran around to search for the sneaky little boy. But after a few minutes of run she realized, how could she find Leon who can go invisible? She needed better way. The white haired girl decided to use her information, to search who he's likely to hang out with.
"I don't know. He just likes wandering around. He sometimes visits our scrapyard, plays with me... but he disappears as soon as he notices someone else. He's shy."
First was Jessie, who was in her scrapyard. Colette asked about where he would be, and this was Jessie's reply.
"Huh. Then do you know where he lives?" asked Colette again, while putting a bolt on the floor into her pocket.
"He lives in jungle, obviously. Ask Nita, she's his sister."
So Colette arrived at the jungle. Her bright costume made her look really exotic to this green nature. After a few minutes of walk, she could find a small town with a giant tribal hut.
Colette knocked the door. As soon as the wooden door slowly opened, she rushed in. The girl with bear costume greeted her first, then the Eagle guy.
"Hi guys! Is Leon home?"
"It is rude to rush in like that." Bo spoke calmly.
"Oh, sorry. Anyways, is Leon here?"
Bo seemed to think for a moment, and answered.
"...I'm afraid not now. Next time tell us first so we can ask him."
"Okay!" Colette answered quickly. Despite her nature, she seemed to give up this time. She closed the door and walked away. Footsteps were heard.
"...Is she gone?"
Nita nodded to the air next to her. Then a dark skinned boy appeared out of thin air. He wore green hoodie with yellow stripe. It had rolled tails and blue button eyes as well, making him look like chameleon. He sighed out deeply as she was-
"Gotcha!" Suddenly, Colette bashed in again. "I knew you were here!" She grabbed the little boy's hand and pulled him. Leon just struck dumb for a moment and couldn't resist.
"Colette, it is very rude of you. Let him go." Bo ordered instead of him.
"Aw. don't worry, we're just going to take a picture and it's done!"
Then she pulled Leon even closer. She bent her knees to meet his face level. The little boy was just pulling down his green hoodie to hide his head, blushing.
Colette grabbed his hoodie as well, with shining eyes and beating heart. The mystery was soon to be revealed. She spoke rather seriously.
"Leon, but we have one condition. You need to take off this hood. And show your face- AH!"
His face full red, Leon slightly slit Colette's wrist with a blade from his pocket. As she gasped and lost her grasp, Leon quickly ran away, going invisible again.
"I consider this as mark of honor." said Colette, while Edgar was putting a bandage over her wrist.
"Did you get the picture?"
"No, but I will! I will reveal his face at last!"
Several other attempts were made, but they all failed. Colette was now looking at dozens of Leon's pictures, and imagining how his face would look like. She also marked down several plans to reveal his face.
"You know you're being genuinely creepy now. He's just a kid." said Edgar. "And I'm starting to think you're not even gonna succeed."
"Any advice, Edgar? As someone who also likes to hide face."
Colette spoke as she poked Edgar's violet scarf.
"Advice? Give up. He'll never show it."
"But you showed your full face to me!"
"Because you're... something, to me. Ugh, just ask him what he want. He'll probably grant your wish too, then."
"Okay!" She spoke delightfully, and disappeared again.
"Hey Leon!"
As soon as he saw him, his face went red again, and he pulled out his spinner blades. He nervously took steps back. But before he prepared to flee, she shouted quickly.
"I'm not asking you to take pictures this time!"
The boy stopped his step. He got a bit curious, but he wasn't still putting down his blades. Colette approached him as carefully as she could.
"I'm sorry for stalking you around these days. So I'll make you a present! What do you want?"
The little boy was still cautious. His hands were shaking. But he didn't back up. Now the white haired girl was less than a meter away. Finally, he opened his mouth.
"You work at starr park, right?"
"Yeah."
"I want to ride space blasters."
The two walked along the park. They arrived at the giant roller coaster, space blasters. In front of it there was a height meter, which seemed slightly higher than Leon's height who was around the height of her shoulder.
"Hey kid, you're not tall enough to-"
"I'm a Staff too! And I'm allowing him with me!" Colette shouted, pulling Leon right next to her.
"Whatever. You take the responsibility." The manager knew it was no use to argue with her, so he just passed them in.
They sat on the spaceship-like ride, next to each other. The safety bar went down. Now Leon could see why the height limit was there, the bar was quite loose to him. So the boy grabbed Colette's long sleeves with his other hand.
"Welcome to space blasters. Enjoy your ride."
The rollercoaster slowly accelerated through the neon cave. It was so dark that they couldn't even know what was rail and when the ramp was ending. But after about 20 seconds, they knew. In a flick, and the coaster started to zoom at incredible speed with scream.
Dizzy, windy, speedy, all sorts of feelings crossed across them. It felt as if gravity was wiggling and spiraling. Colette thought maybe with this strong wind, his head might be revealed. But Leon was trying his best to still conceal it. It was too shaky to see him properly anyways, and they were busy screaming.
After about a minute that felt like an hour, the coaster finally hit the flat rail and deaccelerated. Colette just realized how firmly Leon was holding her arm this whole time. It was freshing to see someone clinging to her, since the opposite was usually the case.
"It's a bit, more scary, than I thought..." Leon stuttered a bit, as he took off from the ride.
"I know, right? This might be the scariest thing in this park." Colette agreed. "Wait, actually, the Ghost Abyss1 might be scarier..."
"B-Bring it on."
"Are you sure? You look pretty scared." She mocked, patting his head that was around the level of her shoulder.
"I-I'm not scared! Bet I can even go there on my own!"
So it was their next visit. The giant, dark castle stood in front of them, looking a bit like mortis' graveyard. But behind the door it was almost full black, looking like abyss with no end.
"You may give up here."
"I'm not giving up." Leon as he bravely walked into the seemingly dark, endless door first. He wandered everywhere, why would this be any different?
...Then he spent rest of time sticking to Colette's arms again. For every jumpscare he stuck to her even closer. She was looking at him with wide grin, though everything was dark so he couldn't see her.
"D-D-Don't let go of me Colette."
"Do you think I'm Colette?" Then Colette playfully let his hand go, and pushed him so slightly.
"AAHH!"
Leon screamed and began to run. Colette has never heard such loud, squeaky scream from this shy boy. She giggled and ran to catch him as well.
"Er... I should have come with Nita."
Leon muttered, as he walked out of the dark room with Colette. He was now holding her hands firm. Their height difference made them look like mother and son. Colette began to forget why she was hanging out with this boy with chameleon hoodie, she just enjoyed being with him now.
"Hey, wanna get some snack?" She asked, as she checked her pocket. She had a few bucks.
He simply nodded.
"You like milkshakes?"
Leon nodded again. Her guess was right, he really likes sweet things.
"Alright. Stay here, I'll get some real quick." said Colette sitting him on a table nearby. There were quite many people passing by, which Leon might not like, she thought. Nah, just a few minutes. She ran to the Milkshake shop.
But on her way, suddenly, she heard someone call her.
"Hey, Colette! A little help here?
She stopped to see it was Griff, her boss. 'Darn, I can't ignore him!" She said to herself. Then she immediately responded.
"What's the matter?"
Griff pointed at the people next to him.
Those customers had such weird and surreal complaints. She can't even remember what they exactly said, drugs, gems, living statue..? Yet they were partly true, they found their lost son and returned. The sun had moved visibly when she was finished. She rushed to the table again with her milkshake, as her long shadow followed.
"Hey Leon! Sorry I'm late, I had some work-" "Leon?"
Leon wasn't there.
He was gone. Why couldn't he just wait for a little longer? Then she looked at clock. 40 minutes have passed. 40.
He probably went home, cursing why she'd not returned, why she'd left him in this crowded place. Her most ambitious plan went to nothing.
Well, at least, she had improved relationship with him. Now that boy would think of her more than just a creep.
So Colette just sat around the empty table, and placed her milkshake. Strange noise was heard. Then all of a sudden, She could feel a squeeze on her back. It was Leon.
"I thought you didn't come back." The boy sobbed.
"Of-of course not. I just had some work." She'd never thought someone would be attached to her as she would. Apparently now he was. She just hugged him back. It felt like hugging a soft plushie, but much warmer.
"Come on, let's get your milkshake." She said, after releasing him.
"Uh, Thanks for the trip today, and milkshakes..." Leon spoke shyly, finishing his last bit of milkshake.
"Great you enjoyed it, the starr park thinks first of your enjoyment."
"I, I can go now?" Then Leon stood up. "I mean, I got so much, I think I need to do something in return-"
"Wait wait! I do have one request in return." Colette spoke. All of these were for this moment. Unlike previous attempts, she carefully acted. She bent her knees to meet his face level again, and put a hand on his shoulder. Unlike previous attempts, his breath was stable. So finally, the white haired girl carefully asked.
"...I want to see your face. I've been so desperate to find out. Just once, please?"
Leon thought and thought. Colette's heaty was beating rough. Finally, he answered.
"...Just once. But don't tell it to anyone, don't take pictures!" He declared.
Unexpectedly, Colette nodded. The boy hardly trusted anyone, but this time, her eyes felt genuine now.
Leon raised the hoodie. For the first time, she could look inside of the mysterious boy. For the first time, Leon's shining eyes met with someone even for a few seconds.
Then quickly, he put it back down. Colette giggled.
"D-Don't tell it to anyone!" Leon reminded her again.
"I won't." She said. "But your eyes are beautiful. You should show it someday."
Colette couldn't wipe that weird smile that hung on her face. She lastly petted Leon's head, and decided to go.
As Colette waved, Leon faded out.
