Rwby: Skull Island

Chap 1

"ALL SYSTEMS GREEN!" A random Atlas navy man shouted out.

"GET THOSE SUPPLIES ON THE SHIP!" A Vacuo soldier ordered.

"WEATHER REPORTS SHOW CLEAR SKIES!" A Mistral scientist shouted.

'Clear skies. Yeah, right.' I thought as I sat on an empty crate.

"You know Arc. Had you not tried sabotage this voyage, you wouldn't be chained like a common criminal." Weiss said, smirking. The rest of Team Rwby and my team walking up behind her.

"I rather go to jail and die there than go back to that accursed island." I argued.

"Stop exaggerating, Jaune. We're badass huntsmen in training. We can handle anything." Yang said cockily.

"Yeah." Ruby agreed naively while striking a pose alongside her sister.

"Try saying that when those fucking animals are ripping your whorish ass apart." I told her while rolling my eyes.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" Yang shouted with her eyes red and her hair on fire.

You might be wondering what the hell is going on right now. Well, it's a long story. But essentially, Atlas Kingdom discovered an island that had just 'popped up' on the radar not too long ago. An island that has never been seen before nor explored. To their knowledge. Soon, the other kingdoms discovered it and agreed to send a massive exploration to the island and document everything about it.

But that is where I come in. Despite their knowledge and claim to have records of everything, the island has been explored before. I, along with many others, set forth on an adventure to explore the island. The reason for it was is not significant right now. All you need to know is that the group was fifty thousand strong, yet there were only fifty of us left in the end. And every single person on the voyage was a top expert in their field, whether it was weapons or scientific fields such as botany and cartographers. The island was just that deadly that we did not stand a chance, especially against the giant beastie that lives on the island.

Either way, after discovering the island, all the kingdoms agreed to make the massive voyage to explore and document the island together. Yet, they were continuously delayed as many things kept going wrong, from minor inconveniences, such as reorganizing supplies to significant setbacks such as a ship's engine room being set on fire. But unfortunately, my luck ran out, and I was eventually caught. And since this was involving and technically, at least according to them, treason of the highest kind against the kingdoms, they gave me the death penalty.

But surprisingly, they first wanted a trial. I was confused at first but quickly learned that it was for them to understand the reasons behind what I did. Needless to say, when everyone learned of my reasons, they laughed in my face. Some even laughed so hard that they nearly pissed their pants. But their laughing stopped when surprisingly, Ozpin stepped in to 'defend me.' He told everyone how the Arc family makes their kids undergo a trial of sorts to 'prove their worth' and that an expedition I took with others to the island actually has a strong probability.

Despite this, they still wanted me dead or, at the very least, put me in jail for the rest of my life and then some. But to my surprise again, Ozpin and this time Ironwoods, whom I both despise heavily, stepped in and convinced that kingdoms that I could be of some help to them since I had been to the island before.

Initially, I refused, stating that I would prefer to be hanged by the neck, skewered through the heart, drowned, or given the chair rather than go anywhere near that cursed island again. Upon hearing this, nearly everyone was shocked at my declaration. Yet, only a few took me seriously. And even fewer still cared about what I said. After much persuasion, I relented and agreed to help them explore the island. However, I told them that I would only help them on two conditions.

One was that I could call in all the people that were with me on the first failed voyage to that cursed island. And the second was that everyone would follow what we say without question. It does not need to be said that everyone laughed at my conditions. Sighing, I internally smiled when I realized that I would go to prison and not the island.

But my disappointment continued to grow as only an hour later, the kingdoms agreed to my terms. This also shocked everyone who was present for the trial. Yet, their shock quickly turned into excitement when they realized that they could go ahead with exploring the island as scheduled, but with a guide this time. Yet, none of them like the idea of having to follow someone they still consider a traitor.

After three months of spending time in jail, as agreeing to help them did not absolve me of the 'crimes' I committed, the date had finally arrived. Today we would be sailing off for that cursed island. And most likely all day as a result. This also brings me to my current situation. Sitting chained to a crate on the harbor and having to deal with a pissed-off Yang.

"We all know you slept with pretty much any guy that had a pulse, Yang. It became common news not even a month into the year." I told her.

"HEY! DON'T YOU EVER TALK TO MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER LIKE THAT!" A voice shouted. Turning around, I saw Taiyang walking up to us with clenched fists.

'Right, even the parents of Beacon students are coming along. Some retired huntsmen are also coming. I think I even saw Neo and Roman on the list of people coming along.' I thought, remembering just how many people of different fields are coming along. And that foolishly included people who are basically only good as fodder to get away from an attacker.

"It's true." I countered, bored as I have been sitting here since roughly four in the morning.

"Doesn't matter. Say that again, and I will end you." A new voice spoke up. Turning to it, we saw that it was Yang's birth mother, Raven, stepping up to us.

"Please do. Then I won't have to go to that accursed place. And I can laugh as you all die horrible deaths." I said, unfazed by her threat.

"Why did we even hang out with you in the first place?" Yang asked, seething. I just rolled my eyes at her, but before I could retaliate, we heard a Mistral soldier shout.

"UNIDENTIFIED SHIP COMING!" She shouted, warning all of us.

'That's them.' I thought, turning to the water, and saw a relatively old yet sleek-looking cargo/transport ship come into view. Hearing the sounds of helicopters above, we looked up and saw three transport helicopters fly overhead towards the boat.

"I take it those are your friends." Ironwoods said, walking from behind us.

"Yes, they are." I answered as I waited for him to free me from the chains. Once free, I walked towards the edge and waited for the ship to dock. After about ten minutes, the boat finished docking with roughly fifty people disembarking. And I knew every single one of them.

"Hey, Jaune." A tall, tanned man with multiple scars covering his body greeted me once he was in front of me.

"Hey, Cayden." I said, smiling as I shook his hands. I then looked past him and saw the rest of the crew looking around in anger and irritation. "I take it everyone came."

"Yeah. And none of them are happy." He answered. At this, Ironwoods stepped up.

"I take it your one of Jaune's allies. I am-" He began but was interrupted.

"Don't care. Names mean nothing where we are going." Cayden growled out before turning to Weiss. "Social status means shit as well."

"HEY!" Weiss shouted, angry.

"We're going to make this clear. Do as we say, and only a few will die. Don't, and everyone will die." Cayden said bitterly.

"As if we need-" Weiss began but was cut off when another person behind Cayden lined up a rifle at her head.

"Try it. And I'll blow your brains out." The lady threatened.

"Easy, Ilona. Save your ammo for the island." I told her. She growled but nodded and lowered her weapon.

"Is everyone here ready?" Cayden asked, getting impatient.

"Almost. In about an hour, everything will be set." Ironwood answered.

"Do better. Until then, we'll be on the ship. And remember, we won't hesitate to leave anyone behind." Cayden warned before we all boarded the ship again.

"I wonder what exactly is on this island that caused Jaune-Jaune to be like this?" I heard Nora ask.

'Looking death in the eye on Oum's unfished island.' I mentally answered as I boarded the ship and pulled the ramp up to avoid letting anyone else on board.

One Hour Later

"ALL RIGHT! TIME TO GO!" A Mistral soldier shouted with the order being repeated on every single piece of communication equipment.

"Let's set sail to this new island and see what it has in store for us." Ironwoods declared over the radio. And within a couple of minutes, we left the harbor and began sailing towards the cursed island.

'I just pray that sense will come to these people in time. Otherwise, no one is escaping that island.' I thought as I held the railing at the front of the ship.

"We're going to die. Aren't we?" Ilona asked, walking up next to me. Next to her was Caitali. Our resident tracker with an excellent memory.

"Most likely." I answered.

"And knowing the kingdoms, if by some miracle we do make it back, they will still consider us criminals and send everyone here to prison." Ilona added while glaring at the surrounding ships.

"Do you think we will meet the king again?" Caitali asked.

"Most definitely. Hopefully, we all die, or everyone else gains enough sense to leave before that happens, though." I answered while suppressing a shiver at the thought of meeting the king again.

"Talk about a lose-lose situation." Ilona surmised in a grim tone.

We all nodded in agreement. Essentially, our lives were over. Either by dying or being sent to prison for the rest of our lives. After that, we entered a comfortable silence. Turning around, we cast one final look at Remanent as it finally disappeared. Sighing, we turned back around and stared at the vast sea that would lead us to our inevitable deaths. The silence was only broken when about a half-hour later, Cayden called out to us from behind.

"HEY! IT'S TIME!" He shouted to us. Nodding, we all went over to him as he left the door open for us. Stepping into the bridge, we saw a few others setting up the monitors for the meeting.

'I see you actually answered.' Ironwoods said once the monitor activated.

"Cut the shit, Ironwoods. Let's get this underway." Cayden seethed.

'Right. Okay. So, all of you are going to be our navigators/guides.' Ozpin said, reminding everyone.

"And that means listening to us. As soon we say something, you all do it. And to clarify for everyone, not doing so doesn't mean a slap on the wrist. It means dying by the creatures that inhabit the island." Ilona elaborated/threatened when we heard some people groan in annoyance when they remembered that we were the guides.

'Ignoring that, since you all were the first ones to the island-' Ironwoods began, but I cut him off.

"We never said we were the first ones there, Ironwoods." I told him.

'I distinctly remember-' He tried to lie, but I cut him off again.

"You can lie all you want, Ironwoods. But it doesn't change the fact that we were never the first ones there. Before you, yes. But not the first ones to the island." I corrected.

'Do you know who was the first?' The captain of another ship asked, curious. We all looked at each other for a moment before Caitali answered.

"Not really. All we know is that there were about four previous voyages to the island. And that is not including the possible ships that got lost and unfortunately arrived on the island." She answered.

"And before you ask. No. We don't know any details further than that." I added before they could ask any further questions.

'Very well. But I must ask this. Why did you make us bring all these weapons and ammunition? Enough to invade any kingdom with relative ease.' Winter asked, curious but also slightly concerned.

"Simple. Contrary to popular belief, we are not the biggest, fiercest, or fastest. Not even the deadliest or smartest." Cayden answered.

"Not to mention, they will most likely find you before you even notice them. And the last thing you will see before you die is dozens of razor-sharp teeth being used to tear you apart." I added.

'Can you give us a description of the island?' A scientist from Vale asked.

"The only description we can give of the island, none of you would believe. But we can give you the legend behind that surrounds the island." Caitali told them.

'That will do as well.' Ironwoods said, intrigued.

"It goes like this. The island is a land that Oum never finished, forever frozen in time. An island where monsters exist and roam about, killing everything they see. A land that even when remembered by Oum, doesn't want anything to with it." I told them.

'Sounds like an island ripe with new scientific possibilities and discoveries.' A researcher from Atas said excitedly.

'What should we name this island?' Glynda asked, walking to the front. And from her expression, we could tell she was wary of the potential dangers the island holds.

"It already has a name." Cayden interjected.

'You gave it a name already?' Ozpin asked, surprised.

"Actually, despite it essentially being unknown to everybody, it does have a name." Ilona explained before adding. "And no. We don't know who or where the name came from."

'What is it then?' Ironwoods asked, curious.

"Skull Island." We all answered in a grave tone.

Note:

Essentially, the Rwby verse will be going to and exploring Skull Island.

The version of Skull Island this story will use is the 2005 King Kong movie version.

Jaune will be more of an ass in this story due to him being on the island before.

Next Chapter: They will arrive.
