When Nico di Angelo was seven years old, his mother past away. After that, his father Hades Alexander became a very abusive father to him and his sister Bianca, who four years older than him. and his half sister Hazel Levesque, who was the same ages as him They're father had issues and he would wash them 'away' with alcohol. He would say things to them like 'you're worthless' and 'you're pathetic'.
When Bianca had slit her wrists and died three years later, Hades became even more abusive, hitting Nico and Hazel at least three times a week and when they showed up to school in a black eye, no one question it because all their friends new who Hades was, he was a powerful business man, with lots of money.
Three years later, when he got diagnosed with depression, Hades didn't care. All he did was get the medication. his friends all saw this and wanted to get him away from Hades as much as they could. His cousins Jason and Thalia Grace were always inviting him over to their moms house. and His other cousin Percy Jackson would try to spend as much time with him as he could. But of course, he was still abused. He loved his cousins though. Percy was a year older than him, same as Jason. Thalia was two years older than him, but still like spending time with him.
All of their cousins hated their fathers because they were all pricks. They would swoop in and out of their life's with no meaning at all. All three brothers were very rich, and very shitty. They would try to buy them happiness, only so their children didn't hate them. They all stuck with their mothers last name, because they all hated their fathers.
Nico's POV as a freshman
"Hey Neeks" Percy said happily from across the cafeteria. He was waving me over to the table where we normally sit. They we have a friend group which consists of all the cousins and Hazel, Piper Mclean who was Jason's girlfriend and very pretty, Frank Zhang who was Hazel's boyfriend, but he was in Thalia's grade so it was kind of weird. Leo Valdez, Jason's best friend. Calypso Enderguard (Callie) who was Leo's girlfriend. Annabeth Chase which is Percy's girlfriend and one of my oldest friends. We were all rich, so we were consider the 'high class friend group' to other kids, but to us, we knew each other like our favorite books.
I had just came from the bathroom after popping some Xanax in my mouth. And I felt so high right then, I didn't feel sad or angry at anything anymore. Of course it never lasts, but it was good to last the day.
