Chapter 1

(EmbPOV)

Walking into the rickety garage, I was wondering who was there. Quil and I shared a look when we first reached the edge of Jake's property, both of us seeing the red rusty truck that was parked in his driveway. First, I thought it was a friend of Billy Black's, but that didn't make sense because all the house lights were off.

"Didn't Jake give that truck to Bella," Quil drawled out Bella's name, reminding us both of Jake's obsession with her.

"Last time I checked she was dating that Cullen dude," I wondered out loud, thinking back to the last time Jake brought her up. Which would be 2 days ago when we were all sitting around in his garage working on the rabbit. I still don't understand cars very well, but for some reason Jake and Quil love working on that car, and are excited as ever to have it finished so they can ride around in it. Quil likes to say he will be 'picking up the ladies' but we all know that his desired playboy personality is the furthest thing from reality. He has never picked up a girl. None of us have.

So, as we're walking into the worn-down garage, I was wondering how Jake managed to get a girl to hang out with him. A girl who he has been crushing after for months. A girl who I had thought was dating someone. A girl who looked dead as I saw her perched at the end of the seats of the rabbit, reading a book that looked huge in her dainty, small, pale as snow hands.

Now quiet and in my ear, Quil whispered, "Remember, Jake told us he dumped her and left her in the woods," and as I register those words in my brain, I figure out why she looks so dead looking, why she is here with Jake, and why Quil is whispering.

The girl in question, who I've now confirmed is Bella, looks like a ghost. Her pale white skin, which I presume once looked like snow and was glowing, looks slightly sickly and alabaster. Her brown, chocolatey eyes looked dead, and her hair was worn down and unhealthy looking. She wore a brown t-shirt that hung off her tiny, frail frame. Her frame was on the verge of anorexic. At her 5'4" frame, she couldn't have been more than 105 pounds.

Even still she looked beautiful in my eyes.

Through the haze of awe that I was under from staring at the brunette not 10 feet away from me, I could see Jacob's glare and unhappiness at me and Quil being here. Being here while Bella was here. Beautiful Bella. Broken Bella. Jacob's Bella.

"Hey guys what are you doing here? Didn't you guys have a test to study for?"

"Nah, that's next week. You didn't tell us that you had someone coming over today." Quil responded knowing full well how much Jake wanted us gone.

"Oh, well, in that case, guys this is Bella," Jake motioned his hands over to her, "Bella, that's Embry and Quil."

She looked up, her cheeks a lovely pink color that I couldn't help but love. Bella blushed even harder when after she stood up and offered her hand to Quil, he took it and kissed the back of it. I wanted to knee him in the nuts for "making his moves" on Bella, and it looked like Jacob wanted to do the same thing.

After Quil's move, I offered her a small, tentative, hopefully, friendly smile. She smiled back, but to my disappointment, it never reached her eyes. Her smile was still gorgeous none the less. I could feel my cheeks tinge with a blush, which I prayed wasn't visible under my dark tan skin. I could see the question in Quil's eyes, but nothing from Jake. He turned around and continued working on the motorcycle like shape on the ground in front of him.

Quil rushed over and kneeled next to Jake firing questions at him about the bikes. Surprisingly, Bella spoke up, and said something even more shocking.

"Actually, I brought them to him," She talked, bringing her gaze up once again from her book, to over where Quil and Jake were.

Quil turned around, surprise evident on his face. "Really? That's cool. Where'd you find them?"

"I was driving by someone's house and I saw them, and asked if I could have them. So I loaded them into them truck and brought them over."

This time Jake responded talking directly to Quil. "Yeah, right now the one I am working on is the one I would have, and the other one is gonna be Bella's."

"Yeah, when Jake's done hopefully, he can teach me to ride." While the innuendo was lost on Bella, and she returned to her book, Quil immediately started snickering and murmured something only Jake and I could hear.

"He's not the only one who could teach you how to ride."

Immediately upset, Jake started wrestling with him, and I walked over to Bella and sat next to her on the chair of the rabbit.

With the boys paying no mind to me and Bella's conversation, I brought up something no one really knew about me.

"Is Pride and Prejudice your favorite, or do you think Sense and Sensibility is better?" I asked, not knowing why I asked that. Great going idiot she probably thinks you're a geeky band nerd.

"You read Austen?" She looked up shock and a look of shy happiness registering on her face.

"W-Well you know I just- I read- Ummmm, my mom read it to me when I was younger and it just stuck with me."

She smiled, this time it reaches her eyes. I couldn't have been happier, knowing that I made this beautiful, quiet girl smile.

"Really? Ugh, that's great. I actually prefer Sense and Sensibility, but I just finished rereading that the other day, so Pride and Prejudice it is for now."

"Well I mean I love reading books, but I actually really liked the movie, with Kiera Knightly."

"I actually never saw it surprisingly. I just never got around to it. I always prefer to curl up with a good book than to watch something, even if I have read the book before."

And so it went. Quil and Jake stopped wrestling and went back to trying to put together the two hunks of scrap metal in the corner, and Bella and I continued to discuss our love of Austen novels, though I prayed that Quil and Jake never noticed the topic of our discussion.

(BPOV)

Sitting there next to Embry, discussing our opinions about Jane Austen's writing, I felt much happier than I have in a long time. I know it's kinda crazy, cause I literally just met Embry a couple of hours ago, but I would much rather sit around and talk with the up until recently stranger than sit while Jake chews my ear off talking about motorcycles.

No harm to Jake though, he may be a little annoying about his obsession with motor vehicles, but he's still my best friend. Although, I still feel like Jake thinks something more could happen. It can't, I'm too broken ever since Ed- he left me in the woods to fend for myself. How could he do that? Leave me alone when Victoria was still hunting me down?

Shocked at myself for actually getting angry over the vampire I still love, I sat there in contented silence with Embry. Shocking myself even more with how I kinda liked getting angry at him. Why now though? Was it Embry, someone who I could finally bond with that wasn't an ancient vampire who fought against his nature to be with me?

Not caring why I suddenly felt this way, I craved to feel again, to be in this amazing strangers presence. So as I left Jake's garage heading towards my truck, I realize I need to talk to him to see if I could see him again.

Speed-walking over to him, as he walked away in the direction to what I presume is his house, I tap him on the shoulder. And then I suddenly realize how shy I am, and how weird this must be for him. A complete nobody who he just met practically stalking him.

Great going Bella.

(EmbPOV)

Turning around I see a flustered, but beautiful Bella standing there wringing her hands together. Her mouth open and shut a few times like a fish, but eventually she got what she wanted to say out.

"So, I know we just met, and I'm kinda a creeper cause I practically stalked you over here, and now you're gonna think I'm weird cause you don't know me at all, you know actually never mind, sorry I bothered you."

She was about to turn and walk away, when I surprised even myself and put my tan hand on her frail and dainty shoulder.

"Out with-it crazy girl." I said with a teasing smile, and she visibly relaxed before my eyes.

"So, I really liked talking with you, and I know we just met, but I was wondering if you would like to meet up again sometimes, I don't know, watch Pride and Prejudice or something. Just spend some time together."

I blanched at first, and her entire face rose up into a fierce blush, making her even more pretty than she already was. To say I was surprised was to say the least, but I could never turn down the offer to be in the presence of this beautiful girl. Of course, I accepted, how couldn't I?

"Yeah, I think that would be great. Do you want to meet up tomorrow?" I was still so happy that she wanted to spend time with me, that I never noticed my hand trail down from her shoulder and pick up her beautiful tiny fingers. Her blush grew even more.

"Yeah, but would it be okay if we could go to your house or- Oh god I'm sorry I'm just inviting myself over to your house. We could go to my house at like 12 tomorrow?"

"Hey, my house is fine, that sounds great. After the movie we could head to the beach for a little while." She smiled and nodded her head. I was just thinking that we could go to my house with no one there for the entire day.

"Okay, it's a date." I felt my smile grow even wider with the mention of a date, and I saw her smile falter for just a second. No doubt she was thinking about the Cullen douche her dumped her, if I ever saw his face again someone would have to hold me back because he hurt this amazing girl standing before me. Then her smile grew too, probably not as much as mine, but it still grew. "I mean only if you want it to be a date or someth-"

I put my finger on her soft pink lips, and cut her off. "It's a date. I'm excited. I'll see you at noon tomorrow- my house. Here, let me give you my address and phone number." I took out my cellphone, and she took out hers and we traded our addresses and phone numbers into our contacts.

"Okay, I'm excited too Embry. See you tomorrow!" She stepped away from me, bringing her hand away from mine where we still had them lightly clasped together. I gave her a wave, and turned around heading back to my house with a grin on my face, and a happy lift in my steps.

(BPOV)

That night, tucked in bed, I couldn't help myself from thinking of Embry's handsome face breaking out into a grin when I told him it would be a date between us. I surprised myself with that fact, but was happy when I felt no pain in my chest when I thought of dating again. Even better there wasn't even a twinge of pain when I thought of him. Of Edward. And the fact that I could say his name without the former terrible hole in my chest falling apart, made me grin under my covers. I couldn't surmise how fast things had moved from this morning to tonight, but I was happy they did. I was happy I had met Embry.

I couldn't help myself from send him a text though. I was happy to see he had left me one too.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow! Kiera Knightly awaits!:) XOXO – EC

I text him back with equal excitement hopefully shown in the monotone text.

Me too! Hopefully the movie is as good as the book! XOXO – BS

I smiled finally, falling into a contented dreamless sleep. The first full night's sleep I've had since Edward left.

And I had Embry to thank for that.

Oh god, I am so screwed!

A.N. – So this is the first Twi-fic that I've written, really the first fic that I've ever written. I know it's late on the twilight craze, but I recently found out about all of the twilight fics and I fell in love. My favorite ship is Embry and Bella and I was saddened to see how little fics there were about them. So I decided to write one.

THIS IS NOT AN EDWARD CULLEN HAPPY ZONE. Yes he eventually will come back in this, and we will not be kind to him, so Edward lovers don't read if you want to see him being hated on.

Also there is no beta so reach out to me if you would like to beta this story for me. Thanks and I'll see you guys next week with my next update!
