Shoto hated sleepless nights. So many thoughts ran through his mind, though it was easy to turn them off during the day, here in the silence of his room, there were no distractions. No classes to keep his mind occupied and away from the anger he felt for his father. He reached over to his desk, grabbing his phone. He scrolled through the contacts until he found what he was searching for and began to type.
Are you still awake? He pressed the send button and waited.
Yeah. Is everything okay? The reply came faster than Shoto had expected.
It's fine, I was just thinking maybe I could stop by. Todoroki unplugged the charger from his wall, gathering the wire and again waited.
My door's always open, Shoto. You know that. See you when you get here. Shoto crossed the short distance to the bedroom door, pushing it open and moving quietly through the dark corridor. He could always count on Izuku being up late when there was a test the next morning. He moved quietly through the hallway until finally stopping at Izuku's door. He gently opened the door and moved inside.
Izuku sat in the middle of the bed surrounded by textbooks and papers. Shoto closed the door behind him and walked to the bed. Izuku smiled, greeting him with a hug.
"Hey, Shoto." Izuku greeted, receiving a kiss. "I'll move y stuff so you can sit down, I'm sorry." Deku gathered his papers, placing them inside one of the books and set it aside, clearing a space for his visitor. Shoto lowered himself onto the edge of the bed.
"Am I interrupting. I can come back another time if you-"
"No, it's fine. I-I was just thinking about taking a break. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just wanted to see you, that's all."Izuku sighed.
"Don't believe me?" Todoroki asked.
"Shoto, you know I love it when you visit me, but when it's this late at night, it's usually because something's bothering you. Is it your dad again?"Izuku placed a hand on his. Shoto watched as his boyfriend's free hand found its way to Izuku's belly.
"Izuku, are you okay?" The teen nodded.
"Y-yeah. You wanna talk about what's bothering you?"Deku asked with concern. Shoto reached out, stroking Izuku's cheek.
"That can wait. If you don't feel well, you can tell me. I know we haven't been together long, but I want you to tell me these things so I can help. I know I can come to you if I have a problem, but that works both ways. Remember when I asked you to give me a chance? I promised I'd never treat you the way my father treated my mother, you'd always know you're important to me. I intend to keep that promise."
"I know and you've been great," Izuku replied. "There isn't much you can do. I just try to ignore it."
"Does your stomach hurt or are you nauseous?" Shoto pressed his hand to Izuku's forehead.
"Both, but-"
"Do you want to see Recovery Girl?" Izuku shook his head.
"No. It'll go away, it just takes a few days I-I'll just need to rest and relax after school. I-It's from stress, I get these stomachaches sometimes, Abdominal Migraines. I've gotten them since I was little and the doctor said I'd grow out of them, but that didn't happen. They usually get worse before they get better, but they're not life-threatening. I'm okay, really. M-maybe I'll-"
"Maybe you should just rest tomorrow. If stress is the problem, a break wouldn't hurt."
"That test is a big part of our grade. If I miss it, they could kick me out of the program and I'll never be a hero and I-Ow!"Izuku wrapped his arms around his stomach.
"No one's going to kick you out because you have a stomachache. You can take a makeup test."Shoto pointed out.
"Heroes don't-"
"Yes they do, my father's had days off. You'll be fine, I'll stay too."
"Don't. I don't want you falling behind because of me. Anyway, I still need to try to go. The distraction might be good for me."Shoto shook his head.
"Do you think you can handle it, there's nothing wrong with taking a little time to look after yourself. Sometimes you have to let someone be there for you while you're busy looking after everyone else."
"But Shoto-"
"Lay back down. We'll see how you feel in the morning. Don't push yourself too hard, Izuku."
"We didn't even talk about what was bothering you. I-I'm sorry. I-I'm sorry I can't be a better boyfriend, I made it all about-" Shoto cut Izuku off with a kiss, gently pushing him back onto his pillow.
"You're fine."Todoroki soothed. "You're the one that deserves better. Would it be alright if...I stayed in here tonight, I could use some company." Izuku nodded.
"Me too. I-I was kind of hoping you'd ask."Izuku moved over, making room for Shoto at his side. The teen took the invitation, lying on his side, facing Deku. The dark-haired boy moaned painfully, prompting Shoto to pull him closer.
"Just rest."He instructed gently.
"Y-you don't have to-I-I'll understand if after tonight y-you don't want to-"
"I'm not going anywhere, Izuku. Everyone gets sick. This is what boyfriends are for."
"Yeah, but if it gets to be too much for you, I understand. Y-You've never been around me when I've been sick and when you see how it goes- I-it's not easy dating someone with medical problems and I-I should've told you before we decided to get together. I-Ow!"
"I'm not here for easy. I love you, Izuku Midoriya. I'm not going to abandon you because you're not feeling well. We might not have been going out for very long, but I feel it in my heart, this is right. Rest now, we'll talk more tomorrow. Izuku rested his head against Shoto's chest. His concern for Izuku was growing. He could only hope tomorrow would be better for his love. Shoto continued to hold Izuku while the boy fell asleep in his arms, leaving him to his thoughts, which were no longer centered around his father and home life, but the teen lying next to him. He carefully brushed back a few strands of hair from Izuku's face, with a sigh.
"Get some rest, Izuku. I'll see you in the morning."
