THE BARRIER BETWEEN GREEK AND ROMAN
Chapter 1
JASON
Jason shuffled away from the Big House glumly, feeling defeated.
First that morning, he shot out of bed startled by the horrible demigod dreams he had just experienced.
Secondly, Juno had just appeared out of nowhere in the Zeus cabin and practically explained to him every single reason he was most likely going to die.
Then just a couple minutes ago, Jason finished a council meeting. And the members figured out that Percy Jackson–Annabeth's missing boyfriend–had his memories taken away, just like him. Now Percy had been sent to Jason's old camp by Hera, to the Roman alternative of Camp Half-Blood.
Jason felt bad for the dude. He remembered how it felt when he randomly arose on a school bus, holding hands with a girl who he now knew as Piper. He also remembered his feeling of cluelessness, not even knowing what his very own name was.
It hurt Jason to think about that time again.
But he now knew that it was necessary. Hera had taken Jason–a Roman demigod–and dropped him off at Camp Half–Blood which was a Greek camp. Hera had hoped that taking Jason to Camp Half-Blood would get Roman and Greek demigods to work together and get along for this new upcoming war. Now Hera had done the same to Percy.
If Jason was Roman and Piper was Greek, they were probably doing better than simply getting along.
Then he thought about the upcoming war against the giants. Great. The war, another thing to comprehend. Jason thought to himself. He didn't feel ready for the war at all, especially after all the things Juno had said to him.
Attempting to change his depressing line of thoughts, he tried to focus on his memories. He knew his old memories were coming back, he knew for sure. Throughout the past few days, he had been able to recall more and more of his past. He remembered some of his old friends' faces. Some names too. Dakota, Hazel, Bobby, Reyna-
Then with all that thinking about his lost memories. An image shot itself into Jason's mind. Oh gods. His camp.
For the first time, an image of his old Roman camp found its way back into Jason's mind.
It looked noticeably different compared to Camp Half-Blood. There were huge, menacing barracks which covered a decent amount of space. Right next to the barracks were the baths, Roman baths. But the spotlight was an enormous field which took up most of the image. Inside the field were many demigods engulfed in Roman armor.
Suddenly, Jason felt a familiar feeling. He missed the place. He started to hope that Percy Jackson would take good care of his old home.
All of this was going through Jason's mind as he was heading back to his cabin to rest.
Unfortunately, Jason was so lost in his thoughts that he forgot to look ahead of himself. He walked straight into the shimmering bronze doors of the Zeus cabin, slamming his face into them.
He almost fell straight onto the small area of concrete floor before the cabin doors, but he managed to get himself together.
"Ouch." Jason whimpered softly.
He stood straight up, as tall as he could look and quickly scanned the area outside his cabin. He got a few confused faces around the place but no sight of his friends.
Jason let out a small sigh of relief. Piper didn't just see how clumsy he was. He questioned how much worse it would be if Leo was the one who just saw him slam his face into his own cabin doors. He'd make fun of him for days.
He gladly walked into his lonely cabin. It was really odd being the only living person in his cabin. He again thought about Leo and Piper, having their brothers and sisters to talk to. To keep them company.
He jumped onto his bed, spreading his arms and legs out. He was exhausted by something as simple as thinking too much. Chiron had told everyone to get a good thirty minutes of rest, which made no sense at the time. Now Jason understood what he meant. The whole council meeting really knocked him out, the stress of what he heard that he had to accomplish. And stress was highly skilled at making people feel drained out. Especially for Jason.
As he laid on the bed, more thoughts looped inside his mind. He just had a memory of his Roman camp. Jason tried to think of it as a good thing, but instead the thought stressed him out even more.
Jason wondered how Leo and his siblings at the Hephaestus cabin were supposed to be able to build a giant warship in under a year. Less than a year was not enough time, or at least in Jason's head. He knew Leo pretty well, Leo would be determined to finish that thing. Whatever it would take.
This reflection made Jason feel a bit better. But thirty minutes passed before he knew it.
Jason was awoken between his fragile line of consciousness by a familiar sound, the horn of a conch shell signifying lunch.
He dragged himself out of his bed, patted down his pants and headed out of the Zeus cabin. While on his way to the Dining Pavilion, he tried his best to put a smile on his face.
