Chapter 1
An Offer
Far away in an unknown corner of Remnant, there was a dark and desolate land. Black pools of sludge spawning creatures of Grimm and purple crystals dominated the landscape.
The most noticeable landmark was a massive spire of crystals, clumped together and vaguely forming a castle-like structure. Atop the highest spire was a conference room of sorts, the room featured a massive crystal table surrounded by six wooden chairs, while at the head of the table was a crystal throne.
Of the six chairs, only three were occupied, first, to the left of the crystal throne was a pale man with gold eyes and a brown ponytail braided to resemble a scorpion's tail. He wore a white sleeveless jacket with leather belts strapped to it, along with white pants. His jacket was left open, exposing his bare chest, which was crisscrossed with prominent scars. His arms were covered with purple bandages and leather vambraces. He also wore leather boots covering his entire shin with knee guards. Tyrian Callows was perching in his chair, squatting upright like an animal waiting to pounce.
Across from Tyrian was Hazel Rainart, a tall and muscular middle-aged man. He was unusually large and broad, at a towering eight feet tall. He had short brown hair, a beard, and hazel eyes. His hairy arms had some large scars running up them, a result of using Dust infusions. He was wearing a two-tone olive green coat over a black 3/4 sleeve shirt, and a large belt. His pants were black, with a pouch strapped to each pants leg, and his boots were brown with white fronts. Some of his scars near the edges of his sleeves are visible.
Down two spaces from Hazel was Arthur Watts. The ex-Atlesian scientist was a tall middle-aged man with a slim build and slightly tanned skin. He had short black and gray hair as well as a thick mustache and eyebrows, and green eyes. Arthur wore a grey overcoat with yellow linings, a yellow dress shirt, and a black necktie. His pants were the same color as his overcoat. His yellow-buttoned undercoat and fingerless gloves matched his cordovan shoes, under which he wore yellow socks.
Watts was staring in awe at the footage from the attack on Beacon, the two yellow beasts had only been captured on footage for a few seconds, and even then the camera was destroyed in the lightning storm they caused. He mentally thanked himself for autosaving Mercury Black's transmission.
"I still can't believe they killed the Wyvern, how are we supposed to deal with that?" Watts questioned.
Hazel didn't say anything, but clearly, he shared Watts' feelings.
Tyrian chuckled and said "Our goddess is without equal, she'll deal with them"
On cue the door slammed open, causing everyone to stand as their leader entered the room. She had deathly white skin, with jet black sclerae in her eyes, and glowing crimson irises. Her bleached, pale white hair was styled in a large bun with six offshoots wrapped together that also suspended several obsidian-colored ornaments. Most frighteningly, she had dark purple veins that lined her face and arms and had a black diamond-shaped marking in the center of her forehead. Salem was wearing a white, two-piece dress consisting of a sleeveless, diagonally overlapping white backless pleated top with a raised, pale blue halter-top square collar adorned with an aquamarine-colored rhombus-shaped crystal on the clavicle, surrounded by two smaller white rhombuses. Her long, high-waisted skirt was white with a faint purple tint - adorned with white diamond emblems and white wavy lines near the bottom hem, ruffled around the waist, and completed with a purple sash.
As the mistress of the grim went to her throne and sat down, her three subordinates could feel the rage and malice emanating from her, they all remained silent, not wanting to provoke her infamously viscous temper.
Salem sat down as another creature resembling a floating crystal ball with tentacles floated into the room and sat itself in the center of the table. The Seer Grimm gave its signature clicking sound and projected images of the two yellow beasts.
"What are they, Arthur?" Salem questioned impatiently.
Watts shook his head and admitted "I don't know madam, they are unlike any creature I've seen"
Salem's eyes narrowed as she asked "can you develop a countermeasure for them?"
Watts scratched the back of the head and said "yes, but I would need to examine one up close….and those two are far from my only concern"
"This one is far beyond any creature I've seen in thousands of years, and it defeated Cinder rather easily…." Salem admitted through clenched teeth as an image of what looked like a dragon mixed with a jet plane appeared. She was not used to being so outplayed, and that angered her beyond anything else.
"Regardless, we must...press on, Dr. Watts. With Leo arrested they will be searching for his replacement, head to Mistral and see to it that the new headmaster is a huntsman that can be swayed to our side" Salem said as she began to dole out orders
"Very good," Watts replied.
Salem turned to Tyrian and said "your hunt for the Spring Maiden can wait, free Emerald and Mercury, if they have broken and revealed any secrets besides my existence kill them, if they have remained loyal, bring them back here. Then turn your attention to the current Fall Maiden"
"Hehe...Gladly" Tyrian answered while rubbing his hands together enthusiastically.
"And Hazel, I'm sending you to the leader of the white fang, Adam Taurus has arranged the meeting. The boy continues to remain loyal, assure that Sienna Kahn feels the same
Hazel nodded and simply said "As you wish"
"Beacon may stand, but we will prevail. Now leave me…" Salem ordered, causing everyone to run out of the room in a hurry.
Salem scowled out the window, enraged at the failure at Beacon, regardless of Cinder's arrogance, it ultimately was due to the fact that some outside, uncontrollable factor intervened, regardless, time was on her side, as it always had been.
Just then a portal opened at the end of the table, causing Salem to stand up as a shadowy entity exited the portal.
"Salem, Mistress of the Grimm, I am Darkrai, and I have an offer for you" the entity, now identified as Darkrai greeted.
"I take it you are from the same place as those other creatures?" Salem guessed. Normally she would have killed this intruder immediately...but her new opponents were clearly powerful, and a new approach was needed.
Darkrai chuckled and said "indeed I am...but they have been a thorn in my side for much longer, we share a common enemy"
"True….where are you from, and what is your offer?" Salem inquired.
Darkrai waved his hand causing smokey images of multiple planets to appear as he explained "there are countless worlds and realities, the creatures you've see are called Pokemon, and in some worlds, there are humans and pokemon living together, or some worlds with only one or the other. I will provide the means to enhance your creatures of Grimm in exchange for large amounts of the unique energy source in this world...dust I believe you call it?"
Salem's eyes narrowed as she questioned "how can you enhance my Grimm?"
"I have access to Pokemon DNA that can be added to your Grimm pools, and I will also provide one of my subordinates to act as a consultant for Pokemon-related threats" Darkrai explained.
"...Very well, I accept your offer, you subordinate will be provided all the dust you could need" Salem assured him.
Darkrai gave a slight bow as he replied "Thank you, Lupin, if you would"
On cue, a figure in a black robe with red outlines exited the portal holding a glass vial of black liquid. He handed the vial to Salem and said "My appearance is a bit of an eyesore, so I will remain concealed"
Salem's eyes widened as she felt the energy in Lupin's body, his energy was a mix of the same power Darkrai possessed and a different version of the aura huntsman and huntresses used. In fact, Darkrai's energy was very similar to what the Grimm were made out of, pure darkness and negativity.
"This will be a lucrative partnership for both of us, you are quite intimidating under that robe...I am interested to see what you are capable of in combat" Salem said with curiosity in her voice, as she could see what he looked like due to the similar dark energies.
Darkrai smirked behind the red, teeth-like growth around his neck and said "he will not disappoint you, and as a warning, do not think of betraying us, you may be the most powerful entity in your world, but I have met beings even your gods of light and darkness would cower in fear of"
Salem's eyes narrowed, but she nodded and replied "As long as this world will bow to me, I have no interest in others. Humanity will crumble at my feet, and you will have the resources you want.."
Author's note- thus begins the sequel to RWBY Distortion.
1. Doing my best to portray Salem properly, if this was canon Salem she would try to attack Darkrai and subjugate him, and get her ass kicked...so a deal like this makes sense.
