Chapter 9: Ash vs Argenta (Part 2)
"So Ash, do you want to continue?" Ash looked at her and smiled. "More than ready to go Argenta." He pulls out a pokeball as it appears Pikachu won't be battling. Sabrina looked at Ash and knew something was different and she thought to herself. "What could he bring out to match wits with Argenta's Alakazam?" Everyone was on pins and needles trying to figure out his second Pokémon. Ash smiled as he looked at Kukui. "Like father, like son, right?" (Kukui thought it would be Incineroar. But remembered that his Alolan Pokémon are in Alola. So which of Kukui's Pokémon will Ash bring out.) I choose you, Lucario!" Lucario came out and Annie and Kukui gasped as they couldn't believe that choice. Burnet smirked as she couldn't resist. "Well Ash was right. Like father, like son." Anabel went over and asked Burnet about that statement. "Like father, like son? What are you talking about?" Burnet smiled and answered. "Well in terms of Pokémon, both Ash and Kukui have an Incineroar. Guess we can add a Lucario to the list."
Anabel smiled, but gasped as she saw Ash glowing a light blue. She thought she was delirious; and would rubbed her eyes. But after rubbing she still sees Ash glowing. "Aunt Olympia, what's going on? Why is Ash glowing a bright blue?" Olympia smiled as she would explain. "Looks like you have your mother's eyes after all. (Anabel looked confused as Olympia chuckle) You're able to see a person's aura." Anabel gasped as she knew something was off about her Ashy. And this was the proof she needed. "Olympia, is that why my mom asked me earlier about sensing him?" Olympia chuckled and nods. "People with aura types are not necessary psychic. More of a spiritual type; primarily for fighters. But in Ash's case he is one of them. (She smirked, as she glanced over at a curious Burnet and Kukui.) Along with his dad and late grandfather." Kukui overheard and nods as it would make sense about it. "Then you probably knew about my battle with my late father?" Olympia nods and replies "That undeniable fighting spirit; to tap into the Spirit of Alola. To face undeniable odds without fear is something astounding. No doubt your Pokémon sense that spirit; and are inspired to go out there and give it their all!" Anabel did had one question for her aunt. "Olympia, can an aura type give psychic commands via aura?" Olympia glanced over at Ash before answering. "I say no, but unsure. A trainer that is an aura type that can give psychic commands are rare. (She chuckled) But knowing Ash, he might go into your sensory playbook." Anabel pouted playfully as she knew this would tick off her mother.
Argenta looked on and her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. She couldn't believe her own eyes as she was thinking to herself. "So that's why my daughter fancies him. The young Montague with aura as vibrant as the stars. To think, I might let her have this young man. (She grinned as she was thinking about their future.) I could be a grandma with a granddaughter or grandson with both sensory and aura traits!" Lucian looked on as he had a bad feeling; seeing her mother smile like that. He pulled out his pokeball and tosses it. "Mr. Mime, I choose you." Delia noticed another Mr. Mime and waved "Hello Mimey" Lucian's Mr. Mime waved back as he was not there to just watch. Lucian gave only one command to his long time friend. "Mr. Mime, use safeguard to cover the crowd." Lucian's Mr. Mime nods, as a light green screen covered the crowd. Though safeguard reduces some damage from an attack; this was more about what Ash and Argenta would unleash. Sabrina saw what her love did and decided to help out. She pulls out her pokeball and tosses it. "Alakazam, I choose you." Her Alakazam came out and her Alakazam had a red ribbon on her head, indicating that she was a girl. That and to ensure no confusion in case Argenta brought out her Alakazam. "Alakazam, use protect on the house please." Sabrina's Alakazam teleported to the house and would create a clear yellowish barrier; to surround the house.
Ash noticed the barriers and knew something wasn't up. But before he could speak, Argenta would chime in. "Relax young Montague. They are doing this for us. Hold nothing back against me, no matter what. I want to see what you got for this final battle." Ash got the message and smiled. At least now he can focus on the battle; without worrying about hurting someone, or the house. Both trainers look on as it felt like at the O.K. Corral. A duel between the best shooters as only one can walk out the survivor. Everyone in the gallery was just as nervous, anticipating the first attack. Argenta smiled as she gave a thought to her Alakazam. "Ok my friend, get ready he might." Before she could finish her thought; Ash went on the offensive. "Lucario, Extreme Speed" Argenta gasped as Lucario, with breakneck speed, would cause the first attack. Ash didn't waste time with his next attack. "Lucario, Aura Sphere" Lucario would create a large blue ball of aura energy and launches it towards Alakazam. Argenta saw this as an opportunity to make a counter attack. But was in shock to see that aura sphere move in quickly; and strike her friend for a super effective strike. Everyone was surprised by that aura sphere's speed. But Kukui stood up and cheered for his son. "Way to go son!" Burnet, like everyone wanted to know how Lucario could pull off a fast aura sphere. "Hun, I know that aura sphere takes a bit to form up and it's launch speed isn't as fast. (This is from watching her love's Lucario in training.) How did our son pull off that move?" Kukui smiled and answered "He use the drift winds. (Burnet looks confused and let's him explain.) [Like in an auto racing, game. One gets behind the other car, before using the acceleration from the front driver to move up front. In this case, he used the drift winds from extreme speed to increase the attack speed of aura sphere; preventing Alakazam from dodging." Burnet smirked and chuckled. "So a combination attack, something Argenta would normally pull out?" Kukui nodded as he was excited.
Tobias saw that combination and couldn't help but smile; as he was thinking to himself. "Only you Ash can pull out something like that. Well Argenta, how can you topple an unpredictable trainer?" Argenta knew Ash would be a hard trainer to crack. But to see him this relaxed is unsettling for her. She turned to her Alakazam to see if he's ok "Alakazam are you alright?" Alakazam nods as that aura sphere did a lot of damage. Argenta knew now is the time to strike. "Alakazam use psybeam" With its eyes, Alakazam launched a multi colored beam of energy towards Lucario. Ash had to counter now or else. "Lucario dodge and use force palm." His Lucario dodged easily and leaped in the air; as his right hand started to glow. Argenta saw this moment and had to strike now. "Alakazam use hypnosis!" Just as Alakazam was about to make that move, Ash screamed at Lucario. "Lucario, close your eyes quick!" Lucario landed on his two feet as his eyes were closed. Many wonder if he was asleep from hypnosis. But Ash knew something Argenta didn't know. Lucario can fight without seeing. "Lucario, force palm one more time." Argenta saw Lucario move in towards Alakazam and she was baffled as those in the stands. That brief hesitation allowed Lucario to strike Alakazam; and the impact sent him flying. "Alakazam!"
Greta saw this and couldn't help herself with a cheer. "Way to go Ash! That's showing her the true fighting spirit!" Lucy couldn't believe that Lucario can strike without seeing. Glanced over at Anabel as she pondered something. "Say Anabel, not for nothing; but have you seen something like this?" Anabel smiled as she knew the answer. "That's the trust of a trainer knowing a Pokémon's true abilities. Knowing my Ashy, he knows that Lucario can sense people and Pokémon with its aura. So to avoid hypnosis, it would fight now sight unseen." Lucy nods, knowing that was Ash all the way. Argenta saw Alakazam get up from that last attack as she clenched her fists. "I'm sorry my friend. That won't happen again." Her blood was boiling as she was getting schooled in battling. Normally she would go all in; but slaps herself to get her head straight. She thought to herself as she gave a thought to Alakazam. "If Ash wants to be unpredictable, so can we." Her Alakazam nods as the gallery saw Argenta smile once again. Ash saw that smile and knew she was up to something. "Lucario, stay sharp and keep those eyes closed." Lucario nods knowing it can sense Alakazam with his aura. Argenta nods as she went with the plan. "Alakazam use double team" Alakazam would create multiple doubles to try and confuse Lucario. But that was useless, considering Lucario can sense the real Alakazam. Ash looked confused but would go in for a potential win. "Lucario use quick attack" Lucario moved in towards the real Alakazam as everyone was wondering has Argenta given up. Argenta smirked as she knew her plan was working with perfection. "Stand your ground Alakazam and don't let it escape." Alakazam nods as it would stand firm from that quick attack. But Argenta quickly made her next move before Ash can respond. "Alakazam use tickle!" That completely baffles everyone; but Alakazam would tickle Lucario, making the steely fighter laugh. Ash saw this and wanted his friend to escape. "Lucario, squirm on out." Lucario was trying but in the mist of that tickle attack; Lucario eyes were open and Argenta seized on that moment. "Alakazam hypnosis!" Alakazam would use its attack and this time Lucario wouldn't escape the attack. Now Lucario was asleep and a sitting duck.
Everyone gasped as this could be the encore of how Gengar lost the battle. Anabel thought to herself seeing that play out. "Clever mother. Fooling us with that double team attack. Ash's guard was down for that brief moment and now...Ash! Wake up Lucario now!" Ash didn't want the same thing to happen to Lucario; like what happened to his Gengar. So he would tell, trying to wake him up. "Lucario! You have to wake up!" Argenta, hearing Ash's pleas was music to her ears. "My dear Montague, you fought well. But this is where your 'dreams' end here. Alakazam, use dream eater!" Alakazam's body turned red, as a long claw appeared and struck the sleeping Lucario; causing it pain. At the same time, Alakazam's body turned green as it gained health. Delia looked on, concerned for Ash's Lucario. "What's going on? Why is Lucario in pain?" Scott would chime in. "In short, Alakazam is stealing dream energy from the opponent. One to cause Lucario pain; and to regain health from that energy. (Scott sighed knowing this was near the end.) And given how Alakazam took a lot of damage earlier; I doubt Argenta will let Lucario escape." Delia sighed, praying for Lucario to wake up. Ash looked on and knew Lucario can't take anymore of that attack. And once again begged for Lucario to wake up. "Lucario, you got to wake up!" Argenta looked on and with a devilish grin on her face; she was enjoying this torture. "Ash, I warned you. And now your friend will suffer for it. Alakazam, dream eater back to back!" The crowd watched as Alakazam struck Lucario with consecutive attacks. As Alakazam was regaining its health; Lucario was losing his and there was no telling if Lucario still wants to battle, because its still asleep.
Just as Palmer was going to check; Argenta called on one more attack. "As the curtain falls, so does the dream of my opponent. Alakazam, strike without mercy, use dream eater one more time!" As that devilish red claw was moving towards Lucario; everyone turned their heads, not wanting to see the outcome. Ash screamed one more time, but this time his body glowed brighter as if calling out for the heavens or in this case Lucario's aura. "LUCARIO!" Lucario felt that scream and woke up just in time before that claw struck him. The crowd breathed a sigh of relief as Lucario was back up on its feet. Anabel was about to chew out her lover for making her watch mom's torture. But gasped as she saw his body glowing. And it seemed it got more intense. "Ash..." She watched as Lucario's body glowed. Apparently their auras were linked now. Ash looked at Lucario as he asked him via his aura. "Are you alright?" Lucario nods as he felt a tickle; but noticed Ash's aura, a bit of it giving him strength. Ash once again asked him via aura. "Ready to show her out true power?" Lucario grinned as he knew what was about to happen.
Argenta saw that exchange and couldn't help herself be impressed. "Aura exchange huh. The ability to transfer aura in order to heal your Pokémon. Ash I'll give you this, you're making me work for this. And for that I give my thanks." That was a rarity, most knew Argenta never gave kudos or credit to her opponents. Only a few ever heard such nice words. Anabel heard that from her mom and just couldn't shake that ominous feeling. "Why is that mother? Even after nearly giving us nightmares, you praise him? Why?" Just as she pondered, she glance at Ash pulling something from his pocket. Her eyes went wide as before she could say it; her brother did. "A keystone!" Both realize this battle was going to be amped up. Tobias saw what Ash had on and laughed. Burnet overheard the laughter and had to ask. "What's so funny there?" Tobias smiled as he would answer Burnet. "It's just like Ash. So unpredictable; yet exciting at the same time. For once Argenta is going to have to earn this win." Burnet nodded but gasped as she remembered the battle between her love and her father. She remembered how intense their battle was; and now realized why Kukui was worried.
Olympia didn't need to see into the future; as she knew what her sis was planning. Her pokeballs appeared in midair as she called on her friends. "Meowstics cone out and use safeguard on the house and crowd." Olympia had two cat like Pokémon. But they were her ace Pokémon in the Anistar gym. The dark blue Meowstic, a male Pokémon, with the white accents; flew to the house to assist Sabrina's Alakazam. The white Meowstic, a female Pokémon, with dark blue accents; was above the crowd to assist Lucian's Mr. Mime. She thought to herself as she was now scared. "I pray the Pokémon can handle what's ahead."
Meanwhile, Casin and Gardevoir would be mere moments from entering the arena; but Gardevoir sensed something wrong and would push Casin back. He was surprised by this move; as he knew Gardevoir wouldn't do this without reason. "Gardevoir what's wrong? Why are we heading back?" Gardevoir replied "Gar...Gar Gar!" Casin knew they were heading back to the holiday tree. He thought a Pokémon was nearby the tree. But starting to realize he too had a bad feeling. He thought to himself as he was returning. "This isn't right. It feels like the calm before the storm." He didn't know why at the time; but now thanked her.
Ash looked at Argenta and gave a smirk. "You said not to hold back, right? (She nodded as she couldn't believe the moxie out of him.) Lucario, Mega Evolve!" He pressed on the keystone as the bonds would link. A fascinating transformation would happen; and soon Mega Lucario appeared. It roared, as the backlash of energy was intense. Luckily for the crowd and the house; it felt like a gentle breeze. But for Argenta and Palmer, the energy was intense. So intense Argenta's hennin flew away.
Kukui saw Ash's now Mega Lucario, and had to admit he was not only impress; but jealous at how much power this Lucario has. Anabel looked over at Kukui and was curious. "That's a Mega Lucario!?" She was impressed, but was at are by its power, An familiar aura. Kukui nodded and would show her with his pokedex. Mega Lucario, the aura Pokémon. A fighting and steel type. Its aura has expanded due to Mega Evolution. Governed only by its combative instincts, it strikes enemies without mercy. It's cream fur becomes longer, and its thighs slim down. It develops more spikes on the back of its paws, which have turned crimson. It also develops spikes on both of its feet, which have become crimson too. Its previously red eyes are now orange-colored. (Pokewiki)
Anabel gasped as she would see the auras of Ash and Mega Lucario as bright as a star. "Careful to the two of you." She would just be worried about the potential outcome. Argenta smiled as she saw Ash's Mega Lucario and felt his power. She looked up at the sky before answering her own call. "As the final act is about to start. I ask of the heavens to lend me your strength. I ask of you to protect everyone during this conflict. (Ash was puzzled by her speech. But Argenta would show him something.) As they would say young suitor; like mother, like daughter." Ash gasped as he saw an Galarian heart shaped necklace. But in the center is a keystone and can only mean one thing; this battle will reach mega heights. Argenta smiled and looked at Alakazam. "My friend, let's show him our strength, heart, and our will; Mega Evolve!"
She pressed on the keystone, and the bonds of evolution would transform her Alakazam into a ball of light. As Ash and the others gasp at the light; the light scatters as an elderly looking sage appeared with five spoons floating above him. It's eyes open, as it's energy released from the evolution. Like with Mega Lucario, the backlash was tempered due to safeguard. Delia saw the Alakazam and was wondering why it looked so frail. "Scott, is that Alakazam's mega evolution? Doesn't look strong." Scott would reply to that comment and pulls out his pokedex. "Looks can be deceiving. Trust me. It's mustache turns white and becomes longer and bushier. It also grows a long, white beard. The armor-like sections become bulkier, and its upper body section becomes slightly shorter to reveal its thin stomach. The ear-like spikes become slightly shorter and a larger spike forms on top of its head. Additionally, it gains an oval, red organ in the center of its forehead. The organ is said to emit psychic power. Its lower legs become longer and slimmer and its feet become skinnier and resemble talons. It gains three additional spoons, for a total of five that it levitates in the air." He would let the pokedex finish the explanation.
Mega Alakazam, the Psi-Pokémon. A psychic type. Having traded away its muscles, Alakazam's true power has been unleashed. Mega Alakazam's power is entirely converted to pure psychic energy. It can read the course of a person's entire life with a single glance. Delia gasped as her body starts to tremble. "Why am I tingling all over?" Anabel would reply "There's aura and psychic in the air Ms. Ketchum. The hairs on your body will stand as it's intensity is deep." Delia nodded, as Anabel would see her mother, covered in a purple light. That was psychic energy from years of training and battling. Tobias looked on and even he can't tell what will happen. And thought to himself. "So this is the showdown you wanted Argenta. Be careful what you wish for. Because I think you might be in for the battle of your life."
