Chapter 10: Ash vs Argenta (Part 3)
The arena was tense in the air. Everyone is anticipating the conclusion to this year's holiday party. Now it's Mega Lucario verses Mega Alakazam; Aura verses psychic, in one of the most intense battles ever. Argenta looked on and gave a thought to Alakazam. "Whatever move they are planning, disable it. We cannot get caught off guard again." Alakazam nods as it waits for Lucario to make the move. Ash looked at Alakazam and knew it was a lot stronger. Ash thought to himself as he would recall the last encounter with another Mega Alakazam. "From what I remember it can detect any move without question. If that's the case, then we have to be unconventional and go by luck." Lucario heard that thought and chuckle. Seems Lucario is connecting an aura channel to allow Ash to communicate with him. In short Lucario is using Anabel's playbook of giving commands without speak.
Ash blinked as he looked at Lucario and thought to himself again. "Lucario are you reading my thoughts?" Lucario nodded as he gave a mental picture to Ash, about a potential strategy. "Whoa. (Feeling the slight strain of mental communication; between him and Lucario.) I guess this is how Anabel feels when she battles like this." Anabel looked on as she was on pins and needles waiting on one of them to make a move. "Why isn't anyone moving? This isn't like either of them to stall." Olympia would chime in. "That's because (She chuckle at what she was going to say.) both are strategizing with their Pokémon mentality." Anabel was in complete shock hearing that. Not so much for the mom. But the fact that Ash is now able to copy her abilities. "Aunt Olympia, you knew about Ash, didn't you?" Olympia smiled. "No, but I did say earlier given Ash; he might pull out something. But I think because he's with Lucario. And they are connected via aura. So I guess Lucario is teaching him the ropes." Anabel could only smile as she was more impressed by her Ashy. She thought to herself, as she resumed to watching the battle. "You better hope I don't read minds. (She smirked) Because I have a few things I want to know, without anyone eavesdropping."
Back at the arena, Argenta looked on and saw Lucario closed his eyes again. She gave a thought to Alakazam. "Get ready, they are about to strike. Disable the first move they make." Alakazam nods as it seemed the battle would finally resume. Ash gave a thought to Lucario as he hoped he was right about this. "Lucario use quick attack." Just as Lucario was moving, Alakazam's eyes glowed bright red; and disabling the move. Ash smirked as it seemed he was right on that prediction. He gave a command quickly to Lucario. "Lucario use extreme speed" Lucario moved in breakneck speed once again and again would connect the attack onto Alakazam; sending him flying. Argenta gasped as she couldn't believe that he countered her strategy. Before she could regroup, Ash was already coming up with another move. "Lucario, aura sphere." Seems Ash was going to see if his last combination attack would work once again. However, Argenta was not going to let history repeat itself. "Alakazam use shadow ball!" Alakazam quickly launched a shadow ball and cancelled the aura sphere attack. However the backlash from those attacks was felt as a strong gust. Despite the barriers of multiple safeguards; the intensity was like a punch to the face.
Burnet held onto her baby Lei, as she was just wondering about that strong wind. "What happened, I thought the Pokémon's safeguard would quell the attacks. Her hubby Kukui would chime in. "True under normal circumstances. But we're dealing with a mega evolution battle. More so, it's a battle of aura and psychic energy. If I'm right, it's their essence that is laced in every one of their Pokémon's attacks. (Then a thought raced through his mind about that statement.) Then we have to brace for a potential backlash of epic proportions." Burnet nodded as she would pray for the best. But in the back of her mind, fears the worst. Back at the arena, Ash took a deep breath, as he asked Lucario mentally. "Are you alright Lucario?" Lucario nods as it's eyes were still closed. Argenta looked at her Alakazam, and knew she couldn't prolong the battle any longer. "Alakazam use charge beam" Alakazam would create a beam of electricity that moves in quickly towards Lucario. Ash would counter her move. "Lucario, use dragon pulse." Lucario body glows a light purple, as energy that looks like a dragon would move in and again; cancelling the attack, creating a strong backlash. Both trainers shield their eyes for a moment, before both went for it all. "USE HYPER BEAM!" Both hyper beam attacks would collide; and create a backlash that would rock the arena. Everyone in the crowd would huddle up, trying their best to hold on.
Tobias felt that backlash and couldn't believe this power unleashed. "Damn! To think this from two trainers." He called on Latios to use protect on the crowd. His Latios would get in front and creates a barrier to protect them. Anabel saw the backlash, and it was like a tornado. The fact that the Pokémon are hanging on is a miracle. But she was worried for her mom and lover. "Please hang on you two."
Over by the holiday tree, Professor Casin and Gardevoir returned to see that no Pokémon was near by. As they were settled, they felt a whirlwind from the backlash in the arena. Casin felt that and knew who did this. "Damn her! (He pulls out a pokeball and tosses it.) Snorlax come out and protect the tree!" His heavy hitter Pokémon came out to provide some relief for him and Gardevoir. Gardevoir used safeguard to minimize the damage; but it was still intense. Just as Casin finally got his footing, he sees a Ralts peaking out; and is now hanging on the tree barely. Casin pulls out a pokeball and tosses it; just as Ralts slips off and is in the air. "Venusaur, use vine whip to grab Ralts!" His other heavy hitter Pokémon comes out and uses vine whip to grab Ralts. "Thanks Venusaur!" His Pokémon nods as he turns to a struggling Gardevoir. "Well my friend, you sure your up for what the world has to offer?" She nodded almost begging for him to use the keystone. Casin lift his hand up and looked at Gardevoir. "With our hearts and minds as one; we can do anything. (He presses on the keystone as he shouted.) Gardevoir, Mega Evolve!"
His Gardevoir turns almost completely white; only its hair remains green. Its gown becomes longer and wider, resembling a bridal gown. The forearms are slightly thicker with a pointed extension above the elbow resembling sleeves. Its facial spikes are larger and now curl upwards. In contrast, its hair is now shorter and more tightly curled. There are now two horns in the center of its chest, extending to either side. (Pokewiki) Casin was at awe for a moment, but had to focus on the task at hand. "Gardevoir, use protect" Gardevoir would create a large spherical shield that would protect the area; including themselves and the tree. As he saw how powerful she had become; the other Ralts and Kirlia would watch with the same appreciation for her.
As the backlash finally subdued, Gardevoir changed back to her original self. She saw Casin breathe heavily as she was naturally worried. But just as she would approach him; the Ralts and Kirlia would come out and pile on both in jubilation and gratitude. They were thankful that they protected their home from disaster. Casin laughed as they did tickle him at times. "Careful now." He kept laughing, before he was picked up by Gardevoir. As he was back on his feet, he saw a floating pokeball and knew this is her request. "Gardevoir, were going to have fun together." He smiled and gently pressed the ball onto her; before she would enter the pokeball. It took a matter of seconds, before the pokeball clicked and soon he picked up the pokeball and tosses it. "My friend Gardevoir, come on out!" His Gardevoir appeared as she would come over to hug her friend. It was a bit tight of a hug; but he would hug back as he saw a smile on her face. "Alright, now we can head on out to the party." Gardevoir nods as she would let him lead the way.
Back at the arena, as the chaos settled; everyone, including Palmer, Ash and Argenta in one piece. Apparently their Pokémon had protected them from the collision of hyper beams. But it seemed that now Lucario and Alakazam are no longer in their mega evolution forms; due to spending so much of their energy protecting their trainers. "Lucario, are you alright?" Ash asked his friend, who was breathing heavily. But his Lucario nods with a smile on his face. "Alakazam, are you alright?" Argenta asked her friend mentally and was relieved to see her friend smile. But like Lucario, breathing heavily. But Argenta gasped as she looked around, as if she was missing something. Or was missing someone from the maelstrom. "They are okay Argenta." Ash told her as she couldn't believe he understood her situation. Naturally she was suspicious of that response. "Did you read my mind young Montague?" Ash smiled, but shook his head no, as he would reply. "During that craziness, Lucario sensed another Pokémon that mega evolved. Whoever it was, had the situation under control." She breathe a sigh of relief, as whatever she was worried about is safe. Now that matter is settled, her mind was focused on the conclusion of the match.
Both trainers knew their Pokémon had about one or two moves left in them. Greta looked at Ash and Argenta and smiled. "This is the final battle of will and attrition. A true warrior's will is being put to the test." She smiled as she rarely had this feeling. But watching them is a thrill to say the least. Scott overheard and nods, but thought to himself. "Now which one will come out on top. Have to admit, I don't want this to end. But surely it will be one match to remember." Ash and Argenta looked on, and as if they had the same wavelength; went with this move. "Use close combat!" Both Lucario and Alakazam would bob and weave each punch; trying to land a punch. Despite being tired, neither would give an inch. It was an awe-inspiring display of the Pokémon's will being put to the test. Kukui looked on as he remembered how it was like on Poni Island with his late father-in-law. He thought to himself watching the two Pokémon go at it. "This is nuts. Those two are still going despite at low health. Ash, I have to admit this, I have to get stronger to get to your level."
Just as the two close combat moves ended; Argenta went for broke. "Alakazam, Use focus punch" Ash countered with a move of his own. "Lucario use force palm" As both of their attacks were going to clash once again; Alakazam lost power on his focus punch. It looked like it was all over before Argenta made one mental plea. "Alakazam! You know what to do." Her Alakazam glowed a light purple for a brief moment; as it stood there, a sitting duck. Lucario moved in and with one powerful shot, lands the super effective move that took down Alakazam. Everyone was in shock as Palmer would check on Alakazam. "Alakazam is unable to battle, there for the winner of the..." Just as Palmer was going to declare Ash the winner; Lucario suddenly faints as he was out as well. "Lucario! (Ash checked up on his friend and it seemed he knew what happened.) She got us with Destiny bond this time. But thank you my friend. Thank you for everything." Palmer looked over at Lucario and renders his decision. "Both Alakazam and Lucario are unable to battle. There for this holiday battle ends in a draw!" The crowd was stunned as they were ready to cheer for an upset victory. But Anabel would applaud, as it was for both her mother and lover. Soon everyone clapped and cheered for them; as it turned out to be one of the best holiday battles ever.
Just as the claps slowed down, a mysterious Pokémon appeared from the mist. The vaguely humanoid female Pokémon with long hair colored in a gradient of pale pink, baby-blue, lavender, and white. The hair above its head is in a conical shape, resembling a witch's hat. Hatterene has a three-fingered tentacle that extends from the tip of its hat. Its purple body is adorned with a pink semi-translucent dress. (Pokewiki) Anabel was scared for a moment. But heard a familiar voice. "Hatterene, use life dew!" Mysterious water would appear all over the arena; before the droplets would touch Ash, Argenta, Alakazam, and Lucario. The Pokémon would soon get up as Ash and Argenta felt a lot better. Ash looked and saw this mysterious Pokémon; and was looking at the trainer next to her. "Thank you for healing our Pokémon. But who are you?" Anabel and Lucian would answer in kind "FATHER!" Ash blinked as he couldn't believe that he is Anabel and Lucian's father. More so, apparently more Pokémon would be aligning with him.
Casin smiled as his Snorlax, Venusaur, and Gardevoir would be there with Hatterene. He stepped forward with a pokeball as he tosses it in the air. "Milotic, take the stage!" His fifth Pokémon, the elegant sea serpent would appear in its beauty and grace; with its tail consisting of magenta and blue scales. Olympia smirked as she knew he was showing off. But gasped at the ultra ball he has in his hand. "Alright Casin, let's see your final Pokémon." Casin grinned as he puts it in his pocket. He would tell her, and everyone else observing. "You'll find out." Anabel pouted and replied. "When father?" He smiled at his precious daughter; before giving his answer. "When I face your boyfriend at the six on six exhibition match." Everyone was in shock as apparently there would be one more trainer to enter the Alolan league. And from the looks of it, he might be the favorite.
