Chapter 1
ONE MONTH LATER
Angie and Poppy sat in at a table in a bar.
"Angie," Poppy said. "It's been a month since you decided not to go with Derek. Why haven't you called Will?"
"I messed everything up," Angie admitted. "I can't admit to him how I feel now."
Angie's phone chimed. She then looked at it.
"It's a text from Graham," Angie said. "He and Derek are having fun in Barstow. They went to a museum today."
"I think it's nice that you're letting Gram split his time between you and Derek," Poppy said. "It's a nice way for him to get to know his father. Now back to Will."
"Poppy," Angie said. "Just drop it. Will and I can never be together."
"But I'm rooting for you," Poppy said. "Miggy and I came up with a cute couple name for you; Angill."
"Angill?" Angie asked. "Really?"
"It's better than Wangie," Poppy said.
"I need to move on," Angie said.
Angie looked over at the bar to see a young man with short dirty blonde hair, and a freshly shaved face.
"Look at him," Angie said. "I want him, bad."
"Um, Angie," Poppy said. "He looks about 25. You're 31."
"Who cares?" Angie asked. "It's 6 years."
Angie got up and headed for the bar.
"Don't do this, Angie," Poppy said. "You're making a mistake."
Angie walked over to the bar and sat down beside the young man.
"Sup," Angie said in a flirty tone. "I'm Angie."
The young man looked at Angie and smiled.
"I'm Terrence," the man replied in an equally flirty tone.
"I saw you from across the bar," Angie said. "I just had to meet you."
"Oh really?" Terrance asked. "Because I noticed you too. I already ordered you a drink. I was going to have it sent over to you, but now you can just have it with me."
"Why don't we just skip the drink?" Angie asked suggestively. "I only want you."
"Bartender," Terrance said, laying down a 100-dollar bill. "Cancel the drinks. Keep the change."
Terrance and Angie got up and walked toward the exit. Angie smiled at Poppy and gave her a thumbs up.
"Seriously, Angie?" Poppy mouthed.
The next morning, Angie woke up in Terrance's bed. She got dressed and came downstairs to see Terrance cooking breakfast in the kitchen.
"Good morning," Terrance said. "How did you sleep?"
"Really well," Angie replied. "Especially after that magical night."
"It was magical," Terrance said. "Wasn't it?"
"It really was," Angie replied.
Angie noticed a photo of a forest on the kitchen wall.
"What a beautiful photo," Angie said.
"Thanks," Terrance said. "I took it myself in the Redwood Forest."
"You're a photographer?" Angie asked.
"Sure am," Terrance replied. "My photographs have won awards."
"Where did you go to college?" Angie asked.
"CalArts," Terrance replied.
"Do you mind if I walk around the house and look at your photos?" Angie asked.
"Not at all," Terrance replied.
Angie walked around looking at the amazing pictures. At the end of the hall, she came upon a plaque next to a picture of the Amazon.
"This prize is awarded to Terrance Cooper," Angie read aloud. "Wait, Cooper. That's also Will's last name. That has to be a coincidence."
Angie then turned around to see a picture of Will and Sophie.
"No!" Angie shouted.
Terrance walked over to Angie.
"You okay?" Terrance asked.
"Who are those people in the picture?" Angie asked nervously.
"Oh," Terrance said. "That's my older brother Will and my niece Sophie."
Angie screamed and ran out the door.
"What in the world?" Terrance asked himself aloud.
About 15 minutes later, Angie pounded on Poppy's door. Poppy opened the door and Angie ran into the house.
"Angie?" Poppy asked. "What's wrong?"
"I slept with Will's brother!" Angie shouted.
Poppy and Angie both stood there and screamed. Poppy then slapped Angie across the face.
"Ow!" Angie shouted. "What the hell, Poppy?!"
"Stop sleeping with people's relatives!" Poppy shouted.
Poppy and Angie resumed screaming.
