Avengers: Stargaze Online!
Hello everyone, it's SuperDescendant101 here, here with another story in the form of the Avengers. I'll probably going to focusing on both the movies and tv shows, I don't read the comics so I won't be using them for research.
Anyways, this is gonna be a little bit different than what I usually write. My OC, Brian Oliver, already lives in the Marvel Universe, but this story starts during a virus outbreak. I'm not going the zombie route, but it will be similar to that one episode from the tv show "Avengers Assemble."
With that out of the way, let's do this!
I do not own anything Marvel related, I only own my OC.
Rising Hero! Part 1
3rd POV
Explosions, blaster shots, cars being thrown were probably the least expecting thing you would see in a normal city, unfortunately, this isn't a normal city, and by no means is it 'just normal.' This city is the home of the Avengers, the mightiest heroes on the planet, maybe the whole universe, but that might be stretching it a bit.
3 days before the chaos happened, the Avengers just got word from SHIELD, specifically Nick Fury, the director of SHIELD, that HYDRA were working on a new weapon that could potentially destroy the world in matter of hours. The team of superheroes got their gear and set off towards the coordinates that Nick Fury sent them when he got whiff of HYDRA's superweapon. Unfortunately, as soon as they got to the location, HYDRA were already gone and left behind nothing to ensure their own escape will be flawless.
Every waking moment of the Avengers were spent on figuring out what sort of weapon did HYDRA create, 2 days straight of searching, compiling data, and also saving the day from everyday villains or disasters wore out the superheroes to the point of exhaustion.
They were ultimately blindsided by the sudden ambush of HYDRA as they launched their weapon into the city of Manhattan, and without warning, people started going berserk and attacking other people near them. What was strange about the infected people is that they were starting to be covered in metal, like it was a virus.
While the infection started out slow, it gradually became too much for the Avengers as they were too winded from their constant work a day prior to this infection. All is lost, can anyone save the world from total annihilation?
POV Brian
SHIELD and other nation wide army forces were currently getting people off the streets and into vans so that they can be evacuated to another part of the world. I chose to stay behind because if there's one thing that I can describe myself, it would selfless and determined. The last remaining hospital had just enough room for 4 people, including the medical staff member, the rest of the vans that occupied uninfected people left in a hurry.
The staff member saw me standing in the middle of the street like I was waiting for something. He shouted, "Hey kid! We need to get out of here!"
I heard him shout, but I replied back with, "Wait! There is still two people left, look!" I pointed towards the two people that were running from the chaos that was happening behind them. I believe it was a mother and her daughter from the way they were holding hands.
Deciding to be a hero for one day, I ran towards the family of two, gently ushering them away from the destruction behind us. Unfortunately we didn't get much farther as a stray blast sent us flying causing myself and the woman to wince in pain as we crashed into paved road. However, I didn't hear the little girl cry out in pain because her directory was not towards us, but the towards the mindless robots.
One of the robots saw her crash near them and started walking towards her, likely trying to infect her with the virus. The girl tried to crawl backwards, but pain she received from falling made it difficult for her to move.
The mother saw her daughter being stalked by the robot and shouted, "Samantha!"
I saw how much distress both of them were in, and I was having none of it. I am not letting a single person die today, not now, not ever! I ignored the pain I was feeling in my body and stood up, running towards the little girl who was named Samantha, I heard a loud incoherent shout from the doctor, "Kid!" I completely ignored him and kept running with no stopping, I'm gonna save this little one, count on it!
I managed to reach to Samantha and grabbed her before the robot did anything bad to her, and with enough strength and leverage, I spin kicked the robot in the face and ran with Samantha in my arms. The kick did stun the robot for a few seconds, but it spotted me running towards the two people that were trying to encourage me to keep going. However, the robot had other ideas, it raised it's metallic human hand and charged it up, then firing a energy blast at me.
I saw the blast out of the corner my eye, and there was no way for both of us were going to dodge or survive it, so I did the only thing necessary. I silently whispered, "I'm sorry," into Samantha's ear, in which she gave me a confused look as I threw her towards the doctor.
He caught her in his arms as looked up at me and saw blast right on top of me, he yelled, "KID, LOOK OUT!"
I kept on running as I turned to see the energy blast was inches from my face, I knew I was going to die, but if I died sacrificing myself for a little girl, then it's all worth it in the end. I closed my eyes, waiting for the end of my days, and just like that, the blast of energy struck me with enough force to essentially kill me on impact. I landed right next to the horrified people that were just about to leave.
I gave Samantha a pained smile as she was crying, "Don't...cry little one...your safe now."
The girl came up to me cried out, "Mister, please don't d-die!" she grabbed my hand with her own.
I reached up slowly with my other hand swiped the tear crawling down her face, "I...did my...good deed...for today. You were...very brave...young one."
Samantha kept on crying, "I don't want you to leave, you saved me and my mommy!"
My smile grew bigger, "I'm...glad I did...don't forget to stay...brave, for your...mother, alright?"
She smiled, "I will!"
My vision started fading into darkness, my time was up, "I'm glad...to...have...met..."
And with one last breath, my right hand that was held by Samantha slowly went limp, and with a thump on the concrete road, I died saving someone's life. Samantha continued crying as her mother slowly gave her a gentle hug, to ease her grief over the loss of her savior, with the doctor bowing his head in silence.
POV Brian
I slowly opened my eyes to find myself staring up at a blank white sky, the pain that I endured from those energy blasts were still there, just not as glaring. I sat up to look at my surroundings, and while I knew the afterlife would be different for everybody, depending on your morality, all I saw was a complete void of nothing, except for glaring whiteness.
"Where am I?" I asked to no in particular.
A deep, but gentle voice spoke from behind me, "I would say the afterlife, but that would be lying."
I turned around to a see a man standing behind me, and I would say a man getting on in years, defined by the silvery white beard and hair. The man easily stood at my height of 6ft 4 and was wearing what essentially a golden Greek robe, what was weird that he looked just like Zeus from the movie 'Hercules.' Bulging muscles and a powerful aura, but he had a gentle smile on his face as if he wouldn't hurt even a fly.
The man in front sense my nervousness and said, "There's no need to be afraid young one."
I stood up from my seated position and calmed down, I asked, "Who are you?"
The wise man slightly chuckled, "My name is Vernex, I was once a king of rare species of humans who had ability to transform into different species of dinosaurs who can wield magic and technology."
My eyes widened, "Your a king?!" I was ready to bow down, but something he said caught my attention, which cause my expression to sadden, "Wait, was?"
Vernex sighed, "I'm sure you understand what that means, don't you?" I nodded my head, as he continued, "My race has fallen to the catastrophic destruction of civil war, every single Vernexian was slaughtered and murdered all because we couldn't decide on what would be the fate of the warrior named Stigma, he has made countless mistakes, but he also managed to redeem himself of those mistakes. One debate led to another, and the entire kingdom split sides and waged war, ultimately decimating the population from 1,000 to 2."
I realized who the two he was referring to, "It was you and your queen left, wasn't it?"
I saw a tiny tear come out of his eyes, as he replied, "At the time, my queen, Shabi, had fallen ill right before the war happened. As the carnage kept raging, the love of my life, suddenly passed away right when the war ended, that is when I took my own life so I can be by my love's side for eternity."
I was sad to hear that Vernex's race had gone extinct all because they couldn't decide what to do with a warrior who committed crimes, then had redeemed himself of those crimes. I said, "I'm sorry for what happen to your race."
Vernex smiled, "Thank you my friend."
I asked a crucial question that needed to be answered, "Why are your here? Why am I here?"
The king of the Vernexians grinned at me, "I believe this will give you a clue." He seemed to grab something behind him and pulled out a device, holding it out in his hand, gesturing it towards me, he continued, "Take it, it's yours now."
I grabbed the device from his hands and looked at it closely, it was a large gauntlet that looked like it would go over my wrist and reach just below my elbow. (Just picture it as the Ultimatrix from Ben 10 Alien Force/Ultimate Alien) The gauntlet was cobalt blue in color with the occasional stripe decals that were painted orange, then there was a circular faceplate that could be considered the activator.
I looked back at Vernex and asked, "What is it?"
He merely grinned, "Just tap the faceplate and say 'Activate Armor,' you will know what to do next."
He waved his hand in front of me and all I saw was a bright light before everything turned black.
POV Brian
I heard the whimpering of a little girl beside me, wait what?
"I am alive?!" I yelled in my thoughts. I still felt the pain from those blasts and wince a little bit from the soreness in my body.
That little flinch was enough to get a reaction out from Samantha, who looked at me and spoke with uncertainty, "M-...Mister?"
I opened my eyes to find Samantha still crying in the arms of her mother who just now realized that I was alive. I gave another smile showing that I was alive and well, "Hey Samantha."
The biggest smile you would ever see on a human being with falling tears, she cried out, "MISTER!" She jumped towards me to tackle me into a grizzly bear hug.
I ignored the pain that spiked in my body and gave her a pat on the back, "Hey, still feeling the effects from those blasts you know."
She let go of me and gave a pout, "I'm sorry."
I smiled at her and gave her a pat on the head, "No worries, kid."
She gave me space so I can sit up from my layed down position, as soon I did, the world around me started spinning, "Oh, don't sit up right after dying, it'll make you dizzy." I shook my head to get rid of the dizziness.
The doctor had a shocked look on his face, "I-I don't understand, you died. How are you alive?"
I gave the doctor a calculated look, "Let's just say, that a friend saved me from going to the afterlife." I stood up to find my balance almost nonexistent as I stumbled a little bit, thankfully the doctor managed to catch me before I fell, "Thanks." The doctor nodded his head as helped me get my balance.
The mother beside us came into the conversation, "My name is Andrea Carson, this is my daughter Samantha Carson," the little girl smiled at her name, "And I can't thank you enough for saving my daughter." She then hugged me with a smile on her face.
I graciously accepted the hug from Andrea, "Hey, I bet anyone would of done the same thing, if they were in my position."
We both let go of each other, as she replied, "Still, I want to thank you for doing that," she then gave me a quick kiss on my cheek, which caused me to blush. Both Samantha and the doctor giggled at the sight of me blushing.
Stuttering, I said, "W-Well, y-your welcome."
The doctor got back into serious mode, "Not this is any good time to celebrate, by the way, the names Carter, Zach Carter, but we got to get out of here, now."
I replied, "Wait, my friend also gave me something that will help me." I reached into my pocket to find a bright white light encased in my hand, which eventually transformed into the gauntlet that Vernex gave me.
The 8-year old girl smiled in excitement, "What is that?!"
"I don't know, my friend, who was named Vernex, said to tap the faceplate and say 'Activate Armor', and then he left off with you'll know what to do next." I answered.
Zach gave me a questionable look, "Well, if you think it will help us, try it out."
I nodded my head, "Alright, here we go," I slipped the gauntlet onto my right hand as I heard a whining sound coming from inside the device, like it was getting ready to be activated. The moment of truth, I pressed two fingers onto the faceplate as it lit up with a blue light as I shouted, "ACTIVATE ARMOR!"
The gauntlet lit up even brighter as it disappeared from reality, then several pieces of blue and silver colored armor materialize out of thin air that attached to my arms first. My arms were completely covered by the metallic armor where it looked like there was a panel that could open to reveal something, my hands were next as they were covered by armor similarly to my arms, but it seems that I could spawn metal claws out of my fingers. Then came my legs, and the same thing happened to them, but it felt like I could freely my legs even with the armor on.
My chest was second to last as I noticed that what would be the power core for this armor zapped towards my upper chest area materialize the armor to form the chest plate. Similar panels like on my arms were found on the chest plate, but instead one for each side, there were four panels. Then came my head, a helmet that looked like if a T-Rex was in mid roar with a glass panel in between the two jaws appeared above me, I grabbed it with my two armored hands and placed on my head, which in turn lit up in blue light again.
As soon I put on the helmet, several decades of information flowed into my head, giving me the needed power to pilot this insane armor into battle. I shouted, "POWER OF THE ANCIENT VERNEXIANS! STARGAZE, ONLINE!" I let out a massive roar that could be heard for miles and then stood in a battle stance.
The friends that I have made looked back at me as they had to cover their ears from me roaring, and what they saw shocked them even more. I was completely encased inside silver blue colored armor that was shaped like a metal humanoid lizard, the information that was injected into me flowed through me like a running river, it was like the armor knew I needed the intellectual prowess of a Vernexian.
I turned to look at my new friends and spoke in a deep gravely, but otherwise gentle voice, "So, what do you think?"
The silence that followed was all I needed to hear, I chuckled silently, "Yeah, I would be surprised too, if I saw someone do this in front of them."
Samantha, being the brave little girl she was, got out of her shock and walked slowly towards me and gave me curious look up at me. I seemed to be taller now, considering she was 2'11 in height which is only about 4 inches smaller than me when I was not wearing the armor, I now seem to be just above the 6'8 height range. I simply looked down on her and gave her a gentle pat on her pat with my armored hand, which she smiled upon my gentle touch, "Hi, Mister!" she squealed.
The other two that were watching seemed to get out of their shock as well and walked over to me. Zach gave me a once over, just to see if something was wrong with me, "This is remarkable, I don't recognize the metal that was used to make this armor. Nor do I recognize the type of energy core that is situated in the chest plate. How do you feel...um?"
I mentally slapped myself, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My real name is Brian Oliver, but when I am wearing the armor, it's Stargaze. And I feel fine, the armor gave me a bunch of information to help me learn how to pilot this thing."
Zach tapped his chin, "I see. Now, do you know what he to do?"
I nodded my head, not needing to talk to give an answer.
Zach gave me a nod as well, "Alright, we'll make sure that this stays secret. Heroes honor?" He held out a fist.
I replied, "Heroes honor." I held out my fist and we bumped and sequenced into a secret handshake, ending it of with a clasp of our hands like were brothers.
I looked back at the two family members and said, "I want you two to go with him and contact SHIELD, just in case I need help, stay brave, got it?"
Samantha gave me a toothy smile, while the mother said, "Be careful, Stargaze."
I gave her a nod and with information given to me by the armor, I leaped towards the robot army with a roar. The mother and daughter both gave a smile to the new hero in town. Zach called them over to get into the truck. They both got in into back and buckled up for their ride towards a evacuation point, with a smile on her face, Samantha shouted in her thoughts, "Stay Brave, Stargaze."
And with that, the end of the first chapter of this glorious fanfiction. I had to completely rewrite it because a storm raged on last night and knocked out the power for a few seconds, but that's all it took to make me restart this chapter.
There is something important I have to tell you guys, I GOT A JOB! Yes, I'm finally getting a job, so for the foreseeable future, I won't be uploading as much as I want to, thankfully I'm waiting 2 weeks before I finally start doing training for my job. Thank you all for reading for this story!
And just like Stargaze said, Stay Brave!
