October 1983. Transylvania, Vermont, United States. Carpathian Mountains. Night.

Abraham Van Helsing was driving his 1980 Ford Torres through the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania, Vermont in the dead of night. Abraham was a guy in his mid 20s who worked as a radio announcer in Montpelier, Vermont. He wanted to take a vacation from his boring work schedule. He had heard news reports of a so called "vampire" that was a fifteen year old kid and his family attacking people. Van Helsing didn't believe in such childish nonsense like vampires, werewolves, monsters and ghouls. Those were for little kids. Abraham was a 23 year old man. 23 year old men didn't believe in mythical creatures. Why should they?

Vampires were nothing more than mythical creatures that only superstitious people believed in. Vampires were creatures that were said to feast on the blood of living things. That unnerved Abraham. Just the thought of a being drinking the blood from another living thing. It was nightmare inducing, not to mention disgusting. Abraham continued to drive in the dark. Abraham Van Helsing was a handsome man with blood red hair and hazel eyes. He was currently wearing a black Star Trek T-shirt. He was listening to some Elton John music via his Sony Walkman. He was thinking about a place to stay for the night. He didn't have enough money to pay for a hotel room, as hotel rooms back in the 1980s were insanely expensive.

Abraham was getting tired of driving his car through the darkness of night. It was cold, dark and spooky. There was nothing out there except the open road and his car. Nothing else was out here in the mountains. It was 11:07 P.M. He needed someplace to sleep and rest. Then, in the morning, he would go out and explore the town of Transylvania. Abraham had decided to go to Transylvania because he'd heard from the local people that it was a nice exotic town. Abraham grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He came from a working class family. His great grandparents were have said to lived in Transylvania somewhere at the turn of the 20th Century. Abraham didn't know if it was true or not. Abraham had never been to Transylvania before.

Up ahead, Abraham could see lights on in a large, castle looking structure. He couldn't see the building that clearly because of the darkness outside. He pulled into the next exit on the freeway and went toward the castle. He drove further into the grounds of the castle. The moon was shining bright on the castle. The castle looked like it was built in the Medieval times. Abraham seriously had doubts that anybody lived here. It looked abandoned. It looked as if somebody hadn't live there in several centuries.

Abraham stopped his car in front of the castle doors. He got out of the car and walked up to the front door of the castle. He was nervous. What if nobody was living in the castle? There had to be somebody living in the castle. He turned on his flashlight and shone it on the front door of the castle. Abraham knocked on the door loudly. He turned off his flashlight. He waited for somebody to answer the door. Abraham could hear footsteps leading up to the door.

The door opened up and there stood a teenage boy. The teenage boy looked to be around the age of fifteen. The boy had pale white skin that looked ghastly. The boy had glowing red eyes. The boy was dressed from head to toe in all black clothing. The boy looked like he hadn't been out in the sun in several years.

"Who are you?" the boy asked Abraham. "Why have you come to my house for?"

"My name is Abraham Van Helsing." Abraham said. "All I want is a place to stay for the night."

The boy said nothing for a while. Then he said, "Come in, Mr. Van Helsing."

Abraham walked through the door as the boy shut it behind him. Abraham followed the strange boy through the castle. The walls were made of cobblestone. They went into the living room, where there was a male and female vampires watching 21 Jump Street on TV. There was an older male vampire who had the same pale white skin as the boy, along with his wife. There was a 12 year old girl, and a 18 year old boy vampire. The whole family all wore black clothing. This was a bit startling for Abraham. The family of vampires turned their heads from the TV to the fifteen year old boy and the strange man that was standing next to him.

"Vlad, who the hell is this person that you've brought in this house?" the older male vampire said to his son.

"This man just showed up at our house. He wanted a place to stay." Vlad Dracula said. "He said his name is Abraham Van Helsing."

"Well, Mr. Van Helsing." the older male said. "Welcome to Castle Dracula!"

Abraham looked around the living room. The castle didn't really look that much like a castle. It looked more like a regular house than a real castle. Of course, Abraham hadn't been in a castle before, so who was he to judge whether Castle Dracula was really a castle or not.

"My name is Count Vladimir Dracula." Dracula said. "This is my father, Ivan, my mother Mina, my sister Lucy, and my brother Johnathan."

Dracula introduced his family to Abraham Van Helsing. Abraham shook everybody's hands. He was welcomed with hospitality. Abraham sat down in a nearby chair and watched the family. After a while of watching TV, Ivan said to Abraham, "So, what exactly are you?"

"I'm what you call a human being." Abraham said. "A normal, red blooded American human being."

"A human?" Vlad Dracula said. "My family has never heard of a human before."

"Really? You haven't?" Abraham asked the family. He couldn't believe that this strange family didn't know what a human being was.

"No." Ivan said. "We have never heard of human beings before."

"We're what you call vampires." Mina said to Abraham.

"Vampires?" Abraham asked. "What're vampires?"

"Vampires are what we are." Dracula said. "Supernatural creatures that feed on blood to survive. Without blood, we will grow weak and we will die."

Abraham shuddered at what the fifteen year old vampire said. He didn't like the idea of vampires being supernatural creatures that feasted on blood to survive. That was sickening. Yet, Abraham felt morbidly curious about vampires. He wanted to know if there was more to vampires than just sucking on the blood of living things.

"What else do vampires do, besides sucking on blood?" Abraham asked the Dracula family.

"Not much else, really." Dracula said. "However, there are a few things that you should know about us vampires. We have a heavy aversion to sunlight. Sunlight can disintegrate a vampire in a matter of seconds." Dracula said. "We also hate garlic, wooden stakes and silver."

"Ok." Abraham said. "That's cool, I guess."

"Would you like anything to eat or drink?" Jonathan Dracula asked the human man.

"I would have some Pepsi for me to drink. As for food, I ate at a restaurant a couple of hours ago." the human said to John.

John went over to the refrigerator to grab a bottle of Pepsi for the guest that was temporarily staying at their castle. He took the bottle of Pepsi out of the fridge and poured the soda into a glass cup. The vampire brought the drink over to Abraham, who accepted it graciously. Johnathan sat back down of the couch with his family to watch some more TV. While they were doing that, Ivan, along with a human servant, brought all of Abraham's belongings into the castle. Abraham looked at the clock on the wall. It was 1:10 A.M. Abraham needed some sleep.

"I'm gonna go to bed, guys." Abraham said to the Dracula family. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."

Vlad Dracula showed Abraham to his bedroom. The bedroom had a bookshelf that was filled to the brim with tons of books and VHS tapes of various movies and TV shows. The bed was a twin size bed. Abraham changed into his night clothes before getting into bed and drifted off to sleep. He would soon realize that coming to Castle Dracula would be the biggest mistake of his life. He would soon realize what vampires really were.
