Summary:

Somewhere in the deep forest, Nanahoshi Nanaho was waiting for her liberator.

I have always been waiting. Within the deep forest, I have slept on and on. The Nanaho who awoke was a princess of the ladybugs.

"Na nanananana nananana."

("You have your instructions, Nanamaru.")

For the princess, the sun was white. The seven-spotted ladybugs, an alluring bloom of rainbows and fancy pastels. But for Nanaho…Nanaho was wrapped in thorns, out of the light. Squashed by the forest vines in the darkness. Without the liberator she needed. Who she waited for. Her friend. She couldn't blink past her tears. The fog she couldn't pierce. Yuga, how come you never came? I waited. I waited for you forever.

"Nananananananananananana."

("Infiltrate Goha HQ, and return with the data we need.")

Yuga was Nanaho's friend. How could you leave Nanaho? Leave her to be eaten by the ladybug on her head? She stayed there. Crying…hoping…dreaming you'd come. She trusted you went to get help, but you never did. Yuga…How dare you never come for me!

"Nananananananananana nananananana."

("If an opportunity presents itself, be certain to upset the peace of the Nanahoshi family as well. Huhuhuhuhuhu...")

The curse became a sweet needle. The cute ladybugs, her dark clan. She stopped being scared. The ladybug on Nanaho's head devoured her, starting with her delicious human head. Devouring down, until finally, the sleep was obliterated. She could finally see with vastly opened eyes. The grass. The trees. The toadstools. The sun. And she started to hear the buzz. The orders the seven-star ladybug gave, they were inseparable from her own words. Yuga. Do you know what lesson you taught Nanaho, na? Never looking back, nana.

"Nanana."
