A/N: Hello everyone, I'm back! Just in time for the Holiday season I have a new story for everyone. In my latest work we take a trip to a world that some of you might be very familiar with, SKYRIM! Now I know there are literally endless possibilities that I could have chosen, I mean who wouldn't want to write Hiccup being the DragonBorn? Well apparently me because Hiccup is not going to be the savior of Skyrim, instead he and the gang are going to make up Riften's seedy underworld run by the none other than the Thieves Guild. That's right this adventure will follow the Thieves Guild questline, so expect characters to be a bit OOC as they are…Thieves in this story. There will be references to magic and enchantments throughout the story, not to mention other bits of lore that would be found in the Elder Scrolls. It won't be the focus point of the story and it will be one of those things where if you know about it, you know about it; otherwise don't worry you will still be thoroughly entertained. I will also be using the Elder Scrolls calendar, I will leave a guide down below that will have the days and months outlined to what they would be in our world, so it will be easy to follow. If you have questions don't be afraid to ask and I will answer, either in the review response or through a PM. Without further ado I give you This Work Suits You!
Disclaimer: I do not own HTTYD or anything Skyrim or Elder Scrolls related; so back off Todd Howard.

"Damn that was close." Hiccup huffed as he thought over recent events.
He had barely gotten out of Morrowind with his life. Evading guards all the way through the mountains until he was safe on the other side. A simple miscalculation in the guard patrol routes had sent his plan to straight to Oblivion. He was forced to ditch most of his haul and couldn't go back to his hide out to grab any supplies. He was lucky that his armor was lined with fur to fight off the biting cold.
Giving himself a quick pat down he was happy to see that he still had his trusty dagger. A gift from his mother long ago. Shinning like a piece of the night sky, the Ebony dagger was beautiful and deadly. His gold pouch was still secure on his waist and judging by its weight it would be enough to get him a room at a nearby inn until he could find out where to go next. He still had plenty of lockpicks which would come in handy, a few healing potions, and gems. Not much but it was better than nothing.
"Have to make do for a while. Now by the Nine, where am I?" Hiccup asked himself as he came out of the forest and onto a cobble stone road.
He looked to his left and right but couldn't see a road sign or caravan. He sighed out in frustration the day just getting better and better for him. With a shrug he figured that the road would take him to a town eventually, he just hoped that he chose the path that would lead to a town sooner rather than later. As he was about to set out the sound of hooves among the cobble stones stopped him in his tracks.
He ducked back into the brush, unsure if the guards from Morrowind were still following him. As the sound got closer a horse drawn carriage crested the hill, carrying a merchant and his wife. He let out a sigh of relief and slowly revealed himself from the brush, making sure to keep his hands visible and show that he was not a threat. The man and his wife were still weary reaching under the seat to grab a weapon just in case. With his leather and fur armor Hiccup looked exactly like a thief, it didn't matter that he was, but he didn't need them to give them a reason to act on their thoughts.
"Hello there travelers!" Hiccup called out in a joyous tone.
"What can we do for you stranger?" The man asked, his tone carful and guarded.
"I'm afraid I got a bit turned around and have lost my bearings. Could you help me out and point me to the nearest town?" Hiccup asked, hoping they would help him.
"Not many folks get turned around our here. You must be new in Skyrim." The man responded.
Hiccup cursed in his head, the man was fishing for information and it was clear that he was not a simple-minded merchant. He would have to step his game up. Putting on a charming smile he prepared his next move.
"Alright, you got me. I am new to Skyrim; I came over the mountains trying to get a fresh start. I'm lost and could use some assistance please." Hiccup hammed it up, making seem like he was a poor traveler in desperate need of help.
The man eyed him up and down while his wife leaned in close and whispered in his ear. As they were conversing Hiccup quickly eyed the carriage and could it was laden down with goods, chests, and a few leather backpacks. If he could snag one of those packs it would make carrying his haul easier. He quickly averted his eyes back to the couple and kept his smile up.
"What's your name stranger." The man demanded.
Hiccup furrowed his brow; it was clear the man was trying to interrogate him, and he was not in the mood for this. He slowly lowered his arms so that his hand would be closer to his dagger in case he needed to use it.
"Amos would you stop acting like an ass and tell the young man where he is at. His business is his own and none of ours." The wife final spoke up, chastising her husband.
Hiccup smirked as the man flinched and curled away from his wife. Still wouldn't safe them from becoming a backpack lighter though.
"Oh alright, alright. You are in The Rift stranger. If you keep heading due south you will run into the hold Capital of Riften, about half a day's journey from here. Keep an eye on your gold pouch while you are there though, they say the Thieves Guild has made their home there." The man grumbled.
Hiccup perked up at the mention of the Thieves Guild. He thought they had been disbanded long ago. The possibility to finally have a home with people just like him though was far too tempting to pass up. All he had to do was find them.
"Thank you, may the gods be with you." Hiccup said with a cheeky grin and slight bow.
The couple returned the blessing and continued on their way. Hiccup kept an eye on them and saw the wife was continuing to berate her husband and with the sound of the hooves on the cobble stones it would provide the perfect cover. He crouched down and quickly ran up on carriage thankful for his boots muffling his steps. He quickly nicked the closest pack off the back of the carriage and gave a mocking salute at the oblivious couple as he turned and headed toward Riften.
Once he lost sight of the carriage and was certain he put a good distance between them he pulled off the side of the road to look at the spoils from the pack. Going through pouch after pouch the sound of coins going off in his head got louder and louder. Maps, sliver ingots, goblets, gold coins, a few steel daggers, gems, necklaces, rings, strips of leather, a few vegetables and pieces of salted meat, and canvas tarp and fur blanket rolled up on the outside of the of pack. He had hit the mother lode, exactly what he needed.
Hiccup smiled widely at his haul and quickly looked around to make sure he wasn't being spied on. Not sensing anything unusual he threw the pack on and began to make his way toward the town of Riften, things were finally starting to look up.
As he made his way through the forested roadway Hiccup took in the scene around him. many of the leaves had changed color and were a mix of oranges, yellows, reds, and brown. It truly was a beautiful walk and helped him take his mind off the debacle that happened in Morrowind.
He shook his head to rid himself of the memory. It happened, he got out, time to look toward the future, and hopefully it involved getting in nice and cozy with this apparent Thieves Guild. No doubt there would be some kind of test in order to get in and he was more than prepared to show off his skills. He just hoped that they were good enough to warrant a warning from the Merchant.
The air around him was getting cooler as the sun began to fall, not wanting to get caught out in the wilderness of a strange land Hiccup picked up the pace toward his destination. As he ran for a bit, he heard a rustling in the trees and grass. He slowed down so he could catch his breath, knowing that he was being followed and that a fight was more than likely about to come his way. The sun's rays filtered through the trees and bathed the road in an ethereal haze, if he weren't being tailed by someone or something, Hiccup would stop and draw a picture.
He slowed to a walk and waited for whatever was tailing him to make its move. He heard rustling up a head and watched as a figure emerged from foliage. Placing a hand on his dagger Hiccup prepared himself.
"Mighty heavy pack you have their stranger. How about I relieve you of it? Or I relieve you of your life and take the pack anyway." The figure hissed at Hiccup.
The figure stepped into a ray of light and Hiccup could now tell that person threatening him was an Argonian. The low hissing that emanated from the robber, narrowed pupils, and drawn daggers told Hiccup all he needed to know; only one of them would leave this road alive. Still Hiccup would try and avoid the conflict, he wouldn't be as good a thief as he was if he was constantly getting in fights.
"The pack isn't that heavy, thanks. How's about we go our separate ways, and I don't have to turn you into a new pair of boots." Hiccup countered, drawing his Ebony dagger.
He clearly struck a chord in the reptilian as he growled and hissed at Hiccup.
"Why you little…" The Argonian began and took a step towards Hiccup.
Hiccup however crossed the gap faster than the Argonian could process and had his dagger digging into the would-be robbers' scaly neck.
"Now listen here you walking salamander, I have had a rough couple of days and am in no mood to play this game. I am just trying to find some shelter for the night, and you are stopping me from doing that. I would hate to kill you as I would be a bad thief if I killed all my marks, but I will if you continue to threaten me. Now step aside and let me go about my business, you can rob the next traveler that comes down the road, or I can run my blade across your neck and make a new pair of boots and waterproof my pack. The choice is yours." Hiccup growled as he stared into the reptile's eyes.
A low hiss came from the robber, but he slowly lowered his daggers, seeing that Hiccup had the advantage this time. He backed away slowly, never taking his eyes off the human, he didn't expect this amount of trouble from what was supposed to be a simple robbery.
"Sure, thing friend, seems I was mistaken. Safe travels land strider." The Argonian replied, knowing he was beat.
"Pleasure doing business with you. Hope I never see you again." Hiccup said with a smirk and a deadly tone.
He continued his walk down the road not taking his eyes off the would-be robber until he was certain that enough distance was between them. Hiccup turned around and flicked up a small coin pouch in the air. Smirking to himself as he tied it off to his waist.
"Oh yes, pleasure doing business with you." Hiccup chuckled to himself as he noticed a great stone wall and large wooden gate in the distance.
"Must be Riften." He muttered to himself.
Picking up his pace again so that he could avoid any more 'business' encounters he arrived at the gates to see a stable just outside and a pair of guards just outside.
"Finally." Hiccup sighed in relief.
He walked up to the gate and prepared to walk into the city when one of the guards stopped him.
"Hold it right there traveler, you have to pay a toll if you want to get into our city." The guard said with smirk in his voice.
"Oh you have got to be kidding me, and how much is the so-called toll." Hiccup asked mockingly.
"Oh, I don't know, let's say 200 gold pieces." The guard said after mulling it over for a moment, unsure of much to say.
Not about to be scammed out of his right fully stolen gold Hiccup knew a shakedown when he saw one and prepared to call the guard out.
"This is obviously a shakedown." Hiccup said in a loud voice.
He could see the guard panic as he was called out and waved his hands out in front of him as a few townsfolks were exiting the city.
"Okay, okay, keep your voice down. You want everyone to hear you?" The guard said in a hushed voice.
"You can go in, just watch your step with all those goods and coin, or the Thieves Guild will find you." The guard warned Hiccup.
Hiccup smirked as he walked by and whispered to the guard.
"I'm counting on it." He said with a smirk and deftly snagged the coin purse off the guards' belt.
The gates opened and closed before the guard knew what happened and Hiccup was another gold pouch richer. He walked through the streets and smiled as the opportunities began to lay themselves before him. First thing was first though, he had been on the run for a few days and had an exhaustive trip here he needed to find the local inn and lay down for the night, his search could continue in the morning.
Walking along the cobble stone streets and wooden walkways that crossed over a river that ran through the heart of the city, Hiccup noticed that Riften had a dirty and run down feel to it. If this is where the Thieves Guild was, he hoped their hideout looked better than this.
He quickly found the local inn and place called the Bee and Barb. It was late at night so there wasn't many people in the building. The place seemed to be run a couple of Argonian's who rented him a room. Closing the door and setting down his pack, Hiccup sat on the bed and let out a relaxed sigh. He was safe for now and tomorrow he would start his quest to find the Thieves Guild, hopefully before they found him.
A/N: If only Hiccup knew how close they actually were. What do you think of Hiccup being a Thief? Next time guess who finds who? Hope everyone has been well in this crazy world, and even crazier year. Be well, be kind, and be safe. Feliz Navidad!
