Emerald
It was cold, so very cold.
Metal covered almost every surface they looked at, glass vials, tubes and bottles of many sizes decorated the contractions and machinery.
No speck of dust could be seen as if the basement was perfectly preserved in time before they entered.
Hanging lights turned on automatically once the heavy metal door was fully opened.
The coldness of the room hit almost to the bone and the eeriness in the air only unsettled the trespassers.
At the far right corner of the room a desk was located up against the wall with piles and piles of documents, books and notes. The large room had doors in every wall almost hidden by all the machines and contraptions.
The dark hallway to the left seemed to take you to some more rooms, maybe smaller labs as a few yellow lights could be seen, no one in the room knew exactly how large the basement was or what to expect from it.
As silence ruled in the room, many pairs of eyes looked around for any kind of danger the owner may have placed for unwanted visitors.
As they strained their hearing, a small sound of dripping water could be heard from somewhere in the room and an engine working from afar, the noise travelled through the vents as the generator turned on and the ventilation system started to fill the room with fresh clean air, the temperature regulator also started to work in order to keep the rooms at the necessary temperature in case of a temperature fluctuation.
Deep within the basement there is a smell the group can identify, the smell contrasts hard against the chemical smell of the vials and bottles in the room.
Flowers.
More specifically… roses. What is the scent of roses doing in a laboratory located in the basement? It should belong above ground in the garden of the manner, not in a cage of cold metal underground. Maybe some chemical with the scent of roses? Rose extract? No plant could live in this circumstances.
The group walker around in silence observing everything they could. Allured by the smell of roses one curious individual is guided to a door, almost completely covert by rust and a few… vines? With thorns?
Confused, they take a pair of scissors from a nearby utensils shelve and starts removing a few that are blocking the door handle.
Curiosity got to the rest of the party as they reached the door and helped to open it. The heavy metal door creaked horribly as it was pushed, the rust making it difficult to push it all the way in one go.
Half way the door gave in and slammed to the wall. The sight was something that did not belong to this or any laboratory. Different shades of lush green vines lathered the walls, a few thorns here and there with bright red roses that concentrate from the back of the room and thin out towards the exit where the curious individuals are now standing.
The room looks like a bedroom once the light turns on, a desk with bookshelves to le left that is covered by vines and roses, to the left a small closet and door leading to what seems to be a bathroom, also covered by some vines and roses.
At the end of the room, against the wall lays a bed with the head of the bed against a small bedside table shelve and the foot of the bed facing the closet. The bead appears to be covered in white pillows and bed sheets.
A few looks were exchanged before one decided to take the few steps to have a better look at the room. A small movement on the sheets caught a pair of eyes, approaching said bed, a silhouette was able to be identified under the sheets that was raped by roses at the legs and arms.
An eerie feeling was set on the room. The body was breathing… and had a knife on the chest, but no blood.
