Chapter 29: PTC or Scary?
Agent BM: Thx, and thx for the compliment
It was a normal afternoon at the school, it was almost time to leave, and Miss Twilight had let the kids talk until Sky Lynx came.
"What a day." said Sophie, as she finished packing up her stuff.
"Yeah, I thought it'd never end." replied Kevin.
"Can't wait to go up to my room, and relax." added Lucy.
Then they heard Sky Lynx land outside.
"All right kids, I'll see you all tomorrow. Have a good evening." Twilight told them.
The kids said goodbye to her, and while Kevin and Lucy went to another part of the castle, the other kids left.
As the kids were boarding, Sophie noticed Sky Lynx seemed a little down.
"Sky Lynx, are okay?" she asked.
"Oh, I'm fine, kid." Sky Lynx replied.
Sophie seemed skeptical about that answer.
"Sophie, are you coming?" called Norville.
"Coming."
And she boarded, and took her seat. And then Sky Lynx flew everyone home.
The next day, the kids walked into the classroom ready for another day.
"Good morning, students." greeted Twilight, as she used her magic to write something on the chalkboard.
"Good morning, Miss Twilight." the kids greeted back.
Suddenly, the kids realized what Miss Twilight had written on the board, it was, "PTC next Friday night."
"As you can see parent teacher conferences are next Friday night."
The made the kids nervous. Parent teacher conferences was every kids' worst nightmare. At recess some of the kids discussed it.
"I can't believe it." groaned Toxic.
"It's gonna be the worst night ever." added Petermint.
"Oh come on, guys. It can't be that bad." Sophie told them.
"Sophie you don't seem to realize the seriousness of this situation." Reese informed.
"Yeah, your teacher telling your parents about what they think of your performance at school. And they don't hold back." explained Kevin.
"Is it really like that?" wondered Sophie.
This would be her first parent teacher conference, and what would Miss Twilight tell her parents? As the day went on the kids made sure to be on the best behavior. When the day was done, Sky Lynx picked up the kids, and dropped them off at their homes.
That night at dinner, Sophie told her parents about the news.
"Parent teacher conference, guess we'll see how you're doing in school." Honey said.
"Yes we shall. We won't be getting a bad report from Miss Twilight are we?" wondered Zeke.
"No, you won't." Sophie told him.
Later as she was getting ready for bed, Sophie continued to think about the parent teacher conference.
"I'm a good student, Butter. So I shouldn't get a bad report, right?" she asked her pet bunny.
Butter just squeaked.
"Well goodnight, Butter."
She squeaked again. She turned off the light, and got into bed. As she drifted off to sleep, she still thought of conference. And the thing that happens when you think about something a lot, it turns into a dream or a nightmare.
Dream told in Italics
Sophie was sitting outside the classroom, waiting for her parents to come out. Then the door opened, and Honey and Zeke came out.
"Well?" she asked them.
But both of them looked at her with a look of anger and disappointment.
"Uh, something wrong?"
"Sophie Miss Twilight gave us a terrible report." Zeke told her.
"What?"
"She says you're always misbehaving and causing trouble." added Honey.
"We're very disappointed."
"B-but that can't be right." Sophie protested.
She hurried inside the classroom, and found Twilight at her desk.
"Miss Twilight, what did you tell my parents?" she wanted to know.
"I told them exactly what they needed to know. That you're a very disrespectful girl."
"But I thought I was a good student."
"Well you thought wrong."
Then the floor fell out from under her, and she began to fall into a dark abyss.
Sophie then woke up in cold sweat.
"Oh my gosh, what a nightmare." she breathed.
Then she began to wonder if her dream was a sign. She remembered how bad she was on her very first day. What if Miss Twilight held that against her?
"If I don't want to get a bad report, I better step up my game."
The following day on Sky Lynx the kids talked about the parent teacher conferences.
"I didn't start out as the best student when I first started school. What if Miss Twilight holds that against me?" Sophie confessed.
"And whenever Baking and I got in trouble at school back with our old family would beat up silly." Petermint informed.
Baking nodded in agreement.
"And I'm also in hot water." added Reese.
"My math grade is still low, and my dad is still threatening to cut my allowance."
"Rough. But not as rough as me." Toxic piped up.
"What do you mean, Toxic?" asked Gummy.
"With Sunkirst as my stepmom, she wants me to pay more attention in school. Before I could care less."
"Looks like we're all gonna have to be the best we can be." Sophie declared.
All the kids agreed.
When they got to school, they went straight the classroom, right to their desks, and got ready for the day.
"So you guys nervous too?" wondered Kevin, as he took his seat.
"Yeah, you?" asked Sophie.
"I am." he confessed.
"Why are you nervous, Kevin?" Annaween.
"Lucy's the smart powerful twin. How can I compete with that?" he explained.
The other kids immediately understood. Just then Twilight walked in.
"Good morning, class." she greeted.
"Good morning, Miss Twilight." the class greeted back.
"Now we have a lot to do, so let's not dilly dally."
So class went on, but Twilight noticed her students didn't act like they usually did. Instead of daydreaming, fiddling around with the things on their desks, or whispered to their neighbors, they were paying full attention.
"Anyone have any questions?" she asked them.
"No, Miss Twilight." the kids replied.
"Well, since we finished the first half of our lessons a little earlier, why don't you all go to recess early?"
"Thank you, Miss Twilight."
Instead of stepping on each other trying to get out, all the kids just calmly walked out of the classroom.
For the week the kids were on their best behavior. They didn't cause any disruption, they paid attention in class, got their work done when it was due, and even kissed up a little to Miss Twilight. Finally the day of the parent teacher conference came.
The kids were a little nervous. When the day ended Twilight made a little announcement.
"Kids, before I speak to your parents this evening, I just want to say I think you're all great kids and wonderful students. And I look forward to speaking with your parents."
That made some of the kids feel better, and they left the classroom.
That evening the kids returned to the classroom with their parents.
"This is it." Sophie said to her friends.
"I know." replied Kevin.
"I think you guys have been worrying for nothing." Lucy piped up.
"Yeah, just relax." added Norville.
"Easy for you guys to say." Toxic told them.
"Yeah, you're great at school, so you have nothing to worry about." added Petermint.
Baking nodded in agreement with his brother. Then Twilight opened the door, and stepped out.
"Welcome parents. Now there's a lot of you so let's get started. Your Highnesses you two are first." she announced.
Vanellope and Rancis went inside with her. A few minutes later, they came out.
"Well?" Kevin wanted to know.
"We got an excellent report." Rancis told them.
"For both of you." added Vanellope.
"Really?" asked Kevin.
"I knew it." replied Lucy.
"Lucy, you're a great student, and Kevin you're as great your sister." said Rancis.
Kevin smiled at hearing that.
One by one, Twilight talked to each of the parents. Petermint and Baking were relieved to hear that Miss Twilight thought they were improving from their old lifestyle and adjusting well to their new permanent environment.
Sunkirst was pleased to hear that Toxic was doing well in class. Reese's dad was glad to hear that she was improving with her math skills. Finally Honey and Zeke came out from speaking with Twilight.
"Well?" Sophie asked her parents.
"Miss Twilight says you're doing well in class." Zeke told her.
"Seriously?"
"And she said you've come a long way from when you first started school." added Honey.
"So she didn't say I was a bad student?"
"No of course not. We're both very proud of you." Honey replied.
Sophie smiled, and hugged her parents. Then everyone left feeling very pleased with themselves and their kids.
