Summary: "We can still do this. We can come together and win. I've seen darker days than this. I've fought and won battles that looked more hopeless. You all keep saying we're not heroes. We're legends. Well… let's write that legend today!"
(For Rip Week Day 3)
For Victory!
Rip took a moment to find the right words to rally the team against what felt like impossible odds. "We can still do this. We can come together and win. I've seen darker days than this. I've fought and won battles that looked more hopeless. You all keep saying we're not heroes. We're legends. Well… let's write that legend today!"
Sara stuck her hand out into the center of the circle they'd formed and the rest of the team followed suit, covering her hand with theirs. Rip went last, hand atop the whole pile. "For victory!"
"Victory!" the rest of them chorused, flinging their hands up and away.
Rip picked up the somewhat unfamiliar gun. But the weight and the sight range were fairly standard. "Alright, Jax, Professor. You two stay here and guard the base. Snart and Rory, the two of you are the most familiar with distracting our main opponent, so the two of you should seek him out and keep him occupied. Just because the rules of this place call for no powers doesn't mean he won't cheat."
That got him nods. "If we can take out any of the others along the way, we'll do that too," Snart assured him, face serious.
"Very good. Sara, Ray. The two of you are with me. We're to infiltrate the enemy camp and retrieve the item. Sara is the fastest of the three of us. So if either of us get the item, Ray, we are to pass it off to Sara. You," he said, turning to Sara, "are to get the item back here before we run out of time. Ray and I will have your back, for as long as we're able."
"Understood." Sara nodded sharply.
Rip surveyed his team. "Whatever happens, know that I have never been more proud than to serve with all of you."
A bell tolled in the distance. It was time.
"I can't believe you all beat us," Barry Allen complained, covered in blue and purple paint from Snart and Rory's paint guns.
Rip smirked. "We had the superior team work." Then he watched in amusement as, a few tables over, Sara and Mick began filling the trophy with beer, apparently intending to use it as a gigantic beer stein.
"Better luck next time, Scarlet," Len added, leering at the speedster. Who actually blushed.
… there were things Rip, perhaps, did not want to know about his childhood hero.
"I think I'm going to go join in the festivities. Though, might I just say… that was the most fun game of capture the flag that I've ever played. Thank you for inviting us, Mr. Allen."
"Anytime." Barry was still staring at Len, though, so Rip concluded that a retreat truly was in order and went in search of a beer that was neither American nor cold.
