Tobio was so excited for his first middle school tournament! Sure he wasn't going to be playing but the feeling of actually being here was enough for him to be able to overlook that. Plus he'd be able to watch Oikawa-San play and that was more than enough for him!
Even if the older probably hated him, he couldn't help but still look up to him as a mentor and to learn more from him.
Kunimi told him multiple times to just give up on him and the looks that Kindaichi sent him were more than enough to tell him that he agreed but he turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to them.
After all, they were speaking as if he was in love with Oikawa-San! How ridiculous! (No, not really but he would never admit to that)
Thoughts of his Senpai not liking him had him deflating slightly, attracting Kindaichi's attention who sent him a concerned look but he just waved him away.
He would be fine. Maybe.
When they all exited the bus the coach had told them they could wander around to get a true feel of the place and immediately Tobio had been swept away by all the excited first years and some of the second years following the third years.
He sighed sadly when he realised that nobody had realised he had disappeared, not even Kindaichi or Kunimi.
He kicked a pebble on the ground sadly before taking a deep breath and looked up, a look of determination on his face. He could just wander around by himself for a while! Maybe even get something to drink or eat.
With those positive thoughts he made his way inside the center and started walking around, not really focusing on anything.
Apparently, that was a stupid mistake. He had ended up being lost within 5 minutes with only a few measly coins and notes on him. Shoot.
'Don't panic, Tobio!' he thought to himself, looking around for a place to sit and wait for someone on his team to find him. Sure he'll get in trouble and Oikawa-San will probably tease him about it until the next century but he is sure that it won't take that long to find him.
With those confident thoughts he laid out his jacket on a relatively clean area on the floor and sat down. Now, it was time to wait.
"Oi, Kindaichi." hissed Kunimi under his breath as their team celebrated winning the matches of the day, looking around frantically for his other friend. "Where the fuck is Kagayama?"
After Kindaichi had shrugged before he had then realised the weight of the words that Kunimi had spoken and began looking around frantically.
"Shoot!" he whispered in distress, hands going over to his spiked up hair. "What are we going to do?" he spoke a bit too loudly and that had ended up attracting the attention of everyone on the team, everyone turning to the first years, causing them to blush at the attention.
"What do you mean Kindaichi-kun?" asked Oikawa, shooting them a bright smile.
"Kagayama's lost!" Kindaichi's embarrassment was lost as he remembered his friend was gone.
It was silent until Oikawa began to laugh slightly, causing the rest of the team to follow hesitantly. At least until Iwaizumi slapped him across the head.
"Ow! Mean iwa-chan!" whined Oikawa, rubbing the back of his head before turning back to Kindaichi, a fake smile on his face "Now, what do you mean Tobio-chan is lost? Are you sure he didn't just go to the bathroom." Thankfully the brown haired bastard cut off any rude remarks then because if he had said anything then Kunimi would have gone feral.
"Meaning we haven't been able to find him." answered Kunimi, his voice condescending but face innocent, causing Oikawa to narrow his eyes at him but Kunimi just sent him a smile back.
"Yes I understand what being lost means Kunimi-chan!" Kunimi felt his eyes twitch slightly but kept quiet from making any more remarks.
"Well then can't you find Tobio then? Seeing as you're such an amazing, intelligent and caring senpai!" Someone from the crowd snickered slightly but Oikawa already had his ego inflated.
"Well, I guess I can spare a couple special minutes to look for my adorable little underclassmen." a feeling rose within Akira but he squashed it down instantly. No time to dismantle feelings whilst one of his friends was missing.
"Great! We'll meet you outside Shittykawa." interrupted Iwaizumi, clearly seeing the look of utter murder on his face.
"He better find him or I swear…" trailed Kunimi darkly to Kindaichi, missing the clearly exasperated yet worried look on his face.
Tobio kept any pathetic noises to himself. It had been several hours and his teammates still hadn't gone to look for him and at this point he felt like it was a lost cause.
He was about to give up and just accept that he would now be forced into living at the center when a large shadow covered him. He gulped slightly before trying to look up at who it was. Trying was the key word here because the person looked like an absolute beast!
He had to actually get up from the floor to be able to look at them and when he did he gasped and blushed. It was Ushijima Wakatoshi!
"H-hello!" he cringed at the highness of his voice but the taller boy didn't seem to mind much. In fact he seemed slightly concerned.
"What are you doing all alone on the floor?" When the question was asked Tobio deflated slightly, looking down and kicking at nothing.
"Umm, I kinda got separated from my team and no one had found me." 'No one has gone to find me' would have been more accurate but Tobio already felt pathetic enough as it was.
"Would you like it if I helped you find your way back? It's quite clear that you're lost and you look like a first year as well." his idol was asking him if he wanted to walk with him. Tobio felt his soul leave his body then and there.
"I-I would like that! Umm, my school is Kitagawa!" Tobio said before he flushed at stating the obvious. Idiot!
The older teen didn't say anything, and only allowed his lips to twitch slightly before starting to walk in a random direction forcing Tobio to hurry up.
Stupid Tobio-chan getting lost so easily! How did nobody find out earlier! How can anyone miss such an adorable little face?
Blegh. Tobio-chan is actually making him worried. Gross!
"Where are you Tobio-chan?" and just as Tooru said that his underclass men came into view. For a moment Tooru took in the adorable view of his cute little Kouhai laughing happily with a small flush on his cheeks before a sense of darkness took over him as he saw Ushiwaka near him.
He didn't know how it happened. All he knew is that one second he was on the other side of the hallway before he ended up pulling Tobio-chan into his arms and shooting a poisonous look.
"Ushiwaka." he said through clenched teeth, his arms tightening around Tobio-chan. If he had bothered to look down he would have seen the bright blush on the younger boy's face but sadly he was focusing on his rival.
"Oikawa." He returned stoically and Tooru held in the urge to punch him in the face.
Instead, he just flashed him a fake smile and turned back to Tobio-chan who seemed to have turned into a tomato in those 5 or so seconds.
"Tobio-chan! I've been looking all over for you!" not exactly true but no way was he going to admit to that in front of Ushiwaka.
"R-really Oikawa-San?" the small boy asked, his eyes shining hopefully and Tooru would have to be an utter asshole to say no to that face.
"Of course I was! Why wouldn't I not be looking for my adorable little Kouhai!" he cooed and to add extra effect he kissed him on the cheek.
In all actuality he just wanted to make one thing clear to the boy who was glaring at him. Tobio-chan was his.
"Well now that I've found you it's time to go! Hope to never see you again Ushiwaka!" and he turned around, taking Tobio with him and didn't bother looking back at the other boy. Only flipping from over his shoulder as he guided Tobio-chan outside.
When Akira finally saw Tobio he didn't care about the others, he only just ran up to him and hugged him, shooting a smug smile at Oikawa.
"Finally! I thought Oikawa-San had gotten lost!" he said with faux worry.
"Oh no! Oikawa-San found me after Ushijima-san found me as well!" Tobio said excitedly before he was hugged again, this time by Kindaichi.
"I am so glad that you're okay!" he said after pulling back only for Oikawa to start coughing.
"Well, you're welcome!". Akira enjoyed shutting him up.
"What are we thanking you for Senpai. Last I checked, Tobio said that Ushijima found him." he said and sent the same poisonous look back at Oikawa.
They would have both enjoyed glaring at each other if not for Iwaizumi-san coming up.
"Kageyama! Thank god we found you!" he said, relieved.
Tobio only nodded, a confused look on his face, before leaning on Kindaichi. "Carry me, please?" he asked in that voice that he knew Kindaichi couldn't say no to.
"Laziness all around I swear." Kindaichi grumbled as he carried a giggling Tobio to the bus on his back with Iwaizumi-San making sure he didn't fall.
"This isn't over Kunimi-chan!" oikawa Whispered in his ear and Kunimi felt himself smirk.
"Bring it." he replied with venom.
And all this because Tobio had gotten lost.
