AN – So, I don't know exactly when or how, but I just got this idea where the team ends up in Gotham for one reason or another and they meet Barbara and are surprised at how well she knows details about Dick and reveal their own frustrations at how guarded he is. So Barbara takes pity on them and tells them a few things that helps out in the future. I wasn't planning on writing it, but the idea stayed stuck in my head and wouldn't leave. I haven't read many comics unfortunately so a lot of the details are coming from what I have read, head-canons that I've seen, other fanfictions and from what I think based on what I've seen in this TV show's version of Dick Grayson. I also tried to include parts of Dick's personality in the comics and explain why he's not really like that in the show, because I'm still holding out hope that we will see Dick be the happy, joking ball of sunshine he is in the comics. Hope you guys like it!

Also, the episode titles for the first 10 episodes of season 3 (not sure how many episodes there will be) has been leaked/released and I am losing my mind! Anyone else?

Enjoy!

Rachel slowly walked around the Batcave, trying to find something interesting to do. It had been four months since the fight with Slade and Cadmus. Since she had left for Themyscira with Donna's body, hoping she could bring her back to life. It took a while but she was ultimately successful. It was amazing having Donna back but she wasn't ready to head to Titans Tower just yet. She said she had more healing to do, mentally and emotionally. So Rachel came back by herself, finally reuniting with her newfound family.

That was only about ten days ago. Rachel hardly had any time to settle back in to her home before a case the Titans had been working on led them to Gotham. Dick offered to go by himself as Gotham was Batman's city and he was extremely picky about other heroes coming in it. However, the others didn't want Dick to go off alone and Dick didn't want Bruce to take over even though he offered. While Dick and Bruce had seemed to patch up their relationship for the most part, it was clear there were still some issues and boundaries they both had.

At first, everything was exciting. Exploring the Manor and the Batcave, but it soon started to get a bit boring. Dick wouldn't let her, Gar, Rose or Jericho, who was still in his sister's body, go out on patrol with the older heroes. Apparently Gotham criminals are way crazier and more dangerous than the ones in San Francisco and Dick doesn't want them anywhere near them. The younger heroes all found that rather hypocritical considering Dick was fighting crime in Gotham's streets at the age of 12, but Dick wouldn't budge.

Right now, Dick was sitting at the unnecessarily large computer, dubbed the Batcomputer, looking for information he could find about the lead they found the night before Hank, Dawn and Alfred were upstairs, Bruce was at work, and Rachel, Kory, Gar and Rose/Jericho were down in the Cave. Gar and Jericho wanted to explore more while Kory and Rachel tried to convince Dick to take a break. They had been here for three days and Dick had barely slept or ate. However, he refused to stop.

Rachel was wondering if she and Kory could just both grab his arms and drag him up to bed when she heard the elevator right by the stairs reach the Cave floor. Barbara Gordon. They had all met the second day they arrived in Gotham. A redhead, blue-eyed woman in a wheelchair who is the police commissioner of Gotham, like her father used to be. She was also aware that Bruce Wayne is Batman and Dick was the first Robin and thus figured out who they were. She was also, apparently a close friend of Dick's but Rachel had the sense there was something more there than just friendship.

"How long have you been down here?" Barbara questioned as she wheeled over to the computer.

"Not long." Dick absently answered.

"Correction, you've been down here for almost 17 hours straight Dick." Barbara told him. When he didn't respond, she placed a hand on his arm and added, "You need to take a break. Go get something to eat, rest. Have you even gone to the bathroom?"

"I'm fine." Dick insisted angrily, still not looking at her. Slightly amused by the argument coming, Rachel sat down to watch, curious as to see if Barbara could actually get through the Titans' leader where they couldn't. Gar, apparently just at entertained as she was, sat down beside her. Even Rose came closer to watch, though she tried her hardest to appear interested. It was probably Jericho who wanted to see what was going to happen.

Kory however, left the punching bag she had been beating up and walked over to Barbara and Dick as she said, "Dick, we can take over."

"No, it's okay." Dick replied, not looking at her either. His attention was solely on the screen, and on one hand, it was impressive that he could still focus so hard on his task with all these distractions. On the other hand, if he was more easily distracted, then they would have a better chance of talking him into taking a break. Or at least trick him into doing it.

"Dick." Barbara's hard voice demanded attention and to be taken seriously. Dick still kept his gaze on the computer, but he tensed up and waited for Barbara to continue, which she quickly did. "If you don't, I'm telling Alfred."

That made him pause. He finally looked over at the former vigilante and said, "Babs,"

"Don't test me. I know where he keeps the sedatives." Barbara threatened, lifting a finger to point it right in his face. Dick stared at her for a few seconds, then stood up.

"I'm going." He muttered with an annoyed tone as he made his way to the stairs.

Rachel watched with a shocked expression. In the entire time she had known Dick Grayson, she had never seen him back down when he was determined to be stubborn. She assumed that Donna, and maybe Alfred and Bruce, could get him to listen but she didn't know for sure. It was so crazy to her to see some basically threaten Dick to do something and him actually do it. Even Kory threatening him didn't work. Then again, she didn't full on threaten him just yet. But who was this Barbara that got Dick to actually listen?

"And you better not be back here in less than six hours Grayson!" Barbara suddenly shouted before he fully exited the Cave. There was no response, not that she was really expecting one. Shaking her head and smirking, she moved closer to the computer, intending to take over for Dick when she noticed Kory, Rose/Jericho, Rachel and Gar staring at her with thoughtful frowns on their faces.

"What?"

"Nothing." Rachel answered, turning her chair around to look at the table even though there was nothing on it.

"Those looks weren't nothing." Barbara responded, her eyes going from the teenagers to Kory who still stood nearby, looking a bit awkward.

Growing more uncomfortable under the other redhead's gaze, Kory said, "It's just we've tried telling Dick to take a break earlier and he wouldn't listen."

"Probably because he doesn't think you guys would seriously follow through on any threats you made. Just follow through on one, and he'll listen next time." Barbara answered with an assuring tone. However, she then thought for a few seconds before adding, "Probably."

"You know Dick pretty well, don't you?" Kory then questioned, causing the teens again to turn and watch the two redheads.

"Well, yeah. We were best friends all through school and during college before he went to San Francisco to start the Titans." Barbara said, sounding a little confused as to what Kory was really asking. There was something in her voice that seemed to imply, something, but Barbara didn't really know what.

"Right." Rachel mumbled, slightly sarcastic. Though both Dick and Barbara had said they were friends that had grown up together, it was quite clear to all the Titans there that was more than just a friendship there. They had some kind of romantic history.

She didn't mean for the woman in the wheelchair to hear, but she must've because she looked straight at Rachel and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Rachel immediately responded, again moving so her back would be facing Barbara, but then she heard her say in a kind yet no-argument voice, "Rachel, tell me."

"It's just frustrating." The raven-haired girl told her, slowly turning back to face the others. All of them, not just Barbara, appeared confused by her words.

"What is?" Kory wondered before Barbara could, growing confused for the girl that was finally back with after months of being away.

"We've been living with Dick for months and we still hardly know anything about him. Even Hank and Dawn don't know that much." Rachel complained.

"What don't we know?" Hank's voice suddenly came from the stairs. Everyone's heads snapped in that direction to find not only Hank coming down the stairs, but Dawn, only a foot or so behind him.

Sighing, Rachel said, "I was just telling Barbara that even though we all live together in the Tower, we don't actually know Dick all that well. Like, we know he used to be Robin, is an extremely skilled fighter, can be extremely protective, blames himself for anything that goes wrong, and is awkward in social gatherings, but that's about it. Like, we don't even know his favourite colour."

"And that's important?" Barbara asked, finding it amusing that of all the things this teen Dick had taken in wanted to know was his favourite colour.

"Forget it." Rachel grumbled before once again, turning around so she didn't have to see Barbara's face. She just didn't get it. Yes, it made sense that Barbara would know Dick extremely well. If Donna was with them, they would all no doubt see some of the same behaviour as she and Dick also knew each a lot better than the rest of them did, but that didn't mean they didn't want to know him as well.

Barbara looked back and forth at each of the Titans. While the older heroes hid it better, it was clear that they were having the same frustrations the younger ones were. The latest police commissioner knew Dick was far more guarded than he used to be, for a multitude of reasons, but she didn't have that problem when she met him. They had met when they were kids and had quickly become best friends. She supposed she could help these guys do the same.

"His favourite colour is red, though he does also like blue. His favourite movies, are, don't tell him I told you this because he will kill me, are actually Disney and musicals." Barbara informed them, causing everyone's heads to lift.

"Disney? Really?" Rose questioned with a skeptical and slightly judgmental tone of voice.

"Dick started crime fighting when he was 12, in one of the most crime-riddled cities in the world. He's seen a lot of things, that he doesn't want to see when he's just wanting to relax and have a movie night. Disney movies are usually fairly lighthearted and happy. And musicals, he just like the music, most of the time." Barbara explained.

"Okay, I guess that makes sense." Hank conceded. There had been times when he and Dawn were out on the streets just as Hawk and Dove where they seemed to catch the worst kind of criminals and all they wanted to do was find something to distract themselves with as sleeping would just bring nightmares.

"If he's had a really bad day, like a massively serious case or job gone wrong though, he'll switch to nature documentaries because he doesn't want to deal with people, at all, even fake characters in films." The police commissioner added.

"Got it." Kory responded, remembering one night where Dick was still up at two in the morning, laying on the couch while a movie about whales played on the TV. She had just thought he couldn't sleep and there was nothing interesting on TV, not that it was a conscious decision.

Barbara then thought for a moment, wondering what else they should probably know, then said, "Though it's clear you guys haven't seen his fun, joking, pranking side yet, be rest assured he does have it."

"He plays pranks?" Gar questioned excitedly, ideas of what pranks he could pull on the older vigilante while Rose tensed up. She hated pranks but Jericho apparently liked them and was just as excited as Gar was that Dick enjoyed them as well according to Barbara.

"Yes, and just so you know, if you prank him, he will not only prank you back, he'll hack into the security cameras to record it and use it to blackmail you at a later date. He's a troll." The computer whiz warned.

"Noted." Gar replied, suddenly feeling nervous about pulling any practical jokes on Dick. Though he had no idea what Dick would do to retaliate, he didn't like the idea of someone having blackmail material on him.

"How come he's not like now?" Rachel wondered. Everything Barbara was saying made Dick sound like a troublemaker full of sunshine. While he definitely looked like sunshine when he smiled, a real, true smile, he didn't act like that at all. He was usually always so serious and responsible.

"Well first off, he's a little guarded due to having people he considered family walking out on him," Barbara shot a pointed look in Hank and Dawn's direction and waited until they both lowered their heads somewhat shamefully before she continued, "and he probably just doesn't know yet what your guys' boundaries are yet. He knows that not everybody is okay with stuff like that."

"Okay." Rose mumbled, glad to hear that. She had a lot of boundaries due to issues caused by Slade and just by her personality and she was glad that their leader understood that.

"That actually brings me to another point. He actually really loves touch." Barbara recalled. At first, she thought they probably already knew that, but they all seemed really surprised, even Dawn though she had dated him for a time.

"Really?" Gar questioned with a skeptical tone.

"Oh yeah, he loves to hug and gives hugs but again, knows not everyone is the same. Plus, he grew up with Bruce who has the emotional range of a teaspoon." Barbara answered.

Dawn nodded at that. "Good point."

"He also, is actually pretty good with social gatherings, but he found out that if he acts obtuse or confrontational, people tend to leave him alone. He learned that during the many, many galas and parties and stuff that Bruce would drag him to." Barbara then added, her words again surprising the group. "But trust me, when he wants to, he can turn on the charm."

"I can't really believe that." Kory replied, remembering his demeanor when they first met.

"It doesn't happen that much anymore because when he does, he gets a lot of attention. And a lot of it, isn't really the um, 'comfortable', kind." The other redhead revealed, purposely being vague. Seeing the confused expressions again cover their faces, she wondered if she should give more details, when Hank suddenly said, "Oh."

"What?" Dawn asked, turning to face him.

Hank looked a bit uncomfortable, but said, "You know how girls can get a lot of, kind of inappropriate, attention from guys?"

"Yeah." Kory responded.

"Us guys can get that too." He informed them.

Aside from the times when he was kid by his coach, Hank had noticed he had gotten that attention when he was a preteen from men on the streets near his home. As soon as he got older and stronger, when he became bigger than the others, it stopped. It changed to girls checking him out, but it wasn't anywhere near as uncomfortable as the predatory stares he would get before that. And though Dick was fit and could easily defend himself, he was smaller than Hank and didn't give off that intimidating vibe that Hank easily could. If he acted confrontational or obtuse, that would definitely be a turn off to people.

"Oh." Dawn was the first to realize what Hank was getting at, having known his history. It took a few more seconds but the others seemed to understand as well.

"He also loves junk food." Barbara then said, changing the topic, much Hank's relief.

"He does? He keeps trying to make us eat healthy." Gar complained, still completely bitter over Dick's attempt to make them eat cauliflower pizza.

"That's because he's responsible for you and wants to make sure you are all eating right. Trust me, he is a sugar addict. If he's alone, or with people his own age, he lives on takeout, and cereal. Every now and then he will get something with veggies though, because someone is either forcing him to, or he just knows that he needs to eat something healthy at least once in a while." Barbara told him.

"Oh yeah, I remember that." Dawn commented with a grin. During the time they had been the Titans with Donna and Garth, so many times they would just order Chinese and eat junk food.

Nodding his head and smiling widely, Hank added, "So many pizzas and so much Chinese."

"Pizza I get, but cereal?" Gar questioned. He didn't mind cereal and would eat it, but at the Chief's house, and at the Tower, they always had food like pancakes and waffles and crepes.

"When he was a kid, he tried to convince Bruce and Alfred that cereal should be its own food group. It didn't work." Barbara replied with a chuckle and a smirk, her eyes a little distant as though she was somewhat lost in the memory.

"So he's only being healthy because of us?" Rose questioned.

Barbara nodded in confirmation. "Yup. It's actually a great way to trick him into actually taking care of himself. Make him think that he's helping someone else."

"You're kind of evil." Kory noted thoughtfully, then smiled and said, "I like it."

Barbara laughed for a moment, then shook her head and kept going. "He can also speak a lot of different languages. Not just because Bruce made him but because he was in a traveling circus for the first 12 years of his life. English actually isn't his first language."

"Really?" Dawn, and everyone else, seemed really surprised to hear that. Dick had never mentioned he knew other languages, they'd never heard him speak anything other than English. Even his voice sounded perfectly American, not at all hinting that he had a different birth language.

"Nope. Romani was his first language, because of his Mom. She was Romani." She informed them.

"Really? Does that make him a gypsy?" Gar wondered, recalling a TV show or something about people from Romania or something like that.

To his shock, an intense expression came upon Barbara's face and she said, "Don't you ever call him that."

"Why?" Rose then asked.

"Because that is actually a slur. It's like calling an African American person, the really inappropriate and insulting 'N' word." Barbara explained.

"Oh. Got it." Hank responded, remembering all the times people would insult his brother Don simply because of his skin colour. He hadn't ever thought of Dick having to deal with something like that, but now that he thought about it, he could see the rich snobs that undoubtedly hung around Bruce Wayne look down on Dick simply for not truly being a part of their circle.

"Thanks for all the tips." Rachel told Barbara with a smile. She felt slightly guilty for getting this information about Dick from someone other than him, but for the most part, was happy that she finally found out more about the man who was quickly becoming her father figure.

"Yeah. Can't wait to start pranking him. April Fool's Day is going to be amazing." Rose/Jericho said, signing the words as she spoke, letting the other know that it was really Jericho speaking.

"Oh no, no. Do not under any circumstances do that on April 1st." Barbara protested, her tone just as serious as it was before when talking about Dick's heritage.

"What? Why not?" Gar inquired. He also ways looking forward to playing pranks on their leader and April Fool's Day would be one of the best days to do it.

"April 1st, is the anniversary of his parents' death." Barbara revealed, causing everyone to tense up. "On that day, it's best to just leave him alone."

"Oh, okay." Gar mumbled, understanding the sad reason but also feeling a little bummed that the day that was supposed to be the most fun of the year, was the saddest for Dick. That really sucked.

"Yeah, anniversaries like that are pretty tough." Dawn chimed in, remembering whenever the day her mom and Hank's brother died rolled around, they both just wanted to be alone and wallow.

Barbara nodded, then questioned, "Anything else you guys want to know?"

"No, I think that covers a lot. Thanks Barbara." Kory told her with a sincere smile.

"You're welcome." Barbara replied, also giving them all a smile. She moved to turn back to the computer screen, then suddenly jerked back around and said, "Don't tell him I told you all this though, okay?"

"You got it." Kory promised.

AN – Okay, I added Dick being Romani because in the comics, he actually is and I feel like that doesn't get acknowledged as much, so I wanted to bring that in. I tried my best with the terminology but if I made a mistake, please let me know and I will fix it. Also, I'm not exactly sure when Dick's parents died (I swear it feels like the writers change those dates every time they restart the comics from the beginning), but I had heard it was April 1st and since I was talking about Dick pranking people, I thought it would be a good way to tie that in.

Now that the team knows all this information, just what will they do with it? Find out next time I update (whenever that it). See you all then!
