Stuck
A little idea of a story I got. I had to write it, hopefully you'll like it!
The group was walking on the street, it was already pretty late in the evening, but the sun was still present. They were returning home after a fantastic day they had in an amusement park.
"Honestly, we gotta do this more often, this was such a great day!" Deema said to the rest. All nodded.
"Pfouh, I'm hungry. There is the shopping centre, let's enter it quickly to buy some food. There is a new cupcake shop." Gil said.
"Oooooh!" The rest said. They were enthusiastic and the 6 went to the shopping centre.
"Do you know were it is Gilly?" Molly asked.
"I'm guessing on the first floor."
The group entered via the front entrance to end up standing in the middle of a giant room. There was a big fountain in the middle, shops all around the room and main stairs to go up. The roof was a glass circle.
"It has changed since I came here!" Goby said being impressed.
"Me too." Oona said. Nonny nodded a bit.
"It's pretty calm. They will close soon so let's hurry." Molly said. The rest nodded and they started searching. The group went upstairs, but didn't find the right shop. After half an hour of searching, the shopping centre was completely empty. Suddenly all the lights went out.
"What happened?" Gil asked.
"The lights are out, oh no." Molly said.
"I'm scared." Oona said hiding in Nonny's arms.
"The main entrance!" Gil said and the 6 ran to it.
"It's closed, we're stuck in the dark!" Gil said panicking.
"Aren't there like night guards?" Deema asked.
"I saw they were striking, what a coincidence!" Molly said.
"I suggest we try to found the light switches." Nonny proposed. The rest agreed and started searching again.
"Stay close to each other." Molly said looking around.
After some searching…
"Authorized personnel only. Here! It has to be here. What a luck, the door isn't closed." Deema shouted. The 6 entered the little room. There was the main light switch. Molly pushed it up and all the lights got reactivated.
"Perfect, I feel better now." Oona said smiling.
"Now we need to call for help." Molly said.
"Uhm, I don't think it will be possible. There's not a single phone around here." Everyone sighed.
"No choice, we must wait until tomorrow morning." Molly said.
"We have to sleep here?" Deema asked.
"I guess so, we should explore a bit to find things we could use. Food, a place to sleep…" They all nodded and split up now that the lights were on.
The girls would search for a place to sleep and the boys for food. We'll follow the girls first.
"First, we need a bed or anything decently soft to sleep on. Second, we need to find a place to sleep." Molly explained.
"We could gather comfortable chairs from all the shops to put next to each other." Oona proposed.
"That's not comfortable at all! Hasn't one of these shops a sofa? I don't know why it would have a sofa, but it's possible." Deema said.
"Maybe there's a sofa shop around here. Let's search to find out." Molly said. The girls started walking and went downstairs first. There first saw a barber, a tearoom, a parfum shop and a cloths shop.
"I'll check the barber, Oona can you check the tearoom. And Deema the parfum shop?" Molly asked.
"I'm going to the cloths shop first." Deema thought.
Molly entered the barbershop, of course there wasn't anything they could use. Oona didn't have luck too. The 2 quickly left and reunited.
"Where's Deema?" Molly asked.
"She might have found something in the parfum shop. Let's go there." Oona proposed. No Deema there.
"I should have known. She went to the cloths shop. Deema." Molly said.
"Deema have you found something here?" The 2 asked finding her in the cloths shop.
"Yeah! All my favourite brands are here! Look at this shirt, and these pants. Ooh! And these shoes! But if you were talking about a comfortable thing to sleep on, I found this winter jacket in artificial fox fur. It's beautiful, and ecological." Deema said.
Molly and Oona took Deema with them back at their starting position.
"We didn't go to that shop over there." Molly said pointing the opposite direction. They approached the shop.
"Weird, the lights here are off, wait here's the switch." Molly switched the lights on and the shop appeared to be a bed selling boutique.
"Jackpot!" Deema shouted.
"This is what I call being lucky! Let's choose a good bed for us and then call the boys." Molly said.
"One that's big enough for our 6, they sell giant beds these days." Deema said.
"You can sleep next to Goby then." Molly said laughing.
"And you next to your Gilly."
"Hey, I'm the only one allowed to call him like that!"
The boys searched for food during the same time.
"We gotta find the cupcake shop." Gil said walking upstairs.
"How does it look like?" Goby asked.
"It's completely in pink!" Gil said turning left.
"Oh, you mean that shop to the right?" Nonny said pointing. It was indeed the cupcake shop.
"You're right, it's to the right, right?" Gil said jokingly. The rest ignored it awkwardly.
"Ting ting!" the door said when opened.
"This, looks, awesome!" Gil said enthusiastically.
"Let's taste them!" He added. Gil ran to the glass shelves behind the bar and took a cupcake. He took a bite and…
"Beurk! What is this? It's horrible! It's as hard as concrete! And it tastes like plastic!"
"Ever ate plastic?" Goby asked.
"Of course not! But it's just disgusting!" The boys left the shop soon after the incident.
"I suggest we go to the supermarket next to it." Nonny said.
The 3 entered it with a shopping basket.
"Now the question is, what should we take?" Goby asked.
"Let's go to the candy and cookies part of the market!" Gil proposed.
"As dinner? That's not healthy at all, we can take some for after it, but we need something healthy to eat too." Nonny said.
"Meat isn't an option, we can't cook it. Pasta either. What's left?" Goby said thinking.
"Cornflakes?" Gil said.
"Meh, maybe for tomorrow morning, I don't know. Why do we have to go search for food?" Goby said.
"Fruit, bread, nuts. Go search for that. What else, let me think… bottled water, ham perhaps too, it can be eaten raw. Let me make a list, they sell paper and pens here. Nonny said.
The 3 chased down all the halls to get what they wanted.
"Apples, bananas, pears?"
"Check."
"2 long baguettes?"
"Check."
"Nuts?"
"Deez nuts."
"Gil!"
"Sorry, check."
"water?"
"Check."
"Ham?"
"Check."
"Gil's cookies and candies?"
"Check."
"I think that was all, let's go find the girls." Nonny said.
The 3 exited the supermarket with all their newly acquired food. They went down the stairs very cautiously, fortunately they succeeded.
"Molly? Deema? Oona?" Gil screamed.
"Over here!" Molly shouted. The boys looked behind them and saw the girls in the bed shop.
"Wow what a jackpot!" Deema said.
"Yeah, we took what we could eat. And have you found a place to sleep?" Goby asked.
"This store only sells beds, we found a giant one for us all." Molly said.
"Nice, let's sit on a bench and eat."
The group sat down on a picknick bench and ate what the boys brought back from the supermarket.
"Anyone want a cookie?" Gil proposed with the package in his hand.
"No thank you, I've eaten enough." Deema said panting.
"Only one then." Goby said taking exactly one.
The group talked a bit more until they got tired. The girls showed the boys the bed where they would sleep this night.
"This one's giant!" Goby said.
"And comfortable." Gil said jumping on it.
"Hmm, one thing. We don't have pyjamas." Molly noticed.
"Ooh! I saw in the cloths shop. It was handy after all." Deema said. She left and came back with a whole lot of clothes.
"Here, you can choose." She said.
Molly took a pink shirt and shorts pyjama. Deema a yellow one and Oona a purple one (coincidently).
Gil chose a blue pyjama, Goby a purple one and Nonny opted for an orange one (again just a coincidence).
The 6 took place in the bed in the next order. Gil, Molly, Deema, Goby, Nonny, Oona.
"Anyone wanna tell a story before we go to sleep?" Gil asked.
"Are you still getting stories before bedtime? At your age? You want a kiss too?" Goby asked.
"No of course not. It's just because now, you know?" Gil said.
"Nonny, you're a great reader, can you tell us a story?" Oona asked.
"Yes you read tons of books, you probably know a lot of stories." Deema said.
"Well okay then, let me start. It's from the book I'm currently reading. There one's was a group of people that created a society. It grew and grew until it became the biggest civilization of Asia. China is one of the oldest countries on Earth. It's an interesting subj…"
"Is he actually talking about the history of China?" Gil whispered to Molly. She just smiled back, enjoying Gil's irritation.
"… Japanese defeat in world war 2 made them leave China. A civil war started and the communists were victorious. Mao Zedong proclaimed the PRC or the…"
"He's still going! Aaaah!" Gil whispered. Molly laughed internally.
"… And that's why soon China will become the largest economy in the world. The end for now." Nonny said after talking for 40 minutes straight. He was clearly tired, and the rest too.
"It's time to sleep guys, sleep well!" Molly said.
"Sleep well!" The rest said. The lights went out.
"Gilly?" Molly whispered. Gil turned around.
"Yes Molly?" He whispered back.
"Sleep well." She said kissing his fore-head. Gil didn't saw anything in the dark but understood what happened. He was confused but fell asleep.
The morning after.
"Look at how peacefully they're sleeping." A client said. Molly woke up rubbing her eyes. She looked around and their bed was encircled with people. It was morning.
"Guys wake up, it's time." She said. The rest woke up.
The parents of the guppies were present too and were relieved. They didn't knew where their children where. After paying for what the group consumed and cleaning it up, the group and their parents left the shopping centre.
"This was a very fun adventure." Goby said.
"I won't do it another time." Deema said laughingly.
"I did sleep greatly." Gil said.
"Oh yeah?" Molly asked.
"Yeah, I received some special things to make me fall asleep easier." Gil said looking at her smiling.
It all ended well for the group, I hope you liked this one-shot. See you next time!
