So, times are hard and continuing with numerals isn't something I can do right now. But luckily I have a certain inspiration who makes me wanna write like a psycho, so you can thank her for that.

I had new ideas and y know me I love some drama, so here you go. I hope you hate it as much as we do ;)

Caitlyn looked up as her partner walked through the wooden door. Vi grinned happily, holding three coffees in a cardboard tray. Caitlyn barely even glanced up at her, they'd been knuckling down on a case for weeks now, to no avail of course.

"Expecting someone?" Caitlyn asked. She didn't look up from the paper she was writing on.

"Huh?" Vi said, looking confused. She put the tray down on the end of Caitlyn's desk and realised what she meant. "Oh the coffees? Nah I just got you two, thought you'd need 'em." There was a pause. "I told ya I'm not seein anyone right now."

"Not that I had asked." Caitlyn muttered.

"Except for the evenings of course. Bed ain't gonna warm itself." She said with a wink. She put the coffees next to Caitlyn's hand. The Sheriff sent her a look, the same flat look she usually received before she scolded the shit out of her.

The door to the office squeaked open again. They both looked up, the only person that entered without knocking was Vi and she was already there. The man stood in the doorway with an expectant grin on his face, he ran his fingers through his hair and leant on the door frame, his foot firmly stopping the door from closing back in his face.

Vi's shoulders dropped. This was the third time he'd barged in this week, she looked at Caitlyn, god she wished she was more expressive about her emotions. She thought back to their talk, she'd told Caitlyn she'd support her no matter what, so that was what she'd do.

"Ayy main man Stan the man, whats up dude long time no see!" Vi said, casually holding out her fist for him to bump it. He proudly accepted the offer with the most gentle touch of his knuckles to the brawler in front of him. The weak touch was feeble enough that the lack of weight to it almost made her reel back, with a look of utter disgust on her face she put her fist down again.

Clueless to the disdain he had caused to Vi and her underwhelmed fists he strode over to Caitlyn. He stroked the small of her back with the back of her forefingers. "Hey gorgeous."

"I'm working, Stanley." She sighed.

"I mean yeah but you've got time to give your fiance a kiss right?" He said, resting his hands on her shoulders and gently guiding her to lean back. She put her pen down, focus defeated, forced patience.

Vi watched as Caitlyn eeked out a tired smile, standing up to face him. She stood on her tiptoes to reach his lips as he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him.

Vi rolled her eyes as she rewrapped her hand for the second time that morning. She promised Caitlyn that she respected their relationship as soon as she'd found out. Caitlyn was her partner, her closest friend and the only person she trusted, if she was happy then so was Vi. So why did her jaw ache from the sheer irritation she'd built up from his entire existence.

Stanley, after hanging around still trying to make empty conversation with his soon-to-be wife, eventually took the hint to leave. Vi exhaled a sigh of relief before she looked up at her partner. Caitlyn was staring out of the window, her eyes devoid of any feeling at all.

"You ok Cait?" Vi said suspiciously. She pulled herself out of the train of thought.

"We need to patrol." She said, checking her watch. Vi looked at the clock, they didn't usually patrol for another fifty minutes.

As soon as they stepped out of the building, Caitlyn closed her eyes. Her figure poised at the top of the stone steps down from the precinct. The cold air whipped around her, sending her hair thrashing to her side, she took a deep breath, releasing a puff of fog as she exhaled.

"Let's go." She said.

Vi smiled, the adrenaline had already started dancing through her veins. She jogged lightly down the stone steps, and turned to face Caitlyn as she followed in a more direct manner. "Where we going Cait?"

"Well, it's a new week, there isn't particularly anywhere we're needed. Why don't you choose?"

Vi pouted and tilted her head as she thought about it, she looked at Caitlyn as she stood still waiting for her. "North side."

Caitlyn raised her brow, and started walking. North wasn't the answer she'd expected. Vi would usually get irritable when it came to the extravagance of Northern Piltover. Caitlyn herself lived on the outskirts and it took Vi weeks to get over the idea of that alone.

The streets there were immaculate, never a speck of dust on the pavement, not an inch of vandalism to the walls, no leaking pipes, broken infrastructure, nothing. Things here were fixed and replaced before they'd even had the chance to break, hopeless amounts of money were spent on gold cladding, the purpose of which was simply to please the eye.

Vi hated it there, but there was a curiosity to her thought process, something she wanted to know, but something she couldn't justify to herself. It bothered her, but it was something she would constantly push away and so she leant her feelings to another irritation. Piltover itself.

The citizens of North Piltover were the highest earners of the city, meaning most of the funding that the Police department received, came from the occupants of these exceedingly overdressed homes. Of course this meant a significant amount of the wardens time had to be dedicated to watching over them. Vi hated it. These people didn't need protection, they could afford any damage thrown at them one hundred times over.

Vi's thoughtful head full of cynicism was enough to distract her from the footsteps behind her, they had stopped. When she noticed she turned quickly, a relief came to her to see that Caitlyn had only stopped momentarily before Vi had noticed. They had reached a corner.

Caitlyn paused, her feet had glued themselves to the floor. The house in front of them was so extravagant, with an entrance grander than any other, the gates were tall, each post sharpened to a fine point, threatening but elegant.

"Cait?" Vi called. She looked at the Sheriff, the woman's eyes were transfixed on the gate. "Bit much huh?"

Caitlyn didn't respond, she just nodded and slowly took back her steps. Vi watched her cautiously, she could almost see the cogs whirring through Caitlyn's mind. Her jaw dropped slowly.

"No way...Is that it?" Vi had said the words before even thinking about it, she cursed herself on the inside.

Caitlyn was silent, it was indeed 'it'. The manor in front of them was the Cartier Estate, a place Caitlyn would soon call home. She looked at the spearheaded gates, they were purely for visual intimidation, but what about Piltover wasn't?

"Yes." She said quietly.

Vi watched her partner as she lost herself in her own thoughts, she took a second to realise Vi's eyes were studying her and quickly shook herself free.

"It's a lot to take in." She said as she passed Vi.

Vi stood there, the same state of thoughtfulness Caitlyn had just experienced. She took a glance at her partner and back at the estate, a smirk tugging at her lips.

"Compensating are we Stanley?"
