It was crisp and chilly November day for Kunugigaoka Junior High's End Class. It was also a very average day until Maehara told something very important to Nagisa and Karma.
"A new fighting move?" Nagisa asked before immediately being shushed by Maehara who then proceeded to look around before bringing them in closer and replying in a low "Yeah, that's right". "So why all the secrecy?" asked Karma.
"Because if everyone already knows about it then it won't work."
"You planning to test it out on someone?" asked Nagisa to which Maehara covertly pointed in the direction of Class E's resident gymnast Hinata Okano.
Nagisa and Karma initially thought that he was insane until they agreed on the basis that if the new move will work on her, that it will work on anyone. They then went about telling everyone outside of Okano; they will witness Maehara's new move. (A/N: Roll credits *ding*)
Class had just ended, Maehara had covertly slipped out while everyone else went out of their way to make sure that Okano stayed in the classroom as long as possible. They had let her go once they were sure Maehara was properly hidden.
Everyone watched from the classroom window as Okano walked outside when suddenly without warning Maehara jumped out from behind a tree and tackled her to the dusty ground. In no time flat he had her on her back, his legs were wrapped around hers to keep her from kicking, his right hand was over her mouth in a way that guaranteed that she didn't scream or bite his hand, and in this position both of her arms were kept pinned behind her back.
Needless to say, Okano was NOT happy about being pinned down. In fact, she was downright furious. She was seriously seeing red as she unsuccessfully struggled to get free. That was until Maehara firmly yet gently pressed his free left hand onto her stomach and started rubbing in circles all while lightly humming the chorus to Loreena McKennitt's "The Mummer's Dance". And in less than a few seconds, to everyone's surprise, Okano stopped struggling and started to calm down before passing out entirely.
Maehara gently slipped his leg out from under hers and made his way to the class building's doorway where everyone had gathered as some of the girls went to check on the now unconscious Okano.
Isogai was the first to approach him and asked "That was amazing, where did you learn that move?"
Maehara answered with a single word, "Popeye" to which everyone just sweat dropped.
Author's Note: For those who don't get the reference, it's a reference to the 1936 Popeye the Sailor short "Little Swee'Pea" where Popeye performs a similar move on a crocodile.
