How 'Bout Games?
"I'm boredddd," Omega whined as she plopped herself on her seat aboard the Havoc Marauder.
"I'm bored too!" Wrecker declared, "We'd have nothing to do lately. How about playing a game?"
"If we're playing anything except Truth or Dare, count me in," Echo piped up.
Omega thought for a second a spoke up rather excitedly, "How about Would You Rather? It's a fun game!"
"Oh yeah!" Wrecker boomed, "what say you, Hunter? Can we play?"
"I don't really have a choice on this, do I?"
"Nope."
"Very well then. You coming Tech?"
"Yes, just a minute please. I'm just about to complete ship's sca- Hey!"
"That thing's not going anywhere Tech!" Crosshair snarled as he snatched Tech's datapad, "You need relax a bit."
"Yeah, says the guy who barely smiles."
"Why you-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. How 'bout we take a deep breath in and calm down?" Hunter placed himself between them before a fight could ensue.
Crosshair grumbled a small "Fine" and stormed off to the ship's central briefing room.
"Well, that's a fine start…"
"I'll go first."
"No you will not. I will!"
Hunter sighed, "I'll go first because I don't care whether I win or lose."
"Well technically there's no winning or losing in this game because-"
"WE KNOW TECH!" they all (except Tech) shouted in unison.
"Hmph. Fine."
"Anyways, I'm starting. So Echo, would you rather read books or watch holomovies?"
"I would of course read books. That's actually my hobby."
"That's nice."
"My chance… Wrecker would you rather lose Lula or stop eating Mantell Mix with Omega?"
"Hey, that's unfair!"
"Is it?"
"Hmph, fine! I'd rather lose Lula than stop something that makes the kid delighted. Ya happy now?"
Echo chuckled, "I sure am."
"Me now! Soooo Techhhh," Wrecker grinned in an evil way, "would you rather break your own datapad or Crosshair's beloved Firepuncher?"
Tech gulped and glanced at Crosshair, who was glaring daggers at him.
"I… would… rather… choose… to…" Tech paused and shut his eyes, "breakCrosshair'sFirepuncherinsteadofmydatapad!"
Echo and Hunter's jaw metaphorically hit the ground. Omega was watching with wide eyes and Wrecker was laughing his head off at Tech's face which had paled at the sight of a fuming Crosshair. If looks could kill, he would've dropped dead on the ground.
"Why you little- TECH IF YOU EVER EVEN BRING ABOUT A SCRATCH ON MY RIFLE, I WILL KILL YOUUUU!"
"AHHH- IT'S NOT MY FAULT! BLAME WRECKER! HE'S THE ONE WHO ASKED IT TO ME! BESIDES I WOULD NEVER BREAK IT, I ALWAYS DO QUITE THE OPPOSITE!"
That seemed to calm Crosshair a bit.
"Right. I guess I forgive you. But don't ever think of doing that or I will end you myself!"
Tech gulped and nodded.
"Change of plans," Hunter spoke up before Tech could give his 'would you rather' statement, "How about we play something else? You know, something less violent?"
"How about riddles?" Echo suggested, "I had a book of riddles once…"
"Sure! We'll all take turns and ask them to Tech."
"May I know the reason why should I only answer but not ask?"
Wrecker opened his mouth to answer but Crosshair beat him to it, "Because you're supposed to be the genius of the group. Think about it as us 'testing' your intelligence."
"I don't need my intelligence tested, thank you very much."
"Why Tech, are you afraid of not being able to answer our questions?"
"I am certainly not afraid! Fine, you can ask me the riddles."
"Ready to be riddled Tech?"
"Oh, can I go first?" Omega asked innocently.
"Sure kid! Try to beat him!" Wrecker boomed excitedly.
"Okay… here goes… What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?"
"Hmm, that's easy. It's the letter M."
"I'll ask now. The more there is, the less you see. What am I?"
"Good one Hunter. It's darkness, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is…"
"Me now! I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body but I come alive with the wind. What am I?"
"An echo. Trust you to ask me that, Echo."
"Ha, would you look at that! Echo's echoing a question whose answer is echo!"
Omega tried to hold back a chuckle but failed miserably and ended up laughing.
"Shut up Wrecker," Echo grumbled.
"Moving on… What falls but never breaks? What breaks but never falls?"
"Really Crosshair? I thought we agreed to discuss about 'breaking things' no more!"
"Shut up and answer the question."
"Ok… what falls but never… breaks… never… falls… Rai- No! Haha! I got it! Day and Night!"
"That's correct."
"That was a good one Cross! So, the next question-"
"Wait a min! When will I get to ask a question?"
"Oh yeah! Sorry Wrecker…"
"No problem Sarge! The Question- Give me food, and I will live. Give me water, and I will die. What am I?"
Tech paused for a minute, "I think it is fire."
"That's right! Keep it up Tech!"
"Hey, answer this now- you're being chased by Seppies and you reach the end of the road. You find two doors there. The first door opens to a pit full of venomous snakes. The second door contain two Rancors who were starved for three years. Which door will you choose to go through?"
"The second door."
"Why?"
"If the Rancors were starved for three years, they'll be dead. Isn't that obvious?"
"Ok.. answer this last one.. if you succeed in answering it you win. If you do not, we win."
"Ok. Ask away."
"How many bricks does it take to complete a seven-storey building?"
Tech was stumped. "H-how can I answer that? You didn't even give me the dimensions of the building and the bricks!"
"Tech, it's not a mathematical question. It's a riddle. Now, use that brain the Kaminoans gave you and ignore how they gave you puny, stick-like arms!"
Everyone burst out laughing at Wrecker's last statement.
"Be quiet! Let me concentrate!"
"Cross," Hunter whispered to him.
"What?"
"Let's control our laughter, the genius is concentrating."
Omega, who was already sprawled on the ground laughing her heart out, laughed even harder with tears coming out of her eyes.
"I give up…"
"Ha! Do thee accept thy defeat?"
Tech sighed, "Yes… I accept defeat."
"Hurray! Can't believe we actually defeated him!"
"Yeah, me too. Though I gotta say, I'm curious to know the answer." Echo admitted.
"The answers isss…. One Brick! You just need one to finish the building!"
Everyone stared at him open-mouthed. They were stupefied. They were shocked. They were flabbergasted. How could have the tank of the group outsmart the genius?
Omega, broke the silence by congratulating Tech. The others did too.
"Hey, don't I get a word? It's me who kind of defeated him after all!"
Echo grinned, "Oh yes Wrecker! You, from now on, shall be known as the 'Person Who Outsmarted Tech!"
Everyone had a hearty laugh and then called it a night.
The End!
