I never thought I'd ever be writing fan fiction that's based on real people, but here we are

The newest season of Puppet History has been airing and boy, is it a trip. But there's some stuff going on, namely with one Ryan Bergara, to the point where a lot of people are questioning his sudden turn and I thought, "this could be a thing."

Now, I haven't written in a very… VERY long time, so this is more of a writing exercise, to rediscover my writing style. Honestly thought my first foray back into writing would be something like TMNT but since there's only two episodes of Puppet History released and the seasons tend to be short, I knew this one had a time limit

That said, since there's currently only two episodes out and more to come, it's very likely that this little thing will become pretty inaccurate lol I just wrote this for fun

I am not associated with the Watcher company at all, nor do I know any of the people there in real or internet life

I have no idea where this came from. But I hope you enjoy nonetheless

Ryan scowled as he held his phone up to his ear, annoyance growing as the person on the other end kept on talking.

He pinched the bridge of his nose to stave off his frustration, agreeing with the other before tapping the phone screen harder than necessary when the conversation was finally over. He took a deep breath, letting it out as he began to walk back down the hall to the theater.

He had gotten tired, so tired of always losing, of getting mocked, of the Professor always rigging the non-existent "algorithm" in favour of the guest.

Ryan decided to take matters into his own hands.

During the season break, he took the time to "stoke the fire", so to speak. He was able to gain information and get in contact with that genie — Ryan was honestly surprised that the being truly existed — and the two together drew up a plan.

However, the genie had also taken to calling him up to remind him of what he was supposed to be doing or to berate him for when it seemed things were going too slow or incorrectly, which angered him to no end.

Ryan knew what he was doing.

He knew about the "technical difficulties", knew what was actually happening. Why the returning puppets were acting off: the big pile of diamonds, that stupid Randy Newman coin.

That had been his idea, after all.

He'd also been privy to the fans' comments: their shock, surprise, and honest distrust of his sudden nice behaviour. Especially after the emu episode, when the Professor had Ryan and Kate shoot fake emus in the blue puppet's vicinity. It took a lot of willpower for Ryan not to aim directly at the host.

Ryan opened the door to the Puppet History theater and made his way to his spot, amiably greeting the crew on his journey. As he passed the stage manager, Shane, the man asked if everything was all right. Ryan nodded, said it was just his therapist calling to remind him of his next appointment. Shane smiled and disappeared to go check the lights.

They're all so naive.

He heard the director call for places as soon as he reached his chair. His phone buzzed and he narrowed his eyes, seeing a text from the genie before turning off the device and pocketing it.

As the lights dimmed and the director called action, Ryan plastered on a smile.

"Welcome one and all to Puppet History…!"
