A year has passed since a Hylian boy named Link had saved the land of Termina from the goddess known as Majora and the imp known as the Skull Kid has finally come to terms with his friends, the giants' departure and is now content with the companionship of the twin fairies, Tatl and Tael.
But little does he know what the gods have in store for him and the adventure that is yet to come.

"Alright Tatl, you'll count to twenty while Tael and I will try to hide, okay?" Skull Kid said as they're about to play a game of hide and seek.
"I'm on it Skull Kid!" Tatl exclaimed. Ever since her adventure with Link, Tatl has become more empathetic and adventurous than she was when she's with Skull Kid before she was accidentally separated from him.
As Tatl counts to twenty with her eyes closed while facing a tree, Skull Kid and Tael are trying to find good hiding spots for Tatl to find them in.
While running to a potentially good hiding spot, Skull Kid had run into a young woman and two twin priestesses that he instantly recognized.
"Trixen! Trinya! What are you doing here?" Skull Kid exclaimed.
Trixen and Trinya are twin women that came from a long line of priestesses who have served and worshiped Majora even long after their tribe is no longer around.
"Hi Skull Kid, you're just in time!" Trinya said happily.
"What do you mean by that?" Skull Kid questioned as he looks at the three women
"We have something very important that we want you to have" Trixen said as she pulls out a familiar mask that the imp knows all-too-well from a bag that she's carrying and showed it to him.
"Umm, he hehe...no thanks, m'lady, you don't want another world-ending situation in my hands" Skull Kid said awkwardly since he doesn't want to get possessed by the mad goddess again.
"Don't worry about that my dear." said the priestess that is with Trixen and Trinya "Majora is no longer connected to this mask".
"Are you sure about that?" Skull Kid questioned while he's having shivers by just thinking about the cursed mask.
"Allow me to explain what that salesman didn't tell you about this mask" Trixen explained as she put a hand on Skull Kid's shoulder to calm him down. "When the goddess Majora had left to the heavens, our tribe made this mask as a way for her to communicate with the mortals below, even if it means to possess the person who is wearing it."
"But when she is defeated by your friend, the connection she has to the mask has been severed" Trinya added as she looks at the imp.
"Wait, does that mean that it's okay to wear this mask?" Skull Kid asked as he's now relieved from his worries about the mask.
"Yes" the third priestess answered "but the actual reason why we want to give this mask back to you was that it still has her powers"
"Mollie, my sister, and I have been scouting for any leftover powers Majora left behind in Termina for the past year and storing them into her mask" Trixen added
"We wanted to give it back to you because you saw firsthand what destruction it could bring if it fell into the wrong hands and I know you won't do it again." Trinya said as she handed over the mask to Skull Kid.
"So, will you accept this mask?" Mollie asked
Skull Kid thought it over for a few minutes, on one hand, it makes sense to an extent, but on the other hand, he nearly destroyed Termina with it, but then again, it wasn't exactly his fault since he's only like a puppet under Majora. Perhaps this will be an opportunity to redeem himself.
"Alright then, I'll take it" Skull Kid finally answered as he grabs the mask from Trinya. He briefly observed the mask and he realizes that it didn't have the creepy aura that it once had. He then finally pulls the mask to his face.
Tatl and Tael had flown to the group after Skull Kid got the mask on.
"Hey, Skull Kid! We've been looking for you for almost an hour, what's up with that?" Tatl said as she and Tael fly over to the now masked imp.
Skull Kid turned around to reveal the mask he is now wearing once again.
"Oh no.." Tatl sheepishly said when she saw that Skull Kid donned Majora's Mask again.
"Don't worry Tatl and Tael, we can explain it!" Skull Kid responded.
Skull Kid and the priestesses then explain everything to Tatl and Tael. After they explain, the fairies eased up a bit though they'll still keep an eye on the imp just in case.
"I almost forgot!" Trinya realized "if you need any help from me and Trixen, the mask still has the psychic connection to both us and Majora, can you remember that Skull Kid?"
Skull Kid nodded "all right then Trinya. goodbye girls and I hope we'll meet up again one day!" He said happily as they leave the group to go back to their hideout in the Lost Woods.

As Skull Kid and his fairies arrived at the Lost Woods, they encountered the First Sage of the forests that he only knows loosely about.
"Majora?" The tall woman said while being concerned and looking down at the child, "is it you?"
Skull Kid figured that she is referring to the mask that he's wearing and doesn't know what happened over at Termina.
"You must be mistaken there Mother Sulkaris" Skull Kid responded "Her connection to this mask is no longer there thanks to Link"
"Oh, I see Anthony, my apologies" the sage responded "a lot has changed in the forest since you're away at Termina for a few months. I had to rule over these forests again ever since The Great Deku died."
"What do you mean the Great Deku Tree died?!" Skull Kid exclaimed
"He died of a gohma infection that was brought upon him by a Gerudo thief not too long ago." Sulkaris explained
"That's just terrible! But what happened to Saria and the rest of the Kokiri?" Skull Kid said
"I'll explain what happened to them later in time, but I have taken Saria under my wing as an apprentice of mine, so don't worry about her." Sulkaris said, "I'll leave you and your fairies to return to your hideout, okay?" Sulkaris finished and then continues to stroll on her way to her palace

"Wait, so your real name is Anthony?!" Tael said to Skull Kid as they're almost there to their hideout
"Don't call me by that name" Skull Kid said sternly while having his arms crossed, "we skull kids call each other by our real names to tell us apart."
"Oh, I see Skull Kid.."Tael said disappointingly wondering about Skull Kid's past, perhaps he'll learn more about it later down the road.

They had finally arrived at their hideout within the lost woods where they play and live in peace for the time being while 215 years have now passed
