Hi guys! I'm back with another one-shot. It's going to be considerably longer than the last one, but that's because I could really make this story multiple chapters if I wanted to. It is not a Clalec fanfic, surprise surprise. It is actually a Clace fanfic, just to switch it up a bit. I really hope you like this one! (Disclaimer: I do not own TMI, Cassie Clare does. This is just a fanfiction!)
Enjoy! - Jen (the author)
Clary POV:
Clary stood there, staring at herself in the mirror. Her bright red hair was pulled tightly into a bun, and her emerald green eyes were lined with the perfect amount of eyeliner and mascara. The rest of her make-up was perfect, as well - her cheeks were coated in a rosy pink blush that complimented the rest of her look and her lip gloss was just the right shade of reddish-pink where it didn't try to compete with her flaming red hair - and she couldn't even imagine a more stunning look. Clary's outfit, picked by Izzy, was an absolutely stunning pale gold ball gown with a sweet heart neckline and just the right amount of poof in the skirt. It was also accompanied by dazzling accessories - a necklace with a small emerald hanging from it, a tiara that didn't look too much like something a princess would wear, studded earrings and a pearl bracelet on her right wrist.
Both Izzy and Jocelyn stood behind her, and were admiring the bride and her gorgeous look. Jocelyn, Clary's mother, held a veil that was the same pale gold as her dress. Isabelle, however, just stood there in awe and her dark brown eyes kept looking Clary up and down in the mirror. She was wearing a stunning strapless red dress that hugged her body, making all of Izzy's best features stand out. Her mother, on the other hand, wore a simple dark green long-sleeve dress that went all the way down to her knees. Jocelyn's dress was not form fitting whatsoever, and looked like something someone her age would wear - which was quite fitting for her, actually.
"Wow... Clare, you look beautiful." Izzy gushed, smiling at Clary through the mirror.
"So did you on your wedding day." Clary responded, smiling back. "But thanks for the compliment."
Izzy laughed at that. "Oh, by the angel, Clary! This is your wedding, not mine! You shouldn't have to think about how I looked at my wedding."
Clary just nodded as her Jocelyn started to put Clary's veil into place. In all honesty, Clary couldn't believe that this was all actually happening. She had dreamed of getting married her entire life, but she had never thought her future husband would look anything like Jace and she never expected to fall this hard for any man.
She looked over at her mother, just to see her wipe a tear from her face. "Mom, what's wrong?" She questioned. "Why are you crying?"
Jocelyn smiled at her. "Oh, honey.. it's nothing really.." She paused for a second. "Its just that, you look absolutely gorgeous. I've never seen a more beautiful bride on their wedding day."
Jocelyn's words made Clary want to cry too, but she didn't - all of Clary's training as a Shadowhunter made her tough. "Oh, Mom.." She chuckled a little. "Thank you!"
Jocelyn just nodded at her. It was Izzy who spoke next: "I love all of this mother-daughter bonding stuff.. but I think it's about time for Clary to walk down the aisle."
Clary beamed with joy and happiness, she felt like she was going to explode from it all. The three women walked out of the room, and into the hallway of the Institute. Isabelle and Jocelyn had to go there separate ways after Clary found Luke waiting at the end of the hallway.
Luke was wearing a crisp navy blue suit, with a black tie and a white dress shirt. He looked incredibly handsome, and his kind smile only added to the fact. "You ready, Clare?"
She nodded and smiled even wider. "As ready as I'll ever be."
"Alright then, let's go stand by the aisle. The ceremony starts in 10 minutes."
As they approached the aisle, Clary could hear the wedding guests chatting amongst one another and she could see glimpses of people scurrying to find a seat. It wasn't a large wedding, only around 100 people. And they had finally found a use for the Institute's rarely-ever used ballroom.
"Everyone, sit down! The wedding ceremony is about to start." She heard Brother Enoch say aloud, or more appropriately, in everyone's heads.
Clary sighed, and glanced over at Luke. He smiled softly at her and gestured for her to link her arm around his elbow. As she did, the crowd began silence and everyone turned their heads toward the entrance of the ballroom. Taking a few deep breaths, and smiling even more, Clary started down the aisle with Luke by her side.
Jace POV:
Jace stood in hallway outside the ballroom, pulling his hand through his hair nervously. He felt like he was going to puke, but in a good way. All of his nerves were on fire, but it was all for Clary, so it was worth it. He glanced around the hallway, everything looked polished and clean. Jace was wearing a red suit, with the runes for love and marriage etched in gold all over his jacket and trousers. (Or pants, if that's what you prefer.) He was wearing the fancy dress shoes that Clary had bought him for Christmas and a black tie.
Glancing around again, Jace saw Alec walking towards him, and immediately felt himself smile at his parabatai. Alec, however, frowned at him. "Stop doing that." He said. This confused Jace, and Alec must've picked on this, because he added: "That thing with your hand in your hair."
Jace frowned, dropping his hand. "I hadn't noticed I was doing that." He paused. "Must be the nerves getting to me."
Alec laughed at that. "Well it is your wedding day." He walked up to Jace and started to fix his hair. "You ought to be nervous."
Jace waved his hand away. "Yeah, I guess, but still.." He looked at his brother. ".. It's Clary, she's literally my heart, Alec... I shouldn't be so nervous for this."
Alec raised his eyebrows at this. "Uhhh.., don't know what you're talking about, but, just because she's your heart doesn't mean you aren't going to be nervous at your own wedding." He smiled. "I mean, you're getting married, Jace."
Jace sighed and shrugged. "I guess your right." He smiled. "I mean you usually are."
"That is very true." Alec responded.
"Anywaysssss.. have you seen Simon?" Jace hadn't seen Clary's parabatai anywhere. "I gotta make sure he isn't looking too good today."
Just then, the two heard Simon's voice. "Oh, so you're worried that I'm going to look better than you, Jace?" He had appeared out of nowhere, seemingly.
Jace shook his head. "Of course not. Nobody could look better in a suit than me."
Simon rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
Alec chuckled slightly as Simon walked closer to the other two boys. Jace smiled at the two, and was about to acknowledge how handsome they both looked, when a portal opened up and some of the guests from the Clave stepped into the room.
Jace felt even more nervous, because he knew that it was about time for the ceremony to start. "Ohhh.. uh, is it time already?" He blurted, immediately feeling stupid afterwards.
One of the guests raised his eyebrows at him. "Wasn't the wedding ceremony scheduled for 1:30?"
It was Alec who spoke next: "Yeah, you're right on time." He smiled. "We should start seating everyone."
Clary POV:
As she walked the aisle, Clary looked up at Jace - taking in his handsome face and gorgeous red suit - and smiled. He smiled back at her. Her gold ball gown trailing behind her as she walked, Clary made it to the end of the aisle and climbed the alter steps. Luke unlinked his elbow from his arm and went to go sit down next to her mother.
She stood across from Jace, and clasped her hands with his. She felt even more joy and happiness radiating from her as she looked around at the crowd, seeing the faces she had gotten to know over the past few years. Finally turning back to Jace, she saw his smile grow even wider, and felt hers grow as well.
"You look beautiful." He seemed breathless, like just looking at her knocked all of the air out his lungs.
"Thanks.." Clary felt her nerves catching up to her. "... You look.. handsome."
His smiled grew just a little wider at that.
"Now, now.. Everyone settle down." Brother Enoch said, even though nobody had even to be talking or clapping in the first place. "Let's start the ceremony, now.
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the love of two Shadowhunters. Two Shadowhunters who never let their love die, even when faced with some of the hardest challenges a person could ever face. During this ceremony, Clarissa Adele Fairchild and Jonathan Christopher Herondale will exchange both vows and runes. They will make a promise to each other."
Jace looked into her eyes at that moment, his bright gold eyes meeting her emerald green eyes. Their smiles grew a little bit more. Clary must've spaced out, because by the time she snapped back into reality, Brother Enoch was already nearly done.
"Before we exchange vows and runes, do either of you have something to say to one another?" Clary shook her head. Jace, however, nodded and said he would.
"Clary.." He began with her name. His voice sounded angelic-like and Clary immediately felt tears of joy brimming in her eyes at the sound of it. ".. I- I was brought up to believe that I had to be a perfect soldier, perfect son, a perfect Shadowhunter. Then, you came along and shattered all of that, you- you brought down the walls that I had spent all my life building up around myself. And- and, I wanted to thank you. Thank you for loving me, unconditionally and teaching me how to love you back. I love you, so much."
Tears spilled down her cheeks, and Clary knew all of that perfect makeup she had on her face was ruined. But it was worth it, for Jace. "Uhh.." She didn't know what to say. "You're welcome..?" She managed to sputter out.
People laughed at that. It was a short-lived laugh, though - because Brother Enoch began to speak again. "Ahem. Let's all settle down, everyone.
"Anyways, we will now exchange vows, then runes." Brother Enoch paused. "Jonathan Christopher Herondale, do you take Clarissa Adele Fairchild to be your wife?"
"I do."
"And do you, Clarissa Adele Fairchild, take Jonathan Christopher Herondale to be your husband?"
"I do." More tears came and spilled down her cheeks.
"Well, then. We will now exchange the runes of love and marriage. One on the hand, and one on the heart. Jonathan, take your stele and mark Clarissa on the hand, with the rune of love."
Jace nodded, taking his stele from his pocket. Clary held out her right hand to him, entrusting him with this rune. As he pressed the stele to the back of her hand and began to draw the rune, Clary felt the light sting from the stele. She smiled even more. Once he was done, he lifted the stele from her skin and put it back in his pocket.
"Now, Clarissa. You may do the same." She did. And then they both exchanged the marriage runes, placing them above each other's hearts. Clary saw Jace's eyes fill up with tears, and eventually they spilled. He started crying too.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Herondale. You may kiss the bride!" Brother Enoch finally said.
Jace leaned in, grabbing Clary's waist and kissed her. Clary wrapped her arms around his neck, and relaxed into the kiss, and her own thoughts. - They were married, now. And she could finally be called Clary Herondale.
When the two finally parted, all of the guest clapped for them. Clasping her hand in his, they walked down the aisle, together. They walked down the aisle as Clary and Jace, Clary and Jace Herondale.
Jeez, 2,000 words?! Wow. Longer than I thought, honestly. Anyways. Hope you enjoyed! Bye!
