CHAPTER 4: DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING

So, let's start the chapter.

Silence fell to the entire O.R. Most of them were confused at the topic of the conversation. They know what the feeling of losing someone dear to them but after hearing the word Anti-Existence, which is unfamiliar to them or more exactly, not understand the term. But to the high ranked members, they only raised an eyebrow. A being that capable to bringing ruin to the whole universe? It was unheard of in their world.
But, seeing Haruto sorrowful expresions, they know that he is telling the truth. And he seems don't want to talk about it, so they only stay silent.
"…Can I see Strea?" Haruto asked after a long silence, "I want to see her condition…"
Azazel and Tamiel give Haruto a sceptical look.
"Are you sure?" Azazel asked, feeling concerned, "I mean, not long ago, you in a state that made us sure that you will die. And then unknown magic circles appeared and envelop your whole body and your wounds all recovered in an instant! While I really-really curious about that! Your condition is the one that make me concerned, are your body okay?"
"Eh? Altera Vita already activated?" Haruto said in surprised, he looked over his body and then moving his limbs slowly, seeing that his body and his four limbs still intact and functioned properly he sighing slightly, "To think that I fought Anti-Existence for twenty-four hours after I first die fighting against them…" he mumbled but not quietly. Causing his father, Azazel, and the others inside the room to making a surprised (A few with confused) expressions.
"W-what?! You died?! But you're here! Alive and looking healthy!" Baraqiel looked at his son like he is crazy. Of course any person would feel confused, what kind of being is that died first, then fight again as if he/she brought back to life to battle again like it is normal, "And you fought those Anti-Existence for 24 hours after your death!?"
"Okay, this is confusing…" muttered Shemhazai.
A look of puzzlement written on Haruto's face, "Huh? You did't know Altera Vita? That strange… everybody should know about that thought…" He said, forgetting that he is no longer in universe 10, "Oh, yeah… this is my home universe, of course father and the others didn't know about it."
"Is this Altera Vita is… the magic that heal your body?" Azazel asked.
Haruto nodded, a nostalgic expression on his face, with a slight glint of sadness could be seen in his mismatched eyes, "It's true that Altera Vita is the one that healing my body. And it's not magic, but a rare bloodline ability."
Tamiel looking at Haruto curiously, "But that's not all of its abilities right?" he asked, "From what I see is not only your wound and lost limb that healed. Your vitality also recovered. Where you get that ability thought? You're from this universe, and that kind of power does not exist in this world."
Haruto fell silent for a moment, "Yes, healing is not only its power… and it's actually a bloodline gift from a precious person of mine." He answered vaguely, "If you mind, I don't want to talk about her… it's… become pretty painful memory for me recently…"
"I see. If that your wish, then I will not pursue the matter of the one who give you that rare bloodline ability." Tamiel said, "But can you tell me more about this Altera Vita's ability?"
Haruto stared at Tamiel for a few second, his right blue eye is slightly glowing a little but it went unnoticeable to the others. Thinking it silently for a moment, Haruto answered Tamiel question.
"Altera Vita… its mean is 'Second Life'. Like its name. It can bring back the life of the holder of the power when the holder die instantly, whatever the cause of dead, he or she who wield that power is given second chance in life… and not only that, if the owner is have injuries that would kill him, lost limbs and other life threatening injury, Altera Vita will restored and heal the holder of that ability. And also his strength, energy, vitality and stamina also restored until its peak."
Hearing that, not only Azazel, Baraqiel, Shemhazai and Tamiel who's surprised, but the others that were listening as well.
"Such a powerful ability…" Azazel muttered, "But… is there any weakness to it?"
This time Haruto stared at Azazel. His right eyes are slightly glowing again.
"…Err, why did you stare at me intently like that?"
"… Nothing…" Haruto answered, "Yes like uncle Azazel said, there's weakness on it. It only can be used once in twenty-four hour. When it used once, the holder body will be not recovered or healed when he or she get injured and wounded, so he or she can die if they received life threatening attack that would kill the holder, but after 24 hour after the activation, Altera Vita will be reset and can be used until the holder died again, and the cycle continued like that…"
"… It's like the Phenex clan regeneration…" muttered Azazel in amazement, "but the effect and weakness is different by a great margin…"
Everybody nodded dumbly at that and then fell silence.
"I already explain what Altera Vita can do, now can I see Strea?" Haruto asked Azazel, seeing conflicted expression on the Governor face, Haruto pleaded, "Please, uncle Azazel… I need to see her. I want to make sure that she is really alright. I don't want anyone close to me disappear from my life again…" he said with nearly broken tone.
Seeing Haruto wearing such expression, make Azazel feel bad and after several second of pondering, he sighed, "Alright, kid. You can see her but don't push yourself to hard."
Hearing that, Haruto feel relieved, "As you can see, because of Altera Vita, my body is full back to normal and healthy." He said then moved down from the bed and started stand up while rotating his shoulder and doing some stretch, "Now, where is she?"
"She's in the other room within this hospital, I can show you the way." Tamiel Answered.
"Before that, let's give him some of Vali's clothes, we don't want him to walked around naked while there are female members present here and there right?" Shemhazai said.
Haruto looked down on his body, which is now he realized that he is indeed naked. What saved him from embarrassment is that he has a blanket wrapped around his waist, "Well… I suppose I'll go get changed right away."
"Then, I'll go to Vali's room to get his clothes for you to wear. I hope he doesn't mad at me later…" Azazel said.
"Wait, there's no need for that." Haruto said to him.
Before Azazel can asked 'why', Haruto 'materialized' clothes on his body. A blue colour jacket, blue and white shirt with four pointed blue diamond shape on the chest area with black lining under it, white pants and dark boots on his body. Fully wearing it. He then fiddling with bracelet on his wrist (Which Azazel and Shemhazai noticed it looked almost the same bracelet that Strea wear) and then a long blue and white scarf appeared from a thin air. Haruto then quickly wrapped it around his neck area with both tips of the scarf on his back, nearly touched the floor, seeing that he is fully clothed, he looked toward Tamiel, "Now then, can you show me the way?."
But his answer was dumbfounded look from everyone present in the room, making the mismatched eyed teen confused, "What's wrong?"
"…How…?" Baraqiel, his father asked.
"'How what?"
"Your clothes… I didn't sense any magic when your clothes appeared…"
Haruto now realized what make everyone stared dumbfounded at him, so he explained, "It's not magic. But a pure science, for simple answer, I have clothes that stand by in my Dimensional Pocket Gallery wherever I needed it and pulled it up then materialized it when I needed it and automatically equipped." He explained, albeit vaguely for he had many other stuff, and more dangerous weapons that could easily destroy many planet inside it or the entire solar system if he used it at full power.
"I… see…" Azazel muttered, "Technology from other universe is sure is amazing…"
Everyone nodded at Azazel comment.
"Okay then, let's go to your adopted sister's room." Tamiel said, starting to exit the room, followed by Haruto, Baraqiel and Shemhazai while Azazel last before ordering anybody inside the O.R. to keep what happened in here is a secret and forbid to informing the others.

(Few minutes later)
The five of them walked in silence. Nobody uttered a word. They didn't know what to say to Haruto. So the atmosphere is slightly awkward. After a few turns and walking through few corridors, they arrived at their destination, Strea's room.
"Here we are." Tamiel said, "The little lady is inside, but… she's still not awake yet." He added before opening the door of the room and went inside followed by Haruto first, then the rest of the party.
His Adopted little sister is laying on hospital bed. She's wearing hospital gown instead of her gothic Lolita dress.
"We have healed all her injury and no scar left behind on her body." Tamiel said to Haruto, "We just need to wait for her to regain consciousness."
Haruto went to the side of Strea's bed after hearing her condition from Tamiel. The other three Fallens also following Haruto. Haruto's father, Baraqiel, looked at the unconscious nine years old girl.
"So she is your adopted little sister?" Baraqiel asked his son.
"Yes she is…" Haruto answered, "When we first met, she's trying to kill me…" he smilled nostalgically, "Back then, her only purpose was obeying the order from his superior of an evil organisation and must completely the task. And that's until the evil organisation destroyed and her superior is killed, she's completely looked like me when before I accepted to Forthorthe family."
Baraqiel raised an eyebrow, "Looked like you? What did you mean by that?"
Haruto keep silent for a moment, "…She's looked completely lost, have no emotion, have no desire to live. The sad part that we're the same for us is… that we were… raised as an emotionless war killing machine since children…"
"Wha-?!" That last statement making the four fallen angels gasps in surprise.
"But..." Before they could question him, Haruto continued talking, "Thanks to the Forthorthe family saving and healed me when we met, they saved me from bleak future. And the same goes for Strea too."
Baraqiel, Azazel, Shemhazai and Tamiel fell silent. Not quite sure what to tell to him.
Noticing their reaction, Haruto sighed, "It's all in the past, so don't worry about us."
"But…" Baraqiel begin, but didn't have any word to say to his son.
Haruto looked at Baraqiel, "Father, like I said, don't worry too much about my past…"
That didn't reassure Baraqiel at all. In the past before their family thorn apart, Haruto always calls him Otou-sama, not father. And what he worried is what Haruto has said about himself, 'raised as emotionless war killing machine' when he first disappeared to another universe. Furthermore, he found love and comfort from the family of Forthorthe in the universe he was in for ten years, and for the worst, he then lost all of that because of this 'Anti-Existence'. If what he said about all of that is true. Then his son's mental condition is likely worrying.
"I'm going to go full check on Strea's body condtion." Haruto suddenly said, snapping Baraqiel from his thought, "And if she is alright, I'm going to make her wake up for a bit."
"Eh…" that was all the four fallen angels said after hearing at Haruto was saying.
Ignoring them, Haruto touched Strea's forehead, and then he uttered one of his spell.
"Analyze"
Then a lot of information and structure about how each part of organs, every living cells, tissues and any other part of human bodies function and how its work appeared on Haruto's mind.
"Hmm… The skeletal system of the framework of the body that is held together by tendons, ligaments, and cartilage is functioned normally... The skeleton part that move and is involved in the production of blood cells and the storage of calcium is also normal... The nervous system of nerve cells and fibers that transmit nerve impulses throughout the body is also normal. The respiratory system also functioned properly. The circulatory system permits blood to circulate and transport nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, and blood cells also okay and so the other organs inside her body…" murmured Haruto as he continuing examine her adopted little sister body functions.
After he make sure that she is alright, Haruto ended examination and released a sigh of relieve, "Thank goodness she alright… She's just only exhausted…" he said, "Should I woke her up and saying that I'm fine? I don't want her waking up and worrying and gone hysterical if I not around her." The mismatched eyed teen pondering what he is going to do, "Okay, I'll wake her up and telling her that I am fine and let her sleep again, so."
"Brain Hack." Haruto said the spell name.
Like the spell name, this spell function is manipulating the brain's electrical field activity of large groups of cortical neurons and muscle cells.
After working on it for a few seconds. Strea begun opened her eyes slowly. Her red eyes meet pair of blue and red eyes belonged to her brother.
"Nii-sama… you're alright…" Strea said in relieved tone albeit rather sleepy.
Haruto smiled at her sleepy expression, "Yes Strea, your, nii-sama is alright. It has been twenty-four hours after I last died, so Altera Vita worked perfectly."
"Thank goodness…" Strea said as her eyes shed tears of relieve that Haruto is alright, "If Nii-sama died… I don't know what to do…"
"Don't worry, I will make sure that we will be alright. We must thank the late Your Majesty and late Elytra-sama for giving me Altera Vita." Haruto said to Strea with a sad smile while his hand stroking her blonde hair gently.
"Yes… we should thank Otou-sama… *yawn*… And Elytra nee-sama…"
"You're still tired, so take a rest and go sleep again, I'm sorry for waking you up."
"It's okay, *yawn* good night..." with that said, she closing her eyes and started to sleeping again with Haruto still stroking Strea's blonde hair.
Azazel and the others watching the interaction between Haruto and Strea in silence. What make them silent are not the two's interactions, but surprised at the two spell that Haruto used to his little sister.
"What was that?!"
The first that snapping from the shocked state first is Baraqiel, "Son, what have you done earlier?!"
Haruto stopped stroking Strea's hair and looked at Baraqiel, "I used spell called Analyze and Brain hack." He answered Baraqiel question, "Like the spell name, Analyze is spell that allowed the users to browse the mechanism of an object, it will tell the user directly to user's brain the structure and function of an object and living being that the spell used for."
"And Brain Hack is a spell that can manipulate the human mind which includes mental control, reading other people's memories, telepathy, changing a person's personality, willpower and memory destruction, revelation and transplantation of emotions, brainwashing, and psychometry. It's control the secretion of chemicals in the target's brain via the control of blood distribution, cerebrospinal fluid, and others, in the brain. Instead of controlling bio-electricity directly, the user changes its conductive efficiency by controlling the fluid that acts as a catalyst for the electricity to flow through."
As Haruto finished explaining the two spells function, the four leader of the Grigori was rendered speechless. But the most shocked one is Baraqiel .
"Is that true?!" Baraqiel asked as his hands then grabbed Haruto's shoulders. His body trembled and his tone sounded hopeful, "Then, is your spell can wake up a comatose person?!"
"Y-yes," Haruto rather startled as he seeing his biological father reaction, "What's wrong?"
"I need your help. I know that you're just experience a tragedies and feels a lot of pain that I didn't know, but I really need your help to cure a very important person for me, and of course that person is important for you too!."
"…Alright I'll help." Haruto answered after contemplating it for a few second, "Who is this person?"
"It's Shuri Himejima. Your mother." Baraqiel answered.
Haruto's eyes went wide

After hearing the explanation from his father about the condition of his biological mother is still alive, but went to comatose state, the five of them walked through the corridor of different wing of the hospital, going to where Shuri Himejima has being treated until now.
"When I arrived at the ruined shrine, I only find Shuri's body collapsed form and both Akeno and you gone from the scene." Baraqiel telling his son. Haruto frowned when his twin sister name is mentioned, but went unnoticed by his father, "I was really panicked when you both disappear and seeing the half dead body form of Shuri, and anger to who had done this to my family. But fortunately, when I retrieve Shuri's body, her hand twitched. Surprised, I check her pulse. The pulse still there but the reaction is pretty weak. If her wound is not going to be treated sooner, she will undoubtedly hadn't survive, so I bring her to hospital in Grigori, but unfortunately, while her wound is already treated and healed, she never regained consciousness until now. "
"I see…" Haruto reaction to this news was, for unknown reason is… weak. The same goes when he first see Baraqiel after he woke up in O.R., he only feels surprised and his tears was only because of nostalgic feeling. And that's only the small part of it. As if he attending to a stranger's funeral. Haruto was puzzled why is his feeling is lacking, "Then, what about Akeno?" he asked Baraqiel, shaking off why his feeling like that aside for now.
Baraqiel raised an eyebrow at how his son addressed his older twin. In the past, Haruto usually called Akeno 'nee-sama', but why he is not using that now? No. that's not the time to ask him that, "Right now she is alright and at the hands of someone that kind to her friends and family." He answered.
Haruto only nodded at that.
Before Baraqiel asked why, the five of them arrived at Shuri's patient room.
They entered one by one. The room full of medical tool.
And for the first time since ten years, Haruto finally seeing Shuri Himejima, his biological mother. She is wearing hospital gown and laying on the patient bed. Her body is thin. Her cheekbone nearly showing. An oxygen mask is placed in front of her nose. On her right hand there's Hypodermic needle connected to IV bag via infusion hose. There's also heart rate monitor on the side of the bed.
Haruto gazing at her mother weakened state that laying there motionless. Only the chest area that been going up and down. A sign that she is still breathing and alive.
"Haruto, go on…" said Baraqiel, urging him to move closer to his mother.
Nodded, Haruto move to beside her and then touched her right arm's skin then muttered the spell.
"Analyze."
Again, like he had done to Strea, all information of the body and the function entered his mind as he examined what was wrong.
A few minutes later, Haruto found out what had been the cause of her mother comatose condition. He then turned to Baraqiel, "The coma state on mother case is caused by damage to the brain, specifically the diffused bilateral cerebral hemisphere cortexor the reticular activating system. This area of the brain controls arousal and awareness. And it has been damaged a bit serious for a long time." He explained to them.
"Is it possible? To wake her up...?" His father asked nervously.
"It seemed like she was unable to recover with just average person healing magic and magic potions, but the time required for recovery changes depending on the skill level of the healing magic caster, the time spent casting magic, the area treated, and the restriction of the magic effect range. Healing internal injuries is already difficult enough, but the brain is particularly complex, so it'll be even more difficult. So I can't say for sure that it'll succeed, but there may be potential in focusing on treating the head area."
"Let's try it. If the healing magic you need. Then I'm the best." Tamiel offered.
"Then, let's try right away. I'm going use Brain Hack to control the secretion of chemicals inside mother's brain via the control of blood distribution, cerebrospinal fluid, and others, in the brain. And Tamiel-san use healing magic at specific part of the part that the brain is damaged."
"Ready when you are."
"Then let's begin."
A magic circle appeared at Tamiel's hand, emitting a faint light.
And yet, Shuri still didn't wake up immediately.
"Let's continue with the treatment for a while," Haruto urged.

.
Several minutes passed. Haruto and Tamiel were concentrating, so the rest of the room fell into silence.
just then, Shuri's body trembled.
"Urk..." A groan escaped from her lips.
"Shuri!"
"Please call out to mother, everyone," Azazel directed.
"Wake up, mother!"
"It's Baraqiel. Can you tell who I am, Shuri!?"
Haruto and Baraqiel complied immediately from beside her pillow. They repeated similar phrases over and over again.
After a few moments, Shuri blearily opened her eyes.
"Bara...qiel...?" she said.
"That's right. Wake up now," Baraqiel yelled as Tamiel cast healing magic.
"Time for the finish. I'll strongly stimulate her mind to wake up." Haruto increased the output of his spell.
"Ah... Ugh... Wh-Where...?" Life returned to Shuri hazy eyes as she uttered sensical words.
"The hospital in Grigori. Do you know who I am?" Haruto asked immediately.
"Haru... Haruto... You're safe..." It seemed she had a clear memory of what had happened before she went into comatose state.
"Worry about yourself right now. You were critically wounded and have been unconscious up until now." Azazel said.
"Ah..." Shuri let out a breath of relief.
Roughly half an hour later, her eyes that hadn't been quite focused regained their life as Haruto and Tamiel stoped the treatment. She tried to get up, but her body is really stiff after ten years of not moving, she still need to rehabilitation of her body in the next few days.
Baraqiel cried loudly at the sight of her wife is waked up and fully conscious. The others also felt relief and feeling happy that their friend is got back his happiness.
But only one person whose felt different.
Haruto was puzzled.
Puzzled why he feeling like this.
Puzzled why he didn't felt anything.

Sorry for the late chapter. I still having health problem. It's really distract me from doing activity and working of this fic.
And before any of you asked, Yep, Brain Hack is inferior version of Mental Out from ToAru Series. It has limitation than Mental Out that Misaki Shokuhou had.
And sorry if this fic is feel rushed, have many grammatical error and few vocabulary. I really am trying my best here!
