Howdy! Thanks for checking out my latest MHA / BNHA fanfic. This is a one-shot prequel to a multi-chaptered fanfic that I will be posting later on (still working on it at the moment). I thought I'll just be writing a one-shot for this pairing, but after I started writing I can't help but get these ideas for future chapters that will take place some time in the future from where this one-shot is set. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this and leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Also, if you're in the mood check out my other MHA / BNHA fanfic, We're Just Friends, Right?, that one is still ongoing and I will be updating it on and off while working on the sequel to this one-shot.

So without further ado, let's get you started on reading One Night Only...

IT WAS NOW OR NEVER. If he doesn't do it now, god knows when he'll get to again.

Everyone was in a good mood. It was their last night at the dorms; starting tomorrow they'd be going their separate ways. Some would stay close to home while others would join agencies elsewhere. As for him...well, you can say that he already made up his mind on which agency he'd like to become a part of on a full time basis, it just wasn't the agency everyone else thought he'd pick though.

As far as he was concerned, he doesn't know which agency to join yet, or he already has one that was willing to take him in, but he was kinda on the fence about whether to accept the offer or not. Regardless, he better not chicken out now and not show up after he mustered the nerve to ask him to meet with him later.

DEKU WAS A BAG OF NERVES by the time he exited the dorm to meet up with Todoroki outside behind the five storey building they called home this past three years. He asked him to meet him out here once everyone's gone to sleep. He didn't tell him why he wanted to meet with him this late in the evening, and he didn't insist that he have to be show up either.

If Todoroki didn't show up or if he wasn't there, then Deku got his answer. He won't pursue this any further.

But if Todoroki showed up or if he was already there, then Deku will come clean and confess to him. He won't have any expectations; he just wanted to get it off his chest and move on. If his feelings were reciprocated, great; they got a happy ending. If his feelings were shut down, well...c'est la vie.

Deku was busy having an internal debate with himself all the way to their meeting spot. He let out a sigh of relief when he didn't see Todoroki and that helped calm him down as he waited.

As the minutes turned to an hour with no sign of Todoroki around, Deku's initial nervousness and apprehension turned to disappointment and bitter acceptance.

What was he thinking anyway?

Of course Shoto Todoroki wouldn't go for a guy like him. He wouldn't go for a guy, period. He was always popular with the ladies and he only ever had eyes for members of the fairer sex as far as Deku was aware. In fact, Yaoyorozu was more his type anyway; they were on the same social class level too and got in to UA via recommendation. How was he ever going to compete with that?

Well, that settles it.

Tomorrow, Izuku Midoriya will leave UA High for the final time and start his Pro Hero career, preferably away from Musutafu or Japan if he could. After tomorrow Deku wanted to put as much distance between himself and this place.

"YOU REALLY ARE AN asshole, you know that, half-and-half?" Katsuki Bakugo snarled at the red and white haired boy crouched down behind the bushes beside him. He was irritated because his legs fell asleep from hiding for so long; Deku's patience was near infinite. If he had been him, he would've left after fifteen minutes. But the damn nerd waited a full hour before deciding he had been stood up. "Well, what are you gonna say to him tomorrow, huh?" he demanded, slowly pushing himself up to a standing position so he could stretch his legs.

Shoto Todoroki, the red and white haired asshole (according to Bakugo anyway), stood up from where he was hiding too and followed the departing green haired teen with his eyes.

"I'll think of something," Todoroki promised in that dull, monotone voice of his.

He didn't see Midoriya's face as he was leaving; his back was facing them from the moment he arrived until he left. But the droop in his shoulders and that heavy sigh told him that he shouldn't have hidden from him.

Bakugo was right; he was an asshole. He should've manned up and faced him, but instead he cowered into hiding.

"It better be something good," Bakugo grunted.

"Yeah," Todoroki grunted back.

But the next day Todoroki didn't get the chance to give Midoriya an explanation.

Midoriya kept himself busy packing up his stuff in his room practically all morning, and when he finally left his room he was always with either Iida or Uraraka, if not them he was with one of their other classmates. He couldn't get him alone no matter how hard he tried.

He didn't get to talk to him until it was time for everyone to vacate their dorm. They were all bidding each other goodbye and good luck outside the main doors; it was hard to avoid anyone then and if he didn't want to be obvious about avoiding him, he wouldn't outright give him the cut direct.

"Well, this is it!" Midoriya had on that big dorky smile on his face when he walked up to him. "Good luck on your pro career," he added, still keeping that smile on his face.

"You're talking like we won't be seeing each other after this," Todoroki said, feeling a sudden surge of dread and unease.

"Nah, you're being silly," Midoriya laughed. "See you later then!" He waved and walked away before Todoroki could say anything.

"That was a really good excuse, IcyHot," Bakugo tsked, walking up to the half-hot, half-cold pro hero.

"Shut up," Todoroki hissed and went the opposite direction Midoriya took.

"We'll see him back at the agency in a week. You'll have something more profound to say to him then," Bakugo followed him, delighting on annoying the crap out of his fellow trainee at Endeavor's agency.

"Whatever," Todoroki huffed.

But a week later, Todoroki never got the chance to talk to Midoriya. His former classmate dropped off the face of the planet all of a sudden. He reached out to their other classmates – Iida and Uraraka specifically since he knew Midoriya was close to those two – to find out if he had been in touch with them during the week off they had before joining the pro hero workforce post-graduation. But Midoriya hadn't been in touch with any of them either.

Bakugo reached out to Midoriya's mom as well, but Inko Midoriya was tight-lipped about her son's whereabouts. Bakugo even asked All Might, but the retired pro hero wasn't telling him anything either.

"Have you asked your old man?" Bakugo asked while they were out patrolling.

"He told me what we already know," Todoroki grunted.

"So he knows something!"

"What?" the half-hot, half-cold pro hero frowned. "He told me what Midoriya's mom and All Might already told us," he pointed out. "What part of that makes you think he knows something?"

"The fact that he told us what the other two adults already said. Don't you find it too fishy they said exactly the same thing, like it was a rehearsed line or something?"

Todoroki pondered that while they finished patrolling the area that was assigned to them. Midoriya's disappearance was mind boggling to say the least. Could what he wanted to talk to him about that night was his reason for leaving? Why didn't he say anything that day at the dorm?

His words sounded ominous, and Todoroki pointed out that he sounded like he wasn't going to see them again. Midoriya played it off like it was nothing, then he pulled a Houdini and disappeared without a damn freaking trace!
